      They have a new tv deal with their package with the MW right now but yeah, if they tried to rebuild the conference they would need to renegotiate and there’s no guarantee how good it would be especially since nobody wanted the old PAC12

    In 2013, the American Athletic Conference (AAC) had SEVEN former Big East teams after the Big East collapse, with teams such as Louisville, Rutgers, Cincinatti, UCF etc. That's not even including the strong brands they added, like Memphis and Houston. They tried to label themselves as "Power 6," as they used to be in the BCS era. They still could never get it's autonomous status back. Why would Oregon St. and Washington St. think they have a better shot with fewer brands than seven brands & remnants of the old Big East to AAC?

    Great video and breakdown. Truthfully I can see a scenario where the B1G adds FSU and Clemson to get to 20, the SEC only expands to 18 by grabbing North Carolina and Virginia, the Big 12 expands to 20 with Miami, Virginia Tech, North Carolina State and Louisville. Then the remaining ACC grabs UConn, Memphis, Tulane, USF, Oregon State, Washington State and San Diego State and remains a P4/A4 conference.

    • @BroncoBleymaier
      @BroncoBleymaier  8 місяців тому +1

      I think that is definitely a potential path and maybe even the most likely based on the mindset of the ACC leadership (not that it is the correct mindset as I argued in my recent video m.ua-cam.com/video/o93mRxhYEbo/v-deo.html) but they could potentially maintain their A4 status but it would be very, very tight and their tv marketability would plummet. The only way for them to maintain national relevance and ensure A4 status remains is to go grab national brand teams with with strong on field football success like Boise, Air Force, and maybe Fresno State in addition to the teams you listed. Boise is the only team with a brand large enough that comes anywhere close to the teams lost to help continue to draw in national interest from outside the conference.

    • @CatsClaw44
      @CatsClaw44 8 місяців тому +1

      @BroncoBleymaier That's true. The Big 12 pretty much stripped the G5 bare of national names that TV would pay for when they grabbed Cincinnati, BYU, Houston and UCF, and as a result eliminated any true non-P5/4 targets in the G5.

    Oregon State and Washington State are still holding out hope that they can get an invite into the ACC or possibly the Big 12. The ACC being the more likely landing spot. ESPN flat out told the ACC when they added stanford, Cal and SMU that ESPN would have preferred the ACC have added Oregon State and Washington State because they have superior football value. I'm also thinking that the reason they haven't merged yet is because their lawyers are trying to figure out how much they will owe with these lawsuits. How much of that $255 million war chest has to be saved to cover the lawsuits.

      Why would a West Coast team want to be in an East Coast Conference…..better than nothing or the MW???
      PAC 2 needs to fight for a West Coast Division of the Combined ACC/B12/Pac2…with three regional leagues…West/Central/East
      Competing against the Power 1/2…for TV and 24/7 … Coast to Coast coverage !! The cost of traveling to Miami and Syracuse is stupid! If 3/4 teams leave ACC …among FDU/NC/ND/Clem/Mia…what would ESPN or Notre Dame do( if they resist)…so a combo of the remnants would be required. Better fight for the combined strategy..or you will be left out!! Get with Yormack…ACC will play the hubris/ego route…same as PAC 12 did …letting Notre Dame and North Carolina leave you hanging…as UT/OU and USC/UCLA and AM/Ark., Neb/Missouri and Ore./ Wash. all did…did anyone learn anything from this ??

    This makes sense with the playoff expanding to 12 teams this year. The four remaining powerschools all get automatic bids and the top team from each of those four conferences are your 4 first round byes. And then the other eight teams play each other in the first round. It makes the math a lot easier for the expanded playoffs and makes it a lot more fair

    There is a chance for OSU and WSU getting into the ACC because of Cal and Stanford. As a regional standpoint it benefits Cal and Stanford.
    I personally believe OSU and WSU will try to rejuvenate the PAC, but it could never get to its one great luster.
    As a USC fan I would have liked the PAC sticking together, but the PAC has been screwing USC over for so many years and that's why they left.
    If the MW wasn't so greedy they would have been a power conference right now. BYU, Utah, and TCU would have stayed. Then with Boise coming in, that would have been a dang good conference. The NCAA was actually looking at giving the MW the power status, then the conference got greedy by wanting to control the TV rights of all the programs. BYU, Utah, and TCU said no and they took off.
    Not going to lie, I am intrigued to see how Malachi Nelson does for your Broncos. Good QB right there.

    • @BroncoBleymaier
      @BroncoBleymaier  8 місяців тому

      Yes, Craig Thompson nearly destroyed this conference. Just the worst thing to ever happen to the MW. Glad Gloria Nevarez is in charge now and moving the MW finally forward. Cal and Stanford were added begrudgingly and the ACC isn’t looking to placate them by adding regional teams. I think in the backwards way of looking at team potential that those in power use UNLV and SDSU are better West Coast teams to add and with the correct way of looking at team value that I advocate for BSU and Fresno State are better picks. In either way I just don’t see OSU/WSU getting the call until the ACC has used up all East Coast options and potentially a couple of West Coast programs.

    I highly doubt the view BSU & FSU over the Beavers & WSU. If the ACC drops more than the 2-3 teams (FSU, Clemson & UNC) the conference may implode. Losing FSU & Clemson alone will cause ESPN to renegotiate the contract. In order for OSU & WSU to decide to go to the ACC (if offered) I am certain the media deal would have to be around 20 million. The cost of travel would not be worth it. If the ACC loses FSU & Clemson their CFP money would drop off significantly since those two teams are the only ones that made it to the CFP this century. ACC CFP payouts would drop below the B12.
    The PAC2 lost their A5/4 status but still have the PAC12 assets. In order to keep those assets they cannot join another conference or those assets will be split between the original PAC12 teams. Those assets add up to about 275-280 mil right now. So I guess it is either ACC/B12 (very doubtful) but still possible, or rebuild the PAC12. How good can the PAC12 media deal be? We will see. OSU & WSU has pretty good viewership numbers over the last few years, WSU longer.
    So the PAC? isn't dead, lost some power. I know some of you think us Beaver & WSU fans live in ivory towers but that is a few, not the majority. I know some of BSU fans look down on some of your own conference mates, and some of your fellow conference member think BSU are arrogant and live in ivory towers. Some do & some don't. Look at it this way, if you were in OSU & WSU's positions, would you just give up and take the relegation without a fight for everything you could get? I doubt it.
    Just so you all know I am a long time Beaver fan, not alum cause I got my degree while serving in the military over seas. I DO look forward to building a new PAC12 conference with the MWC together in what ever form it takes. Best wishes & respect to BSU fans. I have met many of you at games in Corvallis, great people on most accounts.
    BTW,please forgive any missed grammatical & spelling errors. I had a few tonight.

      Total assets should be 255 million between the two of them, which had $190 million in future earnings which future schools joining the conference would be entitled to unless they signed something to the contrary which I have no idea why they would, and $65 million from the departing schools which my understanding is regardless they get to keep. In either scenario they are having to split the $190 at least 12 ways (either between all departing members if they dissolve the conference or between 10 new members joining the conference) and OSU/WSU’s long term gains are the exact same. However, the longer they drag their feet the less the MW (their inevitable future home) gains from their presence and in the clash of conferences in college football the wheels of media bias turn quickly. If OSU/WSU join now they could ensure the MW is cemented as the top G5 conference and seal up the CFP autobid. If they delay it could give the Sun Belt time to steal the spotlight and OSU/WSU would be forced to join a conference in a struggle for relevance.

    • @michaelwall3393

      The ACC is not going to implode like the Democrats of the West Coast stupid PAC did. Not happening. WazzU and OzzU are academically superior to Bozo State and Firehose State and athletics are better too. This also applies to Memphis, Tulane, USF, CCU, App State, JMU, all three service academies, San Diego State, Marshall, Liberty, UCONN, Villanova, UC Davis, and other schools have more prestigious academics and overall athletics programs are better without compromising what the college system is supposed to be for.
      But the PAC name is not more valuable than ACC. Also any try at a rebuild is over now. No AAC nor SBC nor MAC nor CUSA let alone any MWC schools will join a rebuilt PAC. Even the WAC and ASUN which are moving back to FBS/D1A from D1AA will not sabotage their efforts by joining a group of hopes and maybes.
      Keep in mind the deal with CW requires both schools to provide their own production and facilities and financial services and crews. The CW is just airing the games as WazzU and OzzU have to basically do something similar if it were to be aired on the defunct PAC12 network and not kidding about that.
      I do agree that no way in hell would Bozo State nor FreeShoes State are ahead in desire. What will happen in the ACC is that they will lose 2-6 schools and still be a power conference and still get 30 million per school or close and will add WazzU and OzzU and SDST and Tulane, USF, and either Memphis or UCONN and all three service academies for all sports over the next few years as schools leave ACC. I do agree with this channel that if only 3 schools leave ACC, they may not add any other schools and stay at 14.

    If power 1/2 breakaway .. and finish their draft process of taking whoever they want ..then the game starts all over again !
    Probably from when ESPN decides to renegotiate contracts ..which can be done at anytime …but don’t think you are going to get more money …they are losing money and are renegotiating down …meaning the ACC and B12 ( with similar money) can only negotiate up by combining …not adding teams ! Unfortunately , the only way for WSU/OSU…to get into the Power 3…is to join the ACC/B12/ Pac2 coalition and they set up a three division or league …with a Western /Central/ Eastern Division bringing the old PAC12 / and best of the MW together (The Western Pacific League ) along with the Central American League of Big8/SWC members and Lastly a few eastern members along with the ACC remnants to make the Eastern Atlantic League …all into one conference and the Rival of the Power 1/2.
    This brings back Regional rivalries at lower cost ..where fans can travel in all sports!
    Look at the combos …can have 12 /14 team leagues bringing in a San Diego State/ Boise State /UNLV adds in the West and Memphis , Tulane and UTSA in the Central and USF /UConn in the East …think about it ..24/7 coverage in great states and cities across the Nation and all time zones with multiple Bowl games ..your own Playoffs and control of March Madness !
    Time to get a national Plan together …when the Power 1/2 get thru playing their own game of conquer and divide !
    We form a Conference of getting an education sharing the money, and being pretty close to the same level of competition …size and money and closer locations …for the fans !

    Here is a serious question I have for anyone here to answer, what are the benefits for OSU & WSU to join the MWC over a merger of the MWC joining the PAC12? If there is a (reverse) merger the MWC can bring their assets with them. However, due to the PAC12 court case if the PAC12 closed the conference & joins another all assets reverts to being split with the original PAC12 members. That would be including NCAA MBB units. PAC12 Bi-laws state all assets are to stay with the conference, unless the conference closes its doors. If the MWC merges & joins the PAC? they will share in the PAC's assets.

    • @BroncoBleymaier
      @BroncoBleymaier  7 місяців тому

      Reverse merger is certainly possible but the only way it would really happen is if it’s actually a merger with the MW in everything but name. In any case the new conference would be the MW under the PAC12 name and the PAC12 as we have known it would still be dead. The MW at this point though has a stronger name and brand than the PAC so there’s a good possibility it won’t happen. The assets to be gained from merger with the PAC are not as significant as many would think (about 15 million per gaining member) and if that somehow got the MW members out of their exit fee agreement (which they may not feel inclined to sign again) then it likely wouldn’t be seen as worth it by the MW conference administration. It could happen but I don’t think it’s the most likely avenue at this point.

Oregon would be in OSU position now if it were not for NIKE/Phil Knight. The ACC has theirs as well, UNC, Duke, Wake Forest, Virginia, ND, Miami. Sometimes FSU & Clemson.

      @jamesmckenzie9529 that has been a frequent point of possibility in conference realignment. When the Big 12 reduced to 10 teams they discussed adding programs, maybe even Boise as football only members. UCONN is basketball only in the Big East. Hawaii is football only in the MW. For teams with only one strong program or with long prohibitive travel costs adding only 1 sport is a solid option and can allow their main money maker programs to maximize their potential

    Geographically OSU and WSU should join MWC. Either way Boise State needs to stay connected to those 2 schools and throw in San Diego State. Those 4 schools need to get together as that would be the foundation of what could be a good conference.

Until the Power1/2 decide they have had enough …schools will still take more money …whether it makes sense or not …education and location and cost …are not even in the equation for B10…because they are perfect …just ask them !
    And the SEC has been fairly disciplined in their approach …contiguous states and top programs in each of these States …loosely called the Southeast ! But they are a little vulnerable with B10 trying to get into their territory …Fla/ SC…and eyeing NC/ Va.

      I absolutely despise CUSA. The teams the Sun Belt picked up had a more established track record and they still had a major FBS with many established programs. CUSA is almost majority FCS and the teams that aren’t FCS are the throw away teams nobody else wanted. The only team of any quality in that conference is LU but because they are bogged down by that garbage group of bunk mates they will never get any credit because of their associations. It hurts my soul every single day that my beloved Flames are associated with that refuse heaps masquerading as a conference.

    The Mountain Worst is NOT the Best G5 conference. Stay off the drugs man lol 😆. The SBC is better than MWC and AAC is still better post season wise. If they get back to being better in the regular season again then AAC will be better completely. When Boise goes to Georgia Southern, they will get surprised by how good they are. It won’t be like when Boise lost to UGA but they will learn that the SBC is better than Boise State and its fans and alumni and MWC as a whole previously thought. Don’t get me wrong, I think Boise will go 7-5 or 8-4 but this year win a bowl game. Boise has a non conference slate that is a bit challenging for a 1st yr coach with all the changes to everything. Also the conference schedule is no easy task either. By the way, the MWC champions had 8 wins and 6 losses last year. How the heck is that the best non autonomy conference when all the other conferences has champions with 11 wins or more and with 3 losses or less. Now could the MWC thus coming season or next season reclaim the title as best non power conference? Maybe 🤔? But SBC has really been on a tare the last 3-4 years.

      The problem is judging a conference is based on performance in all sports. Sun Belt is better than the Mountain West in football but in every other sport they are behind. If they were better in the eyes of ESPN, then ESPN would be paying them more money than the Mountain West gets. But unfortunately for them, they are not right now. Their basketball programs need some serious improvement.

    • @BroncoBleymaier
      @BroncoBleymaier  8 місяців тому

      It’s about to to bottom strength. The Sun Belt has 3 good schools, 2 of them elite even. The AAC also has 3 good schools, 1-2 of them elite. The MW has 8 solid programs, 5 good schools, and 3 elite programs. The MW has more P5 and head to head wins against the other conferences and that’s even with the AAC’s teams that jumped ship factored in. The MW consistently over the last decade+ has produced the best G5 products but has been ignored due to East Coast Bias. The fact that an 8-6 Boise team won the MW shows how much parity there is within the conference first off and secondly Boise was only 8-6 because of Avalos who they fired. That team was better than their record. The MW has so much competition and top level schools that it often canonizes its self and produces a multiple loss champion. It’s not like the other weak conference that a team can just breeze through with 1 or fewer losses. The MW is the SEC of the G5.

    • @BroncoBleymaier
      @BroncoBleymaier  8 місяців тому

      How is the Sun Belt better than the MW in football? How? They gave 3 good teams, App, Troy, JMU. That’s it. They are extremely weak middle to bottom and their top team got destroyed by the MW’s 4th best team!

      Also vetting and deciding to add are completely different things. Teams get vetted all the time, it’s a pre-emptive first step like compiling a list of candidates, that doesn’t mean all or even any of those candidates are going to be selected. Circumstances and those in control’s perspective of those circumstances drive that
