    Hi Anita,
    i'm new to photography about 2 -3 years now , i mostly shoot Motorsports , i'm located in the Caribbean . i luv your explanation as you're shooting and also your editing techniques and how you go about it , to have your style consistent . What will be awesome is while you're working with the models have them speak about how they get into the zone to achieve the best results and what they look for when working with a photographer.. Also a longer process into editing and how u go about to change colors etc. and last but not least , when u use flash photography and how you go about it before taking the first shot.
    Thanks a lot for sharing tips for us all to appreciate.

    Great video Anita. I would love to see a little more of your editing process. I think that's what I find the most difficult after my shoots. Having so many options on how to edit, how do you decide how to edit these type of shoots?

    Hi Anita,
    The biggest problem I have when shooting agency girls is getting multiple angles and looks. I find when I'm culling I realized I messed up the images by being to close or cropping out body parts and forgetting to get headshot portraits of different outfits, 3/4 and various sitting/standing shots. Can you make a video on how you plan the shoot and get the shots you need? i was think of making a shot list for various angle headshots, 3/4, full body, side body, chair posies, floor and wall so that way have 15+ images w/ 2 or 3 outfits. I hope I'm not over thinking it but I had losing on the opportunity of getting good shots especially when I can't get back the same team. Not sure if anyone else shares this problem.

    • @JohnSansomPhoto
      @JohnSansomPhoto 6 років тому +4

      Not a question directed at me but I can share what helped me in the beginning.
      When I first started out, a photography mentor taught me to always start a model test shoot "set" with portraits and then work backwards, gradually adding more of the subject in to the frame. So 3/4, full length, seated, floor work etc.
      Portraits are technically the easiest shot to execute from a posing standpoint because there is less going on in the frame. It's a good way to warm up and for you both to find your groove. Starting a set with portraits forces you to get close to the subject. This is good for establishing great rapport and connection right from the get go, and will elevate the results of all your subsequent images.
      Once you've shot in this manner a few times, it becomes second nature and you have a routine that ensures you cover all the standard requirements for an agency test shoot.
      Shots lists are certainly something that I use in commercial and advertising projects where the art director/client requires a specific set of images however, for a test shoot it's something I would consider overkill. That said, if it helps you get what "you" want from a shoot, then do it! You need to do what works for you.
      Side note: If you shoot with a high megapixel camera, you get massive leeway with your cropping anyway. So a full length shot can be cropped to a headshot without concern for most image use cases.
      Hope this helps. Cheers from London.

    • @iunderstanphotography2780
      @iunderstanphotography2780 6 років тому +1

      Jeff Jean I feel you. The same often happens to me if I'm not paying attention. I echo John Samson's advice, except that I do it backwards. I'll start with whole body and then move in to 3/4 1/2 then close up portraits within the same look if I like whats going on.
      Because I love portraits, i'll often shoot a separate portrait look.
      What helps me is taking time during the shoot to scroll through what I have; making sure I don't fall in love with an outfit or look and take too many photos. I've written shoot lists for myself, and kept example photos in my phone i'll glance at while the model is changing or texting.
      Take your time and make a concentrated effort and you'll go home with more of what you want!

    • @matthias6205
      @matthias6205 5 років тому +5

      No, usually model tests are shootings for model agencies that need professional, but simple images of their new models for their portfolios. Thats also why they are a great opportunity for younger photographers to expand their portfolios by shooting with professional models :)

    Cześć. Widzę, że często robisz ruch aparatem góra/dół, chodzi o AF?
    I pytanie jeżeli można dot. sprzętu. Ale w kwestii bardziej dostępności do ustawień niż specyfikacji sprzętu. Co zazwyczaj lubisz mieć na wierzchu? Co zazwyczaj zmieniasz z miejsca dostając nowy aparat do pracy, czy do testów które robiłaś już na kanale? :)

    • @danielgcastrillon7989
      @danielgcastrillon7989 5 років тому

      @@RobSpeaking Nope, Its fine. Most people think that the higher the iso, or shutter speed, it adds grain, some times you want grain so the photo doesn't look too digital, it's ok to shoot different from everyone else. Experiment with different settings. I personally shoot higher Iso and Higher shutter speed, theres a specific look you get, but you only know if you try.

      Looks like Anita is using the focus and re-compose method, which is often used when a camera doesn't have many autofocus points. This allows the photographer to lock the point of focus and then change the composition if desired. I own an Olympus E-300 which has three autofocus points and I use this technique a lot.

    I think it's hilarious the huge chasm between the photos of the contemporary Western women as sexually liberated, self assured, sensual, etc (in fashion, glamour, etc) and their actual conservative sexual personality. You couldn't get more hypocritical if you photographed nuns pole dancing. Think it be more authentic to take these American women out to nature location and photograph them in regular clothes.
