Really enjoy your videos. I watch a lot of photography channels. But what I enjoy is you share the tips without hiding key details to get people to buy into a class or something of that nature. You explain things well and get great shots while keeping it fun. Just a great channel all around. I hate watching others channels and then realizing they hold back a lot of information you wish was out there for help.
Manny, I must have scrolled through 15 videos trying to get to one (you) who teaches clearly and concisely and is not just about headshots, thank you bro :)
Bruh. Your videos are so useful!!!!. I saw your video about 7 thinks a photographer shouldnt go without. You give excellent information sir. Thanks for sharing. You are a blessing to the game bruh. Thanks again.
Thanks for reminding of what I did 20+ years ago. It works. Scavullo did it for years for Cosmopolitan. Coming back into the biz will be easier and less expensive than before.
Great video, Manny! Only thing missing is what settings were used, such as manual or TTL flash, f-stop, shutter speed, ISO. I'm also interested in how was the white balance achieved - in post or with gels + camera setting combo? And one more thing, which may also be a nice topic for a new video - what are the advantages and disadvantages of using this kind of Monolight instead of a basic Speedlite? There are some Godox flashes which are also able to be wirelessly triggered with the same tool you were using.
I always love hearing about different photographers' tricks and techniques for different effects. Car windshield reflector? LOVE IT! I had considered one of those, too.
I just want to let you know that I subscribe to a number of tutorial channels...your channel is by far is the most comprehensive! After watching your videos I immediately but your tips into action and see a world of difference. Thanks Bro!!!!!
This Tutorial was just what i needed! I've just started shooting indoors and I only have a single Flash and a reflector. I was wondering how I could incorporate these two together! I hope you make another tutorial on outdoor shooting with flash! Keep up the great work!
Thank you, just discovered you and now you are locked it. I like those who are confident enough to share all details. Looking forward to be educated. God Bless. Inspiring photographer from South Florida.
Love how you help the learning community of photographers from all over the World .. much love from Long Beach Ca .. Thank you ! You got my subscription 🤙🏼🙌🏼🙏🏼
@manny you need to start doing more videos like this again. I loved this video a year ago and to this day I still come back and look at it again. PLEASE DO MORE LIKE THIS
Yo Manny...you're an absolute beast bro and a blessing to the Photography world as well as UA-camographers..lol. Thanks for all of your hard word, dedication, creativity and sharing it with us all!!!!!!!
No idea how I ended up here, but great video, great stuff on your channel. I am quite a beginner trying to improve my photo/video skills (a6300) every day and left a sub
so your video was just a suggestion in my feed... let me tell you. fk photography lighting! The lighting you have when you're talking is oh so immaculate 👌👌👌 For that im subbing
Manny Ortiz but on a serious note... your videos keep getting better and better and I am grateful that you share your gift if us!! Can you make a video on gear for beginners on a budget? Please.
@@marcg3923 I honestly don't care which one is better of easier to use. I don't even need a website. I just hate how annoying and intrusive Squarespace is getting on UA-cam. If I had to choose a company I'd exclude them because of this attitude.
Aspiring photographer in the making here 🙋🏾♀️I’m so anxious, overwhelmed and excited all at once 😩😭 wow never knew how much it is to photography for the most perfect outcome but man I LOVE learning!!! Thank you for this vid it really helped a lot! New subie just subscribed 🙂
Thank you bruh as an old film head im just loving your flow because of this I’ve recently abandon all of my yongnuo flashes and picked up the adorama’s brand the evolve 200 and a few zoom li-onr2 ttl flashes with the x1 triggers and I just love them. thanks for your info and stay smooth bruh
Do you know of any cheaper alternatives that'd you'd suggest for a flash? I'm a freshman college student and am trying to set up something very similar in my dorm - just want to try and avoid paying so much. Thanks for all the dope videos! Hope to hear from you soon.
Devyn Allen Just get something like a Godox V860IIS. It can be used as an on or off camera flash, has support for wireless shooting via 2.4G with the Godox Transmitter shown in this video and it supports HSS. Best of all it's really affordable and powerful but if it's still a bit too pricey you could go with the TT685S which is as I recall almost the same but runs on regular AA Batteries and thus has a slower recycle rate and is a bit less powerful (not quite sure).
The Godox set up is cheap and as Manny will attest, reliable. One thing you need is consistency with gear. I've yet to have a failure from the AD200/TT660 or TT685 with the X1T trigger.
I appreciate the reply! However, I'll be quite honest, I've never done anything like this before. I've only shot portraits, sporting events, etc. So I wouldn't know where to begin. I do however love the price of the equipment you mentioned. Could you possibly list out everything I'd need to set up a small studio? Modifier, flash, etc? I'd very much appreciate it, sir. Also, I'm not sure if it matters or not, but I thought you should know that I'm shooting on a 5d mark ii, so if I need anything extra please do mention it! Regards, Devyn Allen
Yea Yea Yea The Best Lens?Yea The Gmaster 85mm 1.4?? Yea its Your Fault Manny I Been in the Dog House for the Last 3 weeks...I explain to the wife The Same Thing you been saying about this Lens and she aint trying to hear it.. So now I throw my leg on my lens instead of my Wife while I Sleep...She will get over it.I Hope...Lol...Like Always,,Great Video Manny...
You're one of the best UA-cam photography channels! You have videos for both flash and LED continuous lighting. Question #1) Does the color of the flash or LED matter, or do you simply adjust the camera's white balance? Question #2) I like how you under-expose outside backgrounds, then use flash for fill light on portraits. Is that possible when using continuous lighting? Question #3) Is there LED lighting that functions in both flash and continuous mode?
Hey thanks for showing the different angles and of using one light with the reflector at times I wanted to give up but after seeing your video make me want to get back out and grind and not give up. Now I can’t afford the camera but I am getting the Sony A6000 and go from there.
Great lighting! My go-to setup is one large octabox and a reflector. It's simple and very versatile. Also, thanks for sharing the Franklin Backdrops info. Their backdrops look very nice.
Thank you, Manny, for presenting this tutorial! Your description is simple but highly instructive. I’m watching this on November, 2021, so I hope that the equipment translates to this time frame. I’m shooting with the Olympus OMD- EM1- MARK 2 and giving myself the other equipment for Christmas. Gracias.
Hey Manny, I found you when you first started on UA-cam. I didn’t really like HSS outdoor images but I believed in you and your wife’s hustle. Your videos lately have been much more dynamic in terms of content. But today the images and retouching was AMAZING. I love your growth and that model is very lucky to get those images. Please do a video on the retouching technique and color grading. The image had no clear hotspot so I’m not sure if you cleaned it up in post or if you was shooting a high F-Stop which controlled the light as well as feathering it. But beautiful catchlight wonderful gradation and tones. Moody but not too moody. Very Vogue / Vanity Fair. Id love to see you shoot more of this style. Thank you so much for a great video.
Thank you.. Everyone should rise to the challenge of one light.. I love the backdrop.. I headed off to find out all about Canvas Backdrops.. Now I want to make my own.. I see now why they would cost $400.. Time consuming and difficult enough to do well !
Thanks MO. Great video - direct and to the point. Way cool that you introduce the gear that you are using. With your help maybe I can become a photographer. Bottoms up!
Great video. So true you only need one light- or none! When I was on a budget it was a great test of my photography skills using natural light. Keep up the brilliant content!
So crazy I was working on a similar setup (without the Xplor 600 and the Painted Backdrop). I plan to purchased a few painted backdrops soon for a new concepts I'm working on. This video was confirmation. Thanks for the inspriation Manny !!!
I have been using the flashpoint strobes ever since your first recommendation I think over a year ago they work wonderfully in the field and in the studio thanks keep up the great work!
Another great helpful video Manny. I’m only a newbie and yet to try shooting with flash & reflectors. But I truly enjoyed and learnt something from this video. Thanks a lot mate. 👋🏽😎🇦🇺

As someone who shoots mostly natural and is now finally getting into off camera flash, this tutorial was helpful for sure.
Manny would you recommend constant light for starting out or would a flash be better for a total newbie photographer
I am asking for my mom
Photos By TIM constant light. This way you get a better understanding of how light work
It's better a strobe, because with continuous lighting you cant freeze the subject!
The selection of background, pictures, and model look good. This be great if starting off with website or E Commerce. Great work as always.

I'm so sick of Squarespace...
Literally every photographer has a sponsorship with them
I didn’t like the look or feel from it at all.
Still it's better than the "I just created my website using Wix" adverts, where the person obviously has never used it in their life 😀

Do you go about setting your camera settings in studio the same as when you're shooting outside with a flash? do you underexpose?
Different places demand different settings
