Where is that Stage Display video out?
That’s being plugged into the CalDigit Dock. We already had a USBC to HDMI adapter lying around, so we used that.

@@MikeyD480 we ran SDI to our Audience Displays, so it made sense to run those off of the BM Ultrastudio Monitor. Then for the Stage display we ran HDMI from the CalDigit
@@ZachBrownMedia You mention 3 Displays (Laptop, Audience, and Stage I'm assuming). Apple has stated that the M1 can only have 2 Displays, and docks don't extend that limitation. Are you saying that the CalDigit Dock is letting you run 3 different displays?
@@gailid You're right, the Thunderbolt dock doesn't give you additional displays.

Hey Zack! Great video as far as finding budget options to upgrade your set up. I would love to see the practical side as far as what plugs into what/where. As a worship pastor who is simply wading through the AV world, I'm not a super tech savvy person so it wasn't obvious to me. Thanks!

I am trying to learn Mac at the same time as I am trying to learn new software. We have the iMac 27”. And 1 stage displays and two audience screens (projectors all 3-audience is on a splitter). Having issues getting stage (back wall) to display. The last software I used was churchview a few years ago. This church did BetterView but the computer was giving out and the software was no longer supported. Any hints for someone coming from PC to iMac to make it easier? I am getting a bit frustrated.
There are a couple reasons a stage display might not be showing up:
- Is the Stage Display button turned on (top right corner)
- make sure there’s a separate monitor or video output you’re sending the stage screen to. You can adjust settings in the screen configuration page

Will definitely implement some of this in my church. Thank you for the video. Off-topic question: Do you also record audio from the sermons - and if so, how? We've got an M1 Mac and the StudioLive 32.4.2AI as well, but PreSonus have dropped support for FireWire, thus making it harder to record audio using the PreSonus Capture software.
We don’t record audio at this campus currently! Though one way to get around this is to create a mixbus on the Presonus and run that out of a Aux out or XLR out and run that into a audio interface to then record in Logic, GarageBand, etc. Basically the same process just less convenient
@Zach Brown. I have a mac studio which i've installed pro presenter 7 on. I have two monitors connected as a display for the mac studio, just like normal cpu-monitor connection. I have hdmi splitter connected via hdmi cable to the mac, and the hdmi spliter is connected to a projector and two tv. At the moment, only the screen of the of the mac is showing on the projector, if the propresenter is running, it doesn’t display/extend the output to either the projector or the two tv. So at the moment, I'm stuck as I'm not able to display any presentation, live output etc. Please kindly help.

Either will work! The external chassis is to replace and actual PC tower that has expansion slots
What Pro7 Setup are you currently running?
Great video. We just recently setup PP7 on our 2014 MacBook Pro. It seems to lag a lot on the MBP. We should probably consider the new M1's. Also, did you have to buy SDI-HDMI converters for your two screens?

We recently started using a similar setup for our church, but with a Mac Mini. We're using the ultrastudio monitor for our stage display. We ran into the issue where the stage display is displaying with a blue tint. While it isn't the end of the world, it would be nice to figure this out.
I've already replaced the BM, and tested with a friend's MacBook which also had a blue tint on the output. I can use BM Media express to display a clean image, so it seems like a Propresenter issue. I have had quite a long back and forth with Renewed Vision already with no resolution yet.
Any thoughts on settings I could check?
Hmmm interesting haven’t come across an issue like that. Sounds like it’s not a cable either. Is there an update needed for the BM monitor?

I've come across a few isolated cases of this happening on reddit, but no one seems to have a solution for it.

@zach brown - How did you connect your TVs? Are your TVs has SDI or did you use a converter? Thanks for this.
A decimator or black magic converter is mounted to the back of the TVs to convert from SDI to HDMI 👍🏼

8GB seem sufficient? Only debate I have at the moment, 8 or 16 GB
Yeah 8GB has been fine for us. If you’re worried you could go up to the 16GB. But if you look around on YT there are a couple videos of M1 stress tests with Pro7. They handle it pretty well
If i want to send to broadcast also is that set up applicable?
Yes you can, but you have to be thoughtful with your setup.
There are only two Thunderbolt 3 Ports on the computer.. 1 of those is taken by the UltraStudio Monitor and 1 is taken by the CalDigit Dock.
The CalDigit Dock also has 1 Thunderbolt 3 Port that is made avaiable to you, but that port is needed for the USBC to HDMI adapter that runs to the Stage Screen.
So you don't have another Thunderbolt 3 port to run an additional video out via another UltraStudio Monitor.. so there are two main options you'd have.
1. Don't use a Stage screen and instead have the main audience screen run from the SDI Splitter to the back for a reference of what slide is on. Then that opens up a screen that you can dedicate for broadcast
2. Upgrade to the Extrenal PCIe Chassis that I laid out later in this video.. then you'll have up to four video outs that you can use (Not counting the computer's second display)
Just wondering if I will make a place holder in display instead and make that dedicated to broadcast that will work as well right?
A placeholder display has no output. You can create a placeholder and then assign it to an output later

the other way to do this is to get an Apple TV and use it to connect your main screen. works flawlessly. we have been using it for 2 years.
