Murgs the best in Leeds. Billy Murg special with curry sauce one side and mushy peas on the other washed down with a pot of tea is the way forward.

The family and I were a little early for our flight back to Amsterdam from LBA, and we called in here. I'd always wanted to call in here since it was trading under the Harry Ramsden banner.
The wife is/was Russian, my son half Russian/half British, my step-daughter half Russian/half Dutch...and we were all blown away by the quality of the fish and chips.
An honourable mention for quality fish and chips must go to Sullivan's in Hornsea. Delectable.

Love Murgatroyd’s. Always our go to place for an evening meal. We usually stay across the road at the Premier Inn the night before our holiday flights from Leeds-Bradford. Fish and chips never disappoint. Tasty and great value 👍🏼🍟😁. Fully concur with your 9.2 out of 10 score.

I still pretty much swear by Fishers of Hunstanton I love my fish and chip dinners on our many day trips and have eaten a lot but this place is the ceiling not many get close!!!!
I can’t be bothered to argue about what you ate because I have also eaten there many times I would give it 6.5. You can get really good fish and chips all over in Grimsby cleethorpes skegness mabelthorpe Scarborough London and many other places. It’s not about the fish as much as the way they cook it. Very good food at mr chips in Louth Lincolnshire. But what you ate was average I’m sorry to say. Keep searching for good food and you will find it. Keep up the good work.

Been there once as we were flying from LBA a few hours later,i wouldn't go as far to say they are the best to be honest they are very average and for the price i would expect a lot better.The little chippie across the road was brilliant before Murgatroyds arrived but it soon closed down due to the vast size and location of Murgatroyds such a shame.

The fish & chips are excellent & like you say - a special mention for the fish batter - it couldn't be better.
The mushy peas are okay but nothing special - a little bit more work needs to be done there inorder to match the excellent fish & chips.

Watched it, looks good but what you don't understand is everything changes throughout the year / seasons. That includes potatoes fish even batter. None are a constant.

Murgatroyds are pretty good fish n chips above average but they are not particularly note worthy for note worthy fish n chips try west Vale fisheries in Elland just a little street corner chippy can only fit half a dozen bodies inside but there's usually about 20 out side really good old fashioned fish and chips wrapped up in paper and a very reasonable price fish n chips about a fiver tops excellent!!

I wouldn't say it's the best chippy in Leeds, that title will always go to Drake's on Potternewton Lane, but I've never had more generous portions than from here

okay the only 10 from you was the mobile fish and chips. if they are that good why do not open a shop in Leeds and sell to thousands not hundreds. My score for the fish and chips from a look point of view is a 7
with all the outstanding fish and chip shops in Scotland, Ireland and Wales it's ridiculous to even suggest that this particular outlet has " Britain's finest fish and chips " ,,, have you tried the Anstruther fish bar in Fife Scotland ,,,, fantastic fish and chips, won many awards ,, how many awards has Murgatroyd's won ??
I think the fact that its in Scotland is enough to put anyone off. All those miserable, angry, and skint people with funny accents would put me right off!!

we like murgs but inside the restaurant as with a lot of these restaurants and I know there isn't supposed to be a difference but the food inside is much better than the out sales down the road in what used to be harry ramsdens is the same although not even close to being as good as murgs old harry will be spinning in his grave god rest him at how poor his old place has become

Don't agree there - the fish & chips are no better or no worse than the takeaway side of the restaurant.
It's purely psychological - indeed some people would say the opposite - it tastes better eating alfresco - especially in the summer.
I'd dare bet it's exactly the same people that cook for both areas.
One thing is for certain - whether it's inside or outside you choose to dine, the results are the same - both are fantastic!😋
@@lucee2261 I hear what your saying but there is a definite difference in the restaurant is superior to the out sales not only here but there are others where this is the case too if you'd ever been to frier tucks in Bradford or websters in Baildon the same applies restaurant is much better in than out maybe its because the out sale area has product sat whereas the food in the seated side is freshly cooked to the plate, who knows but there is a very obvious difference we go a lot, fish and chips is very much a favorite.

I just dumped a comment on Darrens China town vlog and then I find you into Fish n Chips...........Im on the fence what I need eat today you pair are doing a number on me. Fish on the chips not so sure, Mushy peas way to thick..........Scottish we like our Brown Chippie sauce........... its an easy 9 for me.
