As a hearing impaired person, who loves listening to all kinds of music, as well as doing my bit to learn an instrument, 🎸, can I just say that Dame Evelyn Glennie is my personal music heroine.
She's done so much, for so long, and soooo well, that she deserves all the accolades she's received, & more! 😁
I ABSOLUTLY LOVE First Aid kits contribution to the Polar Music awards for Emmylou Harris! They are TRULY MAGICAL together as EMMLOU HARRIS in her talented life of music!!!!!!
A lot of credit to Sweden for giving this award to Emylou Harris. I don't know another musician/songwriter who is truly collaborative on the national and international stage like Emylou Harris. Sweden is very appropriate for this award, an unabashed international country.
I couldn't have said it better ! Emmylou is legendary and of course Dame Evelyn Glennie (sp?) one of my heroes (most folks don't know about her) as I play classical music.
I agree Sweden always seems on right side of everything, especially where Emmylou is concerned.
Wow, Evelyn Glennie's speech at 23:00 is wonderful.
Emmy still looks and sounds great. I just love her!
+pwreric yes I met her twice in nyc and gave her my cd.....love her since the old days 1975 when she sang on Dylans Desire album
Beautiful
Dame Evelyn Glennie played a one-off concert with Steve Hackett at the Royal Festival Hall in 2002. He very much enjoyed the improv collaboration. She is outstanding as a musician and a person.

Thank you dude.
They left out their original song! Check out the UA-cam video of them singing it to her at the ceremony.
@@alika207 yeah where was that in this video??
wow emmylou speech about her parents was so emotianal for me lost my dad 7 years ago
At 40:35 Emmylou says "There have been people who told me that my music has helped them through really really terrible times". She's right. I know : I'm one of them. "The ballad of Sally Rose" : "Heart to heart", "Diamond in my crown", "Sweet Chariot"...
So tell us what was the terrible part? Death, disease, divorce??
@@avacadovich In my case, severe depression
@@tahititoutou3802 Hope life is more manageable. The complexities of our world at large and within the confines of our homes and communities can overwhelm us. Thank you for naming the songs you did; despite being 63, only now am I immersing myself in the music of this wonderful woman.
All the best to you.
@@avacadovich Why do the terrible parts belong to you?! No one owes you their story. We all have a story of loss, sadness, and depression. No one has lived life without being touched by something terrible. Look at your own story and realize it might be universal. No one owes you anything.
@@tahititoutou3802 Finding peace sometimes seems insurmountable. I hope you have found your peace.
Every time I watch Emmy’s stuff my IPad gets all wet.
So does mine 😁
You guys should'n't be using your iPads in the bathtub : ) Of course I'm just kidding . . . I understand your sentiment and share it wholeheartedly - Emmylou really IS special - Very special
Emmylou, I too was deeply affected in a positive way by your music when I needed it most. Thank you!
@EmmylouLouHarris Yeah right.
May God Bless You, Emmylou.
That opening orchestra number - makes me really miss my orchestra days! Sure wish I had carried onto to college music. Dame gave a beautiful speech. Seeing her teacher with tears in his eyes made me choke up. I came here for Emmy Lou Harris but this was great to watch. I'm so glad they used Goodbye it's a beautiful song. I just can't get into the experimental sounds though. It hurts my ears (classically trained).
Isn't there some natural law that has been violated for so much musical talent to be in one place at the same time?
Dame Evelyn Glennie is an artist, while Emmylou is a singer for the soul. -- Hans Rosenthal (A.H.R.D.)
Stunning!
The trio was wonderful.
Loved is an understatement.
Really good / like this ...
Pure grace.
Love them both!
Tulsa queen .... bringing people together, rendition par excellent
Performances estelares reunidas numa cerimônia belíssima! ♡
* Muito simpática a postura da Família Real, sem a pompa normalmente associada aos nobres.
Homenagens merecidas, prestadas magistralmente.
*GRAN EMMYLOU HARRIS..🤠
Wow tragic hair day. That was amazing.
oh gosh... makes me cry with joy every time I hear Emmylou. And percussion by Dame Evelyn Glennie in my heart!
Cool drummer
Who was the lady playing the drums?
Beautiful speech by Emmylou.
I see Martin and Gibson are king in Sweden as well but what was that the guy in the orchestra was playing? It almost looked like Memphis on the headstock. surely not though
It would've been nice with more of Emmylou, more of her singing! But I guess you can't make a guest sing haha.
Oh yes you can! In many hommage concerts, the honored guess was invited to sing!
who else thinks emmylou was singing red dirt girl thru these girls via telepathy....
Nazareth Forever !
Can anyone tell me who the artist is that sang Emmy Lou's "Can You Hear Me Now" while he played a Ukulele? Thanks!!
Never mind! Just now found out it is Loney Dear, a Swedish Songwriter and performer. :)
It's a mandolin, not an ukulele. ;-)
Yeah - twice as many strings
@@shurshot2764 Right! The ukelele is fun, but the mandolin is a serious piece of business! I still love playing my faithful cheap Romanian mandolin I bought in London over 40 years ago. Speaking of mandolins, check out the phenomenal Sam Bush (e.g. in Emmylou's Nash Ramblers), he looks like the younger brother I never had...
@@pauldavidmartin8062
You should check out just how much 'fun' the ukulele really is, when in the hands of The Ukelele Orchestra of Great Britain!
They regularly blow the roof off at their concerts, playing their 'toys'!
Who is the singer of Goodbye? TY.
please, who are the singers performing Emmy's songs?thanx
+larciabella whish i knew. she was perfect as Emmy
+pwreric first aid kit was one group
I am talking about cute little blond that sang twice, once by herself. she has the voice of an angel and great confidence on the stage
+pwreric Anna Ternheim. I guess, mean her.?
They are called FIRST AID KIT
@40:26 - Is that Rodney Crowell in foreground singing harmony????
Yes, it is.
Yep, it's from the 1975 London Victoria Theatre concert, and I was there, folks!
Love hurts was nice, but nothing else.
Ronnie Spriggs
The speech of EH before such and such majesties etc. is so alike of the oath of some Soviet Pioneer Virgine Girl that it makes me thrill: to get rid of the Soviets just for reason to get back in the USSR? Shame upon me!
@EmmylouLouHarris
I'm fluttered really with YOUR fragrant answer, but YOU should know: your connecting with me may carry very bad consequences (be polite for my orthografy) even for You Yourself, Lady of my heart...
@EmmylouLouHarris
Even so, My Lady, but it'so sorrowful: not me, but You are in Danger. 🙋
If I were a citizen of the USSR, it would be much easy to be IN CONTACT.(
Musicians..sorry for techno typing bullshit
Watch your mouth, damn!
John Cage is still shit. So there’s that.
Some clowns at the start of this...my god
Who owns the clown crown? This was majestic from start to end !
