Back in about 1988 someone had written "Method Air!! yeah!!" on a wall in town, guessing it was a skateboarder. i knew it was a jump but till this moment didnt know what the "method" part meant 31 years later and now i know.. thanks.
all the best
Haha that's awesome! Yep the Method in skateboarding and snowboarding is also a popped out mute!
Major props for this, your format, filming, and editing are all on point. It's really nice to see well-done tutorial/educational blading vids.
Thanks dude I appreciate that!
This is awesome thanks. I find most "how toos" go very quick and just show you how(Jump into it, do this, land)with no real thought into smaller break down. They seem to assume you have a set knowledge of terms or moves. I like this. Keep them up. 😁
i’m about to get so creative thank you for this video
Have fun!
A huge thank you! I love your airs and to have you break it down is so helpful.
Glad you got something out of it!
Thanks! That was super helpful to lay it out in one video. Much needed...
No problem! Glad it helped!
Love it nice work 👍👊
Thank you for this resource!
Greatest video ever :) keep returning to see what to learn next. Safety done. Today “landed” the Mute. Thanks mate for this vid!
Awesome! Glad to hear this helped! Love the mute!
Thanks for the video man, this is great.
Thanks for watching!
I'm glad I found this as I'm still trying to figure out a good way to put this together for Book of Grinds. I like the breakdown of the Safety/Mute/Stale and how they can be applied to different grabs, never really though of it that way!
Glad it helped! Love Book of Grinds btw!
I just filled my trick list back up! So hyped to get to the park
Nice! Go get it!
Thank you, really helpful! 👍👍👍
No problem 👍 Glad you liked it!
I think is a mix between many sport but most ski an snow board
Very nice, awesome video! Thank you very much for your explanations and examples!
Thank you for your content too! Love the channel!
@Thirty and Rollin Thank you! 🙂🙏
very nice vid. i would love to see more for people learning, grinds, flips, obstacles, general , terminology, names of parts of skates, anything, if you plan on doing more
Great feedback! I will work some more videos in along those lines.
very nice advice...i must confess i read "shitty air"...something that should be considered is judging the time in the air needed to do those moves, obviously the longer the air, the longer the time available, but riders need a good second in the air to complete the full movement and land safely. Stockwell has a killer liu-kang in his 2014 XSJADO video. I'll echo what Chris (inline struggle) said, you have a very nice fluid style to your riding, airs look natural and not forced!! thanks for the videos, they are great
Hahahaaha that's awesome! I like "shitty air" better lol. That is extremely true, you need a few seconds in air to pull of a solid grab and not just tap it or not have enough time to land. I always say get comfy with a few second of hang time and them start throwing in grabs. As always thanks for the support!
I love doing 360 Method Mutes 😎.
Nice one, I haven't seen any tutorials about grabs. And you're right, the trick names almost all come from skateboarding except for Liu Kang I think.
Ya just figured I would at least get some basics down.
Nice vid. I'm just now getting confident with jumping/getting air, so I next I need to get the first three basic grabs down!
Nice! Just make sure to bring your knees up, it will be loads easier to do grabs!
@@ThirtyandRollin Thanks!! I'm still too nervous that I won't get them back down in time and I'll face plant...hahaha
Thank you
You're welcome!
this is good
Thanks!
Best rocket grab I have ever seen was Ryan Jacklone doing a rocket misty flip over a hip xgames 96.
O yes that was epic!
This guy is super informative. Love the videos. It really sucks that he's not a nice guy in real life. I really wanted to believe he'd be as awesome to skate with. I've never met the guy but had several skaters tell me not to skate with him. Super unfriendly.
Lol seems odd to be spreading information that you don't actually know to be true. Not sure what the point of a comment like this achieves. I have been called an introvert which is true but never unfriendly. I love skating with others when I have time. If you are ever in the area I offer the opportunity to come skate with me!
@@ThirtyandRollin it's entirely possible that the bend Oregon blading community misread introversion as unfriendliness. Basically, what I was told was you were here in central Oregon and cold shouldered a few bladers who were stoked to meet you. I'm now thinking it was likely just introversion. I'm on a labor day weekend Portland skate trip till Monday. I expect you would be hesitant to skate with me since I kinda judged you harshly but real talk... I'd be stoked to meet you. You kinda got me back into this sport.
@@bamboofort That's odd. I only get over to Bend to skate a few time a year. Never seen any other blader's in the wild while there. I have seen and skated with a quad skater and a few scooter peeps while I was there though. Always happy to shred to with a fellow blader!
10:48 Hi, is a “Thread” also possible in skating? I mean threading the leg through the grab from mute to stale or vise versa?
Good question! I know people have done it but not sure it's called a thread or not.
Thirty and Rollin thank you for your reply! Meanwhile Ricardo Lino answered me that it’s named „thread the needle“. Check our comments of his video ua-cam.com/video/254vfT60fSo/v-deo.html
@@2be_2last Cool never heard that used but makes sense!
What is this trick called!
Picture doing a Kang but i am cross grabbing with my right hand grabbing my right foot frame, which is my tucked in leg while grabbing the front wheel of my left blade with my left hand in full extension?
Or in Kang but grabbing right tucked blade frame with left hand and grabbing left blade front wheel with right hand with full extension? I do this 1 alot. The other i just thought about and are gonna try it lol. Sounds very difficult.
whats up with the arm strap? rotator cuff injury? I can do everything you have shown in my welcome back tour starting beginning of summer but I forgot so many trick names. thanks and if your ever in silveron give a shout. I'm 37 in a week and I'm doing flatspins again after 12 years. learning to fall again this summer was a hard truth. I cant recover for shit, so don't fall and that means just flowing. appreciate your content man!
Flatspins??!!! Nice man! I really want to flat 3 over the spine at Reedville but old and scared lol. The arm band is an immobilizer for my shoulder. Had surgery on it but still comes out too easy so I learned to roll with a band. Thanks for the support!
@@ThirtyandRollin only know the shoulder because I to have had the surgery and its still a toss up if it goes out but Ive managed to get through the summer with only one lethal weapon lol.
@@bobbydixon4484 haha nice, I haven't had it come out on me since I put this band on, knock on wood.
is Stale Liu-Kang grab like Japan grab on skis?
Hi again! I did some further research on the web and instagram hashtag and I
came to the conclusion that the (liu kang) stale grab (220 #) is meanwhile more spread under the name japan grab (1k #) or are the two positions different and one is perhaps more famous? Unfortunately I wasn't able to find out the name of a (saftey) liu kang & method (so the pulling the grab in a back bend). I saw that also with famous skiers, but here neither I didn't find (yet) the commonly used name (seems that it would be "brebis" meaning sheep in french)... do you know it? Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and cheers from Stuttgart Germany!
I have never heard of Brebis. I think tricks have a few different names depending on where you come from.
Thirty and Rollin yeah you’re right and what is the name (for a safety + method + liu-kang) in community?
@@2be_2last I'm not sure if I have hear of a specific name for that.
Thirty and Rollin ok thanks... let me know the day you randomly learn it 😊
@@2be_2last Haha ok.
i was always under the impression a liu-kang was grabbing your skate from behind the leg you kick out, you could do it on either side left or right foot but whatever skate you were grabbing had to be grabbed from behind the leg that was kicked out o.o'
honestly i feel like the "Safety Grab" could use a name update... like don't you grab around the soul plate?? wouldn't it sound much better if it was renamed the "Soul Grab"
like doesn't that just roll off the tongue much better soul grab, just say it 😄
I agree! I have never liked that grab name.
When did the Sifty get an Air trick?!? It was a variation for the Royale-Grind, the Sifty-Royal. And you forgot the Flying Fish, which is basically a Grabed Fishbrain.
What is fly fish
Many of the inline grabs were inspired by the freestyle skiing community. The Stale Liu Kang's real name is Japan.
Ahhhhh good to know! Thank you!
I’m good at Japan airs on skis so I want to try one. Damn broken arm isn’t helping
May I have this song?
I think it's called Coupe from the UA-cam Audio Library.
@@ThirtyandRollin would you happen to know who it’s by?
@@ThirtyandRollin never mind. I see where I messed up. I found it. Thank you so much.
Great tutorial Sir! Everything from filming, the explanation and even the post prod quality! Btw, in my opinion Damien Wilson has the best rocket grab! Haven't seen anyone did it as fluid as him. And Danny Aldridge!!!
Agreed they have great style!
