Have u also tried some mousse in your roots before brushing to help keep the frizz down ? Also do you use oil on your hair often ?

    Important is it possible for most people to have a hair pattern that only needs to be sponge to get the sections but then like after a month or 2 once the sections of the starter locs are shown , they just need cold water , a cap at night , and maybe just a little finger twisting or twirling?? And even from short hair they can freeform just cause the hair is easy to lock and very kinky ,

    I got a question I have a reference to how thick I want my locs to be when they are matured in the future however I am wondering should I get them smaller or just try and make them as close as possible to the thickness as possible. • @TheGrossDemon
      @TheGrossDemon 4 місяці тому

      If it's not too late to put in my input, but I think you should go with slightly thinner than you want them to be. They will thicken up as your hair locs up. But depending on your hair type you wanna make them a good enough size for your hair to support. Like I have thin curly hair, and my first set of locs (33 in total) were very thick but stable, my current set (62 locs) is thinner in places, and my small/thin locs tend to fall off at the bottom because the parts that haven't locked can't support the lower parts.

      I been locked up for ab 8 months freeforming and all I can tell u is you should just go for it and find what suits you
      Embrace every stage and every time you have a hard time with dandruff or frizz you’ll learn better techniques and what works for you
      Washing your hair everyday isn’t the worst thing ever but remember that nobody except maybe people with straight hair( it’s bad for them too) washes their hair everyday
      It strips your hair from natural oils that’s why
      It’s normal for your locs to itch in the beginning because that your scalp getting adapted to the hairstyle
      The more mature it is the less you’ll have the wash it
      Or at least more seldom
      I personally wash my hair every two or three weeks and rarely do a month without washing
      Sometimes I even wash it only a week after i previously washed it
      It depends on how you’re feeling and how your scalps feeling
      Before I started locking I washed my hair and left it for a month without scratching it and then started washing every 1-2 weeks
      Just go for it bro!
      Btw salt water( for example in flotation tanks) strips your hair from its proteins and can be very damaging if you let it stay for long
      With that being said good luck on your journey bro!

    • @choppsticc
      @choppsticc Рік тому

      @@junelkori5804. Saltwater can actually help promote locking bro. Like he said it’s if it’s in for too long since it strips your hair.
      So after swimming in say the ocean, that can be good for promoting the locking process, just make sure when you get home you wash your hair and moisturize it.
      Obv this will have to be when your hair is starting to bud alr. But if you free form it won’t matter. If you’re not free forming then yea wait til budding.
      Edit: just realized u said you’re gonna crochet. If you crochet in instant locs then they won’t come out anyway. In that case yea the saltwater will be good for making them mature faster, cause instant locs aren’t instantly mature they still go thru maturing. Jus like I said wash and moisturize after.
      Also I personally wash twice a week and just moisturize when my hair feels or looks too dry.
      Once a week is good for most people tho so I’d start there and wash more if needed or less if needed.
      Experience: have had my dreads for 8 years.
