    At my shop in Starke, FL, it's my experience dreds are usually FILTHY, to the extent I refuse to serve these people with the fine art I provide as a master barber. My only black clients are those who wear short, clean haircuts where the entire scalp is easily accessible for inspection of lice, fleas, ticks, bedbugs, etc, etc.

      Yes ur gonna have some type of buildup from ur scalp sebum and dandruff but you can prevent a lot of it by using the right products and keeping ur hair clean along with detoxing every few months. Also cover ur hair cuz lint buildup is the most common type

      Maybe if you get retwists & use certain products. There will probably be product build up. But I've had semi freeform locs for years and haven't had build up. But I don't use much products & make sure to wash my hair regularly.

    yo gunther i tried the crochet method and it worked but after like 2 weeks they felt itchy so i combed them out and somehow the front was shorter then the back idk why so i got a haircut so its the same length also i know your gonna say i used it wrong but im in the uk and i cant sign up for ur classes can u make some in the uk also i have straight hair and im gonna try 2 strand twist with mango locking gel is that a good idea to get my dreads to look like Trent Alexander Arnold Thanks

      The itch comes wit havin dreadlocks so if u don’t wanna deal wit get some anti itch oil or sumn, when combing out LOCKED dreads ur bound to lose length but i think the front ended up being shorter cuz u might’ve been too rough combing them out but I could be wrong.

      Naw if you want skinner locs when you get a retwist have them palm roll the whole loc doing this every time you retwist will make them smaller facts i have loc and had them for 8 years over 100 locs waist length

    • @nikdi5743
      @nikdi5743 9 місяців тому

      Locs are supposed to unravel during starter loc stages. You continue to wash your hair as normal. This is the reason hen you first start locs, you should have a professional to do frequent re twists until they are more mature. Apple cider vinegar is not necessary on starter locs….just a great clarifying shampoo

      Have you tried adjustable bonnets that you tie yourself? I can't stand one size fits all bonnets but the ones I can tie myself allow me to get a comfortable fit. If still not an option satin pillowcases, satin sheets, and satin pajama tops will go a long way. Make sure you have a bunch of lint rollers as well to periodically de-lint everything your hair comes in contact with.

      Have you tried the neck gaiters? It's a thin cloth covering you can use as a mask or head band. I used them as a face covering when covid hit. Now I use them as a head band. It covers the whole length of my starter locs and is light weight. Not too tight, but tight enough that is stays on and keeps my retwist in place.
