Just from personal experience I suggest washing whenever you feel necessary everyone's hair produces oils at different rates so some can get by with a week before the hair becomes greasy some like me can't got 3 days without it becoming oily. I also find that wetting it everyday makes the process section itself much more evenly than if I Just washed my body with wetting my hair. it's only been about a week since i started freeform (before this i gad 3 seperate sets of dreads) and I can feel some locked hair sectioning itself from the rest
Yeah I have afro hair type 4c and it takes like 48 hours for my hair to become a greasy disgusting mess. by day 3-4 my sensitive ass scalp will start to get irritated and if I'm super unlucky the buildup causes scalp sores. I'm on month 3 of my dread journey its going extremely slow because I wet my hair daily, but I'd rather have a healthy scalp and longer time in the rough period than deal with that shit.
MrWickk glad someone else gets it like all the videos will tell you there hairs wash cycle not yours people need to stop trying to make the process so clinical just wash and dry and youll be fine that all it takes
tbh i uncombed my hair around September and now my hair has completely locked. it happened pretty fast. i just woke up one day with dreads on my head lol
I really want dreds! Now that I know I can get free form dreds I am exited! And I don’t care what my family will think they may not approve but I don’t care!! It’s a more protective style and I love the look of them!! Yay!! Thanks for the info!!
Brad BRO GET DREADS FUCK WHAT THE PEOPLE SAY IM BLACK AND IM TELLIN YOU THIS!! your comment was 8 months ago but i hope you went through w it and didnt let anybody stop you.
ImNotARapper personal preference but I prefer to wash my hair 2 to 3 times a week but I wet it everyday, it may take longer but my hair feels alot more clean than if I waited a week or two between washing that's just in hygienic imo
I have dead straight hair, and *freeform dreads ARE possible for anyone!* The only thing you have to do is *wash your hair with RESIDUE FREE Shampoo/soap!* Freeform dreads are not for everyone though. I do have freeform dreads just to be clear, however only 6 so far, and that's after several years. The rest will happen when they happen. I can live with that though. Could you?
PoopiePants69 yeah, the good thing is my dreads are not noticeable because I rock a fro, but if I single out parts of my hair, I have a couple dreads in one section. I wash my hair 2 times a week
Yeah, just stop using special products or salon methods. The only things you have to do are wash your hair (preferably with a residue-free shampoo and avoiding shampoos with conditioners in them), dry your hair, and then keep congos and rat nests from forming (unless that's what you're going for). The old salon-locks will either stay put or loosen up and re-lock naturally depending on how you had them done in the first place, and the hair at the base will begin to lock naturally.
Thanks a lot this is exactly what I needed to know. I’ve been using a sponge to keep the twist on top looking good but other then that little rub when I wake up that’s it
I had dreads before but my mom fucked them up so I just untangled all of them so I'm back to the fro. The problem with my hair is that if I put water in my hair it shrinks. I been trying the sponge and not washing my hair but my hair untangles then I have to twist them again with my hands. Shit is d.a annoying so any ideas?
New listener, so I'm guessing it's best not to use any conditioner since it acts as a moisturizer? Where shampoo dries your hair out more then moisturize?
So..basically..you just wash it, dry it but don't comb it? It sounds easy, but how long does it take for the hair to start to form dreads on its own? A couple of months or what?
As a native African adopted to Finnish family, i never really knew what my hair was up to as it used to curl up extremely tightly and basically block any air from getting into my scalp. So i used to basically just let my mum shave my hair off like once per 1-2 months. But when I moved out on my own, i decided to try and see if my hair would grow any taller than around 5cm (curled) So you can imagine how surprised I was when suddenly i started sprouting few of those locks on my head after like 2 years of just Washing my hair with shampoo just like you said. Now my hair is basically on the freeform stage and those locks are just getting longer and longer. What is weird is how almost every time-lapse video shows how people has that middle stage, that looks like loose afro. But my hair went straight from the short and tight to locks. It never really resembled anything that anyone could call afro.
Looks cool and all but only bad thing about congos is the longer your hair iz the less dreds you would have which to me is a bad look. I personally have just 1 congo i try to stay away from letting them congo up although everytime i wash my hair my locs desperately wants to congo up lol. But man your hair is dope regardless
When he says wash your hair, does he mean run it under water or using your hands to wash and fir drying is it a gentle dry with a towel or are you rubbing the towel on your head?
Hey Gunther are u white or mixed just wondering cause I am mostly white just about 10 percent African and wanted to know I have really kinky hair so can I get dresds
Best way get dreads free ;if you are africanAmerican ; but if you are European, your dream can last a long time.If you have straight hair best way do dreadlocks at salon
I haven't decided yet, but I've been thinking about starting freeform dreads. I'm not sure though because I have pretty greasy hair. Would I be able to have freeform dreads with greasy hair?
I have long thick curly hair and i was out of the country I couldn’t was my hair for like 3 weeks shyt was dirty lol but my shyt was locking when i got hom and went to get it washed and braided she was you got baby locks
I’m confused. So if I wash my hair 1-2 times a week then dry it off then repeat I’ll have long locs eventually? I figured ur hair would just be in Afro form but nappy as fuck
How does it lock like that? I mean because everyone washes there hair and dries it so you mean wash your hair with just straight water? No shampoo and conditioners?
I have short african hair and when I don't comb it it reallyy starts to loc up but I want to get them done by a loctitian first then just do the rest by myself. My problem is I'd like them to be made how my hair locs them up in different sizes. I don't see many non uniform style locs. Is it possible to get a loctician to start ur locs up with some thin and some thicker?
thanks for the info. great video

@Killer of the Semetism snitch
Absolutely NOOOOO questions are needed!!! He said it at least twenty times!
Some fool will still come asking the same thing.
Some fool here. How FREQUENTLY do you wash your hair for freeforming locks?
So Flowers Gaming just when you feel your hair is dirty wash it and dry it just dont brush it
so white people can't do this?
@@Dewey_Boondye420 it doesn't matter what race you are anybody on this planet with hair on their head can get freeform dreads
@@bigbenz7359 If I get dreads how do i make sure my hair doesn’t smell like shit. I’m used to washing my hair very frequently

This is great info. No more retwisting for me. Gonna let my interlocks free form from this point on.
Ive got about 18 semi-free infant dreads. About a week and a half in. From hair grown out in a year and two months. My hair grows hella fast

Yo Gotti I'd wash mine from time to time and put moisturizer in it never again xD
I disagree your hair won’t twist just by neglecting it
How often should I wash my hair when starting out

PoopiePants69 I'm pissed I have like 6 dreads and the rest of my head is curly, I'm mixed so I have curly hair, not nappy
tBoocup I have straight Caucasian/Native Canadian hair. If I actually washed it more often I'd probably have more dreads.
PoopiePants69 yeah, the good thing is my dreads are not noticeable because I rock a fro, but if I single out parts of my hair, I have a couple dreads in one section. I wash my hair 2 times a week
no
Thank you bro. Simple. To the point. Well received
The only person that pleases me with his AWESOMENESS
I started freeform dreads today.I can’t wait to see growth!!!!
update?
What’s the instrumental playing in the background?
Should you also be conditioning your hair? Shampoo and condition or just shampoo only?
I love what you had to say I saw your video before but it sounds different today since I really listen to it thank you for sharing
Free form is what i got i hate when ppl say they for freeform but started with twist and section it makes no sense
Can you turn locs into free form
Yeah, just stop using special products or salon methods. The only things you have to do are wash your hair (preferably with a residue-free shampoo and avoiding shampoos with conditioners in them), dry your hair, and then keep congos and rat nests from forming (unless that's what you're going for). I wish I'd known about free-form dreadlocks when I started growing my hair
Its never too late to start over
What kind of dreads do you have Gunther ?

I know this is (probably) a dumb question but ...... will running your hands constantly in your hair undo the process of dreadlocking?
always giving us knowledge on dreads thanks bro
good video bruh, do you know if an afro will still grow if some of your dreads are locked at the root?
my favorite UA-camr 🙏
this guy is the king of dreads!!
Bro I swear he be explaining dreads sooo good like I understand everything he saying
Are you supposed to wet your hair and dry every day?
New listener, so I'm guessing it's best not to use any conditioner since it acts as a moisturizer? Where shampoo dries your hair out more then moisturize?
NO CONDITIONER
How long do you plan on getting them?? Just curious!! I kinda want dreads!!!!
Can you wear hats while starting this journey?
This answers everything👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
Stupid question, should u still brush your hair or is it better not too
So..basically..you just wash it, dry it but don't comb it? It sounds easy, but how long does it take for the hair to start to form dreads on its own? A couple of months or what?
I like how he said don’t have to sponge rub but a sponge is in the thumbnail
do you wash your hair with shampoo and conditioner or just shampoo?
I’m not sure whether I can get dreadlocks, any opinion will help
Con You get from normal dreads to freeform?
What about cleaning and conditioning your hair once you have the locks? Will it mess them up?
As a native African adopted to Finnish family, i never really knew what my hair was up to as it used to curl up extremely tightly and basically block any air from getting into my scalp.
So i used to basically just let my mum shave my hair off like once per 1-2 months.

Hinuk Mattila you probably have 4c type hair my friend the tightest curl pattern
Bruh I didn't even know I was getting dreads until someone asked if I had free form dreads. I had to hit up google to find out what they were.
how you start
Can I get freeform dreads if I only use leave in conditioner in my hair
It is impossible to have dread if you put any sort of conditioner in it only shampoo
Great video bro!!! God bless you!!!
Is allowing your hair to freeform lock healthy for it?
Hi, I already have dreads, but I want to start free form.. How do I start? Do I have to cut my dreads I already have?
Jody Hogan no
id say just wet your hair a few times a week and let it dry
don't get retwists and just do washes every week
Wash don't dry
Looks cool and all but only bad thing about congos is the longer your hair iz the less dreds you would have which to me is a bad look. I personally have just 1 congo i try to stay away from letting them congo up although everytime i wash my hair my locs desperately wants to congo up lol. But man your hair is dope regardless
Can you use Molly hair? or do you have a recommended here that's better to use?
How often should i wash my hair with shampoo? im about to start & could use some recommendations on what to buy to maintain and keep my hair healthy
When he says wash your hair, does he mean run it under water or using your hands to wash and fir drying is it a gentle dry with a towel or are you rubbing the towel on your head?
this work on long hair too? and should i put my hair in a ponytail or use a hair brush?
If I leave curling conditioner in my hair will it still lock up? Or should I stop putting in my hair?
he reminds me of a lighter skinned amine
XyzzyZone aminé has thic dreads
If you already have dreads is it too late to freeform them
GUNther THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS VIDEO!! all i needed was this info
Hey Gunther are u white or mixed just wondering cause I am mostly white just about 10 percent African and wanted to know I have really kinky hair so can I get dresds
Does it count as freeform if you towel dry‽ Technically it's towelrubbing right?
Do u wash your hair with bronners every night?
I'm white and have thick brown hair
Should I get dreads? Or not
I don't get it where do the dreads come from if all you do is wash your hair hows it gonna go from a fro to dreads that doesn't make sense
Best way get dreads free ;if you are africanAmerican ; but if you are European, your dream can last a long time.If you have straight hair best way do dreadlocks at salon
So if I do nothing and just grow out my black hair, it will naturally lock up ?
So just wash it everyday then just towel dry or blow dry to let it tangle up?
Don’t bully me for asking 😂
Survival Specialist yeah pretty much
When he said 2 to 3 Year’s I was hell nah
Do you need to use shampoo because I don't and my hair at the back is starting to mat out a bit
Freeform is NOT neglect!! I hate when people say that.
If it's wet do you have to let it Air Dry or Hair Dryer
Can yu just use shampoo Nd get free form dreads by washing your wit shampoo only
Ok so I am white but I have super coarse hair and I’m just wondering if there is a certain way to dry my hair or to let it air dry??
Thank you for helping me out with dreads
how frequently are you supposed to wash you hair?
Wash your hair whenever you want to
I haven't decided yet, but I've been thinking about starting freeform dreads. I'm not sure though because I have pretty greasy hair. Would I be able to have freeform dreads with greasy hair?
Hi, i have semi course and curly hair. Im wondering what i should do to get my dreads like playboi carti
Can i put oil if I'm trying to get Dreadlocks?
Bro I googled this and you first that popped up .. that’s wassup.. thanks for the advice
Did nothing with my hair for about 2 years and got dreads. Got bolt straight hair too. Pagans believe they get put in by the fae. Elf knots
Am I supposed to use conditioner when washing it
You should do a video on crotchet into freeform transformation
Underated comment
I have long thick curly hair and i was out of the country I couldn’t was my hair for like 3 weeks shyt was dirty lol but my shyt was locking when i got hom and went to get it washed and braided she was you got baby locks

Question tho, is it okay to at least get a light temp fade in the beginning stages? I gotta stay clean cut
Are freeform harder to take out with hot water
Can I go from normal dreads to freedoms?🤔Can someone give me a answer please
i have a question. what if i do exactly what you just said BUT i do sponge rub?
My hair gets super greasy super quick. Any way i can get dreads? Thats literally the only thing i want my hair to be now
can a type 3A-3B hair get freeform dreads????
How does it lock like that? I mean because everyone washes there hair and dries it so you mean wash your hair with just straight water? No shampoo and conditioners?
leonel sosa only use shampoo when you need it and don't condition, or comb it
love your vids
I have short african hair and when I don't comb it it reallyy starts to loc up but I want to get them done by a loctitian first then just do the rest by myself.
