The new one looks like I remembered the original.
The original never looked that bad.
Nostalgia is a powerfull filter
This comment sums very well what every remake should aim for
That's BS and you know it
This comment again lol. It sounds romantic but then again so does most crap.
The crazy part is that when i was young and playing the original, it looked and felt like the new one to me, Makes me feel super old.
Super old...
Hey Bro I turned 30 2 days ago, I know what you mean
played the original day one when i was in highschool. now i'm 36 and having a crazy throwback with this remake.

If only I aged as well as this game has :(
Yeah both comments above me or aging with serious defects
Absolute no improvements!!!
Still better than dying tho
lol.. "aged well" is not something you can call on a game that got a remaster / remake. It is like plastic surgery. Or a game that has been reborn.
"Aged well" is something that you can say on old, original games that does not have been re-released (in a remaster or remake) and is still enjoyable gameplay and or graphical whise. For example: A Link to the Past. Or Symphony of the night. Still enjoyable graphical and gameplay whise (pixels art style somehow dont really age). Or look at Street Fighter 3rd Strike. Or South Park Stick of truth. These won't really age without someone needing to upgrade the graphics and gameplay. These games age well.
And well... crash didn't. But its no surprise. The first 3d games were awful, compared to modern graphics. This game needed an update, and they did it really well. :)
Won't age that bad again. Great job, developers.
@@Moeppel112 Somewhat off-topic but the lower sound quality in SNES games bothers me a bit, inlcuding A Link to the Past. But that's probably not what people talk about regarding a game aging well.
The original CTR will always be nostalgic and have a place in my heart, but the team did a great job remastering the game. The fact that they have all the tracks from the original and expanded on that is fantastic! 10/10. Love where Crash Bandicoot is heading and am excited to see what releases in the future.
Crash bash! Party
crash bash!!
It’s not a remaster, it’s a remake. Big difference
Crash bash would be an amazing remake next
Bruh, imagine playing Crash Bash online. would be super Lit 🔥🔥
Damn, after watching the old one again you gotta appreciate Beenox for all their work and details
The only that is bad is there's no 60fps :(
At least for PS4 Pro and Xbox One X players. I'd say that even standard versions can handle 60fps when Forza Horizon is locked at 60 and it's way more demanding from graphics to overall performance.
wait.......the same beenox that made tasm1 and 2 games? ahhh hell nawwwww LOL. while i admit the remake of cta looks fkn beautiful i really find it baffling how they made tasm 1 and 2 games look so generic it's like they couldve made it look spectacular if they pulled they finger out a bit more. ill have to give it a play at some point.
the original ctr is made by naughty dog which we know its the best ctr ever made, so basically nitro fueled is only a remake of the original with the mixture of the later mediocre titles!!!
Psxbox 6337 if you play online you’ll notice most of the newer tracks are picked over the OG tracks...
I feel like when you know a short cut you can’t go the regular way ever again
Unless its a risky one like the one in Sewer Speedway :D
mikkdc yeah your right
This short cut was always a challenge to go throght

its crazy as hell that when i was a child playing the original ctr, i thought the graphics looked like how the new ctr looks 😂
I think you just sold me on this game.
JFn Cho you better get it
Just a heads up, it's more difficult.
@@oukn6293 Especially that hard mode...hoo boy
Yeah, I am seeing lots of people complain about difficulty and cheap rubber banding AI. Why don't they just play on easy?
@@zackfair6791 well easy is already easy but medium is hard and hard is rage-inducing.. maybe make medium to be more of a normal medium? hahaha
The physics definitely don't work "identically" between the two. Everyone who's played Sewer Speedway knows this :D
lol. was looking for this comment! that is sadly one of the few things about the remake that annoys me
Well it had been fixed with an update so... I know this comment is about 1 month older than the update 😅
20 years later, Still rocking the 30 FPS.
Exactly 😂
It's a shame.
console limitations
@@Justuas Nope. MK8 on the Switch with LESSER hardware can run the online and single player with locked 60fps and NEXT TO NO slowdown so there is no excuse for 30fps for this.
Justuas how can forza with actual realistic graphics run at 60fps but this cant?
A crash nitro kart comparison would be dope, I played the heck out of the game back when I had a PS2.🙏🏽
Same here, it was my favourite game as a kid.
( Or at least it was until the disk stopped working )
You will be hugely dissapointed by the tracks then
if you want to play it again just use a ps2 emulator :D
@@brianlaudrupchannel i think the redesigns of the cnk maps are actually pretty good
@@ThatsMySkill but they have removed all the fun parts of them like loop de loops and cork screws
Of course the 1999 CTR holds a special place in my heart being a staple of my childhood, being the sole reason for me getting one of those boomerang looking controller port attachments for my ps1 so I could play with family and friends but Bnox has truly out done themselves with CTR nitro fueled.
Boomerang? idk what you mean by that
@Blast Ketchup Wooden weapon with a bend in it that could be thrown like a Frisbee. If users was talented enough could get it to return to them. Watch a Batman cartoon. I was in reference to the shape of the controller port attachment for the PS1 that allowed you to connect 4 controllers to the console simultaneously.
Amen. Those were the days.
I played it and its even better than before with the upgrade i recommend it greatly 9/10
Same, I haven’t had this much fun in a video game since...1999! 😉🤣
8.5
But Beenox have been asking for player feedback and should be fixing the issues here hopefully soon.

Dr. Neo Cortex had a creepy face on his old static model ahahah, as well as Tiny Tiger
Also that Crash
Don't forget about oxide
Tiny CRUSH puny cars!
Also if you’re like a crash team racing a veteran, you don’t even look at the UI boost, it’s just natural timing.
Also you sold me to buy this game. It’s so damn faithful!
timing and the black smoke from the kart
so pretentious
Lol i read that with the actual tone
You need to look at it some... if you want to nail the highest perfects every time time.
The new one actually looks smooth, altough i havent played it yet.
Nice video anyways. :D
It plays really smooth, it may only be 30 FPS, but it still plays really well.
If you've played the original CTR, you will feel right at home, the controls and feel of the game feels very similar to the original.
Yeah it does, very smooth, seamless, feels like 60 even though it’s only playing at 30fps. Such great fun you don’t notice. Awesome visuals too. A wonderful remake!
@@greatdelusion7654 30 and motion blur... instant turn off for me, makes me feel sick, it just makes the 30 more apparent to me, worst part about ND is their love of motion blur.
It's more difficult than orginal

I actually prefer Crash with that maniacal smirk.

@MaztaPan lol
That's exactly it, he was basically changed from a trickster to an idiot in his facial expressions, constantly with his mouth open and tongue out.
He looked funny in a good way
7:50 honestly, I liked the boost effect in ctr more than nitro fueled. It looked like just straight up energy waves coming out of the exaust tips not just regular fire effect.
Hard agree
Agree
True point... played NF and felt odd about the flames, however, i felt that when i ended up getting used to running USF laps, i came to appreciate the fire instead
It was flames in the original ctr though? Lol it just looks shitty because it's PS1 era
nah the new one looks better, and take less space on screen.
I think we can always very safely assume that the polygon count has been raised lol

Nitro Fuel looks insanely detailed and organic. I'm impressed!
Visually the remake is much better obviously but, with a few exceptions, I think the original audio is better
There’s an option so you can change it to the Classic soundtrack
@@jonahabenhaim1223 But i think it only changes it in the main menu right? I'm not sure I noticed a difference while racing
Rodrigo Sosa changes both
It's only the audio for the karts that sounds better.
@@jonahabenhaim1223 great to hear that
You don't have to relly on the UI to know when to boost in the original. You can just look at the exausting pipes and boost when they start to expell a dark smoke
"just" - I played the original since around 2005 and did not know that. I always relied on the speedometer. Now I know 😅
Holy sh*t I wasn't expecting you to go into so much detail. Major props!
I remember playing with my cousins and thinking about the graphics! Like : "no way graphics are getting any better than this"

Great comparison video.....well done.
I still own the original on my PS3 but I don’t play it as much ever since I got nitro fueled
This game is so beautifully remade. It needs to be ported for PC.

we need this with nfs underground 2 or most wanted!
Facts
@Josue Cabrera They did "remake" NFS Most Wanted, but it was pure garbage
We also need for rockstar to remaster midnight club dub edition remix
Literally playing most wanted again at this very moment, just beat Taz and upgraded my Cobalt ss
We’re getting a new NFS game, Heat. And it honestly looks badass. It’s like a F&F video game
watching this video has made me realize what a marvelous masterpiece the original CTR was; it looked soooooo good for the time
Easily my favorite series on UA-cam!! Never stop making these @Nick930
You do such a good job with these videos, man. Keep it up
Crash Team Racing is perfetc in everything. And i surprised than the techniques nobody discovers in the moment...
Its easily the best game ever made.
3:35 the handling is not the same. Definitely feels like you can't make turns as sharp as in the original. Even in the side by side comparison, og crash was able to get all 3 drift boosts without hitting the wall while the new crash was not. Ive definitely felt this in my play as well. That being said, I'll adjust and i love this remake to death 👍
its really logical to make drastical changes because as you said there are 20 yrs difference
I don't like how they redesigned Cortex Castle. This was probably my favorite track in the original, and now it's so hard to see where I'm going. I liked the fact that it was a darker track, but it seems like they just wanted to make most track full of light brown or gold in the remake.
I miss the random lady bandicoots that would celebrate your victory. Also, why are there no podiums when playing online?!?!
What you just said literally just changed today. The trophy girls are now playable characters along with tawna and podium animations online are now a thing.

They did change the effects of power sliding in the new one. You tend to slide out and hit walls much more often and cannot make corners you used to be able to. That being said, they did balance the stats much better in the new one as now each character is viable and straight speed doesn’t just dominate every track.
I love this video. Please continue to compare games!
So happy with with this remake, looks and plays amazing
I am glad they have updated this game and the new visuals are great. Maybe because it is familiar I much prefer the sound of the original
Great video, and amazing comparison, i really appreciate your deeply comparison between the games 10/10 to the game and your comparison video.
I somehow completely missed that these games were remade. Picked them up in the recent sale and I really like them. Great job at the comparisons and really going for getting the exact same shot in both the original and the remaster.
CTRNF just nailed it
Edit: with respect for the classic CTR
It would be great if the devs from the remaster could do the same thing to the Jak and Daxter games.
Thanks for the video.
I would also like to see a comparison with the sequel. It gets a lot less coverage in the media despite all the tracks and characters being in the remaster.
This video was incredibly well done. Just subscribed.
Now ill be happy if diddy kong racing remastered comes out :o

Welcome back everybody, don't mind me. I'm just having breakfast while this excellent direct comparassion from Nick.
bro, this video is so well done - I was hoping someone did something like this. In my opinions, they knocked this remake out of the park, they kept all the charm of the game and improved the cosmetics and aesthetic of everything!
Was waiting for you
I want to see Nitro Kart, I think the original has the better soundtrack though. The music really pops in that version, that's why I use the legacy soundtrack in Nitro Fueled.
TS64 you can change the soundtrack in nitro fueled?
same, nitro karts music is great
@@theplug4981 yep, on pretty much any menu (main, pause, and online lobby) press Triangle on PS4, Y on Xbox One, or X on Nintendo Switch to pull up the options menu. Go to sound and turn the legacy soundtrack on
@@ColeWolfsson It is, it's pretty underrated. Then again most of the songs aren't that punchy, but they sound really nice and fit the aesthetic perfectly
I like to see a seperate video of Crash Nitro Kart 😀👍🏻
Remakes like this, N-Sane Trilogy, Reignited Trilogy, and FFVIIR are more like celebrations of just how far videogame development has progressed in 20+ years. And this is on the cusp of rasterization being replaced by realtime light simulation! Props to Vicarious Visions, Beenox, and Activision for absolutely knocking it out of the park with the remakes of Crash and Spyro titles.
I actually never miss or got nostalgia for any crash or spyro remakes since I already got them ps1 originals (I got lots of ps1 games, now they are called classics) and play ocassionally so I never felt the hype for this remakes I mean if it ain't broke don't fix it, but I gotta recognize that this new companies really put effort and make honor to naughty dog and insomniac much respect vicarious, beenox and toys for bob, hope they keep doing their home work.
I still think the old kart sounds are much better. Those karts could scream and they were more bassy too.
I like the dropping sound of the kart when jumping and falling on the ground and the scream of joy more in the 1999 version, but for the driving and acceralating sound I prefer the new version :D
Zephyr dyno especially the Six Pipes kart. It sounds amazing
Keep up the good work :D
some descriptions made me laugh, thanks man haha
Bought the game this week, and absolutely love it. Really nostalgic and yet still very modern.
the first game's sound effects are sound like somebody is farting in the background

Original is better for 24 fps rock solid.
No not ctr, but I will say the original trilogy looked better in parts then the nsane trilogy.
It doesn't look better, but it plays better.
Only the music in crash banicoot insane triology due to omissions of certain instraments.

Nah. Sacred flame and even ultra sacred flame is still there. Quick turn around is still in, many short cuts are either the same, harder or easier depending on the track, only thing is major ultra shortcuts were taken out. For the most part, pretty much the same, plus more tracks and characters.
I'd like to think that they had massively improved on sound design. The old one makes you think you're driving a scooter than you are driving a kart, were as the new one makes you think you're actually driving a portable machine, with it's mechanical atmosphere that it surrounds itself with. the shifts and roars that the kart has, is what makes the game feel more alive I feel.
Hey dude I really like your channel. Thanks for the cool content.
Who else was playing Tiny because he looked badass? 😂😂
The new music sounds way too busy.. with all the sound effects, tires treading, and the engine roaring doesn’t help it. The old music prevails every time, the legacy music is simple and bold.
I like both, but I found the new music only really shines if you turn down the SFX a bit.
You can just switch to the og music.
I disagree I like a little music even in the other sounds are louder I like it
Been playing this game for a few hours today and I absolutely love it. It definitely think this game is better than the original in every way, whilst staying truly faithful to the original. Obviously I will always love the original, without it, this game wouldn't exist. However this game has now taken it's place.
I bought a PS4 just to play this game with my friends. We would still gather up and play the original once a month. And we always said “omg this looks horrible, I did not remember it looking this bad!”, but after playing for 5 minutes, it all looked good again. This remake is everything that it should be. Thanks beenox , and naughty dog for the great memories.
these type of comparison videos are so weird like -yes 20 years of graphics evolution got us from that to this. are you surprised at all
The creators of CTR in '99 did an amazing job to create a game that many of us still consider our favorite game. I got emotional when I found out it was being released on PS4
I loved the Nitro kart sequel, plz make a comparison for it, also you just made me want the game even more
I really appreciate the love beenox put into this remake/remaster and how they tried to keep things relatively the same
gear sound on old one is much more powerful than the new one 11:04
sound of engine reaching its limits 10:43
I don’t think that’s good because it doesn’t help me concentrate and takes away from the music
In the old game the sound of the engine was much better but the new One have good sound efects
But i prefer the old
In a way I don't like Crash with visual fur.
Play the Nintendo Switch Version and you will be good.

good stuff, would definitely watch the CNK video you mentioned
I would 100% be interested in seeing a CNK video! Especially considering the actual structural changes to the levels themselves.
Man, I don't know... The feelings. I still prefer the old one 🙌🏻 great video btw
The new generation cant accept the old graphic.

With online play!
This game is awesome fun and looks gorgeous to boot. Never played it on the original PSone except at a store or on a magazine demo disc but this game just makes the recently released Team Sonic Racing look deeply dull as this is a much better designed and the far more rewarding game to play in my opinion. I did play the wonderful Diddy Kong Racing though on the N64, which was clearly the inspiration for the original CTR game. Cannot recommend this game enough. It even looks and runs great on the Switch with correct framepacing. Cliched, I know, but this is a work of art and one of my favourite games so far in 2019.

They already have private online matches.
The old Crash's grin was legendary, big shame they weren't able to recreate it in the new design. I actually find the new cutsy-curvy look of Crash kinda off-putting compared to the old sharp and confident design.
Great video,
I'll recieve Nitro fueled Tommorow, i Hope i will still feel my nostalgia when i'll be playing it. I must admit that i like the original sound design better
