What's up, Villagers? We're hopping back into CTR online action...but on the PS1??? Yes, online multiplayer is now a thing for CTR on the original PlayStation. It's still in development and pretty early in at that, so some issues are expected to be had but from what I've played thus far. It's giving me just a fun time with online as Nitro-Fueled and it can only improve from here...

I also recommend watching the launch trailer for this insane way to play. I should have included this in the desc sooner as well.
EDIT: OK so between the upsurge in subs and some of the troubleshooting questions I've had, for the sake of clarity I want you all to know that *I did not make this patch for online.* I'll definitely do some more videos on this but the trailer and the associated Discord server has the originating developers active on updates. I do apologize for not providing this clarity upfront when I initially uploaded this.
Another EDIT: The website link is updated so you no longer need to access Discord for the online files (however, if you encounter issues with online, it is recommended to access Discord)

This is what happens when the guys at Activision are extremely greedy, lazy and unwilling to put the minimum effort to port CNF to PC. Glad to see this is happening rn!
Still CTR PS1 > CTR NF
I think it has something to do with Crash Bandicoot 4. When they bring the new models of OG characters to the game, it is like indirectly forcing us to get used to the new crash and forget about the past. releasing a PC port to CTR NF might be dangerous in terms of marketing their own new game.

@@slayer4932 Well, I understand what you mean. CTRNF has more content and a better "graphic" (even if some do prefer the classic one). But, CTR99 is more iconic, it is way way better optimized, no infinite loading times, better gameplay and more mechanics for example. (Still I think NF is a decent game anyway, but it won't be remembered as well as the CTR99 because a game is not only a matter of contents, but it is especially a matter of optimization, gameplay and fun).
@@nico_defi gameplay wise NF is identical to the original. Only issue was the online has wonky hit detection. If the servers were half decent then that would be widely remembered. In terms of optimization and performances, I never had an issue with NF
How does this have a better online netcode than NF
Because they use a better network infrastructure than whatever the hell NF was using and there’s more options too?

As someone who grew up with this game, this is genuinely fascinating and incredible. Props to both the developers and the play testers for making this a reality.

Hi I’m glad that you guys enjoy this masterpiece of a rom hack made by Niko and as one of the testers of the online multiplayer hack before it’s release I’d love to say to all of you thank you for supporting us through 5 years of effort decompiling and testing crash team racing to hopefully get a fully functional pc port of ctr with more custom features to be added to the game and a better online multiplayer experience and I can’t wait to see what changes we get in the future as always crash team racing is only 73% decompiled which means we are 27% close to a fully working pc port
This is awesome! I'd love to try this, but probably would just get constantly smoked as I would assume only the most elite and dedicated CTR fans would be playing this online! 😅
Just noticed there's an indicator for the reserve turbo, that's really neat
very good thing, I'd optimise it a bit more. the indicator is a bit off, the actual reserve system can overflow and give you infinite yellow fire (saffi fire). in order to better understand how many reserves i have, i'd say they could use different bar colors to actually represent what i have stored: green bar, yellow bar, etc. the color changes after it reaches the limit on screen, so you can keep storing reserves

i commented late at night, what I mean is that the bar reaches its edge too soon and you can store way more reserves that what the bar says. the idea would be to have more than 1 bar, like health bar changing colors but only occupying the same pixels in terms of space

Does this mod contain the ability to swap engine type or is that not implemented yet?
Not yet though I hope they do implement it in the future. The question has certainly been raised in their Discord.
@@Actorio64 If they add in Drift as an option, I think they’ll have to retool the stats a little just so it doesn’t render Turn as completely useless and Balanced as slightly redundant. In NF, it was Speed or Drift for competitive play with Acceleration sometimes chiming in.

Cuando entro en una sala vacia la mayoría de veces me sale una pantalla de carga y me envia de nuevo al lobby del inicio. También me dan muchas fallas en plan esta iniciando la carrera o estoy corriendo y me saca de la carrera. Es normal?
At the moment, it is expected but they are working on this. It's still early in on the online and rooms can fill up quickly.

Cuando te sale la bandera de carga y un segundo después te manda a la lobby es porque los de esa sala ya están corriendo. Pero lo de que te saque durante la carrera sí es bug

The game play is good the only problem I have is why aren't there more weapons it's just bombs you choose nothing else
It's the only one available at the moment. The patch is still in progress.

Veo que es carrera limpia, los items no afectan a los demas, me gusta ese modo, ojala agreguen el otro modo donde si afecten los ítems, ahorita le doy un vistazo al juego
there is no netcode for items yet.

Right now, only bombs and you can't hit each other. Pretty much just other crates.
Why don't you use weapons?
They don't work yet.You can use bombs (the only item rn) but it won't hit anyone. Still an in-progress patch.

@@kilo2492 They aren't; it's just the current development being limited to bombs and players having no collision. It's essentially "no item" if you don't count using bombs for crates.

Ikr some people just can’t take their nostalgia glasses off. If items were enabled this will have the exact same issues NF has online with the hit detection being wonky in the items.
Not only that, but in some other videos, I saw coco hit pinstripe with a bomb, but only sent him flying forward
This game aged so well, glad to see some good rom hacks of this, is this online?
Not quite a rom hack but rather a patcher and while the patcher and steps can be found on the website, I of course can't help with the game itself.
@@Actorio64 this still good so this is a patcher instead, keep it up looks great. This game still my top 3 racing games.
Better netcode than nitro fueled online 💀
I can't go back to PS1 CTR after playing Nitro-Fueled. Nothing about graphics (In fact, love charming PS1 graphics) or anything. Just the fact after playing Nitro-Fueled with everything from OG CTR, CNK and new tracks and characters from CTTR, Spyro, remaining characters from the Naughty Dog trilogy and obscure Crash media. I'm not seeing myself touching the PS1 original ever again.
Same here. Aside from occasional replaying. I would go to NF instead one major pro about NF is the glitched shortcuts are patched out and it’s no fun even playing the game when everyone abuses glitches. Also as you said new content added for free in NF I never played CNK but playing it through CTR NF mechanics which are identical to the original is a blast.
