I wish I could like this 100 more likes. This demo was so valuable. Reviews on gear like this tend to focus on the high quality materials used. You showed me exactly what the bags are capable of. Thank you so much!
Got the US30. Tank converter kit too. Brilliant. I didn’t want solid luggage. I like the idea of removing luggage even if getting fuel. The Kreiga bags come with shoulder straps so you can carry it when off the bike. Handy
On the security of the bags there's a number of options. A Packsafe mesh can be padlocked over the bags and to the bike which should stop opportunist theft. The other thing is that there are numerous lightweight cable locks that could be threaded through the molly loops and secured to the chassis. With a bike like yours you can't really benefit from more secure luggage without home made rack mounts and these will detract form the lovely lines of the bike.
Hi mate, some good options there. I just ended up taking mine off for anything longer than a 10 minute stop :) I would go with rack mounts for longer journeys or ones where the bike would be left with bits on. Thanks for commenting
Great overview of the Kriega. My son and I just did a 5 day ride in west Texas in the US and we each used a Kriega 30 and worked great. I just posted our Kriega packing video for the trip and going to link your video in the description and recommend for anyone looking for a more detailed review. Great job!
Thanks mate, appreciate that. Just watched your video too... Awesome bikes you and son have. Will keep an eye out for upcoming videos to see how the trip went :)
Very useful! As mentioned in other comments, the loading of the bags was extremely helpful! Just bought a US10 for a tailbag and now thinking of getting a 20 and another 10 to give me a good weekend trip capability. I had to fuss around a bit with the initial strap placement but now that it's done, the rest is easy. If I had a wish it would be for KRIEGA to make a proper tankbag. The 10 and 20 can be used with the tank attachment but it's a clunky setup and some features could be improved (more easy access pockets, tanklock quick-release, etc). Well done. Keep the content coming!
I already have the 20 used it on a long weekend and it didn’t stop raining once clothes in the bag 100% dry this kit is best I’ve ever used Evan my bmw paneers are not 100% w/proof without inner bags I’ve put a order in for Christmas for the 30 with her in doors great kit buy it you won’t regret it 👍👍
Very good video. It's very helpful to see what can be packed into a US20 and US30 bag because i am thinking of buying one or the other in addition to two OS 18's on to my Tenere 700. Packing even the lightest, softest shoes always takes up such a lot of space and is always something I struggle with. Well done. Thank you.
You could always use a bicycle cable lock to secure the bag to the bike by passing it through loops on the bag. It’s not going to deter someone if they are determined and equipped to steal the bag, but it will stop an opportunist thief from unclipping the bag and stealing your gear.
I used to have a ventura bag and rack on my old bike, I have considered getting one put on my gsx650f but they aren't the best looking racks out there if you want to keep the track ready look
Yeah I have never been keen on rigid metal frames personally but they are meant to be awesome for proper touring.. for occasional trips and weekends away on the bike, a tail and tank bag would be nice choice... thanks for commenting again mate :)
Hello ! Nice vid' 'Got a quick question, do you thing we can use this tank system you speak quickly but with a backpack ? I do photo and I'd like to use my photo backpack on my trip, stapped on the tank so it is easy access. I don't know if you got and use the tank system, it's not very clear in the video
Fantastic Review. Personally I think your security con is a pro because I want to take the bag with me, and its versatility helps with that by easily removing it when I need to. :)
I intend to fit a rain coat, rain coat shoes, along with a 17" laptop and maybe a document bag for the daily commute to work. would the US20 be sufficient? also is the US30 too big for daily commutes?
After quite a few years I admit, my US30 finally failed waterproofing this week, which absolutely sucks. I think I bought them in 2017, that means that it's done thousands of miles in all conditions and taken this long to have an issue somewhere, but once it's gone - it's gone
Hi, ok, leftfield question coming up. Do you or anyone here have any idea if climbing gear (i-e: rope, harness, quickdraw, shoes etc) would fit in the 30l bag?
Thanks mate, yeah they actually go really well together, the clip at 0:24 is the 30 and 20 together. Worked really well for my long weekend trip. Thanks for commenting
I was thinking of getting this for commuting - I'd need to pack a shirt, trousers, krytonite new york chain and small d-lock and a 14" laptop - which one would you recommend? I'm thinking it should just about fit in a US20?
I’m not sure how safe the laptop would be with bike locks as you’ll want to tighten the bag to bike quite a lot and it could potentially crack the screen. I’m pretty sure that would all fit in the US 20 though. Depending on the laptop case thickness.... the US20 might not be wide enough... sorry I can be of more help :( thanks for commenting though 👍
@kenji yes fits the 14" laptop easily. I don't use a sleeve, and it goes on with a change of clothes and the new York krypyonite chain and lock. It can fit a bit extra too but can get a bit tight.
Im a bit sceptical to how stable the bags are on the bike. Say if i get the 30 and two 20s one on each side, will they sit firmly attacked to the bike or will they move about a lot in corners or on the highway? I dont own a car and work on ships, so i would carry about 2 weeks worth of clothes, toiletries, a laptop etc.
I couldn't say for certain but I don't think you would have problem if you pull the straps really tight. My mate used his 30 with a 10 on the side and that wasn't a problem, literally didn't move at all. You could always try a US 20 on top of a US 30 and then get their R35 backpack and attach a US10 to that. Going to cost a lot of money but could give you flexibility if that's what you need.
CJ Did some rethinking. Might go with the SW-Motech Blaze panniers (expensive as hell, but look really good on the bike) along with something like a US 20 and two US 10 bags. Got really interested in the backpack too, specifically the watertight one (ofcause). Thats already well over 100 liters of capacity, I would think that would be more than enough :) Its all long term plans really, nothing set in stone. At the moment Im debating wether to upgrade my suspension (classic Yamaha; sprung for a japanese underweight kid) or get proper luggage Thank you for your reply, will definitely choose Kriega of some kind :)
I currently have a Nelson Rig 22L sports tail bag and find it doesn't hold enough for me. I don't carry too much that often, but I want something where I can store my Dainese leather sports jacket, rain gear (gortex pants/ hardshell jacket), spare gloves, a water bottle, and occasionally a mid layer (usually a compressible down jacket or fleece jumper), and other small odds and ends. I can get most of that in my nelson rig minus the leather jacket because its just so bulky and the nelson rigg doesn't expand well with with its semi-hard shell. Do you you think I could get all that in the US20 as they look fairly roomy or do you think I'd need the US30? I dont do crazy multi day treks just full day rides/commutes. I was set on getting the 30 initially but then realised what about when Im not carry much gear and just a few items and the bag doesn't take a good shape and stays flat/lose, seems like it could be problematic but Its hard to tell. Advice please :D
I would have said those items (except the leather sports jacket) should be fine to fit in but the fact that your 22L bag didnt fit them in, I would say this 20L is going to struggle even more. I guess I would say, play it safe and go for the 30L if you can afford it because you can just roll the end over more if you have excess space. Thanks for commenting
@@CJMPH still worth the new prices, great kit but secondhand is now similar to these prices ha. Meant to say thanks for a great review. Stay/ride safe...
I used a 20 and 10 for a weekend trip and had space left over. For a week trip I would recommend going for the 30 as you can always fill the space and trainers will fit much better in it. A 20 with two 10's will probably be OK too but I'd say its better to have more space and not need it than the other way round :)
Sorry for the late reply, I didn't get any marks from the straps but I wasn't using it everyday. On the long weekend rides when I did, there were no marks
Hi CJ ! I have a KRIEGA R20 Active Pack, and I want to ad the US10 to use it added or in the tank of my Bonneville, do you think it works well on this tank? Thanks!!
Good vid. I’ve been looking at the Kriega kit recently. Might be going for a rucksack but they do cost a bit but seem worth it! Have you used any of the rucksacks?
Thanks mate, yeah the guy I borrowed the US10 and 30 from has the 20 litre backpack and always uses it, not just for the bike but literally anything lol... he doesnt usually stick the US10 on it but I'm pretty sure he has tried it and it worked pretty well without looking ridiculous... I would probably buy the rucksack just so you can use it for other things :)
Hi mate, I dont think so, I wouldnt recommend putting one in the US 10 anyway as you need to pull the straps quite tight which could bend/break the laptop
may I suggest someone commission a fabric company to weave in a stainless wire like a rip-stop design to the fabric. My two-month-old soft bags would not have been slit open and all my content is stolen on my trip. 10 years with hard cases never had anything stolen.
Depending on how much you want to spend, they have various backpacks too (starting to sound like a sales person here - I can assure you I'm not being paid to say this lol - wish I was). My mate has the R20 backpack, he loves it and uses it all the time.. it has the same interlocking system so you can add the tail bags to it as well if you did decide to go down the Kriega route :)
Great looking bags, absurd pricing imo. Just buy any good dry bag of the appropriate size and strap it on the seat or tail rack. Same functionality for a sixth of the price.

two mins in and I've already got more info than other 10 mins reviews. thank fuck for that. Thanks my man!

I know i'm watching this 6 - years later but the prices now are a lot more expensive for the same models in GDP. US-10:£99 US-20:£145 US-30:£169

That's a good run, no doubt!
However, I bet you could easily re-proof that bag for many more miles and smiles.
I bought a LOMO 40Ltr for my trip. You can also get a LOMO rucksack. All are so so so much cheaper than kriega, but really great quality
They look pretty kl, love the orange version and loads cheaper too
Great video, very helpful. Can I ask what AS boots they are please?
perfect review. think I'm going to get a 30, as i want to take shoes with me... :)
do you can put on the tank the US20? It is a good size for go on gsx?
