On a side note, I noticed that you are back to using the Rode Wireless Go II instead of the DJI Wireless that you also reviewed recently and gave praise. Do you prefer the Rode over the DJI? If so, why?
Even with the "Barrel effect" of "hyper view" it's still a lot better than the fish eye effect of the Insta360 X3. Thank you both for your thorough reviews they really help me decide on my next camera.

I watched this video on a 75inch screen and the quality is pretty good. I can see where low light situations would be an issue but in a well lit city like that one clip you showed, it was pretty good. But watching this video made me realize something extremely important! I mean this is a game changer for me and I feel like a fool now LOL. I watched this video on my computer first and thought man the video quality is quite crappy why would i buy that go pro?? Then I realized I had been watching all of the videos on UA-cam in auto which reverted it to 480 p?? What the hell. I changed it to 4k and damn it's sharp. And like i said same thing on the 75'' TV.. All this time I am thinking all the camera reviews i have been watching are crappy quality when all along it was me and the settings smh.
I have just returned from a trip to the mountains so I took a lot of photos and videos on my iPhone 11 Pro Max and I had many Instances where I thought I would drop my phone and lose or break it. Not to mention my phone got wet and was harder to carry with my selfie stick. It finally cemented to me to get a GoPro which I have been looking at doing for at least a year. I’m going to get the 11 and some accessories. I have been watching your videos for awhile and your the best. Thank you for your videos.
I just got an iPhone and an experimenting with shooting travel videos with it and have drawn the same conclusions as you. iPhone is great for casual shooting, but the second you do anything rugged (or hand it to a toddler), GoPro is the way to go. Enjoy your new camera!
Maybe it’s just me, but I did notice that recording 1080 60fps looks a lot better on the GoPro Hero 11 than the GoPro Hero 7 Black. I’m really enjoying the 11! As you mentioned, feels bug-free. Great review as always.
That's always been the case. Each generation's 1080, 2.7k and 4k have looked a lot better than the previous generation's.
Great video guys! I agree with you 100%. The GoPro 10/11 really is the ultimate camera. GoPro just nails the color and dynamic range so often. Thanks for all the tips like the ISO and gimbal in low light. Its funny because I see all these people going to protests and they have big camera riggs with external mics and wires everywhere. I would tell them to use a GoPro instead. GoPro is super durable and the stabilization and the quality is amazing.
The sensor is tiny on the GoPro. A 1/2 inch image sensor just won’t be as good as a full frame sensor.

Great video. I am a photographer and have all the nice video gear. I use none of it. My GoPros are my family and travel cameras. The GoPro cloud is amazing on vacation! Overall Im really happy being in the GoPro ecosystem. It's such an affordable, bulletproof, and effective system.
Thanks for the review. I've been thinking about upgrading from the 9 to the 11 mainly due to the freezing issues and occasional file loss with the 9, and also because the form factor has stayed the same so I don't have to go out and buy ND filters and other accessories again (which easily equal the cost of the GoPro inself).

@7:53... Yes, this! It should also be noted that it is beneficial to turn off stabilization when you put the cam in a gimbal for low-light situations. Give it a shot. I think you'll be very pleased with the results. Thanks for the vid, GC!

Can't thank you all enough for your detailed review! Thanks to you, we got the Hero 11, and it's absolutely rock solid with no overheating issues whatsoever. And noticeably cleaner in low light than our Hero 10.
Great to hear they've ironed out the bugs, my 7 used to freeze and I sent back a 10 as that used to overheat when switched off draining the battery.

You guys pretty much sum up all my findings as well using my gp11 on a 10 days train ride covering 8 States. It is the best HERO release imho. I did experience heating up (leaving the camera on standby and not using it) which leads to a faster battery drain… but I came prepared with 4 Enduro batteries total so I just swap. I like the error messaging as well. Now telling us what went wrong (as in battery exhausted and H11 did a shutdown. I am looking at replacing my H5 and H8 with 2 more H11s. So to use this camera you need so many extra batteries? That's horrible.
Thanks for the review again. You highly suggest to use gimbal when shooting footage at night, do you use a quick release mount on your inkee falcon plus gimbal with your gopro 11? Wish the go pro used the magnetic mount and ease of use for battery door like dji action 3 but it is what it is. Oh and the use of gopro app on mobile phone while recording...i miss that option on gopro expecially while using extentible tripod/handle. Thanks suzie, martin and baby youtuber, julian, he's grown so fast! Lol

For hiking specially under hot summer days, would the Hero 11 be better than Action 3? I’m currently using Hero 7. Main concern is around overheating + the high price (of Hero11) vs less dynamic range of Action 3 (the places I hike have extreme shadows and bright mountainous land and water bodies.

The advantage of HERO11 is that you can record video in 5.3K 8:7 and then pull 24.7MP frame grabs. This way you don't have to choose between capturing a photo or video. It's not going to replace your DSLR for all your photos, but you will get more use from the GoPro if you use it for video in high resolution and grab stills from it.

I have 2 gopros ( 7 and 9) I am frustrated that I have to "convert" the 4K footage through a program called HANDBREAK. is this still the case with the Gopro hero 11? You can't watch 4K footage on a windows 10 PC without the conversion software...

I use the hero 9 still too :) with the gopro labs firmware it works just fine for me, i love it :)

5.3k video not playing on video player only audio because the video too large and not supported by the video player. How do you solve the problem..?
I have read Amazon reviews of purchasers stating the battery overheats in the H11. Have you heard of this or experienced this yet? Also does the 11 have live streaming capabilities? I thought I read this somewhere however didn't know if there was a workaround to do it. I also see you guys using the RODE GO II and not he DJI wireless mics? Do you guys switch for each vid? Suzi prefers DJI Mics, Martin prefers Rode. One of us had to compromise for this video. We have never experienced overheating with any of our GoPros, likely because we live in a cooler climate. And yes, the Hero 11 can livestream.
@@Gemini_Connect Would you guys recommend having a backup mic like the Rode Video Micro connected in case the wireless mic fails or do you think the GP11 mic would be sufficient? Just trying to think of worst case scenario and wasted video.
Yes. I think the same, especially the FOV.
But please maybe you could test the Sony ZV1f, because it's made for vloggers, and will have much superior image quality.
For those that don't do action or underwater, then a higher grade camera should probably be the choice.

Hello. I enjoyed watching your presentation and have been following the GoPro models for years, never having owned one. That may change with the new 11 which really seems unbeatable. When I shoot videos on my Sony or Nikon, I am never walking so I have not had to be concerned with step bounce. Have you found any editing programs (I use Movavi) that help stabilize that in post?

I use my Hero 10 with the Media Mod and the Volta connected via USB to keep it charged up.
One problem I often have is that the GoPro freezes so that the left button wont turn it on if it is off, or turn it off if it is on. The Hero 10 firmware has been updated many times but they have never fixed this bug. The only solution is to disconnect the GoPro from the Volta, take it out of the Media Mod, remove the battery then reinsert it and finally put it back in the Media Mod and reconnect the Volta.
It would be great if you could test this setup with the Hero 11.
If this bug doesn't exist in the Hero 11 then it would be worth me upgrading.
We didn't get the Volta because it's too short of a tripod handle for us. Sorry to hear it's giving you issues.

Hero 11 is cool and can be vlogged with but I still think todays newest phones are better for that.
but i those freezing issues and bugs were also gone with gopro 10 i never had any issue with mine.

When you guys been doing this video while walking do guys use the gimbal?
This video filmed outdoors in natural light was just with Autoboost built in stabilization. We only use a gimbal when shooting at night or in low light.

The Go Pro 11 is great but does unfortunately still freeze if shooting 4k 60fps but only did it once where I had to pull the battery but work for over 30 minutes afterwards so wasn’t because it was hot as was cold that day, has been way more reliable then the hero 9 and touch actually works reasonably well.
I have the GoPro 7-10. You are seriously making me want the 11.
I have the Hero 10 and 11, I am happy with both. I get the impression although that I get more flare with the Hero 11 when the sun is in the picture at some angles. I wonder if they changed the lens design somehow. I have not compared side to side, but it is something I noticed.
Some other reviewer mentioned this.. Said it had something to do with a manufacturing defect.. and it's like a smudge deep inside the lens.

Suzi likes the DJI Mic; Martin prefers Rode. Since we were both on the video, one of us had to compromise.

I agree with this video. I’m having a lot of fun shooting in 8:7 ratio, I just wish it had 60fps option. But Auto upload has been there since GoPro 10 and my GoPro 11 did overheat recently. Does faster Micro SD card mean better video quality? Have you tested disadvantages of using a v10 vs v30? What cards do you use for your GoPro 11? Thanks 😊

I see you are using the wireless Go 2 with it. Does the mic automatically turn on once you press record on the GoPro or must you start it each time when you want to record something? Great videos and I love your content.
The mic automatically starts recording as long as all of the units are powered on.

Which sd card did you use for the gopro?
The specifications say in 5.3 K and 10 bit the cam writes with 120MB/sec.
I have a sd card with V30 spec which is too slow and 5.3 k Videos aren't smooth
But I cannot find a single micro sd card which can write at 120MB/sec.
By the way not a single card gopro recommends can deliver that speed.
So I would be very thankful, if you could write what card are you using.

I find the gopro actually overheats very easily. It works for about 15 to 30 mins. Got upset got a dji and found it works much better at mixing with other footage like drones.. also lasts longer before it overheats.
I’ve notice when filming I get this flicker that seems like I’m filming an old tv set as the camera catches the screens cycles. (see my hot wheels video.) on the screen. Even with proper lighting, it’s really frustrating. How do I get rid of that flicker with the 11?

You can shoot in low sharpness. It will make everything slightly softer, including skin. But no dedicated soft skin filter.

To anyone having glitches with their GoPro, I strongly recommend trying a FULL format in Windows and then a format in the camera afterwards. A full format cannot be performed on MacOS to my knowledge. I saw this mentioned on someone's YT channel and I've never had a problem in my Hero 9 or 10 since doing it. I'm using a Sandisk Extreme Pro 128gb V30, U3, A2 card and have even upped the capture data rate to over 200MB/s using the GoPro Labs software with not even a hiccup. I hope I didn't just jinx myself.
Do you mean reformat the card or a factory reset of the camera?
@@FraserHealVideo Full format/reformat of the card in Windows and then once it's been reinserted in the camera. Is that clearer? If not, let me know. A factory reset of the camera may be necessary for some but it wasn't for me even after performing firmware updates in the Media Mod.
@@markwornom1050 GoPro recommend to format cards in the camera itself, but if it works on a computer then great. Disk Utility on MacOS will enable people format cards, GoPro recommend FAT32 for 32gb cards and EX-FAT for anything larger. I personally re-format frequently in camera.
@@FraserHealVideo About a year ago I tried formatting my brand new card in my brand new Hero 9 and it wouldn't work, wouldn't recognize or format it. That started this journey. Since I still had my Hero 5, I tried formatting it there and it worked at least partially, which was enough to be able to then format it in the 9 if I remember right. But, I was still having some kind of problem; either less than full capacity, the failed file write or corrupted file issue, and that got me searching for "error formatting GoPro SD card" or something similar and I stumbled upon a helpful video. I'm aware of the EX-FAT requirement and I also know that you cannot format/reformat to the extent it needs it in MacOS because it does not do the full, low level format. Only Windows offers the full format option. I own an iMac and can confirm this from personal experience and trial with using it and my Hero 9. Only the Windows format fixed the problem. I am also aware that you need to format your cards in camera and I always do that and especially after the Windows format. So, here I am now a year or so later and I haven't had a problem since so, I feel confident that this format is worth a try for those having problems. If you're interested, I'll try and find the video again.
Most this features are software-based and could be implemented in GoPro 10 due to the same processor.

Personally, I prefer the GoPro plus my iPhone 14 Pro because of the size. Both are easier to carry and discreetly vlog with, but it’s a preference. Some people prefer using regular cameras like the Canon.
