    I had the robotic hysterectomy exactly 6 weeks ago today. I have had no problems at all. No pain after surgery except maybe 1 day with few cramps but nothing major. I was already in post menopause so didnt have to take any hormones. Experience better than I expected.

    At 60 I went for my Pap, and they happen to find a large mass which they thought was a fibroid. Had ultrasound and MRI everything showed benign and when they went in there, it was this humongous benign mass coming off my ovary adhered to everything in my abdominal cavity. Luckily they had decided to go in through my C-section scar, but she took everything because they did not want to take any chances and I am OK with that. I was already on estrogen for menopause. It’s just crazy with us. Women have to go through.

      Had similar experience and diagnosis at age 72! What a rollercoaster ride, will have surgery next month after 2 years of monitoring as the mass grew and the other ovary developed a cyst. Thank you for sharing your experience. I do look forward to a change in timing of toileting 24/7.

    • @Prairiesrock
      @Prairiesrock Рік тому +2

      Yikes! How did you catch that? Were you having ultrasounds? I have the BRCA1 gene, and have regular ultrasounds, but I'm contemplating having my tubes and ovaries removed since pelvic ultrasounds don't always catch cancer early . I'm 64, so no reason not to really except I've never had surgery and I'm a big scairdy cat. Thanks and best wishes!

    Thank you for sharing! I will be 40 in June 2023 and I have no children. I was diagnosed with adenomyosis. The pain i experience during my cycles is excruciating and i also have pain 1 week before and after my cycle. I loose a lot of blood and am severely anemic. Ive had to have 2 blood transfusions.
    The only thing that makes me hesitate about having a hysterectomy is not having a child. However I just dont see it in my future. I dont even have a boyfriend. Been single most of my life. I hate that im on the fence about this decision because of a hope to have a family one day. My pain is just so terrible.

    I’m 63 & had full hysterectomy 4 weeks ago as preventative risks since receiving confirmation of Genetic disorder. My mom has had 5 cancers & have several relatives also having cancer and joined genetic clinic for diagnosis. My recovery is going well but certainly feel lazy. I’m glad I listened to my Dr.
    I only took pain meds for a few days, drank lots of water, fibre drinks, Gatorade & took CBD oil under my tongue as well as used essential oils on my tummy to reduce gas. I bought a support belt at medical supply store which really helped.
    I look fine on the outside so hard for people to accept I’m still in recovery at week 4!
    I really miss soaking in my tub and hope after appointment with surgeon coming up soon will give go ahead

      @@valerinagalvina stay on your pain medication even if you think you don't need it. If it's laproscopic I recommend no carbonated beverages for a week and drink peppermint tea. Take gas x and chew gum. These tips will help with the horrible gas pain that takes a week or so to leave your body. Don't feel bad if you can't urinate hours after the surgery. It takes a few hours and many trips to the bathroom to get things working again. Hystersisters is an amazing site with great advice that I still use even 3 months out.

    Hi Judy, I’m 49 and my doctor is really encouraging me to get a hysterectomy due to bleeding long periods of time and they are very painful and awful. I am scared out of my mind. Even though I’m not having anymore kids the finality to having this done scares me to death!

    • @Judykag
      @Judykag  6 місяців тому

      It’s natural to be scared. We think of all that can happen. And yes,I was done having babies but the deep and yet distant thought that that “gift” needed to be taken away was something I had to work with. But I promise you that after you will feel like a new woman. No more bleeding and worrying about bleeding. It becomes your whole existence. After you can focus on the good parts of life. It’s a personal decision and if you decide to you won’t even look back.❤️. Since this video my daughter had her hysterectomy. She is 41 and she did very well. Let me know how you do. (I encourage you to take your ovaries).

      I had a complete robotic hysterectomy the day before Thanksgiving. I went home the same day. I had minimal pain and I am now completely recovered. In hindsight, it was a very easy surgery but I had a good surgeon. I cannot speak to the psychological impact, I am 70 and obviously had no need for my uterus and ovaries any longer.

    I appreciate you sharing your experience. Some good suggestions in there. My story is a little different…I’m looking for older women (60ish) who are about to have a total hysterectomy. My situation isn’t urgent and it’s more of a reassurance than anything. My mother passed away in Sept (2023) of Ovarian cancer. Her tumor was the size of a cantaloupe and she did not have any symptoms until just before the surgery. They discovered it because her white blood cell count was triple the normal. It was also just her time to go Home. I’ve been debating with myself “should I or not?” I bleed (still) from time to time but everything checks out normal. Ovarian cancer is hard to catch early so I am leaning toward getting in done. 1) it will give me reassurance and 2) it’ll force me to not do physical work after taking care of my mom estate (sifting through and selling her home) and then also downsizing our house, selling and moving to a smaller place in the same year. For someone that has a hard time not working, I think that will be challenging to not do anything for 6 weeks (my doctor said 10) so your comment about really following those orders was important for me to hear. Thank you for doing your video.
