I had a robot-assisted hysterectomy almost a decade ago, at age 32-ish, for a lot of the same reasons you're going to. The biggest help to me in surgery recovery was a pillow to hug, at hand always. Also, it felt a bit like my organs were sliding around inside me a little bit, which was weird but not gross or concerning: things were just readjusting. Having the surgery at a relatively young age was immensely freeing to me. I have had zero regrets about going through with it, and when you realize you haven't had to go down "that aisle" at the store in months...bliss! I wish you a speedy and complication-free recovery. Welcome to the club.
Hi! I am going to undergo a hysterectomy in a week. I am 29 and I’m concerned about going through menopause at a young age(I’m keeping my ovaries). Did hysterectomy cause you to enter menopause soon after?
After my surgery the 45 minute car ride home was the worst. But I don’t wake up from anesthesia too well. If I could recommend anything it would be to have something squishy you can hug on your way back home. Something with a comforting smell like your pillow or a blanket. Good luck, I hope you recover quickly!
We have to drive 3 hours home after, agh! Dreading it but I got an abdominal pillow for the car and we are staying an extra night after in a hotel so I can have another day of rest before the trip. Wish me luck!
@@AnaDiaz-wz4cf well. They didn't find much endo during my lap, but did find adenomyosis. I asked for hysterectomy but they are forcing me to wait until October to discuss it again bc "I'm too young" even though I don't want children. I had a cystoscopy at the same time and have had bladder problems ever since. So it's kind if been a mess 😮💨 the surgery day and recovery itself was the easy part. Thank you for asking
Me, sitting here as a Virgo, over preparer...watching alllll the videos i can find of hysterectomy preparation. I'm having my surgery 2 days before my bday this month, on Sept 19th, and it's LONG OVERDUE. I've had endometriosis since I was in high school and then began having issues with extreme menstrual bleeding all of sudden back in Dec 2022. I have an IUD in place to help with controlling my period and my endo symptoms, so the sudden return of my period and it being *that heavy* was def not normal for me. I chalked it up to being an indication of premenopause because of hearing other friends going theough similar experiences when they were heading towards menopause about the same age. Then...in April my body decided to basically throw out what was no holds barred. I wound up in the ER with my blood pressure bottomed out at 64/35 and my labs just high enough that i didnt need a transfusion. They admitted me for observation and to run IV fluids because i was definitely dehydrated (i had been horribly nauseated for two days and had not eaten; I had been drinking lots of water, but i was in so much pain i was sweating out almost as fast as i was trying to take in). I found out then that i have two uterine fibroids: one is 10 cm and one is 6cm. So, because of their size, we wknt be able to do a laparoscopic surgery, it will have to be an open abdominal surgery. Depending on what they find when they get in there, that will determine whether they will remove my ovaries & fallopian tubes, too.
Oh my gosh, I am getting a hysterectomy in 2 weeks for an 11 cm fibroid and I can’t wait to get this out of me, the dr said my uterus is the same size as if I was 5 months pregnant, I can’t imagine if I had another 6 cm fibroid in there hanging out!!! Girl!! I hope you are doing well ❤
@@lizb111 I feel SO MUCH better!! I hope your surgery goes well! I couldn't believe how much better I felt within such a short time after surgery. It did end up being everything except for one ovary: my surgeon left one ovary intact in order to save me from needing hormones after surgery (fingers crossed that I won't need them for a while!); we thought originally that one of the fibroids was attached to the outside of my uterus but it was actually a mass on one of my ovaries (benign mass confirmed by pathology) which is obviously why that one was removed. Highly recommend taking your stool softeners that they suggest after surgery, and for the first few days after surgery, whatever pain meds they give you, take them right on schedule - don't wait until you are in severe pain or else it's hard to get it under control and makes them almost useless. Since I did that, I truly only needed them for a few days. Plus, they were making me so sleepy I couldn't stand taking them much longer.
Thank you for this. I’m 30 days pre-op my anxiety is extremely high and I have not considered any of the comforting advice and items you shared here. This will definitely help me prepare for my pre and post op care. All of this was so comforting!!
You've got this Danielle. All good vibes your way. One thing I would suggest for your bedside basket would be a notebook and pen. If you are given more than one med to take it is helpful to write down what med you took at what time. Don't want to be guessing on that. Thanks for sharing your story.
Prayers your way! I had a total hysterectomy 3 years ago and you will be good. Just a little discomfort. Rest and take it easy afterwards. Limit your weight restrictions. I will be thinking about you. Keep us posted, you got this girl!!!! ❤️🥰
Thank you- I'm 22 and scheduling my own hysterectomy soon after 3 previously failed surgeries in the past year. Your story and tips and tricks are so helpful and make me feel not as alone.
thank you so much for sharing and posting these videos! I'm 60 and it took too many years-until final diagnosis and then full total hysterectomy with bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy. I'm on the other side now and slowly recovering but So Glad this is behind me. Thank you!

I just found your channel and I love it !!!! I am day 3 of my hysterectomy and the pain is real but I still don't regret it. I am wishing you all the best ❤
This video was tremendously helpful in helping me prepare for my hysterectomy three days ago. I ordered the Barefoot Dreams blanket and Solmate socks, both of which have been wonderful! I was able to put together a bedside bin and a couch bin, thanks to your video which have been tremendously helpful in my recovery.
The oxygen from surgery dried out my nasal tissue so the saline you can squirt up your nose helped me. Real fruit popsicles were one of the only thing I ate the first couple days. I was surprised to need size large leggings for so long having been an extra small before. Got sick of jammies real quick. I will be thinking of you all day tomorrow. You are super ready. You're going to be great.
Good luck. To get anthestheia out of your body be up and walking it helps so much.the more you move the faster it gets out ask about it. I had a hysterectomy when I was 31 ( I'm 63 )from endometriosis (severe) I did well after surgery It will be easier than you think once its over you will do good. You will not be laying around much you will be up and around fast. A little Slower and a little tired faster though. Take care.
Yes, much needed information. Just was told I need a hysterectomy because my uterus is the size of a cauliflower head with fibroids. Surgery is scheduled for next month, on pills to stop my cycle because it’s literally trying to kill me. Thank you for sharing this information sis.
I really love your personality. On explaining everything this is my first time going through a hysterectomy I'm afraid but I got God on my side. Thank you so much your video was so helpful for me. THANK U SO MUCH💜U HAD ME LAUGHING ON THE FLEET...
Your part 3 video was so validating for me and pain & emotional roller coaster I’m on right now I’m on day 3 after hysterectomy and prolapse surgery! And I am in so much pain 😢
The ride home seemed longer than 45 minutes and we also had to pick up my meds before we came home. Have a pillow to sit on and one to hug. I also had a throw up bucket because anesthesia just doesn’t agree with me. Be prepared to lay back and don’t sit up straight for too long. I also sat on a heating pad and kept one across my lap. I was very sore for about a week and a half.
I love the idea of the totes, especially the bedside tote. I have to have surgery on my arm so this will be some helpful for me. Thanks for the ideas, and I’m definitely sending you prayers and hugs for a speedy recovery ❤️🩹
Thank you for sharing this. I hope you’re recovery went perfectly. Me endo just celebrated our 30th anniversary last night. I’m filing for uterine divorce in 2022.
Hi dear have you ever tried out herbal medications it worked for me with no side effects whatsoever with the help of DR MABOSA HERBAL on UA-cam he can help you
I am so excited for you! I had my hysterectomy almost 2 years ago and it is unbelievable how much better I feel (I had fibroids and like you knew something was wrong but suffered for a very long time). You are very prepared and organized! The only thing I would recommend is getting an abdominal binder. I wore mine daily after my surgery until it was too big and didn’t really fit anymore. I wish you the speediest recovery! P.S. After your surgery will probably be the only time you’re happy to have the walking farts, lol.
Amen, sister. I am getting ready for my total hysterecomy and excision surgery. Like you, I'm getting one last cycle right before the surgery. Good riddance! Thanks for the ideas for the recovery kit.
Positive thoughts and prayers to you Danielle! You’re super prepared and that will help get you through. Can’t wait to see you on the other side of this!
Thank you for the playlist and all your helpful tips! I'm definitely in the "nesting" phase for my upcoming hysterectomy in April, and your video has helped so much ❤
I LOVE the shirt! Amazing!! You are so strong! And thank you for all of the wonderful resources/suggestions with links! You are so considerate to provide that during your time of need! Sending you positive vibes!!
I think you'll do great - you're totally prepared. My 73 year old mom had this surgery last year after finding a baseball sized ovarian tumor and it was much less recovery than we expected. Best of luck!
You are a life saver I am getting my surgery really soon in may so I’m trying to prepare mentally and also figure the things out I will need I hope you have a speedy recovery and thank you ❤
I’m recovering from colon surgery and wish I had seen this video before my surgery. The ice packs your nurse friend were a life saver for me. Some other things that might help is very stretchy leggings and a small step stool to get into bed.
Thank you so much for all your great tips, especially the idea to put all your necessary stuff in a box. I didn’t have a cute storage box like yours but had one my daughter was about to recycle and I have been going up and down the stairs with it. It has all my necessities in it and doesn’t fail in causing a laugh or two bc I am tethered to my little box!
Definitely have you in my thoughts and prayers Danielle. I know you are nervous, so listen to music as much as you can. And take that Valium in the morning just as soon as you can! Love and hugs. 😍❤️🥰🐶💕
The peace and blessings part about life's natural laxative has me lol. I'm am SO DONE with my issues (adenomyosis and had a polyp last year though I'm sure endometriosis and other stuff likely as well). I'm calling my Dr that did the d&c tomorrow and I'm going to state I am NOT interested in ablation. I need to be DONE with this mess. Your story is so similar to mine.
Everyone's advice has been great and you are well prepared. I lived in loose pj bottoms for a week. Walking every day is important as well. Wishing you all the best.
I hope everything went well. You are in my thoughts and prayers. I just had my right ovary removed with a 8cm cyst. My hysterectomy will be in January, and they’ll take my left ovary too and try to remove as much endometriosis as they can. I hope your recovery is going well and look forward to your next update.
My hysterectomy is October 27th 2023. I have a lot of pre op meds to take plus day before surgery miralax and gatorade. Antibiotics I have to take 3 times the day before. I also will be having a bladder mesh sling and pelvic floor physical therapy. I'm ready to get it over with.
Wow, you are prepared. You've got this. I wish you all the luck during surgery and for a gentle recovery. Take care and I can't wait to see you on the other side. Know that you are in my thoughts and prayers.
Your flauless complexion is beautiful, may I ask how you achieve it? And, thank you for the great tips I shall use for my operation in a couple of weeks. Great video Danielle! Well done.
Hope your surgery went well...thinking of you. I had a cold knife cone biopsy of my cervix on October 1st under general anesthesia bc my pap smear and a biopsy came back with high-grade abnormal cells (HSIL is the acronym). Basically my dr removed part of the outer and inner cervix all around. I had some abnormal cells on my vaginal wall too that created some kind of lesion. I have my post-op follow up tomorrow (October 28th...technically today now since it's 12:15am). Luckily I found out it was precancerous cells and not the big C. Don't know why I just shared all that. I feel like people with lady-part issues don't often talk about it. I didn't exactly tell people I was having pretty bad cramping, bleeding, etc for the 1st time in 6 years (since my birth control pill switched and I stopped getting periods in 2015!) So thank you for even talking about this!! I sooo appreciate it.
Hi thank you for sharing just came across this I’m going through this right now! Pretty scared and unsure what to feel. It’s been hard trying to find a relatable story or someone to talk to! I’m 40 btw my doctor is recommending flap surgery to remove my Tumor from my vagina wall.
I had a Myomectomy a month ago. I had no pain after, but I did get Ileus (lazy bowel), which was the worst. But I'm much better now. I'm also still dealing with GERD from not eating before and after surgery
Best of luck, Danielle!!! My best post-op advice is to not wait too long after getting out of recovery to eat (if you’re allowed) - my last sugary I got super sick because I waited too long.
Thank you so much for this video series!! Super helpful to find other women who also haven't had kids but also have endo. I go to Mercy as well and I can attest from my excision surgery a few years ago that the whole staff is amazing. I'm having another excision plus hysterectomy surgery soon. Take care!!
Hi Danielle-I just had a full hysterectomy (DaVinci lapro)this June... Best thing ever! I am not going to lie, I was sore for the first week and half, don't over do it and no lifting or deep bends. Quick tip for you...I used a peri bottle-squirted (warm water) when I had to use the restroom (#1) it helped the burning sensation (from having the cath). You got this! Good Luck! If I had to do it again, I would :-)
I have been diagnosed with Low iron and I think it’s from bad periods heavy bleeding for many years. I have been very tired for awhile!!! So my hysto is elective. I’m ready to not bleed and of course we’re not having more kids. I’m nervous and excited! I hope to heal quickly! Thanks for the info.
When I had a uterine ablation and a tubal ligation, the one thing they didn't tell me was that my entire abdomen was painted up with Betadine. I shuffled home and dropped into bed for 24 hours out cold before I realized. I ended up with a rash for a month from it. Maybe it was just me, but get someone to gently clean that off you sooner than later. Good luck! I wish you a speedy recovery!
Omg I had that happen to me too, ever since that happened every surgery I have baby wipes ready to wipe myself down and take that off. I don’t get why they don’t focus on removing it while you are under? 😆
I love the uterus that is flipping you the bird! The best! I wish you all the luck in the world and am sending you good vibes. Thank you for taking us on your journey. You are so brave ❤️
Hi Danielle. Love that you are sharing your journey. Hopeful you can do it all laparoscopically. But if they end up having to do a full cut, I was saved by a belly band from Hyster Sisters . I have been through the exact same thing and am now doing so well. You got this girl. I ended up needing hormones but I tried to mimicked a natural menopause and was on them for only 3 years. Going less and less each 6 month period...pun intended. Lol.Thoughts and prayers for you.
You're a rock star! Thank you for sharing your journey and all the things that women should be doing to take care of themselves, without any fucking guilt about it! I love you guys💙
Hey there, I just found your channel and I hit subscribe so fast. Haha Thank you for being so funny and down to earth! I'm going in for a hysterectomy soon and I'm SO NERVOUS. I appreciate all your videos. Thank you! ❤
Hi , I’m going to have my hysterectomy soon , I’m 46 ( precancerous cells- CIN 3 came back after few treatments) . Just wanted to say , thank you for your film . I’m scared so so badly :(
Sending you all the best!!! You are so well prepared - not only with all of these things, but you seem to be mentally & physically prepared. You seem like a weight has been lifted from you already. You're ready. It's the right thing to do. Fuck you to that evil uterus (LOVING the shirt btw)! Thank you so much for sharing your struggles, your journey so far & this INCREDIBLE post-surgery prep list! I wish I had thought of some of this when I had my mastectomy. I guess if I have anything to recommend from my own post-surgery experience is to take this time to explore new things. Obviously don't start marathon running or something, but I found an interest in genealogy entirely by accident one bored day & I really enjoyed it. I don't think I could have told you what genealogy was before then. Maybe watch a TV show you might not otherwise, or read a book that's wildly different from your usual interests. You never know what you might discover...or rediscover. And if you hate something, obviously give up on it. There's not much to lose. That's the beauty! Anyway, sending all the best wishes for the surgery & your recovery. I'm so, so happy for you!!!
Danielle, blessings and positive energy to you as you prepare and undergo your surgical procedure! If it helps, I have had a full hysterectomy. For me, at 30 something, it seemed that I no sooner was anesthetized, that I was awake and everything was over! If you become, or even feel that the anesthesia may induce nausea and/or vomiting, please ask the anesthetist to include an anti-nausea med. in your drip while you are under. I learned the hard way that I am very reactive to anesthesia, and post surgery ended up throwing up approx. 25 times! It was a very miserable experience after undergoing a laparoscopic hysterectomy to say the very least! 🤢😩🤮. Also, as you alluded to, the bloating and gas pressure the night of surgery was for REAL! Probably the 2nd most uncomfortable symptom post surgery after heaving so many times after the procedure. Otherwise, I was up and at it (as I had two little ones under foot) the next day, doing way more than I was supposed to be doing. I look back now and wish I hadn’t worked myself up worrying and being anxiety ridden. For me, it just wasn’t worth putting myself thru the wringer leading up to my surgery! You’ve got this, and I’m sure you have done your due diligence to place your well being in the most capable! God’s choicest blessings to you! Will be praying that you have the best ever outcome! ❤️❤️❤️🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
I had robotic hysterectomy 10 days ago and I will tell u the first 2 days were hell and the only thing that gave me relief was a heating pad on my back.I will say I only took one oxycodone at the hospital before leaving and took nothing else for pain because my pulse rate and oxygyn level dropped very low so i was scared to take anything. It all normalized on the 3 day. Also i was expecting to hurt in my stomach but nope it was really horrible back pain.Again heating pad to the back helped me.Do not put a heating pad on your stomach u need ice for that.Oh and I did not need really any pads.I lightly spotted for 2 days then nothing.
Agree that scents are helpful. When walking into room for Cat Scan (I am terribly claustrophobic!), I smelled Vanilla. Asked for permission to rub BBW Vanilla Beal Noel under my nose! It helped tremendously & I am a fan! Also used your link to buy plush hot water doohinkey for my niece-in-law who suffers terrible cramps! Godspeed!
You are so funny 😂love your videos about hysterectomy. It’s what I need as I’m having one soon and I’m Nervous but need it . Bleeding due to fibroids and anemia has me in iron infusions so my doctor said make a decision soon ! It’s affecting my health
Thank you so much for putting these videos together regarding your hysterectomy experience! They’ve been so helpful in mentally preparing for this surgery. I would love to see a follow up of how it went and how recovery was for you. (P.S. The undies that you recommended are amazing!)

I'm so, so scared, I'm booked for surgery, diagnose endomeyosis

Hi dear, I just read your comment, I pray that you overcame the surgery and are in the best state of health! Take care ❤
You are a life saver I am getting my surgery really soon in may so I’m trying to prepare mentally and also figure the things out I will need I hope you have a speedy recovery and thank you ❤
Sending you good vibes 💕💕💕 Just had mine April 14th. All her tips are wonderful!!!! Rest as much as you can 💕
I’m recovering from colon surgery and wish I had seen this video before my surgery. The ice packs your nurse friend were a life saver for me. Some other things that might help is very stretchy leggings and a small step stool to get into bed.
Thank you for sharing your journey❤️ sending you love, light, and positive vibes. Speedy recovery🤞🤞
Wishes & prayers your surgery will bring you much needed relief.🤕
Hospital are cold 🥶
Thank you for sharing. Mines is coming up this year😢😊❤
You are over-prepared! You’re going to do GREAT girl!
Well done.
Thank you!!! Preparation does calm this salvage beast (me).
Hi thank you for sharing
just came across this I’m going through this right now!
Good Luck! If I had to do it again, I would :-)
I can't even express how helpful these videos are. Thank you.
I'm so happy to hear that!
Thank you for this video. It’s helping me to get ready for my surgery 🙏♥️
Nicole I too have heavy periods which lead to low iron/ anemia just had my robot assisted laproscopic hysterectomy left ovaries but I'm day 6 out
When I had a uterine ablation and a tubal ligation, the one thing they didn't tell me was that my entire abdomen was painted up with Betadine.
Gas X and warm beverages to help with gas pains.
Which belly band did you buy ? if you can provide a link that will be great.
Link please if available
Thank You for sharing this, so many great things for tons of us who are getting procedures as well. Sending you well wishes and good vibes!
You're a rock star! Thank you for sharing your journey and all the things that women should be doing to take care of themselves, without any fucking guilt about it! I love you guys💙
Taking notes. Thinking of you. ❤️
Hope your surgery went well. Looked like you had a good handle on what you would need. Hope you feel good soon!
I am having this surgery . I’m worried and I have been preparing too
Hey there, I just found your channel and I hit subscribe so fast.
Great ideas here - I am having surgery November 15 and am definitely going to pick up lozenges!
Good luck with the surgery, sending well wishes it all going to go well .❤️
Wishing you a speedy recovery!
Lots of positivity and prayers your way, Danielle. 💗💗🙏🏼
All the best with your surgery & recovery!
Godspeed!
You are in my prayers 🙏🏻✨
All the best for a speedy recovery .x x
Thank You 💖🌻
“Mother Nature knows how to keep a bitch humble!” This cracked me up! I love it!
Will you tell how to get the cbd sleep aid? I would like to try it too
Hope the surgery goes well and hope you will get rid of your pain 💛
Thanks, that's helped a lot. ❤
I hope you feel better soon! 💞
Sending good vibes for a quick recovery 😍😍
Sending all the good vibes to you!!! 💛💛💛
You are so funny 😂love your videos about hysterectomy. It’s what I need as I’m having one soon and I’m
Nervous but need it . Bleeding due to fibroids and anemia has me in iron infusions so my doctor said make a decision soon ! It’s affecting my health
I'm preparing for My hysterectomy at the end of January does anyone have an idea of how long recovery will be?
Thank you so much for your videos👏🏼🙏🏼
Sending you good vibes and love💚💚💚
Barefoot dreams socks were everything to me last winter.
hi i just had a partial hysterectomy instead of a full one. I’m in pain but I will have no more periods, but I still have to do Pap smears
Thank you so much for putting these videos together regarding your hysterectomy experience! They’ve been so helpful in mentally preparing for this surgery. I would love to see a follow up of how it went and how recovery was for you. (P.S. The undies that you recommended are amazing!)
Coming soon, I promise!
@@ourtimeofthemonth Thank you! I’m looking forward to seeing it. 🤗 I hope that you are recovering well and have a great day!
I had a period going into surgery too
Thank you for being honest and hilarious at the same time. I just found out I get to have my uterus yeeted. So fun.
That's weird my mom has been told not to eat or DRINK anything after dinner the night before the surgery till after she wakes from surgery the next day....
Very informative
Prayers
Have you experienced any body changes or weight gain after your hysterectomy?
Good luck 💕💕💕
