I'm also 73 & agree that he did a great job with a beautiful song. I've listened to all of the great & saw a few & I've never seen a song say so much in such a short time with such a great voice.
No wonder Brazilians love Jack Jones so much and for so many years. His rendition of "Manhã de carnaval" is flawless and transmits all the magic and passion of Luis Bonfá´s poetry.
Posted 9 years ago and still drawing comments! Mine: love how he's absorbed in sorrow, then quickly looks at the camera before singing the last line. It's as if we the viewers really are the one who, until we come back, will give him this lonely day/life. And don't you love how the music suspends/resumes for this? And how, when it starts up again, it's got a repetitive, melancholy sound, as though it could play forever and ever in his endless life? I admit I was fanatical about Jack Jones as a young woman, from the first song I heard him sing (I actually remember such a trivial thing). I was spellbound, obsessed with getting my hands on every recording by him. Good though this song is, he's got much better ones.
This is a song of a hopeful lover to be back to his lover but had gone from his life. A fool such as him is quite understandable. Sir Jack, your style of singing re'lly touched every listener' s.heart and soul. Cool and suave. RIP, idol in heaven.
Jack does a good redition of this song (however short), which is acually titled "Black Orphius". It was written by Luis Bonfa w/ the lyric in Portugues. The title translated into English is 'morning of Carnival
Mr. Jack Jones was truly amazing. Thanks to my grandpa for introducing his music to me. He will always be one of my favorite crooners, comaparable side by side with Matt Monro, Frank Sinatra and Tony Bennett.
Sinatra didn't sing the bit at the end "til you come back to me, that's the way it will be, every day in the life of a fool", not in the recording I heard him sing so I prefer Jack Jones's rendition of the song.
Wonderful voice, but he doesn't have quite the deep emotional delivery that I want to hear. When thinking of emotional delivery, I think of Frank Sanatra as well as Billie Holliday who had only a one-octave range, but her delivery was absolutely without flaw, just as Sanatra's was.
@@robertcronin6603 I'm sorry you misunderstood what I said. My thought was only about DELIVERY - evoking emotion in the listener. I love this song and love hearing it sung with deep feeling -- that's all.
I love Sinatra very much.. but against this performance Franky (sorry) sucks.. Very sensitive.. and artistic.. "I stop just across from your door.." - he nearly dropped a tear.. me too.. :)
Best voice I’ve ever listen to and at age 73 I’ve heard a few. Magnificent perfect pitch and diction, what a gift.
I completely agree, not to be rude but it’s rare to see someone of your age on this platform haha. Have a great day sir!
Paul yes he can sing your not alone Jim O'Donnell N Z
age is a number look at Tony Bennet still up there
Vic Damone could give him a run for his money

Those were the real singers who can sing with artistry and heart! Like an angel's voice...
at 91 Tony Bennett still sings well and packs theaters all over the world. Plus he still sells tons of CDs.
It was a golden age of pop music where a master like Jack Jones was heard on am radio alongside the Beatles and Stones, etc.
The most beautiful and perfect voice in the world singing the most beautiful song I have ever heard, and I have listened to all the best...
Truely a world class voice and singer. I have a stack of his records. Still play them.
No wonder Brazilians love Jack Jones so much and for so many years. His rendition of "Manhã de carnaval" is flawless and transmits all the magic and passion of Luis Bonfá´s poetry.
Poetry was from lyricist Antonio Maria... Bonfá composed the music.
One of the best if not THE best his voice really gets you,saw him 3 times in Birmingham got several of his LPs
Wonderful rendition of this. He can only make something meaningful and beautiful!! Love him and always will!! 🎼🎶🎵❤💋

I love these kinds of music and band of yesteryears....

I LOVE THE VOICE OF JACK JONES
A beautiful singer 👍🌹

Simply splendid Mr. Jones...gracias
I think we must judge all other renditions with this superb rendition of this heartbreak of a song.
I love this song and Jack Jones does a fantastic job on it. Thank you for uploading this.
I keep saying it up there with the greats.
He could be so captivating..perfect! He could carry a song to its deepest meaning.

Perfect pronunciation when he sings as well as being extremely handsome.

Manhã de Carnaval para nos brasileiros
Now that is COOL,
WE ARE ALL FOOLS IN LOVE. BUT WITHOUT LOVE WE MIGHT AS WELL BE DEAD....
Yes ❤️
Nope, there are more wonders and loves in this world, not just romantic love
Great
Jack keep sining
top notch- jj
gawwwjesss....😍

100% and without that part the Franky's version is much weaker..
Totally agreed ... the song is not completed without the last sentence
Just do what you do well for as long as can and thanks
Ginger and Butch 💕
His face is mystically attractive and beautiful... I would love to see him the US President ))) no one would say "No"..
You're probably right.

Does anyone know Who is the father of Jack Jones?
Sorry Sir Jack but I was wrong when I typed RIP. It was meant for another singer. My apology please accept.
Top Drawer, as the Brits say.
I've never heard Billie do it - I'll have to check that out 👍

@@ojshilinski8358 no, my mistake - I should not have spoken negatively about anyone as they are both very, very good at their art.
@@robertcronin6603 Thank you - you are a gentleman and a scholar
I think you miss his subtleties.
Remember L Bonfa
She's not coming back.
JACK JONES..????...WHERE WAS THIS GUY.???...WHEN AMERICAN SINGER WERE..PERFECT..!!
Jack WAY BETTER than Sinatra.!
Agreed... Just a lot less ego and self-importance and it shows through in his singing and his delivery
*******
I love Sinatra very much.. but against this performance Franky (sorry) sucks..
Very sensitive.. and artistic..
"I stop just across from your door.." - he nearly dropped a tear.. me too.. :)
Three viewers have no taste.
Senza offesa ma è la brutta copia del grande frank
different performance.. this one is softer and more sensitive.. Franky sings it "his way".. like a man ))
This is the song for Frank Sinatra .... You'll not be ever like him
Frank is the best
"Jack Jones, has the best voice in the business" ~ Frank Sinatra
I like FRANK for some things...and jazz. But for this BOLERO i do like Jack a lot better he def. express the feeling of sadness. I love it.
Franky sings this song like a strong man should sing it.. without snots and snivels.. two different performances in principle..
