- In this video I go through the fabrication process of building "the mandalorian" thigh armor out of aluminum. Templets are up on TheWeldingGeek Facebook group please read the announcement at the top of page.
Man, you are awesome fabricator...so easy, no backstep in work. Pure craftmanship..bravo!
The whole kit? Including his ship? 😉😉
How the hell do you not have more followers? You are a welding legend my friend. Good freaking job!
Most mandalorians started with a beskar helm and then had to earn and pay for additional beskar armor. In the meantime they had durasteele armor. Boba, and Jango did not have beskar armor or helms. Mando in the new Disney series started with a beskar helm, then obtained a shoulder piece, then obtained enough beskar to have second shoulder, chest, back both arms/curráis pieces and one thigh piece. Most of the mandalorians in the new show are not wearing beskar armor. Some do not even have beskar helms. You can tell by the battle damage on the armor. Beskar was not supposed to dent, scratch or deform, instead if a hit was strong enough it would shatter. At least based on my geeing out on the lore.
Sad thing is this is now incorrect
By the time you made this comment it was correct but now boba/ jango’s armour is beskar lol
Great job. Amazing work
So excited to see the complete kit!
Awesome job! I’ll look for the vids on the rest of your pieces, I’d love to have the specs for the pieces.
Man kits turning out awesome, well done
I cannot wait to see this done...works of art.
Awesome work my dude! Loving see it all come together
I’ve been waiting for another one of these !!!!
I've seen some amazing art where they draw all kinds of shapes by TIG welding. I've seen massive mandalas and weaves done with cup walking techniques.
Great work, Do you do custom orders?
Hey man I have this feeling the Mandalorian will end up with a complet kit of Beskar armor by the end of the story.. Do you agree? and will you consider making this set of armor in advance of the finale?
I do agree but I have no clue what the rest will look like so I’ll probably make the changes after they show up on the show or if there are new screen shots before that episode airs
I think there's going to be a lot of mandalorians in the next year. Not all will have actual metal armour only a very select few.
& one that actually answers utube comments questions a select few indeed.
Fantastic work 👍.
Would love to see you make city hunter predator armour with helmet to. Recon that would look awesome.
Just wanted to say thanks.
awsome work dude
Well done, good sir !
nice
You should do t shirts with your logo. It is very marketable
I once cut a whole set of Jango armour from sheets of galvanized steel with tin snips, I was going to back it with fiberglass with studs for mounting embedded in the fibreglass.
I like your mounting system better but do you feel the screws on any of your bones?
And how heavy are your aluminum with foam armours + vest?
So does your shop just allow you to do this off the clock or is there payment for use of all that equipment? If they just allow you, you are so lucky to work for such a good shop.
Yeah I do this off the clock, and yup they just let me use it, honestly if other fab shops aren’t doing the same they are missing out. the amount of stuff I’ve been able to learn without the fear of screwing stuff up is priceless it has benefited the shop immensely I can’t overstate that
what are the next parts you will be making ? i am excited to see how you are going to make the hummingbird launcher on the gauntlet
Can I get a full set of mando armour? I'll pay with one whole bag of skittles.
Yes. Yes. Yes.
How did you paint the right thigh?
Great work!
Do you make and sell them?
So I take it your making a full mandalorian armor set from the show, also would a Chicago screw work well for mounting the plates
Yes and Chicago screws work awesome for mounting plates
@@theweldinggeek awesome because I'm trying to make my self a cardboard prototype that I plan to coat with resin
do u sell them?
Are you planning to build The Mandalorian's Rifle? I am really anxious for someone to take this project on as something other than MDF and PVC or a 3d Printing exercise.
At the least I will attempt it
I know alloy is pretty light but isn't the armour set pretty heavy all in all? Do you have a time limit to wear the full armor set until maybe your back starts to hurt or your knees? Video was great! :)
It’s not to heavy if things are set right you can wear it a long time
They keep coming out great! Just one question, the beat-up thigh plate looks like the same finish as the other beskar armor..why didn't you polish it, as well. I haven't seen the Mandalorian yet, for reference.
I think it was the original brown/red plate patched up and changed colour when he got his beskar armour. Don't quote me on it though.
It will get painted
@@theweldinggeek This is the way.
How many metal parts are there left? And do you also sew the clothes of the mandalorian?
Hip, butt, back, hand, and shin plates are left I believe
And I’m going to attempt all the soft parts as well
Ahh very cool!
@@theweldinggeek I'm sure you already know this, but cloth doesn't like to be welded. Use a needle and thread.
Im surprised he hasnt yet made the armourer’s helmet and just.... “this is the way” as he builds armour.
are you stupid he already made it
What tools do _you_ recommend we start collecting to get into this? Maybe we have access to a shop and some of the bigger tools (e.g. TIG welder, giant shear, shop air), but want to start collecting our own smaller tools that we can take care of (e.g. tin snips, angle tool thingy, planishing hammer, those big plastic hammers, some other kind of hammer?, air tools, dies to put in an anvil). David Guyton has something (www.amazon.com/shop/davidguyton), but I'm curious to see your take.
Those all sound great I would add sand bags, deburr tool, automatic center punch, Cleco pliers with 1/8” clecos, a nice drill, drill bit index, rotobroach set just off the top of my head
Where do you get your temp plates from?
Templets are on TheWeldingGeek Facebook group lease read the announcement at the top of the group
I wish I lived in the US I'd be seeking you out to make some more. I'd pay you in beskar, credits $ or £s or anything else within reason.
Hey TheWeldingGeek I was wondering what your Instagram was.
How tall are you and how much do you weigh so I can scale the templates to myself
5’10” 180lbs
TheWeldingGeek oh damn, I’m basically the same, nice!

Isn't there like a ton of aluminum dust when you sand it down? I mean, that stuff gets into your skin and irritate like hell, doesn't it?
There is a lot of dust but it’s never irritated my skin like carbon or fiberglass dust does.
May the Schwartz be with you.
