For me it's the price, i'll just walk in whenever they have sales because their prices are ridiculous and their quality has gone down. It's pretty sad.
I had one victoria secret bra that only lasted me one year before falling apart and my arie bras are still in great shape at 8 years old. I have a bra from target that has lated me longer. VS bras are simply not worth what they cost
The fact that they’re so expensive and don’t really stock that many sizes. Still have that kinda of tacky early 2000s Paris Hilton, popular kid aesthetic.
I’m into the 2000s aesthetic and clothes and I like vs pink but I specifically do not shop there due to the lack of inclusivity, the lack of affordability, and the bad quality.
@Shispirina I have to disagree with you. My college roommate was a hefty girl and she always found underwear in her size at Victoria Secret. She was pretty huge, Now I know they never wanted overweight women in their fashion shows. But they also never wanted the waif type models. They liked women's bodies like Tyra Banks which was full bodied and properly proportioned.
@Shispirina The VS sizes went really big OMG how big do people expect them to go!?! I wouldn't consider it a size restriction. At 100lbs and 5'5" they didn't even go down to my size in many of their clothing items. Wow I couldn't imagine being so large as to not fit into VS broad range of sizes! Damn time for people to look at what they are eating and drinking - soft drinks and McDonalds don't create people of a healthy size/weight, VS is wise to not accommodate the morbidly obese. Plus I don't want to be paying for the extra materials for fat people to buy clothes from the same range as me - there should be independent stores for the morbidly obese to shop at where they can cover the cost of the extra materials out of their own pocket and the clothes can be made to fit their body shape (the patterns would need to change as body shapes change considerably from those who would fit the normal size range VS offers and the morbidly obese who couldn't fit VS).
Natalie NZ i don’t fit at VS, and i’m 5’1 and a size 0, but in bras I wear a 28K. I’m almost underweight and their bras are too small for me. Bigger people aren’t the only busty people. No brands in the US make a size that fits me, and it’s not asking for too much to be able to buy undergarments.
I remember back in the day. They had silk pajamas and they played classical music. It was so pretty and it reminded me of old Hollywood. Now it is just trash.
Hey Heather! I've never stepped inside a VS, but I believe you. I saw a Classics by Request CD by the London Symphony Orchestra, commissioned by Victoria's Secret, at the thrift store. I did not buy it, but it had great, romantic classics. Today, with the Pink brand and the way the fashion show is going, it doesn't feel so nice. I review the 2018 show from a Christian perspective on my channel. Take care!

I loved watching them, and I still watch older ones once in a while, It's just that the newer ones are boring af. And every big brand has a fashion show, Victoria's secret is no exception.
I never watched them. I'm a fit girl and can appreciate all bodies of different sizes but as a straight female idk if I can watch a whole hour of women walking half naked. It does nothing for me.
The underwear fall apart in the wash. I'm not hand washing a basic pair of underwear, the equivalent style of a pair of Hanes. Neon looks incredibly cheap. I wear a 36D and it's hard to find that very common size in store. Not only that, women who can afford their clothes don't want to have ugly logos and the word "pink" on everything. Their beauty items look cheap and if I can afford a $60 bra, I don't want the equivalent of a Coty body spray. The stuff looks cheap, the stores are a mess, and they have too many sales where it's a free for all where you have to dig through messy bins to find underwear.
@@senzubean92 Throwing a basic pair of underwear that has no lace or embellishments into the washing machine and the elastic casing unravels. That's poor quality. Hand washing shouldn't be required for the equivalent of a pair of Hanes.
Yup, and design wasn't thought though - e.g. no silicone on no-show underwear, butt seam, cups too wide apart, too-long straps for shorter women, texture on cups that shows through, etc etc etc
Yes, I noticed the quality went way down. Then Savage Fenton hit the market. I think it is over for VS. I haven’t used my credit card all year. They aren’t even sending my free panties. Their panties are super cheap btw.
The reason why Victoria's Secret fell is because Victoria's Secret fell. Their stores went from nice beautifully decorated stores with classical music and the scent of their signature lotions in the air. To a college dorm with bright colors and cheap smelling mass-produced perfume! And let's not forget about this stupid pink campaign. Victoria's Secret sold out that's what they did
I think the music artists performing during VS shows the best part. I love high fashion and modeled haute couture in Paris but even I can only watch a lingerie show so many times before it becomes redundant. I also am annoyed at how every model wannabe aspires to become a VS model instead of real high fashion model Style with Elsa Klensch inspired my modeling career. Not becoming a tacky lingerie model. Lingerie models looked better healthy than what they send down the VS runway.
Ladyy X I noticed that too. I think around 2011 /2012 the panties seemed to made of less material and cheaper fabrics. I still have PINK sweatpants from 2008 that still going strong, no way you’d find that quality today
When did the quality start to go down? I have lots of VS stuff purchased between 2010-2013 and its all still in great condition so I haven't needed to buy anything new in years.
Ok, that's just nitpicking. Almost every name brand clothing iteam has the name of the brand or the brand's symbol SOMEWHERE on the piece. It's how it is recognized and distinguished
Tamlyn Adolph Agreed. Men don’t care about this crap. Hate to say, I’ve never met a guy who really cared THAT much about a girls underwear. Not saying men don’t get turned on by girls underwear but it’s just not the biggest deal to them. Men like more athletic, cute and sporty now ... as do women.
yup! Regardless of the name brand or how much you pay for it, I don't think most men care what the lingerie looks like. It all comes off exactly the same way.
Rebecca exactly. My target bras hold up better. I’m wearing a VS bra right now and I’m SICK of readjusting these stupid straps. The quality is poor. I like the body products though
They destroyed their brand with Pink. Pink has taken over the VS stores, and seems to be targeted to teens. I’m 24 and feel like I’m too old to shop there. It feels like Aeropostale back in the day, where you’re just buying items with the brand name on it, and eventually the brand isn’t cool anymore.
Soo true. I’m 18 and I won’t even buy clothing from there because I know it’ll most likely go out of style. Reminds me of the tacky Hollister/ Abercrombie &fitch/ Aeropostale days around 10 years ago.
There's no Victoria's Secret in my country and I'm kind of out of the loop as far as this brand goes. What do you mean by saying they're not inclusive?
Does not inclusive mean "fat acceptance"? VS brand would definitely taint if they include plus size models, I'm pretty sure they will definitely go downhill after that.
I recently covered and reviewed the 2018 Fashion Show. I can agree that VS is overpriced and (sometimes) poor quality, but not being inclusive? Their clothing is not for men to wear. I also think that they should promote healthy body sizes: not too small, not too big, but just right.
@@AKSmith15 i doubt that, if they included all women, and actually portrayed women as they are in reality, and up the quality of their products i think they would do very well. Most women are not bone thin and most women dont have that model figure and i think men sometimes forget that.
It’s funny because whenever I saw clips of those fashion shows I never thought women were the targeted audience. It always felt like a brand made for men
...and this is what happens when you have older white men running companies. inclusivity is the name of the game now and when u are late to the party folks wanna know why. this mass machine of pumping out inferior product at a high price AND u don't care about ur core consumer is not what retail is about today.
@@CC-si3cr I highly disagree with you it's because of the leftist ideologies are creeping into society so the tall thin beautiful models of today are the perpetrators tomorrow and I get that many girls have eating disorders but some girls are born not thin and some girls are born not fat .
1. Their underwear and bras are pretty pricey 2. Their merchandise doesn't last nearly as long as it used to 3. Now it seems like their bras are geared more towards being seen than being worn. How am I gonna wear a glittery strappy bra under a v-neck tshirt? Or any light fabric? Absolutely not worth it. 4. At least they have PINK going for them, which seems to be doing fairly well. I personally would rather spend 50 dollars on a hoodie than spend 60 on a single bra.
So true. Even the more simple bras will have prominent seams or too textured lace that shows through shirts and dresses. So annoying. They have become a lot more uncomfortable, too. I worked there a long time ago and the quality was better.

I had a PINK collegiate style hoodie for a while during my trans-denial phase and Tumblr fitspo-preppy phase and wholeheartedly agree. It was a bright turquoise 2011 hoodie worn on a trip to LA in the spring. Fun and cute, better than the undies, and not my style now, but it worked for a bit.
I always thought they were trying to appeal to college girls??? Maybe that's why they have those prints but tbh its confusing who their main demographic are when I see mostly tweens and middle aged women in there. Who are they trying to appeal to?
As a baby adult who is learning about the true price of living; it is unjustifiable to me to spend over $30 on a bra that only truly adds a label to my wardrobe. I can get cheaper, cuter, and more flattering undergarments and clothing at any other store. VS fails to recognise who the consumers are as people, and that we no longer care about the label but the quality of the clothing.
They are trying to market to SJW type girls. The ones that wear bras instead of shirts to try to make a statement. I'm in college and I see it😞 They need to go back to their original branding and see their prices just alittle to bring ppl back
I stopped patronizing them when I realized how much better the bras at TJ Maxx were and Soma...if I wanted to spend more but bringing on that "model" ugh made me realize how Im no longer interested in their brands message
Alliee Raee honestly, I get some of the fancier bras pricing, but last time I went they had a 5 for 30 deal on panties on one display, and right next to it there was another that said 2 for 30. The panties looked exactly the same and when I asked why one was more expensive I was told that it’s because the second display has “sexier” panties
Girl With A Laptop wow that’s laughable. You are right about obviously having higher prices for fancier bras but the fact that their underwear is so expensive when it’s very cheaply made and a lot of the clothes I have have gone up in price drastically like leggings are literally $80. $80? They used to be a lot cheaper
Alliee Raee jeez I didn’t know it got that bad, I bought my leggings on sale 😂 But without that sale $80 isn’t what those things are worth, they’re comfy but not $80 worth of comfy. And you know I really don’t mind a higher price tag, as long as it equals the quality. I’ve read some other comments talking about how they used to have silk products too, that would be great to bring back, and separate vs and pink as brands because they have no need to be blended together so much. Thanks for coming to my ted talk lol
Ryte u set ur mind on buying something then you have to either save up or wait on taxes or just plane out dont buy it lol too high if they got lower cost ur ryte more people would buy and they would rise again have a midnite sale or something nationwide or something
They would be doing a whole lot better if they actually sold quality products. Their quality especially at pink is crap and the prices are ridiculous. They should have kept the swim suits, that was the only thing worth buying.
Yeah I miss their swimwear range. Though I purchased many pieces before the line was discontinued and they are all still in great condition despite all the beach trips.
Maybe if they lowered their prices they’ll make more profit. Who tf pays 80 dollars for 1 bra? Also there’s way more brands with better quality and with affordable price tags.
For those of us who are bigger and bustier.... $80 for 1 bra is considered a steal. But the expensive bras we do buy are built to last and are super comfortable
The fashion show ratings went down in 2015 when gigi and kendall first appeared. Just saying. I think women find it hard to relate to teenage girls like Kendall, gigi, Bella, Taylor hill and stella. Women related more to girls like Adriana Lima, heidi and Tyra.
The reason VS is failing is because their quality has reallly gone downhill in the last 6 years or so. Their bras and clothes used to be everything. I find myself shopping at Aerie more and more. The quality has gone way down, but they still charge the same high prices. Nobody is going for that.
Same! Aerie is the only affordable store that carries a large range of sizes too. Where else can you get a 30d size that isn't from some expensive bra boutique...

@@THELANKANCOMRADE I agree, if you are big, you just are, get over it. If you're a transperson, understand that, know that and move on. No one is stopping anyone from being anything but anybody needs to "stay in their lane". If they don't, they bring stuff on themselves👀
Being overpriced, low quality, non-inclusive, not market forward, refusing to change, and not listening to the women who actually buy their products? The fashion show is cool but the brand will fade to nothing in 10 years, rightfully so
@Salazar If I wanted a bra as overpriced as VS I would go to some fancy French boutique and get a fitting, in the bra world (or at least where I live) VS is the FARTHEST thing from a fancy restaurant.
@Salazar Yeah, people want to feel that they are wearing something special; and VS's trashy looking, plasticy, made in china crap is NOT it. I dunno what restaurants you are going to, but if you think VS is like a fancy restaurant, you must never have worn it; then you would know it is like buying sushi in a plastic bin from the kwik-e-mart. It was fancy like 15 years ago.
@Salazar If that is so, there are many other brands that has way higher quality that is more fairly priced that looks even better. If you are just a watcher, you would know nothing about the quality of the underwear. There are ultimately women who buy this underwear, and if the brand refuse to adapt to the demands of the buyers. I can't say I feel pity for their downfall.
VS has fallen because: 1) quality needs to be better 2) need to carry larger sizes!! 3) definitely bring back swimwear and clothing 4) stop catering to a younger crowd, it's starting to feel a bit juvenile (I mean that's why you have the pink section) 5) maybe revamp the stores. are they feeling a bit out dated? 6) pick better models that are good brand reps. And they're getting too skinny. think: Tyra, Heidi, Giselle, Doutzen 7) have better shows: bring back the original runway mixes, maybe less music acts (there were 8 this year, but maybe it's to make up for less model-personalities they have now-a-days), stop recycling the same costume themes.
TheSuperNats I feel the irritation definitely but please remember employees are made to ask you about those kinds of things, they’d also much rather get you checked out and on your way nice and speedy but retail is about making money. Please don’t hold it against the sales girls who are just trying to make some cash to pay their bills.
You know what it is there's no more known beloved models in the Victoria secret catalogs like Adriana Lima, Miranda Kerr, Candice, Alexandra and Gizele, Behati all this known models also is why we liked the catalogs and clothes really they don't have any known models that appeal to us anymore like who is modeling for Victoria now? we don't know them anymore and we don't care
Bottom line is: if you are going to sell pricey items, make sure they're quality items. Don't be thinking collabs and reducing physical stores will turn it around...
afonsords yeah I'm not going to buy a more expensive pair of Uggs @ Victoria's Secret when I can buy a cuter pair from the actual Ugg website that is not basic/ hasnt been seen a thousand times
@@lerulara Except they missize you if it means a sale. I was a size too big for their store but the associate lied to my face and pressured me into a bra that was uncomfortable. Took me getting resized by a luxury retailer to find my size.
Women have grown more comfortable with their bodies and Victoria's Secret never embraced this change. VS kept designing for men's fantasies and not what women wanted or needed. They don't embrace their clientele.
Tanuki Women don’t need to be fat. Selling somebody an idea that overweight is “comfortable” or “authentic” is very destructive to the female condition.
@@mattkierkegaard9403 Your comment is "destructive to the female condition." As Charmed said, there was no mention of the weight of the women in my post. You said that.
not every woman is built like a super model and trying to tell women, or anyone in general, that’s what they should look like, isn’t realistic. it causes body image issues and causes young people to be more susceptible to developing eating disorders.
Stop hiring instagram models to walk the runway shows, stop making brightly coloured bras that look like teenagers should be wearing them, bring back the swim line, use a variety of different body types, and stop putting performers on stage with the models. There problem solved.
@@caovuonglam Maybe that's what you want models to look like, but they do not accurately represent the average size of women in the U.S, so they're therefore unrelatable and make girls feel bad about themselves. Not saying skinny is bad, that's just not what most women who shop there even look like

true. I have a vs credit card and kinda regret getting it cause they are expensive and plaid out. I like their stuff but it's not hip. They're marketing needs to get current like how Rihanna managed to make her marketing current appealing to instagram users and the trends of modern day slang. Her stuff truly isnt all that better than VS but it's somewhat reasonably priced and targets all sizes of women.
Well, the show gets worse and worse every year. The best was probably around early 2000. Models were elegant and beautiful. Now it’s just some teen age models waving blowing kisses. Nothing worth watching.
As a straight male, I watch female fashion shows to see women; not men. If someone wants to see men on the run way; or men who dress up like women in a magazine, then that's their preference;; but it's not mine. If they start putting men on the run way then I won't be watching. What's next? the Miss America pageant. Women's Golf ? It's a womens' contest dumbasses!
More: There are WHITE MEN (and women) who IDENTIFY AS BLACK; and ALTER their appearance to look black (even use technology and surgery). But the NAACP has every right to deny them a "black scholarship" meant for natural black people. It doesn't mean the NAACP is "trans-phobic" in a racial sense. The same logic applies with Victoria's Secret or Miss America turning down men.
YES!! there are a couple of cute ones but when they put kylie jenner on the roster, i knew they were really desperate. not like the 90s models that is FOR SURE
Potassuim_Cation and soooo much more comfortable. VS is the only bra band I need to go up to a C cup and it still barely holds my chest omg. Aerie and EVERY OTHER BRAND I wear a B cup.

The decline was when they started marketing the Pink clothing line and selling disgusting cheap scents. Basically, the focus should have stayed on lingerie.
I think the brand PINK was their biggest downfall for me. (according to this video the brand PINK appealed to the young girls) I used to go to Victoria’s Secret and buy a few things occasionally. Eventually I saw a bunch of 12-year-olds and such coming into the store. I noticed all the makeup had nothing but shimmer! there wasn’t a single matte eyeshadow!!!! tbh adriana was there for TOO long I feel like she overstayed her welcome. It's odd how all the other models have major stuff going for them but outside of the strictly model work and some dating rumors / failed relationships she has nothing going for her business wise or brand wise. I say this as a former ultimate stan of Adriana I was her biggest fan and always paid attention to her. I dont expect her to be a mogul like tyra or tv personality but she stayed too long. It's a double edged sword cause she helped make VS What it is but at the same time she cause of that she sorta indirectly adds to the problem.
@123fort andbree nah I don't feel overpriced is the issue it's the fact they are consistently overpriced and still hiking prices up with POOR MARKETING and outdated approaches as well models / spokeswomen who don't embody the brand the way it use to. they're trying to stay current in a weird way. Rihanna stuff is overpriced if you think about it for Savage and Fenty but people will eat it up cause it's her and she's so great with marketing.
@Hippie Laney yep bingo. if they were doing a big marketing thing like rihanna utlizing big girls need for stuff and kept the prices consistently mid tier they would be ok. They don't cater to bigger women and they don't market to trends.
I only buy European made bras. VS is a joke, once you put on a real bra you will be shocked. You have to go to a lingerie boutique, it’s expensive but worth it.
The quality has gone downhill. I have a Wal Mart bra and underwear set that lasted longer than any of my Victoria’s Secret pieces for a fraction of the price.
That's pretty sad. I had no idea Victoria's Secret's quality had fallen so sharply, but we're seeing this throughout the comment section. They used to have a reputation for being so glamorous, too.
Yeah their quality use to be nice, I have an old victoria secret bra I got probably 10 years ago that is still nice. I bought myself a cute red bra maybe a year/2 years ago? The wire broke in less than a year. The underwear I bought have started forming holes and I bought them in 2018. and I wash my items gently (I air dry and wash my bras and underwears in baggies to keep them safe) They were stupid expensive and they didn't even last.
I spent my 20s and 30s being pinched, squeezed and scratched by my clothing in the name of sexiness - and I was pretty close to this "body ideal" they sell - it was still uncomfortable. I'm so pleased to see Millenials rejecting this. Ladies - how are we meant to run the world with underwires digging in all day?? :) Such an important shift: deciding how we want to be, and not caring so much how we're seen.
Carrie Lynn run the world? lol 😂 brainwashed much? In 15 years you’ll have your cats to keep you company at night while you go to your cubicle all day long...
I don't do underwires either so I buy only their non underwire bras (they have a few) and the bras with heavy padding over the underwire ( they have a few). Also I wait until they have their semi-annual sale to buy them at lower prices.
VS lingerie is poor quality, tacky and HORRENDOUSLY overpriced. Plus they decided to not have real runway models and hired rich IG model teenagers who are mediocre at best. Their brand has become a joke.
then why do instagram models get all the likes, saves, and comments on instagram? btw, just teasing you. most instagram models are too short to be on the runway.
Totally agree its the new models they have that no one cares about. We want to see supermodels like before. The naomis and heidis!!!! Thats what we want. For me it's the ethics and the low quality. If I'm going to spend money it'll be on a high quality, ethically produced bra. Their stuff doesn't last and I don't like their brand.
The Limited Brands have always had low-quality production problems since the 1980s. There are articles about how they try to make the cheapest products possible, so it's no surprise that people don't buy their stuff because they either don't last or are terrible as soon as you buy them.

I have zero pity for VS or L brands. First of all that so-called fashion show was never for us, it was for men. These shifts in culture and consumer habits have been coming for a long time and how could L Brands not see it? I could. Vs doesn't represent that values or tastes of young women. When my mom shopped there at least there was some sophistication but now its trashy and the quality isn't there.
Their PINK! line exploded and took over most of their brick and mortar stores. At first I liked the more casual sub-brand as they were cheaper then the rest of VS's products and still of good quality. But then they started with bombastic colors and prints that weren't functional under plain shirts. Even their general lounge wear was bright neons and ultra thin materials. Trashy, like you said.
@@ShaudaySmith yeah it seems like the Pink line did take over and pretty quickly took a nose dive, it went from being super popular to a year or two later, no one wearing it. Honestly, my biggest issue with them is that they're not size inclusive. My size, a 36h is too big get at VS and too small for plus sized stores so I end up paying $80 a bra. Lol at any given moment my bra is easily the most expensive article of clothing Im wearing! 😄
Yes, they've been catering to men and also teenagers with their Pink brand. I remember thinking in the early 2000's using Adrianna Lima as a model was inappropriate, she looked too young to be modeling lingerie even if she was old enough she had an underage look. I was shopping with my daughter at the mall back then and see this huge wall size image of Adrianna Lima, I got a bad feeling about the direction they we're going in then. Adrianna is beautiful but that shift in who they were trying to appeal to was when they're brand starting alienating women.
Dont be a hater. Men still be investing in their stocks. Heck the only reason CBS and VIACOM funds the brand is because men make the majority of the fashion show views. They make the real money as they buy it for their wives on their special day to this day.
This. 15 years ago I used to shop there, IF I could find a D cup that wasn't white, nude, or black. Eventually I just gave up and went somewhere else instead of wasting a whole trip to the mall just to be told "sorry, but we do have it in nude!"
I've nothing and they measured me a 32DD. I buy a 32B in every other store it's definitely a store for small breasted women. Even the actual models are all flat chested.
I was fired for carrying the $5 and $10 off cardboard ticket that customers get for a their bras.I kept those for my notes as a cashier. The manager didn’t even check the cameras to SEE I didn’t steal a piece of cardboard. They haired lots of girls and wanted to get rid of us.It didn’t matter is we worked hard.Disgusting company.
Shaoqin Yang I agree. I am a 34DD and I bought Body by Victoria for years because they held me up so well!! I feel like now it is harder to find the cuter bras in supportive styles and sizes.
“Unrealistic body type” means that it doesn’t represent the average woman. I see a lot of people saying that “as long as that body type exists it’s not unrealistic” but they’re missing the above point. In addition, NO ONE is trying to discredit you if you look like that. I just got done reading a comment thread about this where some women who claim that they do look like this were attacking other women for being “jealous” and “lazy,” but what they don’t understand is that many woman literally DO NOT have the time or even body type it takes to achieve a body like a VS model. Some people are too short or even too tall or don’t have the bone structure. But some people also might have the potential and CAN’T because they’re working 40+ hours a week and can’t spend 10+ hours a week at the gym, or they’re mothers who prioritize their children over looking like a model, or they’re in school and want to focus on schoolwork instead. There is an infinite number of reasons that women may not be able to look like the women in VS ads, and they shouldn’t be called “lazy and jealous” because of that. Beyond that, women shouldn’t be attacking other women over this. Unrealistic standards are something that ALL women have to deal with, and we should be leaning on each other to help overcome them, not going at each other’s throats because maybe you do fit into one standard.
Ramdom Guy first of all, you’re not free all 24 hours of the day. You’re supposed to sleep 8-9 hours, leaving you with only 15-16 hours that you’re awake. If you work a full time job then you’re spending about 8 of those hours at work, maybe even more depending on your job. It’s about the way you prioritize your time, and the average women doesn’t prioritize looking like a VS model. On top of that, VS models work out for HOURS. It not like taking 20 minutes to go on a run every day will make someone look like that. These are all valid reasons that a woman might not look like a VS model. Another good one? Most women ARE NOT VS models, so why should they have to look like one? Secondly, this is quite hypocritical coming from someone named hiding behind the username “Random Guy” and a red screen of a profile picture. I doubt you’d go up to a woman in real life and say this to her.
Ramdom Guy also, you can look up VS angel workouts. They often work out for at least an hour twice a day. Also, if they only do it a week before a show it STILL promotes an unrealistic standard because they don’t even look like that all of the time yet other women are expected to.
Panther God that’s cool. But there’s more than one type of women out there. It’s good for companies to offer representation to more than just one type of body size.
Reggieincontrol It started to die in the mid 2000’s and completely ended once those Kardashian girls took over among other celebrities like Jennifer Lawrence and stuff who weren’t supermodels became popular. Now everyone wants a big butt (except for me) and anorexic has shifted to “workout girl”. Heroin chic is over.
I find it interesting that runway viewership and public image starts to drop, the same year they decide to introduce no talent children, like the Hadid sisters and Kendall Jenner...
They need to choose a market and stick to it. If they want to sell the ideal of skinny, beautiful, fantasy lingerie, they need to up their prices and quality. It's been consistently shown that if you price your items at, say, $100, but once a month have a flash sale that lowers the price to $40, people will value your items at $40. This has happened to handbag companies like MK, where there is a severe disconnect between branding and customer perception. They want to be seen as a luxury item, but because of their flash sales and accessibility, their time as a "status symbol" is over. VS needs to either change that, and begin to market themselves as an accessible, inclusive brand (like Aerie) or double down on it and improve quality and stop having flash sales (like Lululemon).
When the body by Victoria’s Secret bras came out my wife was so in love with it that she threw away all her other bras & bought almost a dozen of the new bras - she was afraid they might stop making them so she loaded up!
Your right, and I loved the original Body by Victoria. They were so soft snd sooo comfortable on the skin. Now they sell a knockoff version. Not the ssme!!
Yeah, I had one. They were really nice quality. I used to like VS, there pink clothing is nice last time I checked but I don't want to spend $50 on comfy pants.
I’m my opinion on why they are failing... for the annual runway show: letting models from extremely rich families model that are average looking at best ( not unique bombshells.) The VS stores: wayyyyy overpriced for the quality.
“In 2016, Victoria's Secret stopped selling swimwear, shoes, accessories and apparel that were only sold in online Victoria's Secret stores to stay more focused on the lingerie, fragrances and sleepwear that are still available in stores and online. In 2017 Victoria's Secret began to put more emphasis on bralettes (bras without underwire, often intended to be worn visibly) and sports bras (under the Victoria Sport label) to appeal to a younger customer base. The company announced that it would bring back swimwear starting from spring 2019.” Took me barely 5min to find out the real reason.

@@RedAndTheCompany567 which is fine, when buying lingerie, but not very much so when trying to buy stuff to wear on the daily. if your normal bras fall apart after 2 weeks, how can we trust anything wlse they make? especially with them cutting out swimsuits, shoes, ect.
As a longtime customer of VS, I have observed that the brand has changed a lot over the past 5 years. Their target demographic has changed to cater to younger girls. I remember supermodels like Gisele, Tyra, Naomi, and Adriana power strutting down the runways. Those alpha women with their individuality spoke to other women; it was empowering. Their quality has also gone downhill. I’m not paying $50 for a bra that will last a few washes. Society has also shifted in response to what VS has been selling. Women all shapes and sizes advocate for their sizes to be sold in stores. The fantasy that VS promotes does not satisfy women long-term. VS has also been under fire due to their comments dismissing plus size and transgender women. Sadly, this is a brand I used to adore, but now, it doesn’t speak to me as much.
I dont want plus size or transgender.. Why do people always go to the extremes. Can we get people in the middle?? Plus size are always some fat chick that does not represent most people and transgender women had all the surgeries to look hot and feminine while I'm stuck being natural and not as glamorous, CANT RELATE. Put regular and curvy women between size 6-12. That's where most women fall in.
They actually tried to do plus size a few years ago, but there was no interest. And considering their brand, I think it is completely fair if they don't want to cast transgender/other types of models. They have a very specific brand, and they would loose business if they changed it. Nothing against other kind of models at all, but all models should be hired because their skills and image fit the brand, not just to 'include' others. If you give other models special treatment, you are undermining their particular strength, beauty and skills, and making them into a charity case or a PR stunt. And that would not be okay either.
It's too bad that they can't get something simple, like a pyjama, done right. L Brands owned La Senza for many years, but axed pyjamas (which were of great quality) there completely. At the end of the day, quality triumphs over star power.
The mists are nice, I still have one from years ago that smells quite sweet and it's long-lasting, but the perfumes are way too overpriced for their longevity.
Fun Fact: Victoria secrets was created because Raymond went buy some stuff for his wife but was treated like a pervert by shop assistants. He opened his own shop and called it Victoria’s Secret because of a joke, how all Victorians were supposedly all prim and proper and sexless so he thought about calling it Victoria as a joke. Sexiest company named for a supposedly sexless women. Lol I’m not saying she was tho
The store founder, Roy Raymond, invented Victoria's Secret to help his wife find prettier clothes than boxed undies, but also to help husbands when visiting the lingerie store with their wives. With the decline of marriage, the rise of the "hook-up" Pink brand and VS clothes dropping in quality, the store changed a lot in recent decades.
@@monalisa9636 people are realising that they have been tricked into buying uncomfortable expensive lingerie for "themselves" when lingerie has always been for men

I’m a 32A and I hate padded bras because they just make my breasts look like these fake plastic balls. I think everyone is just really over the padded push up phenomenon and VS never got the memo.
Exactly! How is half the bra going to be padding? I'm 32DD I don't want my boob's pushed out of the bra I want to stay in the bra lol. Maybe it could work if it was a sliver of padding to give you a little lift, but half the bra cup?? No.
The fashion show always felt like an awkward, stupid marketing gimmick anyway. It never made we want to buy overpriced lingerie; it just made me laugh to see some singer randomly plunked down in the middle of a runway while skinny women in underwear skirt around him/her and try not to hit anybody with their "wings."

tpamel but you’re right I hate how pink has their logo all over because I use to love their store! Wish they stopped plastering pink everywhere
A "Trashier" style is more appropriate term for them.

I did not buy it, but it had great, romantic classics. Today, with the Pink brand and the way the fashion show is going, it doesn't feel so nice. What if I just like watching fashion shows in general as a woman?

I used to work at VS and I can tell you that the fabric definitely got cheaper but the price stayed the same.
THISSSS!!!! Yes and we consumers noticed...so we started to shop elsewhere:-)

In my country they’re extremely expensive. 3 panties for $50. It’s insane.
I have 2 bikini tops of theirs
Yeah I miss their swimwear range. Though I purchased many pieces before the line was discontinued and they are all still in great condition despite all the beach trips.
Maybe if they lowered their prices they’ll make more profit. Who tf pays 80 dollars for 1 bra? Also there’s way more brands with better quality and with affordable price tags.
I certainly would not buy it.
I did but it was a good brand that makes quality pruducts, these ones will break in less than a year
For those of us who are bigger and bustier....

Rebel 06 Keywords are girls and women.
Definitely. When those girls joined the scene it took the mystique away & felt more juvenile. Along with their drop in quality.
It felt like I was watching a instagram modeling show. Not a professional gig.

Agreed.
The reason VS is failing is because their quality has reallly gone downhill in the last 6 years or so. Their bras and clothes used to be everything. I find myself shopping at Aerie more and more. The quality has gone way down, but they still charge the same high prices. Nobody is going for that.
I love Aerie!

Victoria's Secret is no longer a secret that's why it's dying.

Also the bras don't go past a DDD which means I can't even get one of they're bras if I wanted to
@Salazar Yeah, people want to feel that they are wearing something special; and VS's trashy looking, plasticy, made in china crap is NOT it.
@Salazar probably because comfortable underwear gets to be worn more often.
VS has fallen because:
1) quality needs to be better
2) need to carry larger sizes!!
3) definitely bring back swimwear and clothing
4) stop catering to a younger crowd, it's starting to feel a bit juvenile (I mean that's why you have the pink section)
5) maybe revamp the stores. are they feeling a bit out dated?
6) pick better models that are good brand reps. And they're getting too skinny. think: Tyra, Heidi, Giselle, Doutzen
7) have better shows: bring back the original runway mixes, maybe less music acts (there were 8 this year, but maybe it's to make up for less model-personalities they have now-a-days), stop recycling the same costume themes.
it's too damn expensive

@@harrisn3693 The VS "fashion show" is not a fashion show. It's a lingerie/vegas show lol. Chanel, Prada, Dior, now that's a fashion show.
Ok, and I thought that I was the only one that was losing interest in VS. Good to know that I'm not the only one.
Me too.
I walked by a VS store at the mall a while back and I didn't see a soul inside the place.
They don't carry my size. Nothing even close.
And to the 'slim but busty' line:
A B-cup is not 'busty'.
This. 15 years ago I used to shop there, IF I could find a D cup that wasn't white, nude, or black. Eventually I just gave up and went somewhere else instead of wasting a whole trip to the mall just to be told "sorry, but we do have it in nude!"

What happened to them?
@JOSE MATEO GÁLVEZ ARRASCUE I dont think she wears it. Just has it.
🙌🏻🙌🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Girl preach!!! 😩😩
Ramdom Guy my comment was about the unrealistic standard that women have to look similar to VS models. I never said that women shouldn’t be healthy.
Ramdom Guy also, you can look up VS angel workouts. They often work out for at least an hour twice a day. Also, if they only do it a week before a show it STILL promotes an unrealistic standard because they don’t even look like that all of the time yet other women are expected to.
Victoria’s Secret models should had changed to more realistic and more diverse , when the high fashion skinny models era died down in the late 00’s
They should have started the business and lowered the standard the next week?
Maybe open next door to a doughnut shop?
??? A lot of woman look like that though. I have cousin's that are sticks. They eat like starving children, but they are slim slim.
Panther God that’s cool. But there’s more than one type of women out there. It’s good for companies to offer representation to more than just one type of body size.

@@zulemapalito how else would you test them? On human?
Say it louder for the executives in the back
Earth to Tara true I only shop their sales once I bought them at that price

When the body by Victoria’s Secret bras came out my wife was so in love with it that she threw away all her other bras & bought almost a dozen of the new bras - she was afraid they might stop making them so she loaded up!
Your right, and I loved the original Body by Victoria. They were so soft snd sooo comfortable on the skin. Now they sell a knockoff version. Not the ssme!!
I just hate how expensive their bras are.
Will never understand why they stopped selling swim wear. Everyone had a Victoria’s Secret swim suit

Yeah, I had one. They were really nice quality. I used to like VS, there pink clothing is nice last time I checked but I don't want to spend $50 on comfy pants.
claire bigelow quirky 🤘😯🤘

Right?? They really should have built that out more rather than focusing on athleisure, which is an already a highly saturated market.

The company announced that it would bring back swimwear starting from spring 2019.”

JxxC19 I don’t care about transgendered women. They are MEN
i brought pjs from victoria's secret. I put it on and then 2 minutes later 3 buttons came off. The quality is disgusting compared with he price.
It's too bad that they can't get something simple, like a pyjama, done right. L Brands owned La Senza for many years, but axed pyjamas (which were of great quality) there completely. At the end of the day, quality triumphs over star power.
