hey everyone! I just wanted to apologize for my nasal and rough voice in some parts of this video. I've been struggling with my health for the past couple of months, but I really wanted to share this video with you. thank you for your understanding and support and I hope you still enjoy the video despite my voice not being at its best! xx Kasia
I've been waiting so long for another installation of this series only for youtube to recommend the one I've already watched and I find out this came out two months ago... I'll have to turn on notifications.
Thank you so much for another wonderful release ❤ I subscribed for your Mad Men analyses so I get really excited when another one pops up! Yours are hands down the best I've seen, you include a lot of detail & boy you notice so many things! When you first mentioned the characters blending into their backgrounds I nearly fell off my chair, that blew my mind! I'm so pleased I discovered you, because you've shown me how to watch to media differently (when it matters to me to pay that much attention lol). Thank you again, & I hope your health is on the mend ❤
hi! thank you so much for your kind words! I’m so glad you find these little details as fascinating as I do. it truly amazes me how much the clothes in Mad Men act like a Greek chorus subtly commenting on the characters’ emotions and foreshadowing shifts in the storyline. understanding those visual cues really does enrich the viewing experience.
When Jane got married to Roger, the clothes she started wearing were too mature and too big for her. She couldn't carry those clothes and hats, they were wearing her😂
Love your analysis! Never noticed the blue theme. So interesting and so true. There's so many blue costumes associated with bad news : Trudy, Betty, Joan, Sally. Even Peggy : after sleeping with Abe, she walks into the office wearing a blue and brown shirt. She says to Don : "everytime something good happens, something bad happens." The shirt echos the line. I rewatched last three episodes of the season 4 and also noticed the pink color associated with happiness and life : -docteur Edna is wearing it opposing Betty in a blue dots dress -Megan when she anounced the birth of Pete's daughter, when she sleeps with Don and when they announce their mariage ! -Joan when Roger walks into her office. She is pregnant and seems happy. Again in season 5, she wears a bright pink with black flowers when she walks into the office with her newborn. I think black or grey symbolise professional life. Joan after her promotion and Peggy after winning Topaz account are wearing black and grey. An other blue/pink opposition is Lane's girlfriend, the playboy girl. First she is wearing a blue costume and then a pink dress. The Betty/Bethany parallel is cruel and funny. Betty looks like an Ice Queen from the sixties. She rarely wears moderns cut or prints but here she is. Unlike Bethany who looks older or like an old version of Betty. Your video also made me think about Megan's blue dress in season 6 when she picks up Don from the airport. They are so glamorous but their mariage is sour and her career is slow. She wears this dress again whith heavy blue make up in her scene with Harry... Thank you so much for your video essay. I can watch this show again with a new perspective.
I went to your channel to check out your videos and only now realised i already watched so many of your mad men and satc videos. Never stop the fashion analysis its too good 🎀
@ I’m not totally sure but she works at a high end vintage shop in LA where costume designers like Janie Bryant buy costumes for shows and movies. My friend also has a very very similar dress to the black zou bisou bisou mini too!
@@madgirlyoutube I'll ask. The last I heard it was still available. She said it wasn't properly stored and has some minor damage, but it still looked to be in good condition and is legit!

The most fashionable show of all time
Particularly the final seasons. 1966-1969 were peak style.
It’s interesting how January Jones played Emma Frost in X-Men and she was considered an “ice queen” in Mad Men. Great video once again!
aside from Mad Men, I've only seen her in Love Actually 😂
there are a lot of youtube videos who've covered the costume design in Mad Men but I find that your ones are the best :D
thank you so much it means a lot to me
Yeah they are lovely
Absolutely! Very educational and interesting without being one but boring
I am living for this Mad Men content! One of the best shows of all time but there’s very little UA-cam content. Thanks for making this!
I'm so glad you're back! Fascinating analysis, full of great details and, as always, presented in an exceptionally engaging way ❤
awww thanks a lot

Great piece once again
So good!!
Hey I love your videos! I’d love to see your analysis of Ally Macbeal??
I haven’t watched this show for ages but it’s a great idea! thanks xx
Great video. Blue is my favorite color💙
My friend owns the original airport dress Megan wore and she's selling it! (at least at this moment, it's still for sale)
wow that’s incredible! that baby blue mini dress is such an iconic piece. may I ask how your friend acquired it?
@ I’m not totally sure but she works at a high end vintage shop in LA where costume designers like Janie Bryant buy costumes for shows and movies. My friend also has a very very similar dress to the black zou bisou bisou mini too!
Oh wow that dress is iconic! Is she still selling it?😍

Another great video :)
Betty is definitely inspired by Grace Kelly
That blonde girl is from pitch perfect 😂
I know Anna Camp mostly from True Blood. she's an amazing villain 😈
She was also one of the Hilly Holbrook’s minions from The Help which also takes place in the 1960s
oh true! and she wore Peggy's pink gingham dress from season 2
Remember when peggy made a sexual advance on don? Yikes.
Anytime I remember this scene I cringe.
She was a new girl so I don't blame her
she was young, naive, and made to believe that that was part of her job as a secretary
