This is my husband and I’s style! We have been gagging over this all grey and modern farmhouse movement, seeking a beautiful colonial to renovate. So happy to hear that warm tones and classic design is coming back!
As a lover of traditional design and architecture this is music to my ears 🥰I love Colonial for so many reason reasons but the symmetry aspect is on top of that list. Great video as always, thank you 😊
We built our French Colonial home a year ago and love it. We have rustic rough exterior brick with a massive stained front door with transom and sidelights. Brick is repeated around our fireplace. The interior has definite rooms but with large openings between them so it feels open but traditional. It makes me feel grounded to the past and happy with the present!
A video on sofas would be really nice I believe because alot of people are struggling with what sofas to choose for what kind of room and situation. I hope you can help us out. Thank you
I would DEFINITELY love to see a chair rail video. I had car rail in the first house we bought back in 1985 and loved it back then. I have really always loved chair rails but didn’t install it in subsequent houses I lived in because I was afraid it would make the dining room look too small. We now are retired in living in a house with a bigger dinning room so I would love to reconsider installing chair rail
Nina you made my day! I love love this look. I live in a center hall brick English Tudor (from 1932) with many original iron casement windows, gabled slate roofs, wood floors & a brick pathway to the front door. Obviously much had to be updated with electrical, plumbing, insulation, kitchen gut etc..its a work in progress but I'm loving the results & so nice to hear that its the "new" trend. It was always classic like a pearl necklace but now its tres chic with timeless appeal like the quiet luxury trend. Love it! Love ALL your videos, love your style & Id love to see videos on moldings & chair rail moldings etc.. Thanks for being so generous in all the tips & info you share.
I love it! Picture frame molding and shutters and brick YES! Skinny jeans are still in if you wear boots lol I never follow trends but I borrow elements of things. Love your vids!
Love molding, brick, etc. wish I had an appropriate wall for a landscape mural! Thanks for the preview. I just wallpapered my bathroom, added stone vanity top and brass hardware. So happy with it. Fresh elegance.
Nina Takesh- Thank you for this video. I had never heard of the "new Colonial". It is very interesting. Buy the way I love the "bubbly sofa" you were sitting on. I had never seen that style of sofa. I am very traditional and like items that are a mix of old and new. The "new Colonial" is a mix of the old and new. Beautiful.
I look forward to seeing where designers like you go with this. I had several antiques passed down from my grandmother and I have always had to find a way to intermingle these into my home. So looking forward to new and fresh ideas ❤
My ancestor's were Pilgrim's, most of us still live in New England, our homes are not to far from colonial decor we call it Traditional , with a hint of 1620, after-all we came from Great Britain, nothing garish, and " My dear what were you thinking" say's GrandMother Marion! I love the Ship Captain's look, what ever my GrandFather brought back from Asian countries, and Africa, you know what I mean, new but looks old, and a smattering of classic Antiques, that Gran, would never let go of! I'm not rich, but I know, what looks Rich, and most rich people have no taste, neither do their Decorators, but Damn My GrandMother knew!😊
My Colonial Revival 3/4 Cape Cod was built 3 years ago. I'm excited about New Colonial! The architecture is very plain, and have already begun with Colonial Revival pastels. I'm looking forward to what is to come! For me, practicality and comfort are the most important features of a home.
I just found your channel today! What a lovely video! I love it! I do love to mix traditional style, with some touches of whimsy and modern. I also love your advice on not chasing trends, but rather using smaller items that can be changed out easily when the time comes to love something different. I'm glad I am already following the 70/30 rule, as I've created a space I love using this percentage. Would love to see a chair rail and trim video! I look forward to all of your future videos for lots of inspiration! 🥰
Done With the all white/washed out interior design; I just couldn’t fully embrace…. I love British colonial so freshening up that design style makes me so happy I didn’t sell all my expensive mahogany furniture ❤🙏🏻
I came across an Instagram post by Frazier Home Design last month. It was a mix of modern colonial. I fell in love with it and I knew that would be my future home in a year. I am building that style.
Wainscot became popular for protecting walls from military men’s sabres . They wore their sabers when dressed in their impressive military uniforms while attending fancy galas. The swords were always scratching the expensive wallpaper. That’s one reason wainscot became popular.
I live in Texas so basically the homes here are coming back in style but need a little updating inside 😊. I love the 70/30 rule. I've always felt this way but just say my style is transitional.
Hi Nina, big fan of chair rails and moldings. I prefer Mediterranean and Modern Spanish, in my opinion nothing classier. I continue to watch your videos every week. I have learned quite a bit about design. Thank you for continuing to provide us with top of the line content.
Thank you Nina, such a great video. So Please this style is coming back. I think I speak for a lot of people when I say, this is my vibe! And any tips regarding molding would be appreciated xx
I love the Colonial style! My new old house may be trending! Lol. Yes my channel is called Our Prairie Farmhouse because it is a farmhouse on 20 acres in west Texas, but it’s not of the “farmhouse” trend. It’s more early American farmhouse with lots of colonial style. True farmhouse style has been around forever. It was when it started trending that it kind of took a weird turn. I hope the new colonial trend will stay classic and not go off the rails! 😂
Great outfit. Looks so good on your long lean body type. I'd love to know your diet and exercise routine, or are you just gifted ??? lol. I was never a fan of colonial decor, but loving the new modern colonial that you showed.
Thank you so much! I was always lucky enough to be skinny growing up naturally. It’s harder now so I do pilatese regularly and eat half of everything I used to if that makes sense. I never eat u til I am full. ❤️❤️
Please stop! Great sytle never goes out of style. Why are people slaves to what ever fever dream is created by "influencers." These examples look like salt-boxy barns, nothing to see here. Love your home as a reflection of your own good taste and style. I would never trade my authentic mid century modern for this look!
Good evening, I am searching for a color for my guest bedroom. I now have Aegean teal as a feature wall, and would like to paint the entire room a color reminiscent of the lake. We live in an area where we have forests and lakes. My sons bedroom is something like a forest green. I would like to create a tranquil environment for my guests. Any suggestions. I did notice Benjamin of the year blue nova.
Uh.. well… looks nice but not for me Nina..I’m not a traditional kind of person. I guess I’m out of touch but prefer my contemporary look ❤ Always love your channel!
Hi Laura, I’m not sure this is quite my taste either. However, it will be seen quite a bit of this. Hopefully there will be some interpretations of this that you would like ❤️
I’m watching this video right now, and I had to take a second and call out the lady for saying that following trends is not a good idea, while simultaneously sitting on a sofa that is so overly trendy it’s tacky.
This is very difficult style to do correctly, using classical principles of proportion and heirarchy. I typically see this in the moldings not designed correctly and columns not following classical design. Typical builders will not be able to build these homes without classically trained architects.
Think I'll skip the colonial trend. Cant see it staying long. I dont have a farm house but to me that style of architecture seems classic. Many grandparents and great grandparents had the board and batten large front porch houses.
Money to burn feeding designers throwaway annual obsession.Just have the style you like that makes you happy and dont be influenced by "influencers".No offence meant just sick of people on net advising of next big thing 🤭
I think it can be stunning, but requires quite a bit of money and sophisticated design. I had a colonial revival home at one time. The thing I did not like so much was the central hallway with stairs, that went straight back to a back door. Not good Feng shui, as your money comes in and goes out,
Not seeing it. Absolutely nothing practical. What shows and described is the home we have purchased in 2022 (custom built 2001) we are scraping it of it add functionality. Because the home is in the South we invested in the full brick built, but HAD to get rid of the greenery touching the house to avoid insects. What shown are the elements of half rehab I incorporated in my old home in Chicago back in 2015. Can’t say I am loving any of the “new colonial”
Skinny jeans reign! Those wider leg pants will be out in a heartbeat. Why? Because they do zero to flatter the figure. It's all about HOW you wear skinny jeans. Update the look. Don't throw the baby out with the bath water. You are no expert, regardless of your Miss know-it-all attitude.
This “trend” appeals to a very small base. Manufacturers and retail customers have been parked in Farmhouse/Modern Farmhouse for far too long. It was about time something new and fresh “took over” house builds & decorating trends. One can only buy so many what I call “Farmhouse Hobby Lobby Inspirational Signs”; for example: Live Laugh Love or Love Lives Here. Blech. I just completed my families custom home and went with a classic European style exterior and Comfortable Organic on the inside. I look at other new builds near by and most are Modern Farmhouse style and already trending out and looking overdone and tired. Having said all this - it is your home, which is the most expensive, largest undertaking of one’s life. So if you like farmhouse - then go for it. I tell friends and clients- don’t follow trends, follow your heart… and you will always be happy.
I think a video on moldings, chair rails, and picture framing would be great. Really, getting this right is important.
Great idea thank you for sharing
@@NinaTakeshI’m desperate for this video, please share it soon. I’m going to do my house in a couple of weeks. 💕❤️
I agree with you, I would love to see the various methods to applying molding in different design styles in variety of size rooms.
YESSS!! Please please please a video on chair rails, moldings etc. Would be highly appreciated 🤩

I love a classic Edwardian timeless kitchen! The wallpaper in that study is so elegant. Thank you Nina, and you look stunning as always.
Thank you Samantha you are the sweetest

Great idea I will certainly do that. Thank you for watching.
This is our current struggle which led me to this video.

Great news! Id like to see a part 2 about kitchens, colors & decor styling. Thank you!
This is great news! I’ve been seeing huge orders coming in at my place of work for decorative moldings especially for the Orac Decor line. Love it
I just love it, going back but with a modern look, love it!!

It's time to pony up $ for the stolen land and identities.
CUT THE CHECKS.

I had chair rail moulding, wall paper, crown in the 90s when we built our first house. Its back!
Yes on moldings and all the rest...💚
Yes please! I was just thinking to add chair rails and would love to do it properly!

Finally. Love the Modern Mix Classy Classic!

Beautiful! Can you please do a kitchen design video? For traditional/classic newly built.
This was so interesting Nina - thank you as always for this content. I look forward to every episode. Have a good week❤️❤️.
Thank you! You too!
Umm not really seeing anything new here if I’m honest🤔. I’m British our homes are all built by bricks it’s not a trend.
I’m in New Zealand. It’s the same. I do feel for all the homeowners who painted their brick white and now regret it.
@@marysuecritchlow819haha..I’ve been saying the same. We’ve hit Peak White brick at least in my area of the southern US.
100% video on moldings and chair rails! Love your video!

Stunning as always and wonderful videos 🩷 Nina please show us your closet 💫💫💫💫💫💫💫💋
Please do a chair rail, wainscoting , etc height. Your technical specifics are so important to prevent costly mistakes
Need a chair rail video asap please!
I love Paneling!!!!
Thank you Nina, such a great video. So Please this style is coming back. I think I speak for a lot of people when I say, this is my vibe! And any tips regarding molding would be appreciated xx
I saw the “Girl in Chair” series exhibit at the old Ace Gallery in Beverly Hills. Great artwork.😁
Yes, please regarding the chair rail height.

I love that. How incredible is that?
Interested in chair moldings and 2/3 high paneling with molding. Building a timber frame/craftsman in the woods.
Hi @ninatakesh in your paint video do you have Simply White or Super White by Benjamin Moore in your home??
This is a very east coast DC, VA, MD look.
Colonial. my favorite home.
Love Colonial! and also still love my skinny jeans :).
Love that!
😍 fabuloso !..
Loved this video ❤
Great outfit. Looks so good on your long lean body type. I'd love to know your diet and exercise routine, or are you just gifted ??? lol. I was never a fan of colonial decor, but loving the new modern colonial that you showed.

Sorry my house is in southern ca Santa Barbara/spanish style so I can’t use these ideas?
I won’t be doing this style in Arizona 😊🤣😊

Just came across this video now, we are currently designing a colonial home here in Manila… i shall be following your videos…

Can you do a decorating video of Christmas
HAPPY I NEVER felt compelled to chase TRENDS, I like the CLASSICS in most things. ADD a little WHIMSY in art, fabric, & accessories.
Brick is beautiful but out here in earth quake country, brick houses can be death traps.
Please more photos of what ur talking about
Uh.. well… looks nice but not for me Nina..I’m not a traditional kind of person. I guess I’m out of touch but prefer my contemporary look ❤ Always love your channel!

Here in Miami, new colonial is out of the question.
You can’t just change the exterior of your home. And I still rock my skinny jeans.
I have seen so many chair rails at wrong height and crown moulding at the wrong scale. Please take the "Red Elevator" to the moulding floor.
What about the sofa your on right now that’s not modern?
@ninatakesh you didn't show your dream house wit brick ..it cuts to the next house
Looks like a lot of the houses in the East Coast 🤷🏻♀️
Think I'll skip the colonial trend. Cant see it staying long. I dont have a farm house but to me that style of architecture seems classic. Many grandparents and great grandparents had the board and batten large front porch houses.

That sofa is way out!
Organic modern all the way! Colonial is boring, new or not.
The Buddha in the background adds nothing to your class. In fact it is repulsive.
I think it can be stunning, but requires quite a bit of money and sophisticated design. I had a colonial revival home at one time. The thing I did not like so much was the central hallway with stairs, that went straight back to a back door. Not good Feng shui, as your money comes in and goes out,

Too much details and wallpapers and chair rails - Feels too overwhelming and competing for it’s own attention
Is that a dead body hanging behind her??😮😮
to be honest this is a very confusing new style
Ivy growing on a home is not good for the house.
Colonial colonial colonial …….. wallpaper wallpaper wallpaper ………. Yuck 🤢
Maybe 10% will go for this trend (seniors).
I’m no just no
Get over yourself. I want a video that shows design not some woman talking and flipping her hair
The 🍽️ ngroim is awful
'...you're gonna die...' What poor taste in wording.
absolutely YUCK!
You hair is too thin to be so long.
More like the "Plantation" version of colonial.
