    Hey everyone! I'm the one who coined mirror drifting, and I've got a couple small clarifications that may hopefully help!
    1. So first thing is mirror drifting is not just when you drift stall from one surface to another, its when you're drifting on the ceiling one direction, and you jump or fall off a ledge facing the opposing drift direction on the floor and continue the drift. Hence the name, mirror drift. Your drift is flipped without needing any new drift input.
    2. You can't really mirror drift from floor to ceiling as the car isn't making a rotation upward until you manually flip. the car stays drifting the same direction as when you were on the floor. So personally, I'd just call that a drift stall still.
    3. Also a neat tidbit is you can do a mirror drift from ceiling to ceiling by flipping upward instead of downward after jumping which i don't think was demonstrated in the vid. If you do it too early your nose will slam into the ceiling and you will die, so give it a little delay. This is very useful for hitting the double boost pads on AA2 while maintaining a drift, as there are hazard blocks in-between them.
    4. Lastly, when on the ceiling before initiating a mirror drift, if your car drifts beyond 90 degrees and you flip downward you wont face the same direction as mentioned in the vid, you will do what i call a mirror drift flip. The car will spin all the way back around and you will do crazy looking 360 flip thing and you end in the opposite direction like a regular mirror drift. I find this is very useful for areas with a larger gap between the ceiling and floor. Again, aa2 comes to mind as the first ceiling section has boosts on the lower rocks and regular mirror drifting is much slower. Mirror drift flipping is much faster there as it minimizes your airtime and you still get the extra boost pad. Oh, and remember you can still steer while mirror drifting in the air even though you wont really see an animation for it.
    Alright that's it lol sorry i tried to keep it as concise as i could. I love the video btw great stuff!

    Very informative, especially the mirror drift because that’s something I have not been doing. I’m also realizing more and more the importance of separating the Aerial Dodge / Drift button.
    I’m Diamond II @94% so I’m going to have to really start relearning the separate button as I have not done this yet.

    Drift stalling will be much easier with drifting and air rolling mapped to different buttons, I can’t believe I didn’t think of that😂

    Good tutorial. Can you make a video on how to handle multiple curves? Like on Anaconda

    • @zick5078
      @zick5078  5 місяців тому

      The drift chaining mechanic is what allows you to take the corners on anaconda the best. Practice the mechanic on that map and overtime you will get more used to it and be able to get faster times

    • @SkyMonkey42
      @SkyMonkey42 5 місяців тому

      @CaptainFilthy you have to really practice the map over and over. I spent a whole day on it until I was able to do it without sliding off the road. To shorten your times even further you then have to exit the drift a tiny bit earlier and cut corners closer towards the white line and dirt. I went from a 2.00.37 to my current best time of 1.51.62.
      If you manage to stay on the road consistently you should easily land times around 2.00-2.01.
      Just really practice it. You’ll get the hang of it.

    Very nice tutorial, could probably be slightly shorter in length (consider writing a script, it helps a lot) since half an hour is a little bit long. Overall though, well done, definitely keep at it if you enjoy making content :)
