That's 100% correct. I deliberately didn't advance the position bc I thought it qualified as a takedown, but there was a miscommunication between Sean (the contestant) and I so we kept going for a little longer. It was actually Sean who was so freakishly strong he lifted me off the ground by my neck and rotated my body to the guillotine side lol he definitely gave me a run for my money. I got pretty good because I became obsessed, ended up winning some barracks wrestling titles in the navy against actual wrestlers a few years later. Wrestling the lighter guys is where its at, I got some sneaky shit but would absolutely still get owned. I fell in love with the sport way too late. @ 2:38 when you had the bear hug. Rather than using your right foot. Use your left foot to chop in behind the knee while simultaneously pulling the upper body in the opposite direction. The chopiing behind the knee, i learned it in my Karate class. When I became a Judo stylist, I would use the same technique to the back of the knee. I have also trained in Catch Wrestling. During a sparring session, i ended up in the same position you did. I applied the technique. Remember, im sure you know this since you wrestle. It doesn't require brut strength as it's more technique to make the move work.

Just subscribed. Fun video. I'm age 21 and did gymnastics almost 14 years. When I was age 15 going on age 16 I was severely beat up by 3 older athletes from my school. I'm from Ukraine and adopted and brought to rural USA. I was put in gymnastics by age 4 (as part of national gymnastics program). Guys at school were not into immigrants and definitely didn't like male gymnasts and falsely assumed my sex orientation (implied by their language). They found me alone on a summer night at my school doing a bar workout by sports fields. They said they wanted to have some fun punching the fuck out of my "gymnast abs." They put me in a full nelson and took turns throwing hard punches. It turned out that over 10 years of training my abs hard for gymnastics also made them able to take a lot of hard punches. I lasted on and off over 30 minutes. I felt small held in a full nelson as big muscular taller athletes beat me up. Within a week I walked into our summer school weight room--my first time in there. I met some wrestlers. They saw how badly I was beat up and got angry. I told them I would love to learn to lift weights for gain a lot more muscle mass--legs in particular. They told me how much they admired gymnasts and the hard work we put in. I grew over the last 2 years of high school and fell in love with heavy weights and legs days in particular. I got deeper into training my abs to take hard punches because of some wrestlers who were into that. They also got me to learn some wrestling and liked using me to practice with. My goal was to see how long I could last before I got pinned. I got better and a coach kept wanting me to join the team and get trained well. But unfortunately I was still busy with gymnastics and weigh training and into severe abdominals training (SAT plan we developed). I learned a few months ago that my real age is 21 and not 22 as I was told. The US naturalization found the mistake. I'm lucky my first US election I was of legal age to vote! That info has been corrected. I now work in construction (for almost 2 years) and their lawyer was a big help with me fixing all my birth date issues including SS. But it makes me revisit all that happened to me as a kid a year younger than I thought. I was always the smallest kid in my grade even if one of the most muscular kids. I started gymnastics so very young that I don't know if I would have loved wrestling too if I started young. I have huge respect and gratitude to the wrestlers who took me in so to speak after guys punched the fuck out of my abs so long and hard. They became my first non-gymnast friends I ever had. Gymnast friends lived about 2 hours away and saw them only there at the academy. So having these wrestlers as friends was huge. Over night my life in high school got so much better. But having a reputation of being able to take hard punches caused me to perform a lot. I got down to maybe 5-6% body fat as guys seemed to really like punching abs with no body fat. I made many mistakes and a few wrestlers saved me a few times when I was getting in over my head showing off. Both gymnastics and wrestling are sports where we compete individually but have a team to cheer us on. At school I felt I had wrestlers to cheer me on. I'm writing too much but love your video here and what you do. Thanks.

dang how do you do that with strangers who don't have much wrestling experience and don't know how to fall properly and don't know when they're in danger without putting them at risk of bending their knee the wrong way when they fall over? You'd need to feel like you're a lot more skillful than them in order to be in enough control that you can hold back and look after their safety, otherwise they might want to sue you if they get injured. quite scary stuff.

Nearly 3 decades of high level wrestling experience? How old is this guy and what is his definition of high-level experience? Not questioning his skill but the math aint mathin . To me high level would be college/national wresting and I'm confused how a man that appears to be about 30 years old max can claim that

I get that a lot so I'll clear this up:
I started wrestling at the age of 3, I am currently 33 yrs/old.
Have won a total of 8 state championships in all 3 major styles of wrestling; folkstyle, freestyle, and greco-roman.
Have won or placed runner-up at multiple national tournaments. Former D1 collegiate wrestler for CMU. Former Junior Olympic Champion. You can get a full list of accolades in the bio section of this channel.
I grew up in the Midwest within the US in a dominant wrestling culture. I was surrounded by high level collegiate coaches from a very young age.
It seems I look young on video so many people don't believe my experience, which I understand. Hope this helps to clear things up.

Why I don't talk s#$t out in public I just suffered 2 serizures and almost bit my tongue off falling into the bathtub after taking a piss. thankfully my mom heard it and came in and called 911. My poor sister had to clean up all my blood. The nurses weren't happy when I came to and pulled out my respirator and feeding tube. Than I fell down my garage stairs later twice busting up my ribs and eye and head. We live in the Midwest and my sisters went to the University of Iowa which supposedly has a pretty good wrestling program and her roommate was dating a wrestler and I would always try to wrestle him but he took it easy on me cause he would have destroyed me lol. Why I don't fight anymore though I'm worried about getting hit in the head and having seziures.

Hi Coach! There’s another guy who does something similar to this. I’d love to see you two have a friendly match and have you two breakdown your guys video. Here’s his link. youtube.com/@thekidgeorgio?si=RPJa559nSOcvb7va
I’ve seen both of your guys stand up game and it’s really good. I do Jiu Jitsu but my wrestling sucks lol. Hopefully I get the chance to train with you one day.

Georgio is a tough dude, would be a fun match. If I ever make it back out to LA I'll see if I can make it happen 👊
