165 lbs for men, thats some serious strict curl strength for those who have never tried it.
I've trained for years and I don't even know if I could get the 115, so kudos to these people lol.
NGL I've hit 165lbs strict before. Bodyweight 180. People really sleep on calisthenics athletes. It's all thanks to my 80kg weighted chin up.
@@chansesarmstrong4092 that's like almost 4 plates on weighted chinup sheesh
love u greg
Haha coach Greg in the chats
a lot of people knew their own strength here, respect for being able to walk away and not ego lift more than they can handle
!LEMONADE!
Nah it’s the complete opposite. I have 0 respect for people not to try. Who cares if you fail. Idk if you’re just a newborn warrior or workout. Do you know how many times the strongest people fail before they succeed? You don’t see that on camera
@@Ghostlver5 I mean, they were wagering money, so I understand their hesitance.

Will is such a nice bloke. He has been more than fair and giving out money to people we didn't make it.
I did a 165 strict curl for reps before. Coach Greg’s pre-workout really did help a lot. I also took some speed, meth, coke and some bath salts… and bit of Tren. But I am pretty sure it was the pre-workout that helped though.
took prework out with speed & coke On my way! to the gym & I managed to squat 565lbs but I’m pretty sure I was high

Tried at home. Managed 115 lbs but there's no way I can do 165 at the present.
Lol that’s normal most people can’t. It’s a 45% increase. That’s like deadlifting 400 lbs then going to 575. Will just did to try and save money to eliminate people
my peak was 110lbs for 1 rep while being 165lbs myself. i mesn curling 165 is serious. thats something you have to train for 😅 my every given day, right out of the bed curlweight is 100lbs atm after not doing anything for 2 years.

"I'm not sexist, I'm realistic"...thank you! Someone that doesn't need to explain this for 3 minutes before a video starts as to why they're differentiating men and women.
He still underestimated a by bit I think he added 10lbs to the girls side it would have been more fair

The fact that he even needs to say this shows that there are way too many butt hurt simps and feminists in the world.
@Dieter Hellstrom biology is not sexism. The average women cannot lift as much as the average male. Sure a women can lift more if she works out a lot but the average male is 100% stronger than the average women

Beautiful video!! ❤❤ always love seeing your videos
I'm subbing because I love your energy plus the concept is neat
When I saw this I had to try it. 115 to 165 is an enormous increase in the degree of difficulty. 115 basically was no problem but 165 was way too heavy and I could barely budge it. I'd like to think I would have had enough sense to tap out at $70 if I was actually there
Guys who cashed out at 70 are smart guys who tried 165 and lost cuz they got to greedy it’s like black jack
I would not have had the sense.
Yeah it’s like 40 % more weight , you’d need to be able to rep the 115 in the 12 ish range for a 165 ish 1RM
I can rep 130 for 8 but can barely get 165..
The WR was 251lbs, so 165lbs is a huge weight. It's relatively similar to how the WR for deadlift is 1105lbs but most normal people won't be able to deadlift 405lbs. People underestimate how heavy 165lbs in a curl is. 82.5lbs per arm, to be able to do this strict, you need to be able to curl 100lbs per hand normal.
If all fitness coaches took this fun approach, I think we'd see a huge move forward in being healthy. Well done!
If they paid people for curls? lmao they'd go broke
doesn’t have to be money could be leaderboard
I'm following in those same footsteps. Good to know people appreciate content creators that make fitness fun.
@@alexander53 yo this Mf wants others people to convince him and other POS’s to take care of themselves!! 🤣🤣🤣
That's one of the few statements that I actually agree with 💯
The most I ever strict curled was 150lbs I was 20 years old now I’m 47 in January and I just did 135lbs a few months ago so I still have some strength great job to all of those that participated you guys are bad ass!
I have seen so many heavy lifters fail miserably at the strict curl. It's one of those things that looks a lot easier than it is.
@@johndeeregreen4592 yeah it’s definitely one of the hardest lifts aswell as the strict overhead press! I hit a PR of 215 on my strict press. I remember at golds gym they had this weird metal arm thing that would stop your arms from going backwards we used that many times when doing heavy strict curls be were young 17-18 year olds back in 1994 Al trying to get those 18inch guns lol I at a solid 17 3/4 for a while them at 18 years old I hit the 18inch mark and fealt bad ass lol
Sure you did
@@RandomHerps sad that you can’t even curl the woman’s bar yet? Maybe when your balls drop out your stomach you’ll be able to lift it! 😂 NO BALLS!!!!! NO SAC!!
@@svtkilr
Yeah, when I was a teen at the local Ymca in 99-2000 there was some old equipment still there, one was the metal plate with adjustable rope/strap connected you hung around your neck, the metal plate went across your upper abs and out to keep elbows from moving back. I never pushed my biceps as much as back, chest and triceps but I recall I could rep 110lb straight barbell or get 5-6 reps at 60lb dumbbells. My best bench was 245x10.
I've noticed, Will's videos are more interesting than I even anticipated they would be!

Mario needs to come back for a video, so chill and great vibes will Will, good chemistry
165LB is a bit of a large jump from 115Lb. That's a 43% jump in weight. 135Lb would have been much more reasonable and still a very hard challenge. Most reasonably in shape men can do 115Lb but 165 would take very specific training for this lift. That or out weighing the weight by at least double.
That is nothing but #facts
maybe it was intentional
@@trythis2006 like a carnival trick
most men that lift can do 115 but definitely not most men 115 is difficult
45 should be easy for most men. 75 is going to be tough for anyone older or who doesn't train. 115 is going to be for those who really lift on a regular basis and it's going to be a struggle for most. 165? You're getting into world-class lifting at that point.

I have been training for 14 years and can barely curl 63-65kg @90kg bw on a good day and I always considered my biceps one of my strongest muscles, so 75kg is really impressive to achieve in my eyes
It is absolutely crazy. 165lbs is something for specifically trained strict curl athletes or you weigh in at least 100lbs more than what you trying to curl.
@bastiat That is actuall insane.
But between a 110 and a 165lbs strict curl..... is a whole universe.

As many here have said, the leap up to 165 was too great.
Unless you're very big, that amount of weight will take many dedicated months, maybe even years to reach.
Better that it have been smaller; say, 130. With 150 or 165 worth a bigger prize.

I curled 55.5 kg when I tried maxing out on the strict curl maybe a year ago. 75 kg (165 lbs) is crazy weight... I think I'm good for 60 kilograms now, but 75 is still a far cry for me. I'm already well impressed with everyone who curled the 52 kg bar (115 lbs). That IS HEAVY!
For reference, back when I hit my strict curl PR, my deadlift was at or around 210 kg and bench 140 kg. It took me about about 5 years of solid training to reach that point.
Same here, 4-5 years training, 140kg bench. Max Curl was 60kg but 75 kg will never be possible for me.
Same here! 60kg max but it wasnt as strict as needed.. 75kg is for a way bigger guys :)

That 50 pound jump seems brutal I know i can strict curl a plate for 10 on the easy bar strict not sure about 165 . Edit tried it could barely get 155 165 was not happening.
Maybe try doing 5x5 at 135 for a month? That might break you through to get 165. 💪💪
I don't know how he says it is crazy people do the 115 easy and then don't get anywhere with the 165... 115 to 165 is almost a 45% increase. You would have to be able to do roughly 12 reps with 115 to make 165. If you can do 5, you will make 1 rep look fairly easy. The weight jump is like benching 225 and then jumping to 320.
