Love this song. Especially the sax solo. In 1972 Gerry Rafferty was in the Scottish folk rock band Stealers Wheel & had a big hit with "Stuck In The Middle With You". Later on, he went out on his own & then had the big hits "Baker's Street", "Right Down The Line" & "Night Owl".
I'd been with my girlfriend about a month, we went to London. We turned onto Baker Street and she started singing the song... but we got stuck in a traffic jam ... so she ran out of lyrics she knew and started improvising. The lyrics got more and more surreal and dark as this brand new 12" remix grew bigger and bigger...stranger and stranger... sillier and silleir. We're still together 6 years later and getting married next year. Baker Street is a place in my heart now.
Lady, I watched you earlier near the end i looked at the name. " Comfort Forster " so I ended up watching a catalog of Bill Burr and first black cookout. 😁
Yes its used in the fictional Sherlock Holms stories but real, Very strange was the first time I heard this song, I was driving out of London after a night delivery at Smithfield ,It was about 4 am and Baker Street came on as I was driving up Baker Street ,
1st heard Gerry Rafferty singing with Billy Connelly in the sixties singing folk.
Lovely reaction as usual .every body had a copy of this back in the day . Timeless .
Oh really! It’s indeed a lovely piece
Pure nostalgia - getting ready for primary school and listening to BBC Radio 1 breakfast show
I can imagine

Gerry passed away from being an alcoholic I believe. Great vocalist and frontman, R.I.P.
