- The Fate of the Furious is a movie that happened. None of us can deny that. And we have long recognized that we are on the minority side of disliking these movies. Doesn't mean we aren't going to list all the sins anyway.

Remember that this franchise started as a movie about a young cop who infiltrates a gang that is using their driving skills to hijack trucks. While undercover, the cop becomes sympathetic towards the gang and falls in love with the gang leader's sister. It ends with the cop disobeying orders by allowing the gang leader to escape, choosing friendship over duty.
Seven movies later, it's now about a spec ops team comprised of (former) criminals who continuously save the world by driving real fast in cars.

yeah the plot hasn't really changed at all, in fact the only one that's different honestly, is tokyo drift since it is mostly about racing and a minor turf war between two members of the yakuza, but in THAT movie the criminal underworld takes a back seat to drifting, the rest of the movies are just mission xxx possible john reacher with fast driving, they where NEVER about the racing, the racing was the hook to get a bunch of motor heads and racing fans into a decent, albeit really exaggerated, but good crime drama turned spy thriller, so yeah, good series, stayed true to itself all the way through, also, i think dom does say you never turn your back on family in either first or fourth movie, i can't remember specifically

So when me, my dad, and uncle went to see this in theaters, when Cipher hands Dom the phone showing Elana captured, we all thought Cipher kidnapped Mia, Brian and the kids and were holding the hostage, and figured that be a neat way to end Brian's story, him going out defending Mia and his son, needless to say we were disappointed with what ended up happening
So it wasn't just me who thought that of course it was Mia who had been kidnapped as it was the only person Dom would care enough about to betray his entire team. Because all he cares about is family but instead its Elena. And yeah having Brian die saving the kids would have been an insanely epic way to end his story.
It also would have given Mia something to do because her not being in the movie where her brother apparently turns evil betrays everyone and becomes the number one most wanted in europe is just dumb and her being the hostage would have been a way cooler story.
Don't forget his daughter Mia was pregnant in the 7th movie
You know, I would die of laughter if the sin counter is still broken by the next episode.

Every time I actually look to it, it's either Charlize looking blandly at her fucking screens, Vin Diesel doing his coke product placement, his dick measuring contest with this other dude, the Rock doing girl soccer training, people shooting, cars flipping or just Melissande (or whatever's her GoT name) looking bored af.
I only semi-pay attention to it when it shows the Havana scenes because they got some pretty decent hotties in them.

Oh and by the way you're ironically right: they _do_ show Ghost in the Shell every once in a while, too. Actually, I was kind of surprised to see they didn't censor the Johannsen naked boobs scene, though that wouldn't have flown in China but you never know apparently.
At first I was gonna say Akira, then Metropolis, THEN I went with Ghost in the Shell. And I meant the original animated film. I have the live-action one on bluray but I haven't seen it yet.

Given how this series has been going for the past few years, I’m surprised at the director having enough restraint to not make it so that the end of this movie was that the missile launched and Dom had to crash into it with his car from a ramp, leading to the missile going back down into the submarine and destroying it.

You want the truth I hated those. It may be bad and I think 5-8 absolutely deserves to be sinned but from 5-8 I had a great time watching. I was bored by the first 4 or however many. It is everyone's opinions but I do also think people overrate those also. It sounds crazy but it is a smart business decision their is no way it would be on its 8th movie if it was just racing still. That is a pretty dead genre now a days. Since the furious franchise started becoming too cartoony and cheesy people started acting like the first few were oscar worthy movies. I think the whole franchise is cheesy and bad but I think the last 2 or 3 kept me entertained. Again to each their own though.

The only "Fast" movie I've watched in real life is Tokyo Drift. Every other time I've known anything about the plot has come from all the CinemaSins "Fast and Furious" videos. I feel like I just completed a series by watching this. I don't know how to feel.
There are so many movies that I know the entire plot just by watching cinemasins. It has saved me a lot of time not having to watch the entirety of bad or boring movies

Watching a "Fast" movie for the plot, well there's your first mistake. I watch them to see cars do awesome and often totally impossible stunts! Much like the HotWheels movies now that I think about it.
The only other Fast movie I'd recommend is the 5th one, arguably the best one.

As hilarious as this is, you missed one major continuity sin between the 73rd and 74th sin:
Dom and Elena were together up until they broke up at the conclusion of F&F6, yet their baby is depicted to be no more than several months to a year old, tops. Remember in F7, Brian and Mia's kid was just entering pre-school, which would suggest that YEARS have passed since Elena and Dom have even seen one another, much less slept with each other, and yet when they reunite on Cipher's plane, Elena says to Dom, and I quote--
*"When I realized I was pregnant, you had just found out Letty was alive."*
So in my estimation, this suggests one of three things:
1) Dom would've had to have cheated on amnesiac Letty with Elena at some point, during which was the time he REALLY knocked her up
2) Elena's reproductive system has somehow evolved to be able to carry that baby for several years without killing her ass, or more logically...
3) IT'S NOT DOM'S BABY!
