You do a really good job handling your birds. From your breeding to how you handle the young in or out of the coop really surprises me. How many of the young are you planning to putting into young the bird races? That’s if the races arnt canceled.

Thanks! I try to spend a lot of time with them and get them as used to me as possible. If the racing season goes as planned, i will be putting every bird i have into the races.

I know you've been asked this question a million times, but when do you know when its time to wean? When they are fully feathered? when they're kicked out of the nest by the parents? or ???

Normally wean your youngsters when they're starting to eat and drink for themselves...I fed mine from a pot while still in nestbox

First and second round i always wean when they are 25 days old and by then they are fully feathered under the wing. 3rd round i wait a little bit longer so that they can learn to eat better on their own because by then theres a lot of young birds in the loft and the competition for food is high.

Once they start ranging for a week or so start training them then you will see what quality of bird you have

Looking back, I think you said the parents of the "first" tortoise shell are the blue check male and the red female. Anyway, I think the other is also going to be a tortoise shell. Time will tell. Thanks for another good video. I always look forward to your videos!
