Elite Dangerous Odyssey: How to obtain a Power Regulator legally (Sort of)

  • The Power Regulator is required to upgrade your suit and to power up inactive settlements. There are a few ways to get one but this is the fastest repeatable way without needing to take a mission.
    Simply go to any Odyssey settlement that's the industrial/manufactoring type and follow these instructions.
    You can repeat this as many times as you like. The whole thing takes around 6:30 in total.

    Thanks. Great content.
    Just starting today on the journey to upgrade suits n weapons. Have all G3 out of the pioneer shopping and I wanted something nuanced to do. Stealth style looks fun and challenging. I get it.
    BurrPit vid led me here and between the two of you I'm all ready to start. Elite Explorer with no experience of this so I'm excited to start. In vids it reminds me a bit of Metal Gear Solid.

    Great Vid and clear guide. Thanks.
    I tried this yesterday but forgot I can disable the alarms and my attempt ended with a plasma shot to the face.

    I got one. The alarm shutoff was in the same room as the power core, so that was nice. I had to kill the NPC in the power room though. I was crouched, it was dark, but the rooms small enough that the NPC was able to see me.
    Fire Fade > Fire Fade 2 > Aravens's Lodge. There's a pilot in one of the Habs that's a level 3 clearance.
    I'm only 1 for 4 success rate. I suck 😄

    Great ! Thx. But NPC have been nerfed and react way more quickly and agressive now. Those PWR regs are so much required and it's really a hassle to get them. My inventory is quite full and i've got only 4 of them ! You're very efficient on a stealth way, but the tremendous variety of settlment layouts and the fact that you're immediatly spotted when entering in restricted area result in a bunch of fails (i assume that i'm not a "Stealthboy" !)🙃

    So, "legally (sort of)" in this case means a Covert Heist with a minimum of 4 crimes (credential fraud, trespassing x3, unauthorized controls change x2, theft of power regulator). And no, you did not take it "without breaking the law", the game literally told you you had Stolen Items.

      The "sort of" acknowledges that you need to do criminal acts. But it also means you can do it without getting caught and fined.
      I offered this guide as a means to get a power regulator without needing to abandon missions (a cheese way that results in a 100k fine) and without fighting any npcs (also guaranteed to trigger not just a fine but a criminal bounty).
      Unless you just do this in an anarchy settlement. In that case, nothing is a crime (even murder) :)
      What anyone chooses to do with the information I provide is up to them. Just trying to share tools that can be used.

    I find it easier to find abandoned settlement and then take it out from abandoned SRV.

    Having trouble finding a settlement that looks anything like this on EDDB. I get the process would be the same, but this layout looks perfect, not sure it exists anymore. Odd.

    • @StealthBoyElite
      @StealthBoyElite  3 роки тому +1

      It definitely does (not sure it's possible to find much on eddb yet?)
      I just did a scav hunt mission at one. Admit, it's not easy to find one specific variant of settlement though!

      I found it because I had a video from the first couple days of Odyssey - I was trying to find one the same as Huntley in alpha. This is the same layout.

      @@StealthBoyElite thanks. I've just found a nice little farm for all the other resources. Head to a Mining Prospect that needs powering up, don't land near the main base. There are two buildings set away with the mining machinery, loads of cabinets including one large and a broken SRV to loot. Only 2 Npc to kill.

    does the AI aggro you as soon as you pick up the power regulator, no matter whether you've been spotted or not?

    • @StealthBoyElite
      @StealthBoyElite  3 роки тому

      The one in that room does yes, but it doesn't matter if they see you so long as you get out quickly. I've never got a fine for this. Alternatively, you can do this in an anarchy settlement and just kill them with no penalty :)

    • @sbirchsbirch6232

      I just tried. Since the alarm does not go off, the whole settlement won't be on red alert within seconds, so as long as you get out, the rest of them won't shoot on sight, nor will the sentry guns. This was in an Engineering settlement, btw
