I dont have seals fur, but have black wool. Could it work as body dubbing??

      Hi Ville Hirvonen,
Black wool would be fine, it's not as translucent as the seals fur but it will still work..

Although it's late in the year now I'll be tying a few of these and the black hackled ones for next season, it keeps me out of trouble over the winter!

    Hi Davie,
I'm going to be tying a few wet flies. Zulu, Kate Maclaren and Bibio - which tinsel would you suggest that could be used on all 3? I'm not quite sure what 'size' tinsel would be best. I'd be tying 10's to 14's
Thanks a lot and keep up the great work!
    Steve

      Hi Stephen,,
If it's a flat tinsel then I would buy Lagartun Tinsel www.lathkill.com/shop/index.php?categoryID=359 but you can also use an oval tinsel from Veniards No.14 or a small from Uni..These would be ideal for the sizes you want to tye....

Very similar to the kate mclaren. Are both flies considered "loch style" flies? Beautiful as always, nonetheless. Keep em coming davie.

      Hi Scott,
The Kate McLaren is tyed very similar like you said to the Blue Zulu and these both are very popular loch style flies that catch many fish here in the UK and Ireland and I'm sure in many other countries as well..

Thank you for another great video...........!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was wondering if you wrap your own rods as well.......?????? The first rod I ever wrapped was a 4wt fly rod ;-) its so much fun fishing with everything you made ;-) hope all is well, take care. lindsay

      Hi Lindsay,
I've replaced an odd eye on a rod but I've never had the opportunity to make my own. If I had to though it would have been a cane rod but this would only be a dream as I have no idea how to do this...

***** I've only wrapped on graphite. I would of loved to learn how to make a cane rod from the very beginning. Splitting it and gluing, the whole nine yards. But the rod company I worked for didn't work with it. We just made graphite blanks. If you ever get a break from your beautiful fly videos, I highly recommend trying it. Its easy I swear....... Once you learned, you'd probably be making rod wrapping videos too...... ;-) take care, lindsay

Hi Davey, I just have a quick question for you I would like to know where do you buy the dyes for dying the feathers that you use. Is there such a thing as a special die for feathers. I remember you did a video on the topic, This video that you just posted some years ago is awesome and I love the videos that you up in general. I simply don't know where in the heck you get all the ideas for all these wonderful flies you've been tieing for years and seem to never run out of ideas. I thank you from the bottom of my heart for all the effort that you do do to put these flies online. They give me a lot of inspiration and I look forward to your next one......
May God bless you Richly Davie!!!

      Hi John,
I buy all the dyes I use from a company called Veniards who are a wholesale company and supply many shops throughout the world and hopefully there will be one close to you as they should be able to sell you their dyes.. I have attached a link to their stockists and as well to their dyes for you to see.I would like thank you very much for all your kind words which I really do appreciate far more than many know as it's my inspiration to keep making these videos...

Great looking little fly Davie. Just wondering if you can tie that in other colours and are you going to do any streamers? Like to see one of Carrie Stevens if you have time my friend. Thanks for sharing. Best Regards, Ken

      Hi Ken,
This style of fly is tied in many colour combinations as this style works really well..I would like to tye an original dressing by Carrie Stevens as I do have some streamer hooks...I feel I have to really tye a few to do her flies justice as you need to get a feel for the way the materials should go, I need spare time and at the moment I've very little but just keep reminding me...
      All the very best Davie
