I don't think it's really about the different directors, more like the fact that they course corrected with each entry. Like they built up Rey's parents in the Force Awakens, only to say they were nobody in the Last Jedi, and then they decided in the Rise of Skywalker that it was her grandfather who was important. Or how Luke throws away his lightsaber in Jedi, but then lectures Rey for doing the same thing in Skywalker. That's like if in Empire Strikes Back, they somehow revived Obi Wan Kenobi, instead of having him as a ghost.

Godzilla was more Popular, No One heard of Gamera, Daie was nearing Bankruptcy, and Gamera was a Japanese Kid’s Franchise, not meant to be taken seriously. But the talented artists behind this trilogy gave us what is considered by Kaiju Scholars as some of, if not, the Greatest Kaiju Movies of all Time. The effects withstand the test of time, many if the characters leave lasting impressions, and despite this starting out as a Godzilla Bootleg made for Kids, it has Dark, realistic, and Serious Themes, And these films set the standard for Kaiju Flicks moving forward. it's a crime the cornetto trilogy wasn't here
Love the respect for LOTR 🔥
Rush Hour and the first 3 Lethal Weapon films (the 4th one is still good though). Also, if it could somehow count, I’d add Die Hard, Die Hard 2 and Die Hard 4 (ignore the third one), cause those 3 are amazing
All of these have more than three, but the first three movies feel like a complete trilogy and the sequels are kind of reboots to the franchise. Mad Max, Kung Fu Panda, and Toy Story all tell amazing stories across three films
Men In Black: Am I a joke to you?
For me, the MCU Spider-Man films are all really great, I thoroughly enjoyed all three
The Gamera Heisei Trilogy, some of if not these best Kaiju films ever made
Not as movies but books, the hunger games trilogy is incredible
HTTYD, 3 might have a big tone shift from the first and second, but it rounded out and ended Hiccup's journey in such a satisfying way. The first is in my opinion the best movie ever, and the secuil does well with continuing the story. (RoB, DoB, and RttE are just the icing on the cake.)
The Dollars trilogy has to be up there
A Fist Full Of Dollars, A Few Dollars More, and the perfect closer The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly. Amazing trilogy
if we only talking about triology, it is how to train your dragons.
The monster verse is goated fr
The Beverly Hills Cops trilogy
The Maze Runner Trilogy should be on the list
