Billy Strings and Marcus King - Summertime. Two guys, two guitars, absolute magic.
Nothing like hearing good Appalachian music for the first time. Well done gents!!
His Home album just won a Grammy
You guys have to check out Billy Strings' song Turmoil and Tinfoil! It's a bluegrass song for metalheads!
The version of him playing in some stoners living room is better. IMO
Green shirt guy!
@@earthsciteach It's in a basement and green shirt guy never got his cigarette lit.
Green shirt guy is a side quest NPC.
I agree, the original one is better
The dude in the green adds to it lol and the random hooting in the back. Such a real picking feel
Check out "Turmoil and Tinfoil" by Billy Strings. The version where he's wearing the pink sunglasses. It's phenomenal.
Absolutely
literally one of it not the best live performance i’ve ever seen
defiantly react to "Turmoil and Tinfoil" live!
I agree
Does this "Mike Crider" have a Christian TATTOO on his back, and does he know a kid named Bane?
Billy strings is goated
BMFS!
Billy strangs
Great to see Billy reaching a wider audience.
Billy is flat picking the hell out of his strings. Catch his videos playing with the GOAT Tommy Emmanuel at Grey Fox music festival. You're just beginning to see what Bluegrass at it's finest is all about. 🤣🥰
Billy's father is a very well-known Bluegrass picker and Billy grew up playing from as young of an age as when a guitar fit in his hands. At single digits in age, he was playing with much older people live in front of the mic. Billy also used to play with his father and still does regularly to this day. He has taken a bunch of styles and added them to what he already knew about Bluegrass. If you look at the videos of his father playing similar solos, that's where it came from. Billy was also influenced by a large number of other musicians.
4:55 When two of your totally different interests combine into one video 😂 ESH! Cheers from Texas guys! Coolest blokes ever!
There are people in Texas that have served 20 years in prison for $20 worth of weed. So the
song is actually spot on .
The song is more than spot on it’s literally about someone billy knows lol
Dust in a baggie in not about weed.. it's about meth lol
Dude.. the “dust” is not weed…
It’s meth
@@Nothinglefttosay Dude , your right about the dust being meth and I’m right about people serving 20 years in prison in Texas for a little bit of weed.
@@Nothinglefttosay he's saying it's accurate because there are people serving years for just weed, so definitely meth
If you like Billy Strings, give Hank III a listen. He is the grandson Hank Williams Sr (one of, if not the best country and western singers) and son of Hank Williams Jr. He sounds like his grandpa, but has his own sound. Crazed country rebel would be a good first song of his to listen to.
Country Heroes and Pills I Took are great Hank 3 songs. I sure hope he comes back to tour again. He has been MIA for a few years now.
This song is a true story. His uncle was pulled over on a traffic stop in Detroit, MI and they found a baggie with minute dust of a substance in it. When they tested it the test popped positive for methamphetamine and he ended up catching a 20 year sentence for possession. Or so I have been told by some people who know Billy (in front of him and he never said anything to contest the story).
Pleasure enjoying some Billy Strings with you blokes. 😜
The expressions on all three of your faces is priceless.
You guys defineteley have to react to Tyler Childers. He's in my top 5 country singers.
I’d say either Nose on the grindstone or feathered Indians to react to.
@@huntercollins1059 both great....I love Follow me to Virgie too
@@homegardenbook4886 my personal favorite is bottles and bibles
White house road or hard times for me
Banded clovis!
This is for Left Side Office Bloke :). Billy Strings and Don Julin "Freeborn Man" also Billy and Tommy Emmanuel "Guitar Boogie/Working Man Blues" Thanks Gentleman, love the videos.
You just Said it! You said IT again. 😂 I was totally there! Peace, from the NC colony.
kinda funny how it's come full circle...settlers from Ireland and UK brought their folk tunes and instruments with them out western US, then the music came back east to TN and KY as bluegrass and now crossing the Atlantic back to the UK and Ireland and modern listeners say "I could never sing like that!"
Great Band. Love it
Fun fact about “O brother, where art thou?”
It is loosely based off “The Odyssey”
There's a title card at the beginning of the movie that says this
Did I just see a British bloke with a 'Cowboys From Hell' tattoo?!?😱
.....FOOKIN' AYE!!🤘😈🤘
That's that southern mountain 🔥. At least that's what us Scots-irish up here in the hills call it. It kinda evolved from the music we brought here from over yalls way.
Yes sir
Old time mountain music
Dude! I live in the Southern US and I can't imitate his voice. He is a legend!
You guys need to check out Marcus King perform Goodbye Carolina at the Opry, its one of the best live performances ive ever seen
He's from Michigan, a state so North it borders Canada. He doesn't have the accent either .
Much like many of the New Country "artists".
@@Watthead80 Fuckin’ A
Check out anything by Chris Stapleton.
I live in the North Georgia Mountains 2 miles from Tennessee and blue grass will get any of us doing an old fashioned jig that has Scottish and Irish roots. They settled this area. Love this stuff cant get enough of it!
Musically this is super traditional bluegrass. There are songs like this by the dozens with the same chord progression. The difference is the subject matter has been updated. In the past it was always about moonshine and killing cheating women. Billy dropped the “Mountain Dew” and changed it to meth.
The difference is the finger work on that fret board of a Flat top Guitar!
No gimmicks, You don’t just pick up a guitar and play like that
If you guys enjoyed this, you should check out The Boy Who Wouldn't Hoe Corn by Union Station, which features Dan Tyminski, who did all the singing for George Clooney in O' Brother Where Art Thou
I have followed you Bros for years.. being from the bluegrass state (of kentucky) this is bluegrass music.. its a major part of o brother.. and I happy yall enjoyed this.. with much love and respect... also between bluegrass and country music
... sturgill simpson and tyler childers are an hour from me in their hometowns
Billy's Train Train cover is A-MAZ-ING!
Check out his version of Tennessee Stud. It's done very well.
You guys gotta do Turmoil & Tinfoil, red glasses one
I don’t see how you can stop the video, it makes you and me want to keep on watching!
Office Dudes..........Billy is from MICHIGAN..........on the border with CANADA........He is NOT from the South.....but he sure does spend a lot of time fishing in Tennessee. He's giving respect to the MUSIC.
Love me some Bluegrass (music). Billy Strings is awesome! I like you show too my brothers. From AL. US
There's some places up in Appalachia where they do the clogging to bluegrass music. The people are Scot-Irish. You can see the roots from the old country.
Punch Brothers would be an excellent band to react to. One of their live performances of Familiarity would be incredible... or any live song, really... but Familiarity a masterpiece. .
This music has its roots from Scotland and Ireland. Immigrants from Europe in the hills of Kentucky Tennessee Virginia and more. From across the pond. It developed into country and Blues from Africa and YOU. Song Catcher is a good movie as well. Blue Hills and the rain forests of USA. It's a must see.
This music has strong DEEP Scotch-Irish roots.
Hey Patrick! Billy didn't get that red hair being born in Mexico, lol. William Apostle is his real name and certainly has some Irish/Scottish in there somewhere.
From the thumbnail, I thought it said “Dust in a Bagel”. I was thoroughly confused.😂
You should do “watch it fall” by Billy Strings. Great song and great scenery in the video.
I love that song!
If you feel sorry for the bass player, look no further - check out Ghost-Note (or Snarky Puppy)! Love Billy BTW!
Nice vid guys
Nothing like a great bluegrass tune!
O Brother Where Art Thou is a retelling of Homer's Odyssey from the perspective of people in the depression era South U.S.
Gojira Where dragons dwell live its epic
Great song ...great reaction...his song While I'm Waiting Here is awesome too...He's known as the greatest blue grass flat picker guitar player in the world
There is a video of Billy Strings playing Man Of Constant Sorrow which is the big song from Oh Brother Where Art Thou.
Clogging is a style of dance. Came from London and is a deep rooted dance from Appalachian mountains Blugrass music. Banjo from the African slaves. Progressed with more strings. Cotton eyed Joe and the fiddle was a gift from Europe. Sad poverty in alot of those hills. Soil was hard to produced crops. Songs passed down without it being written. Please watch Song Catcher. If it wasn't for your part if Eugene we might not have rock and roll. Britain has amazing music history and excellent musicians. BTW we love your channels! You blokes are great.
Check out Billys good friend Marcus King "Goodbye Carolina" at the grand ole opry.
You guys need to check out Colter Wall!
I'm not sure how I missed this in my feed
Johnny Cash stomped out the lights at the Opry. When it was still hosted at The Ryman theatre. Nashville,Tennessee
billy sings Man of Constant sorrow from that movie
He is going to London for the first time next year.
The first version of him with his hair high and tight in a basement with his friends is 100x better in my opinion but this video is good as well. I like all of his bluegrass pickin
Reaction channels are so cool. Its like so neat how they take other peoples content that they put creative effort into. They watch it. Add nothing at all as far as value to it. And get views. So cool.
Jamel aka Jamal is the best reaction channel, hands down. The guy actually puts some thought, and heart & soul into his videos. Most of the mopes doing reaction channels are lame, just like you describe….. This one is no exception…
Wow, they are good! BLUEGRASS!
Friday November 17th 2023 Billy is playing Manchester. Go check him out live, one of the best live shows out there.
I WOULD ABSOLUTELY LOVE TO HEAR BLUEGRASS WITH A MANCHESTER ACCENT. THAT WOULD BE HILARIOUS....
Yes! Watch "Ole Brother..."! Sound track is amazing! All this mountain music and clogging, probably came from the Irish folk? Someone embellish, please. Love y'all
3 heads nodding in unison, say no more !
I’m Fuzzy and I can’t understand a word they are saying but they don’t know the Ryman is called the church of country music?? Kinda takes away the irony of him playing that song in that place but hey if they are Billy fans, they could be friends of mine. Great job guys.
Weird place to find this song, but,. Ok then it jams
Chris Stapleton is a must check out. Country blues at its best.
I would love to hear some Manchester bluegrass!
Love billy strings, check out watch it fall..lovely song. Or , Colter wall, tyler childers..all mega talented. Great work btw
The grand Ole opery is like the country music version of the royal Albert hall
Gotta love bluegrass
I think you fellows have kinda missed the boat on this one. Perhaps it's a cultural thing for the misunderstanding, but in the US midwest and other rural areas, amphetamine and opioid addictions are a major problem and are responsible for thousands of deaths. I don't believe the song is supposed to be a good-time celebration of getting high or a bitch about the heavy-handedness of the "man” Rather, although the blue grass tune is upbeat, the lyrics are quite sober observing how addiction can ruin a life. Billy Strings nails it.
You guys need to checkout Benjamin tod and Tyler childers
Yo you blokes.. good stuff you’re listening to.. billy strings use to be in a metal band out of Michigan.. now he rocks the bluegrass music, as you can see.. Chris Stapleton is definitely a good artist to review.. he’s done bluegrass with a band called The Steeldrivers.. rock with a band called the Jompson brothers..the song The River is my favorite.. but his solo career is awesome..
I've noticed quite a few Europeans like American bluegrass.
Hey Lads! Good review on this awesome flat picker. Billy did a guitar promo for Fender acoustasonic statocaster. Will blow you away. Called Salt Creek. Check it out. Thanks for sharing and love, light and blessings to all from Michigan Usa.
Good ole footstomping bluegrass flat picking . You should check his covers of the Grateful Dead .
Nice cfh tat
Working 3 miles from where he was born and raised, it makes complete sense why he would have more than one song about meth.
If you want to see folks from your side of pond doing this type music you need to hear The Green Cards, its two Ausies and a Brit in the band.
Hes got a lot of inspiration from the young keith whitley i can hear hhaa
billy is a prodigy. check out marcus king as well, he's also a prodigy but more of the southern bluesy rock type. you won't believe his voice
should have used the green shirt guy video...
He does a cover of man of constant sorrow!
Check out..home free man of constant sorrow. (Remake of soggy bottom boys)
Listen to Billy strings "train train" for guitar brilliance.
Gotta check out “Turmoil in Tinfoil “.
This is the lineup you have to react to
Billy Stings turmoil and tinfoil
Tyler Childers, (any of his live songs) hard times, nose on the grindstone, whitehouse road etc......
Colter wall brewery sessions and cowpoke
Be respectful. He took the hardest path to success. Who goes into bluegrass to get famous. It was pure love. Billy is so good now that he’s one of the hottest live acts today. He, Tedesci Trucks and Dead and Co The best live shows out there. Billy got his roots then fell into Dylan dead and jams like a mo fo. Billy is the best Flat picker alive today, Derek is the best slide guitarist , you need a little more deep diving to really understand his brilliance.
Watch this crazy jam action. Tinfoil and turmoil and the crowd has no idea what awesomeness they just witnessed. Sometimes called Pantera bluegrass. He works the crowd so well
ua-cam.com/video/fJmzS_Redh8/v-deo.html
Watch Roy Clark play banjo, Spanish guitar and fiddle. will amaze.
Love my Aussie friends but don't think y'all quite get how awesome this track really is on so many levels. From the musical skill and creativity to billy's back story...
Kudos to the bloke who recommended it.....
PS
Richard Careltons interview of milat family is best interview I've ever seen...
If you're British ignore everything i said and piss off.
Note many players can play that clean at that speed.. good luck
Better review , I Was Wrong by Chris Stapleton....the Austin City Limits version....will blow your minds.
If you like this, you should check out Billy strings watch it fall
Check out anything from Punch Brothers. Great picking.
Music come out of the Appalachian Mountains square root of this music came from Europe the population that occupied these areas from Europe was greatly known as the Irish Scots these stem from the colonization from Great Britain and you look it up on the history maps you'll see how far it stems.
This is quite possibly the most inane commentary I've ever encountered.
if you like this check out Dave Evans One loaf of bread or Ralph Stanley Man of Constant Sorrow
