Long time not posting Mrs WFT! You'll never guess what. I did my DNA ancestry test and I'm 18% Scottish! No wonder everything you make looks so delicious to me! Hugs from America
I'm of Scottish descent, Campbell and Buchanan, I grew up having hearty dishes like this. We just called it stew and it usually consisted of meat(s),potatoes, onions, carrots and whatever variety of vegetables that were available. Coming from a family with 8 children, who always brought friends home this dish was economical for feeding a huge crew of people
@TheRenaissanceman65 I myself have no electricity and cook on a 2 burner campstove or the gas grill. I keep a pizza stone in the grill with a stainless steel rack on top, I'll put my ingredients in a crockpot liner, place in the grill with 2 outside burners on low and allow to cook for hours, stirring every so often
I would have a very hard time stopping at One Serving! We're getting locked down even more in Ontario... more time to create some of your Delicious recipes Cheryl.
I absolutely love this channel. I'm Scottish, however, I was brought to Spain at a young age and my mum can't cook for shit. Especial Scottish dishes. It's nice to be able to cook Scottish dishes that taste exactly how my gran would make them. Loving the traditional Scottish dishes, I'll be making this for the family on Sunday :).
The Welsh can have their Cowl, the Liverpudlians can have their Scouse and the Cornish can have their Pasties but the Scotts can always have their Stovies
Putting more into the pot today. Let's fill this with lots of cheery comments, don't let them grind you down. Lovely recipe. Of course 👀 I'll try to make it this weekend. Then report back. Looks fool proof. So I'll be ok x
I'm glad you asked us to rewatch. This time I took notes on ingredients. I want to eat this as soon as possible!! 🤣 I'm sharing in hopes you get a few extra views.
Stovies were my Grandpa’s favorite! My Grandma made them in a pot on the stove top. I’ll have to try this crock pot recipe! Thanks for sharing, again! Lol❤️
Made this when the original video came out. It was so rich and filling, even my picky daughter loved it. The corned beef definitely makes this. I'm going to add this recipe to my fall and winter meal list.
Hmmm, yummy hearty food, though I won’t be able to wait so much time to taste it😋😜I’ll be making it in a normal dish...I’m impatiently hungry😊thanks fo the recipe🌸
layering helps with cooking evenly, it also separates things a little as the meat and corned beef cook faster than the veggies. that bit of water gives it a little extra moisture, adding to the forming broth and preventing drying out of the veggies on the bottom
An interesting one Cheryl. I've seen stovies made with each of these ingredients, just never with them 𝒂𝒍𝒍 in there. I bet it's a tasty combination.👍👌😁
We always make it with good quality sausages. We use tonnes of onions, big wedges that break down as it cooks (yu!) I sometimes finish mine off with kale steamed on top. Rather fab x
Normally, I'd be making Stovies from a Sunday Roast Beast (beef) but I think I might just make your version for Sunday dinner! :) Sorry to hear about the Copyright issue...funny how some can use it and others not, but ah well. I'll watch & re-watch all of your videos because they're just *so comforting*. ❤️
Watching again 🙂👍 Must try this recipe. Would never have thought of adding corned beef to a stew, but I bet it adds loads of flavour. It does look lovely 🙂
I’ve never had stovies. I, like everyone in Scotland was brought up on mince n potatoes and to this day I can’t eat it in any form but...I’m eying up your cauliflower soup recipe 😋 xx
Stovies 2.0! Not something I would make to be honest but the soundtrack of this video is phenomenal isn't it? I am sure it will for UA-cams first ever Scottish knife dance award! Oh I can't keep my knees from bending and doing a Highland Fling! 😎
Well poop. Here I said I was definitely going to re-watch and the stinking UA-cam algorithm made a liar out of me. This does look fantastic! I can imagine this simmering on an old school Scottish stove while some housewife anxiously waits for her husband to come home. I was wondering if adding some frozen peas at the end might add some nice flavour plus make the dish look better.
Is this what you used to fill the pie your mother called stovie pie? Looks great. I love slow cooker meals. Start in the morning before work and come home to magic.
Hi Cheryl. It's been a while since my last comment. Great idea to preheat the slow cooker, it takes the cold edge off the heat up time. I have to do this with my coffee and tea cups during winter.. I love these kind of meat and veg (stovie) meals. They can easily fill and satisfy an empty stomach. What was the stock ingredients you used please? Thanks for posting your delicious recipe.
I recently discovered that I am of Scottish decent and want to learn what type of foods my ancestors may have eaten. This dish is so very similar of what my mom used to make. I wonder if maybe this dish was passed down thru the years. I love your channel and look forward to learning more recipes.
Good morning x just put this on little twerks, forgotten to puds spuds in👀🍽️can I put them in now, by the way the smell is delicious 😋 already big thanks 🌸 God bless you and keep you safe 💕
I can't use beef because my mum can't digest it. Can it be substituted? Being of English decent (2nd generation American) I love cooking foods my Nana's homeland. I'm hoping the meat can be switched to say chicken or pork.
if i wanted pretty i'd be eating in some overpriced tyre star place with 3 peas and a dribble of gravy on a plate.......havent got past the raw ingredients yet and already know id rather eat this than anything some ego driven restaurant could offer (rant over on with the grub)
Back to normal :) Thanks folks xxx

In northern Belgium and Netherlands it is called Stoofvlees. Most likely introduced to Scotland by King Billy troops.
In South Africa we call it Stowevleis
I was very happy to watch this again Cheryl! It looks delicious. 😋

Your ancestors would not have eaten this recipe. This is NOT traditional Stovies. This is a modern jazzed up version more like a stew.
Stovies in my house was, totties, links cut up in the wee bits and oxo
Love it but I call it Lobbies where I'm from 😋😋
What's the difference between that and stew other than the meat being chopped.
Good morning x just put this on little twerks, forgotten to puds spuds in👀🍽️can I put them in now, by the way the smell is delicious 😋 already big thanks 🌸 God bless you and keep you safe 💕
I wondered if you were going to get dinged for that song....

Wow nice vlog Cheryl
Watching a second time to help out
Not to be rude, but what makes this different from mince and tatties?
That’s not the stovies I was brought up on and not served in Peebles either my mother made stovies with potatoes onions water and butter 🧈
I’ll skip the butter and use olive oil.
I want a stovie
That's a real stick to your ribs kin d of meal tfs 🥰🌵💐🌱🌞🏜️💗🥰🌵💐🌱🌞🏜️💗
What you call a swede... what is that in America please?
a reupload?
Why have you uploaded again
@TheRenaissanceman65 ok thank u.

Why not put good Scottish music on your channel instead of Chinese music?
This is a repeat. Lol.
Cheryl had an issue with music on 1st time. So she doesn't get any money from that one.
