Another company (whose DAW I used for many years) charges $50 for a batch file converter add-on. Features like this serve to confirm to me that switching to Reaper was one of the best moves of my life as an engineer. Thank you so much!
I can't tell you how valuable this is Kenny, I am currently working on a video project that I've been holding back on publishing simply because of the audio loudness on one set of mp4 files that the perceived volume is less than the actual db audio. This is a great time and hassle free way to convert my files. Thanks a million 😊 🙏
I’m simply stunned - I didn’t know I needed this feature until now and I can see loads of uses for it! I guess you could use it with a bunch of tracks you’ve rendered in order to level up the volume for going on an album, for example
I use this to mix hundreds of Voice over files for video games. I set up a mix chain and save it, then i export all the VO files keeping their names and applying my fx chain. I do it in the batch converter rather then normal rendering because this allows me to setup for the next language while it's processing and exporting all those files in the background; less time wasted waiting!
Great video! One thing that I find really annoying is that FX chain doesn't save/load with the Batch File Presets. I have to process different VOs for different characters, and they are all using different FX Chains. Unless I'm missing something, I have to manually load the FX chain every time.
This feature is a lifesaver. Thanks for showing! And, um, I'd add some clickbaitness to the video title, so more people could watch it. Don't know how though:)
This looks like literally exactly what I want, but so many times in the past I've installed a new piece of software on my PC and it has gummed up my registry for the privilege of not doing the only thing I needed. Put my mind at ease that, if I install the trial version of Reaper on the data side of a partition, it's not going to start mucking up my file associations, or creating a bunch of circular codec conflicts with other apps like Premiere? I've had this happen to me *way* too many times.
idk if its some problem with my configuration, if its with the codec or if its a bug, but the converter isn't working with flac, i'm also having problems with flac when rendering project regions (as master for an album) but not when rendering normal projects...
Awesome stuff. I've used Izotope RX Batch Processor for this, for some reason. I just didn't know my everyday favourite software has this built in. What a waste of time, haha
Hey Kenny, got a question unrelated to this video. Whenever i record a guitar track, i open a new track, hit record, record the DI, and then push the recorded file to an adjacent track to make space for the next one. now, if i do not move the last guitar item away from that recording track, this track will sound immensly different and be completely different in recorded volume, even though all settings are exactly the same across all guitar tracks. do you have any clue why this is happening? i mean, it is easy to fix by simply dragging every guitar track away from the recording track, but still, curious.
Edit: I found out that it has to do with the sample rate i play at - if at 16 Samples, this one track will be much quieter and actually more spiky in the top range, in 1024 it is barely noticeable. but why only on this one track? :D
Wow awesome, that is just awesome, I have a hybrid system, Reaper is for finishing arrangements and jamming out in Ableton, fact is Reaper has far better midi mixing and tweaking tools, this is better in every way, as well as I can batch file all sounds for UA-cam Spotify, collaborators, whatever, and have them all in named Customized Folders. This is literally a "day saver."
Literally this. I have been begging on Ableton's feature wishlist for years for stuff like this, dynamic split, and other quality of life changes, only for them to never be added. And what's worse is people in the forums don't seem to even understand how powerful and useful this stuff is. But use a feature like this once and you can never go back.
Hey Kenny, can you do a video about batch renaming files?? I am a voice actor and often have to send off dozens of files at once. I use the Action that creates Regons from Items then I export the CSV file so I can quickly rename things via Excel...that part is simple. Then I use the SWS Action that allows me to change the item names to the Region names I just created. But for some reason, Reaper never actually renders the file names correctly. The SWS Aciton works perfectly, the CSV/Excel step works perfetly but Reaper only gets about 70% of the file names right after rendering. I honestly don't know what is going wrong and it is extremely tedious to manually type or copy/paste so many files. Any help would be much appreciated.

Little late to the party, but 1) Will this convert to Tro Pools* like a different company, (__%#@$__) charges 200usd for software to do so?...or do ppl need to convert to WAV ?2) Do tracks line up RTZ style when conversion goes as planned (no glitches)? I am always amazed by all these convenience features in Reaper... Great DAW, great tutorials, thank you!!!

very nice and useful for composers looking to add ambient sounds that always come in weird formats. 👍👍

I would watch these videos just to see Kenny’s introduction
Is there an option to set default metadara for renders?

Use it a lot. What this thing misses is a "Close window" button. Otherwise it's brilliant.
Wow! I can definitely see how this can really be a great convenience. As always, thanks very much!
Thank you Kenny, you always save my butt

I spelled Converter "Convertor".
@@REAPERMania don't stress about it, your videos is amazing the way they are ❤️

Chicken lady loves life... lol.
She does.
I just wish the batch converter could scan subdirectories and delete the original files. It will always be a bit clunky until they fix this.
Gosh what an amazing function…I can definitely use this for creating Kontakt libraries 🙏🙏🏿👏👏🦄🎩
Can I convert a .mid file to .WAV file and apply a VST instrument? Take a mid file play it thru the instrument and save it as a WAV? In reaper?
So helpful tips, thanks Kenny. :)
Thanks!!🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽

Can we get some mixing/mastering tips in reaper from you?

There's a batch file renamer called Siren from Scarabee that could help you, free and no install.
@@cajonaconaquetebotou I appreciate the comment but that is not the type of renaming I need.
Excellent
Thank you so much 😀
Converter needs two options: test after conversion and delete original.
So usefull! Tnx
