You do such a great job of finding examples for these actions and features. I often struggle to fully understand some of these things from just reading the patch notes. Your channel is invaluable!
I wanted to transition to reaper but when I tried it in the context of a real project I couldn't even do simple stuff so I had to revert to cakewalk. Does anyone of you had the same problem? In the years I successfully used pro tools, logic and cakewalk and never had such an hard time learning them. I think it is due to the great customization capabilites of reaper, but I feel like I don't have time to dive into the huge amount of tutorials available. Do you guys have any suggestion to speed up the process or there's any quick way to make this work like the other daws I already know, just to make the learning curve a little steeper?
I've tried to do stuff in Reaper several times over the years. I always went back to Logic Pro X. Heck, even GarageBand works better for me than Reaper does. Guess I'm an old dog, getting older. lol
@@tommyapocalypse6096 I think you need a reason to move from logic to Reaper, like some specific feature you can't find in logic which is necessary to your workflow.
That might be a pain to implement properly, since the information would only be known when the render is complete. As far as I can tell, every other wildcard variable would be known when you click Render, so REAPER can simply create the file with the correct name, render to it, and close it.
How can you set your plugin fx to show on the right hand side in the track view like pro tools.? The fx plugins list in Reaper default where they are listed underneath is annoying especially when you have your track views set low and cannot even see the plugins listed.
15:44 Why not having many tempo grid instead of having tempo into the item? Imagine how it would streamline the work in TV/Film music. You would have to worry about changing tempo in a project because they can be totally independent. 15 cues with 15 different tempo tracks available. We could even toggle the change the tempo grid in relation to the transport bar. I think Cubase/Nuendo has this feature of "alternative tempo" for trying different tempo map.
I just purchased the updated version starting at v7.11. It still shows on my screen OLD LICENSE (EVALUATION LICENSE)? Also doesn’t look any different from my previous version which was 6.9. Any thoughts?
@@TheREAPERBlog Thanks the other problem I had last night was I couldn’t get my email on my computer. I use Comcast and my friend who a IT specialist told me about new security settings for that server I need to change. So maybe that’s the reason. I got the confirmation email on my phone. Thanks for the advice!
@@TheREAPERBlog It was the problem with my email provider Xfinity Comcast. I finally got the emails into my computer. As soon as I copied the license it now shows registered to me. Now I can start getting familiar with the different themes and updates!
I keep hoping for a text field popup to be able to type in values for all parameters in one of these updates. Dragging the little knobs to precise values is so slow and annoying.
@@dimitrisgakis9206 While researching it to see if anyone had a solution, I found loads of threads on the reaper forum asking for this that spanned over 15 years. This has been a highly requested feature and for some reason the Reaper team isn't doing it.

ah thanks. Its difficult for me as well at times.
I did NOT know Reaper had this container feature. What a genius idea.
along with the "Paranormal FX Router" script it is really great.
I just watched it again - learned even more! Thanks again, Jon!
Happy New Year!
That edge item limit 👌
New video when? :) really love your stuff as well man
Happy New Year to you and your family as well.
Great update, but when are they going to update the theme adjuster option for the default template?

it took me 6 years to crossfade from pt to reaper but it was worth the time

Thank you for making these videos if not we wouldn't know a lot.
Theme Adjuster > Track control Panel, like Version 6, in Reaper 7. please................................

Thank you so very much, Jon! You're awesome!
You're very welcome!
Great update! Thank you Jon! I need to explore the project bay. It looks like it can improve workflow.
it's really great when you have a project with an obscene amount of media items
Thanks, Jon!
It would be great when rendering if Reaper had $wildcards for loudness (peak, rms, lufs etc)

"Global Sampler" script by BirdBird. always recording and I can drag and drop sections from there to save as files
@@TheREAPERBlog Nice! Thanks :)
7:57 My new default for sure 👍 !
Hmm, my licence stops at v6.xx, so I'm not sure that I'm going to upgrade. Shame, as containers look quite handy.

thanks jon

are you sure you didn't change it in the beta theme adjuster? TCP layout A and C have fx on right with default settings.
I mean like this. Does Reaper have this option in the prefrences somewhere? ua-cam.com/video/xxBVxbtiLoQ/v-deo.htmlsi=W35R1PjKoWIPbrmf

you need to import the new license
if it doesn't look different, check your theme in the options menu.

Pretty sure I spend more time customizing and tinkering with Reaper than I do recording or mixing with it 😂😂😂
nothing wrong with it if you enjoy it. we could have worse hobbies
Thank you Bro
Welcome
Hi. What is the theme for the Reaper that you have installed?
default version 7
@@TheREAPERBlog Thanks
How far ahead is protools, cubase etc still from reaper ? Or has reaper caught up and is nearly identical at this point?
they're all good enough
Reaper is (and has been for some time) way ahead of the others...

do not just hope, make a propose to Reaper's team, your suggestion is great.
there is a script for that. I use it a lot.
what is it called?
