The entire God Of War series (including the new ones) has a very very special place in my heart. I would have loved them anyway, but I played God Of War with my dad growing up, and at the time my dad was a very angry man and far from a great parent. He hit absolute rock bottom, basically ruining everything in his life. Then, around 2016 he started turning it all around, and became a fantastic father that I could truly be proud of. Hes now calm and collected, working hard to keep things stable for his new family (im an adult now and he remarried and has another daughter) Its crazy how the game I used to play with my dad, mirrored his life so well.

My favorite thing about GOW 3 has to be the enemy designs. These are definitely some of the most badass interpretations of classical creatures from Greek Mythology, and they feel so much more threatening and intimidating than in other games. Sure, the enemy designs in GOW have always been great, but thanks to GOW 3's updated graphics, it gave these creatures a lot more visual polish and allowed them to really stand out compared to before, with the Chimeras being a personal favorite of mine.
@@vlad_47 Oh yeah, I know that most enemies retain the same general design throughout the games, I just mean in terms of visual appearance, the enemies of GOW 3 look a lot more detailed and polished compared to previous games. For example, Centaurs in GOW 1 looked pretty blocky and awkward, but in GOW 3, they certainly look a lot cooler and more imposing. Makes sense given that it's on a more powerful console, but I still appreciate the visual upgrades to the enemy designs regardless.

The set pieces and locations tho havent trumped GoW 1 and 2 despite the superior graphics. Kratos was willing to leave Hermes alone and gone on with his quest to beat Zeus but Hermes had to screw around and found out in brutal fashion. Kratos was the villain who was willing to destroy the world just to fight Zeus aka killing gods and the consequences the world suffers from their deaths. The gameplay, the aesthetics, the storyline, music and world building is top notch in setting up the finale of the Greek Saga.

A couple of weeks ago I started playing God of War 2018 and it sucked me in like a black hole, now I am fully invested in this universe and its characters. I've decided I need to know everything and play all the games. This game feels like it should've been a part of my childhood, instant favourite for me. I now see where the Jedi Fallen order/survivor games got their inspiration from.
Bro I've never related the Omphalos stone with the one Cronos ate or maybe I didn't think of it that way. This is actually beautiful and makes the Nemesis Whip 10x better lore wise.
There is so much great hack & slash games like DMC, Onimusha, Darksiders, Castlevania LoS trilogy etc. But GoW is another level for gaming. Especially GoW 3, newer GoW games have better graphic and they are bigger games, but no new game will top GoW 3 in terms of gameplay, atmosphere, pacing and Boss fights. Let's hope for new GoW games will back to it's roots of faster pacing and gameplay.
I REALLY enjoyed this video. I love God of War and have since it first came out way back when. I even have 2 God of War tattoos with plans to turn one of them into a much larger piece. I love the old and the new, though to be perfectly honest, I love the original games so much more than the new series. It's perhaps the finest example of Greek tragedy we have in our modern landscape and I never understand when people say the Norse saga has more story and depth. It's there in the original game in spades, you just have to play it. Thanks so much for shining a light on my favorite game of all time!

I loved God of War 3 as a kid because of its combat and unprecedented metal-ness. Our PS3 is broken now after more than a decade, but watching your video makes me want to find a way to play GOW3 again. The game is ageless at this point. It truly *is* a masterpiece.
As someone who skipped the PS2 and PS3 games, I really enjoyed GOW3. I played it after GOW4 and still found it very fun and it still holds up, something I cannot say for 90% of the ps3 era games.

I used to think to think this as a kid..and growing up playing this game I can see how it’s not really “appropriate” for a kid but I feel it’s been a blessing playing this as a kid I feel God was in it in some way shape or form.

About the circle thing: in the gow 2018, when kratos kills baldur, he says: „the circle ends here“. In gow2, when Zeus kills kratos at the beginning of the game, Zeus says the same to kratos. Just awesome
I feel the same about gow1 as you feel about gow3 if i was a youtuber i would say .... Pandoras temple all the traps the challenges of the gods the power they gave you, the full circle you do in Pandora's temple with the skulls, the desert, the city, the under water, the under world , and the way you comeback from the under world................. And coming full circle again in the end: " the gods of olympus have abandon me, now their is no hope ". "2005"
God of War 3 in my opinion is the peak of action games. Everything from the music, the story, the gameplay, the visuals, all scream epic and satisfying. I enjoyed the Norse era games for they were but to me the series never got better than this.
One of the things gow3 did better than any game is sell the technical leap from the ps2 to the ps3. Even with ps4 and ps5 we dont get those WOW moments like we used to. Not to mention it was a game that didnt need to worry about diversity or cinematics or being offensive, it just did what it did and did it well 🔥
The first leap i remember was going to a parents friends house and seeing the first uncharted game, the wet leaves blew me away as i still only had the ps2
I love the way the hits were counted and the blood upgrade method is so sick which is missing in gow 2018 and ragnarok.. The brutal gow and seemeless action in gow 3 is unmatchable

Gow3, will always have a special place in my heart, not for the reasons mentioned in the video though. When my dad first got me a ps4, he also bought a game in it for me to play, it was Gow3. My dad had given my 11 year old self a brutal game like gow3, so this game has a special place in my heart.
Me personally I like Ascension more because of the boss fights and sliding around random stuff. Those little quick time events where you grappled an enemy and had to dodge and attack it were also legendary.
Can't believe I finished this game and missed this much. 2 was my favorite but now I'm not so sure. I really miss the old GOW, never been interested in the new gameplay style and never got the new ones. I clicked on this video with raised eyebrows but now, my mouth is stuck wide open. Considering the old collection now.

I still prefer the old trilogy over the new games. I bought a ps3 back in 2009 only because i wanted to play this game after playing the first 2 and seeing the amazing trailers for this one. To this day i've probably gone through the entire trilogy about a dozen times and GOW3 specifically a few more times than that. I'm not sure if i would call it my favorite game ever like you do, but it's definitely up there. The entire old trilogy was one of the best franchises ever.

I'm not sure if I'd say it's the greatest of all time, but I will say that I've probably played it more times than 95% of the games I own. It really is a masterpiece that never gets old. I was so pumped for it when it came out when I was in college that I actually dropped a class I had a midterm in the next morning because I couldn't put it down lol. In retrospect not the best move since I had to take an extra semester JUST to retake that one class, but fuck it I'd do it again because this game is fucking awesome.
Ever since I was 4, my favorite games have been god of war 1 and 2. To this day, God of war 2 is still my favorite game, though I only like it more than 3 because of nostalgia. I only got to play the game this year, after being in my mind since my early teens but with not having a PS3, no way to play it. This year still no PS3, or 4 or 5, but emulation does the magic once more, sure the frame rate is all over the place, the graphics ain't as good, but My God if i loved the game. Combat is so fucking gorgeous, same goes for the envirioments, music is fantastic, and as you said, the full circle, the overwhelming finale feel the game shines on is just beautiful. Wish i could play it in 60 fps, but hey! I was raised on the LapTop 20 fps gaming, so it is no a big deal. So yeah God of War 3 better than sex

I used to think to think this as a kid..and growing up playing this game I can see how it’s not really “appropriate” for a kid but I feel it’s been a blessing playing this as a kid I feel God was in it in some way shape or form.
I love this game as much as you do man 😂 i replayed a thousand times and im still going to replay it more. I love the combat, the bosses, the music, the weapons, everything... my favorite game of the series and one of my favorite games of all time. You’re teaching me a lot on the combat 😭 I’m on the hardest difficulty on the part where I have pandora going thru the labyrinth trying to get out and you get to that wave of sirens, Minotaurs, & noob enemies. I keep dying on that part but I’m gonna try again from what I was taught today, THANK YOU

About the circle thing: in the gow 2018, when kratos kills baldur, he says: „the circle ends here“. In gow2, when Zeus kills kratos at the beginning of the game, Zeus says the same to kratos. Just awesome

Pandoras temple all the traps the challenges of the gods the power they gave you, the full circle you do in Pandora's temple with the skulls, the desert, the city, the under water, the under world , and the way you comeback from the under world.................
And coming full circle again in the end: " the gods of olympus have abandon me, now their is no hope ". "2005"

God of War 3 in my opinion is the peak of action games. Everything from the music, the story, the gameplay, the visuals, all scream epic and satisfying. I enjoyed the Norse era games for they were but to me the series never got better than this.
One of the things gow3 did better than any game is sell the technical leap from the ps2 to the ps3. Even with ps4 and ps5 we dont get those WOW moments like we used to.
Not to mention it was a game that didnt need to worry about diversity or cinematics or being offensive, it just did what it did and did it well 🔥
This. It and MGS4 really felt like the next generation. I was there for GoW3, but not for MGS4. Playing MGS4 NOW feels new and futuristic.
The first leap i remember was going to a parents friends house and seeing the first uncharted game, the wet leaves blew me away as i still only had the ps2

I love the way the hits were counted and the blood upgrade method is so sick which is missing in gow 2018 and ragnarok.. The brutal gow and seemeless action in gow 3 is unmatchable
Personally I believe God of War 2 is the best video game of all time but 3 is definitely a one of a kind.

my mom got gow 3 for me when i got my ps3 years ago my 12 year old brain was instantly hooked, and my god the amount of times i watched that aphrodite scene for obvious reasons of course
Gow3, will always have a special place in my heart, not for the reasons mentioned in the video though. When my dad first got me a ps4, he also bought a game in it for me to play, it was Gow3. My dad had given my 11 year old self a brutal game like gow3, so this game has a special place in my heart.

Me personally I like Ascension more because of the boss fights and sliding around random stuff. Those little quick time events where you grappled an enemy and had to dodge and attack it were also legendary.
God of war 3 is in my top 5 favourite games of all time!!!
Can't believe I finished this game and missed this much. 2 was my favorite but now I'm not so sure. I really miss the old GOW, never been interested in the new gameplay style and never got the new ones. I clicked on this video with raised eyebrows but now, my mouth is stuck wide open. Considering the old collection now.

The og trilogy replay value was spot on across all the Games
I still prefer the old trilogy over the new games. I bought a ps3 back in 2009 only because i wanted to play this game after playing the first 2 and seeing the amazing trailers for this one.
To this day i've probably gone through the entire trilogy about a dozen times and GOW3 specifically a few more times than that.
I'm not sure if i would call it my favorite game ever like you do, but it's definitely up there.
The entire old trilogy was one of the best franchises ever.

I'm not sure if I'd say it's the greatest of all time, but I will say that I've probably played it more times than 95% of the games I own. It really is a masterpiece that never gets old. I was so pumped for it when it came out when I was in college that I actually dropped a class I had a midterm in the next morning because I couldn't put it down lol. In retrospect not the best move since I had to take an extra semester JUST to retake that one class, but fuck it I'd do it again because this game is fucking awesome.

Ever since I was 4, my favorite games have been god of war 1 and 2. To this day, God of war 2 is still my favorite game, though I only like it more than 3 because of nostalgia. (The is much better and more fluid game. Best Greek GOW) I'm so happy I found your channel. I found your channel when you first released the GOW Iceberg. Keep up the amazing work! I only got to play the game this year, after being in my mind since my early teens but with not having a PS3, no way to play it. This year still no PS3, or 4 or 5, but emulation does the magic once more, sure the frame rate is all over the place, the graphics ain't as good, but My God if i loved the game. Combat is so fucking gorgeous, same goes for the envirioments, music is fantastic, and as you said, the full circle, the overwhelming finale feel the game shines on is just beautiful. Wish i could play it in 60 fps, but hey! I was raised on the LapTop 20 fps gaming, so it is no a big deal.
