No bro as he mentioned there is a glitch that allows you to have all the items from the starting and i tried it and the skip you are talking about is just unavailable if i press l2 and x kratos rushes mindlessly into the wall
There are some theories that kratos' immortality is a curse. Basically, when pesephone tells him that his suffering will never end as she dies. Some speculate this was her cursing him. So he might be fully immortal.
There is also another thing about him being unable to kill himself due to the events that occure at the end of gow1. Where he tried but the gods don't allow jt
Pretty sure Kratos' immortality likely originated from him killing Death-related gods and deities like Thanatos, Persephone, Charon and Hades. Just an educated guess.
On the Barbarian King: His name is Alrik, which is likely a reference to King Alaric I of the Visigoths who sacked Rome. Well apparently, if you read the comics, he was actually a champion of Hades, and had a personal vendetta against Kratos pre-dating that battle where he was decapitated. Namely, he blamed Kratos for his father's death, as Kratos took some life-saving ambrosia back to Sparta to save Calliope, while Alrik's father died of a strange illness. An illness which Hades had set upon him. Now, Hades is dead, and it's possible that after Hades died, then Alrik could've escaped the Underworld, and could even get recruited by the either the Æsir or by Freya with the offer to kill Kratos and his son. Also, our idea of swear words is pretty modern in and of itself. Most of European history, it was less about what specific words you were using, and more about how you were using them. Stuff like sunuvabitch could've been said back then perhaps even more casually than it is now, since we're much more focused on the specific words themselves.
Fun fact: at 41:58 kratos says "My fate lies... Elsewhere, take this gift. If properly honed, it could up root the *Olive trees* of Olympus" That's a hint in gow Ragnarok where Mimir asked kratos what food is he craving for and kratos responded "Olives" and Mimir responded "The hells an Olive?"
Something that I want to mention that is overlooked and I feel is actually pretty important for Kratos mortal/immortal stuff. So basically, we took the soul of Hades in GOW3. It gotta do something beside summon some souls, he might be missing the claws but he still got the soul
50:31 It's a Sanskrit shloka from Geeta. Fun fact - Robert Oppenheimer father of nuclear bomb said the same shloka when the America testes the nuclear bomb for first time
20:40 it's sort of a mix of both. It's more conditional but you need to destroy him beyond repair like any Olympian. Remember the damage you give Zeus at the end of god of war 2 and that he's pretty much completely fine at the beginning of God of war 3.
On the sacrifice level in GOW 1 , I remember having to sacrifice the monster on the ps2 version ... I found out years later they replace the soldier with the monster for EU Market because it was too sadistic to burn a "man" ...
It would be a fun twist if they brought back Aphrodite with a son Kratos fathered during God of War III, intending to continue the cycle of sons killing their fathers.
Pretty sure Kratos' immortality likely originated from him killing Death-related gods and deities like Thanatos, Persephone, Charon and Hades. Just an educated guess.
If you think about it Zeus didn't actually imprison the titans, as you explained the titans were teleported into the future before Zeus used his blade, only Chronos and Atlas (who we saw were defeated were left behind, so Gaia was lying to Kratos about that, which makes sense seeing as both Athena and the Sisters tell Kratos Gaia is lying/telling half truths, this also lines up with her betrayal in 3. If you think about it this is pretty deep as Gaia must have found a way to communicate with Kratos from the past as she tells Kratos in the past, she has been waiting for him. Gaia is a master manipulator. Also, I don't think Zeus was that bad before opening Pandora's box, while he is paranoid about being overthrown (which is understandable, not only did he overthrow his father but in Greek mythology Cronos did the same thing to his father also at the behest of Gaia) he actually helps Kratos in the first game as the Gravedigger. While he's definetly not a good guy he wasn't really evil until after opening the box and I could see him feeling guilty for what he did to Kratos after the evils have left his body in 3.
In defense of there being swearing in God of War 2018 compared to the original trilogy and spin-offs, the Norse pantheon isn't as curt and stoic as the Greek pantheon, most notably the Spartans. Spartans speak in a very direct and honest way, with no additional fluff to what they want to say, so that's why Kratos doesn't swear in the OG trilogy outside of the using the word "ass" to possibly refer to a donkey.
I think why Hades helped Kratos in the first game is because in the first game he still didnt have the shit in Pandora's Box, so he understood the circumstances of what happened with Persephone and Atlas and all of GoW: CoO, but then, in GoW 2 bro got like sadness or vengence or smth like that and wanted to revenge Persephone, and his recently died brother and nephew.
19:18 I think Kratos is immortal as in that when he dies, he'll be transported into the limbo of the mythology he's currently in (ie Greece's underworld or Nordic Helheim) and he has the strength and willpower to just come back like he's done more than once before.
I just assumed kratos calling him boy was him not showing respect as a man yet. When he starts calling him by his name is when he “recognizes” him as his son. My head canon

There reason for no blood because Santa Monica was going for a more theatrical approach to their game rather than the typical blood and gore as most mature games have
I think there's 2 very good reasons there's no New Game Plus in GoW3: Onyx and Bramble. Hell, the "New Game Plus" speedrun (the glitched one) literally skips the entire game by breaking the chain at the start with the already obtained Nemean Cestus. If there were an actual legit NG+ speedrun, they'd likely have to figure out how gate you from skipping all that at the start. It'd be like playing a Metroidvania with every ability from the start.
I remember corey wasnt fired, in a video he explained how he said he wouldnt be able to play kratos in gow 2018, since they got his new actor not only being able to voice but mocap him perfectly since he is tall, muscly and a very good figure for new kratos, he said it wouldnt be the same if he only voice acted kratos over the new voice actor only mocaping
I dont think zeus actually betrayed all the titans for the sins of one, because as per real greek mythology, some titans like prometheus and helios sided with zeus during the titanomachy, and those Titans were not thrown in tartarus, the titans that were thrown into tartarus were the Titans who sided with cronos, as in god of war it seems that gaia and some other titans sided with cronos, I think gaia really said this just to manipulate kratos into her side
Maybe the reason why Kratos smiled because the man in the cage is replaced by an undead soldier but if would be creepier if it is the man who is used for sacrifice
I think I know why there's no new game plus in Gow3 In the beginning of the game, there's a sequence where you enter Gaia's heart. There's these branches that covers the crystal that shields her heart. Now if you have all the weapons, namely the nemean cestus and Apollo's bow, you would be able to destroy these branches and the crystal behind it, rendering the heart vulnerable. But we all know that this is only possible at the end of the game, so if we were to destroy Gaia's heart early in the game, we MIGHT skip immediately to Zeus's boss fight at the end (I never tried this though so who knows?) So yea, that's what I think
New theory (i dunno if it has been found before): Kratos rescued titans right before the blade of olympus nuke blast happened, so that he can trick zeus into thinking the blast was so powerful, it just vaporised them into nothing, except he left a few, those being atlas, cronos and a few other minor titans. So gaia never really suffered for the last 1000 years, neither did all the titans who took part in the Titanomachy 2 battle, they just simply traveled 1000 through time, why else do you think they never really physically appeared before god of war 3? And why do you think atlas and cronos never appeared taking part in Titanomachy 2 battle? That's because kratos did not take them during Titanomachy 1 battle, and they did indeed suffer for the last 1000 years, that's why they did physically appear in the previous games. So there are no 2 versions of gaia, or 2 versions of any titan that took part the 2nd battle, they simply vanished for 1000 years and got a rematch alongside kratos.
i think Kratos' immortality is like a lesser version of Zamasu's. He can't regenerate a ton in the middle of a fight like Zamasu and he would probably die if he was cut in half or something but Kratos does have decent regeneration abilities.
BEAR BEARING KING. Ragnarok? I have a review called 'the job of a sequel - god of war ragnarok' Search it up and it has my FULL thoughts about the game.
18:16 fun fact, the lyrics to the main theme of God Of War that describe Kratos as "Golden-helmed" and "proficient with the spear" are actually referring to this
36:31 I think that the blades of exile may have became the OG design also due to the magic from Greece being gone, or it could be like in GOW Ragnarok where they state weapons lose upgrades over time.
I remember back in the day my big brother finished GOW3 and said there's no new game plus, so when I stayed with my cousin who back then got a PS3 and I don't we started the game in God Mode since you can't really take advantage without having new game+, and boy did that take 2 days to finished finding way to snipe most of the crowed and then take the big ones 1vs1 just to pass through. But we did it and that final boss fight without any knowledge how to beat him just learning patterns over and over and LUCK we finally beat the game. So that's how I'm starting GOW4 right now on God mode no excuses. To me games do etch on my mind when it is this hard to beat.
I always thought the song when the Colossus was FOR the Colossus mostly because of the timing and the fact the language sounds like it's saying Colossus

There reason for no blood because Santa Monica was going for a more theatrical approach to their game rather than the typical blood and gore as most mature games have
Well made video. Loved the editing.
This is hands down the single Best GoW video I’ve ever seen.
Saving to watch it after work!
Really hope you enjoyed it and the part 2 of the iceberg!
I think there's 2 very good reasons there's no New Game Plus in GoW3:
Onyx and Bramble.
God of war 1-4: retiring gods permanently
God of war 5: Literally retiring a bird
respect for the zombies music in the background
I learned the whole God of War story from this ONE video
The "I am become death destroyer of worlds" reminds of lyrics from gristle licker by cattle decapitation. "I am become death destroyer of humans"
Shovel Knight is the game i would LOVE to see you play STYLISHLY.
51:58 Kratos will never kill a fellow spartan.
you earned a sub man, nice
Thanks dude!
Maybe the reason why Kratos smiled because the man in the cage is replaced by an undead soldier but if would be creepier if it is the man who is used for sacrifice
3:34 it was mentioned in Cory Barlog plays god of war 2
I think I know why there's no new game plus in Gow3
In the beginning of the game, there's a sequence where you enter Gaia's heart. There's these branches that covers the crystal that shields her heart. Now if you have all the weapons, namely the nemean cestus and Apollo's bow, you would be able to destroy these branches and the crystal behind it, rendering the heart vulnerable.
But we all know that this is only possible at the end of the game, so if we were to destroy Gaia's heart early in the game, we MIGHT skip immediately to Zeus's boss fight at the end (I never tried this though so who knows?)
So yea, that's what I think
It would be impossible cause you would have to gain those godly tools to get past the branches and heart
New theory (i dunno if it has been found before):
Kratos rescued titans right before the blade of olympus nuke blast happened, so that he can trick zeus into thinking the blast was so powerful, it just vaporised them into nothing, except he left a few, those being atlas, cronos and a few other minor titans.
That Eminem line had me weak lmao
kratos can be killed but the guy just comes out of hell every time.
Great video👍🏻
i think Kratos' immortality is like a lesser version of Zamasu's. He can't regenerate a ton in the middle of a fight like Zamasu and he would probably die if he was cut in half or something but Kratos does have decent regeneration abilities.
the way you say Barbarian lol
awesome video btw i subbed keep up the great work man what did you think of Ragnarok by the way
BEAR BEARING KING.
Ragnarok? I have a review called 'the job of a sequel - god of war ragnarok'
Search it up and it has my FULL thoughts about the game.
Zesty: alright the vid is done
Now time to torture myself more with time stamps
24:30 To be fair, the Greek Gods are seen as being both larger than mortal men and quite pretentious or "enlightened" In their mythos.
46:10 i literally lost my mind with this detail
Loved the Lex cameo
My theory is to why Kratos struggles to open a chest is because maybe he isn’t using any god power to open it
If shovel knight cameo is canon that means kratos still has the golden fleece hidden in his house.
0:49 bro I love mrtlexify amazing reference love that video so godamn much
18:16 fun fact, the lyrics to the main theme of God Of War that describe Kratos as "Golden-helmed" and "proficient with the spear" are actually referring to this
Did not expect that sudden Eminem reference lmao
You know zues had a thing for stripping Apollos powers and making him mortal. That's probably why he's not around, his in the middle of his punishment
36:31 I think that the blades of exile may have became the OG design also due to the magic from Greece being gone, or it could be like in GOW Ragnarok where they state weapons lose upgrades over time.
Subscribed due to referencing Relapse my god I haven’t thought about that Siamese twin verse in ages thanks
This was seriously an amazing Iceberg. ❤️❤️❤️
Thanks my dude!
Appolo had his godly powers taken away a couple of times in the myths maybe Zeus just forgot lmao
42:55 dindt knew you watched tankfish lmao
I always thought the song when the Colossus was FOR the Colossus mostly because of the timing and the fact the language sounds like it's saying Colossus
