    Doesn't look very useful. Also the rubber of the blades will be destroyed very quickly.

      Supreme Etnel "Doesn't" is different of "It's not useful" Also you have window defroster option on many cars and they are pretty good.

      @@1MrLuar I'm sure this car also have regular windows defrosters as well with the heated blades. Rubber breaks down faster from uv and ozone, not much from heat and cold. Otherwise all your engine rubber hoses wouldn't last as long as they do. This test didn't show how cold the air temp was. I'm sure that may affect the effectiveness too. But based on my experience with just windows defrosters alone on my cars, this is a lot faster to clear that windshield.

      Ford did have a "Instant Clear" Windshield in the late 80s, at least the Mercury Grand Marquis had it as an option.

    I don't have heated windshield but I do have mist nozzles to spray washing fluid on the windshield. The winter fluid melts the ice in most cases almost instantly :)

    People talk about heater windshield being better. It’s probably is an option on this car. Lincoln is Ford’s luxury brand after all and they invented it. However, I find this feature to be extremely useful when it rains during winter. The rain water would freeze on the wipers which makes them completely useless. This system ensures that you don’t have to stop to clean the wipers from ice.

      I’ve had a ford with heated windscreen. As good as it is to clear windscreen quick. It has all these little dots which when not cleaned blur your vision especially at nights it’s horrible.

      Tu Ru - right, they have, it was presented a couple years ago in Mercedes’ cabriolet, it was made for the open-roofed cars and they decided to produce it for all models then

    This technology is useful for highway wiping at high speeds, and the rubbers do last. This is a Bosch system already in use on Mercedes models since 2013

    This feature will be usefull on the road during snowy winter rides below 0°/32F so the snow and ice wont stick to the wiper but it definitely works much worse than heated windshield in the example shown above

    I see it being much more useful if it is a rain/ice mix while driving long distances but first thing on a frosted windshield, washer solvent works ten times faster and is a hell of a lot cheaper

    I use a CD to rub the ice on the windshield. If I manage to make a hole to see with one eye, I'm gone!

    How about the heated windshields? They have extra fine wires in comparison to rear windows. You can still see them but barely visible unless searching for them specifically. The pre-2014 Transit Connect had it, or at least it was an option.

    I had a new Lincoln in 2017. Only drove it on weekends because it was in the shop through the week. Something wrong with it all the time! I got rid of it before the warranty ran out. I’ll never have another!

    I invented microwave wipers. They emit a very low grade electromagnetic wavelength that all but instantly melts windscreen ice.

    I thought it would clear all the ice in one swipe. That would be satisfying and effective. This will wear out what I imagine are very expensive blades

      Some Guy Than you for the advice. Unfortunately newer cars don’t have easy access to raising the blades. They just hit the bonnet. You have to put them in servicing mode and then you can lift them from the windscreen.

      Some Guy I have a golf mk7. To lift the wipers they have to be put in servicing position. I don’t know why they’ve made a design like this. Perhaps for aerodynamics as the wipers are tucked behind the bonnet.

      @Some Guy warming up is a waste of gas... Only needs to "warm up" for about 30 seconds. Best way to get to operating temperature is by driving.

      This isn’t a defroster! This is the blades of the wipers actually heating the window up and melting the ice. That’s why the ice only melts where the blades are, not where the vents are like a standard defroster. Different purpose.

    But.... One little spray of de icer will get rid of it. That only costs about $4 every 2 months for 1 bottle. Not these $80 wiper's that kinda work.

    My fiesta 2007 has more effective system, heated windscreen, gets solid ice few mm thick in no time.
    And I choose when to turn on the wiper blades so they don't get micro damage.
    I wouldn't like to be negative but what have I missed in this preview? 🙁

    My 2010 VW Passat has heated nozzles for the washer fluid and that even works better than this for ice on the windshield.

    Rain x windshield fluid do that way quicker and subaru has a heated windshield and all cars have heater and defroster.

    Probably won’t work in a foot of snow. Up north we have to leave the wipers up during a snow storm so there don’t freeze and break.

    My 2015 Ford Transit Custom van has a heated screen which appears to be way more effective. Its work horse and rolls around building sites 🤷🏼‍♂️

    Try getting the blades to even move when their iced down and tge windshield is packed with snow. Theres no way around elbow grease.

    That’s a small amount of ice, that’s a most likely special wiper blade that costs double, it will take forever, and be quite loud

    I'm not impressed. Why not put heating coils in the windshield like many cars have in the rear windows but only at the corners top and bottom ??? Otherwise, I will use my spray deicer as i normally do on an icy morning. The extra expense of the heated wipers on the cars would just add to the cost and cars are way, way overpriced as it is. I would probably never use the heated wiper feature in Arizona, Palm Springs California, or Miami Beach Florida.

    Ford owns Lincoln so why don't ford use it's quickclear heated windshield, other vehicles use it but Ford had the patent for it and was the first manufacturer to use and come with the idea, Ford started using it in the mid 80s. I have a 2018 fiesta and this is such an amazing feature.

    They are one shot blades right? Heat up, do the job then replace :D Heated windshield + inner directed hot air solves this in 10-15 mins at least in Europe for until -10 celsius. I know I know in US it is -30...

    Or give yourself an extra 3 mins to get to work.
    Start the engine and scrape all windows clear of snow and ice,then start your journey. Simple👍

    Next time try to use windscreen heater or buy a Subaru :) It has also a wiper heating system located on windscreen. For me, visio blade is not effective.
