    Thank u for the tutorial! If I want to cook sambal petai with prawns, when do I add them in? Would I need to blanch the prawns first?

    • @spicenpans
      @spicenpans  5 років тому +2

      Hi Jaslyn, you can pan fry the prawns first before putting this dish together using the same oil. Once the dish is almost done, add the prawns and stir fry for a while. Happy cooking!

    Hi, any difference - dry chilli vs fresh chilli?
    How does this nut taste like? Thks.

    • @spicenpans
      @spicenpans  6 років тому +1

      Hihi. Dried chilli offers another layer of taste to your chilli paste, it is dried thus more intense and flavourful. Fresh red chilli on the other hand is just there for beef up the amount of sambal made in the end and chilli padi (if used) is to increase the level of spiciness. Hope this explains.

    • @spicenpans
      @spicenpans  6 років тому +1

      Hi Sure Win. Wow I like your nickname. So lucky! Hehe. Petai can be eaten raw so you don’t have to cook them for a long time. About 5-8 mins thereabouts is fine or until the dish comes nicely together. Feel free to ask me any questions.

      There is no substitute for the taste and smell of the peteh bean. It is used in the thai kitchen as well and I have seen canned peteh beans too. In Holland they are easy to get...lucky me😄
