In Order of Scene: Ornn is the Ram-like Character forging a Sword. He's the God of the Forge, one of Several Primal Gods in League of Legends (others are Aniva, think frozen pheonix ) and Volibear (thunder Bear). He's forging a Weapon. We don't know what or why, but we're glad to finally see him in a cinematic. In the Freljord (Frozen North), The Boar is named Bristles and is ridden by Sejuani, The warlike leader of a clan called the WinterClaw. Her people are starving and it is rumored that the Cauldron of Ornn can create food. So they are searching for it. The male Viking with the cool helmet and the amazing axe throw is Olaf. he's a Berserker. They are fighting against the Ursine(bear people). Ursine are Follower's of Volibear and Volibear had them take control of the Cauldron of Ornn because Volibear thinks Ornn is to soft on the mortal races. The Ursine are trying to keep Sejuani and her people from finding it. The Ursine channel the lightning of Volibear and do a good number on Sejuani's People. It's worth noting that Sejuani is a 'Frost Born' and one of few people able to hold 'True Ice' weapons, which are weapons' of permanent ice/frost that cause extreme freezing pain to non Frost Born who touch them. She uses a True Ice flail. Her Bola that turns the Ursine into ice is also True Ice and is her In Game Ultimate Ability. In the desert, the woman picking up the cloth is Taliyah(sp?). she's effectively an earth bender and is part of a tribe of displaced people in the Shuriman Desert, a land that was once ruled by ascendant god-kings (think Pharoahs) that went on a war rampage, tapped the void for death magic (evil purple stuff - might be where Arcane Shimmer comes from btw), and ended up corrupting the god kings and turning almost the entire continent into a vast desert. It used to be verdant farmland and jungle. The alien armored woman with Taliyah is Kai'sa., she became lost as a child and fell into a Void Cave and had to survive in the Void, the armor she wears is actually a living void organism that has formed a symbiotic bond with her and helped her survive the void (it can't be removed though). She's actually only just recently found a way out of the void and re-entered the world. She recently met Taliyah while attempting to clear out some caves of void creatures and decided to try and help her people safely navigate the desert to their homeland (they both know it's inhabited by some void desert creatures similar to the Tremors Worm movie). Taliyah and Kai'sa exchange a knowing look once tey see the big mama void spawn (Named RekSai) is comming. Taliyah knows they can't defeat it and the only thing to do is for Kai'sa to goad Reksai into chasing her back into the void, but that means Kai'sa will be trapped again. That explains the tender, worried look that they exchange to each other. Kai'sa sacrifices herself, attacking Reksai all out while falling back into the hole that leads to the void. Taliyah tries to fill in the hole behind her to stop other creatures from getting out. Kai'sa shows her determination as she falls, she has survived the void before, and knows she can do it again. She ensured Taliyah and her people would survive too. The Spartan Climbing the cliffs to a Magic Gate is Pantheon. He once was the Aspect of War (aspects are gods, typically of a thing or emotion (sun, moon, War, Trickery etc...). I don't know all his lore, but he lost his god-hood for some reason and vowed to slay all of the other aspects in retribution. One of the places the aspects interact with the world is through a gate to the aspects Realm on Mt. Targon (think greek Mt. Olympia), which is guarded by sun worshippers called the Solari. Pantheon at the Gate of the Aspects fights the Solari defending it and then faces of with Leona, the Heavily armored Female warrior, who is the Aspect of the Sun and Leader of the Solari. Then Pantheon gets hit by one of two things, which hasn;t been confirmed yet: A bolt from the Universal Dragon, Called Aurellian Sol, a literal star forging dragon the size of a nebula the creates and destroys stars and worlds. The Aspects long ago humiliated Aurelian Sol and tricked him into wearing a cursed crown that siphons his power away and keeps him weak. Thematically it looks like his ingame bolts. Or a bolt from the Aspect of Twilight, Zoe. She's mischievous and a trickster. In game she throws some very highly damaging and long ranged bolts. Interestingly, most of the other aspects Ignore her and she has befriended Aurellion Sol. Hope you enjoy the lore dump!
Pantheon is the fallen Aspect of the War. If an aspect disappears/ dies, the entirely meaning of what they represent will also disappear from the world. For example if the aspect of the moon dies without finding someone else to take her place, the moon and the meaning of the moon would stop to exist in this world. Pantheon took the body of Atreus, but when Pantheon died from Aatrox, Atreus survived. The celestial power within him was slain and the light of the constellation of the War switched off. Later on Atreus fought Aatrox with Pantheon's weapon and he was "reborn" as Pantheon and that's how the Aspect of War still exists. " As Darkin and blade fell, Atreus namesake star in the constellation of War reignited, becoming a man reborn. He made a new vow that day, to be the the shield that stands for all mortals; against Aspects, Ascendeds, Darkins, Demons, and all beings who wield power that can only seek to destroy. Forsaking his own name, he instead takes upon the mantle of the very god that nearly took his life away. He is Pantheon. " sorry for my English ^^
Pantheon's mortal name is Atreus and he was a Targonian warrior of questionable skill. He failed most of his training but he never gave up, he always stood up after failing because of his resilience and his iron will. He had a good friend named Pylas that always stood by his side, when their Tribe was attacked by barbarians they were nearly wiped out by them. In retribution they asked for the help of one of the Aspects ( which is a reasonable thing in the lore ) but Leona, the Aspect of the Sun denied them. Angered by that they decided to climb mount Targon where it is said that if you are worthy the Aspects bestow you with great powers. As it happens the Aspect of War, Pantheon, needed a host body and although he thought Atreus was unworthy of the power of War itself he still choose him because Pylas, Atreus best friend died during the ascent of Mount Targon. Now Atreus is possessed by Pantheon, the Aspect of War and has basically lost control of his own body and is just a passenger. Pantheon was forced to confront Aatrox, the World Ender who is the most powerful Darkin in runeterra ( Darkin are corrupted Ascendeds from Shurima that were driven mad by a war thousands of years ago against the Void and the ones that were too powerful to kill were trapped inside weapons ) when Aatrox attempted to climb mount Targon and kill all the Aspects. In the ensuing battle Aatrox defeated Pantheon and impaled Atreus body, thats where the huge scar on his chest comes from. Pantheons spirit leaves Atreus body and now being himself again he spits in Aatrox face in defiance, Aatrox thinks its funny and leaves Atreus to die a slow and painful death. Atreus, being who he is, gets up and manages to reach Pylas' widow who nurses him back to health. Now Atreus realises that the Gods do not understand mortals, that mortality is not a weakness but a drive that lets mortals stand up and fight against all odds because they must, its the only way of survival for the mortals, where Pantheon failed - Atreus lived and walked away, and in that lies strength the immortals will never understand. Later another barbarian incursion happens and Atreus realises that Aatrox is behind it from the very beginning, since Aatrox only purpose is to end all life on runeterra ( sounds edgy but he has a reason ) and war, conflict and strife is what he does best. He confronts Aatrox once more now without the Power of the Aspect of War and it's hopeless, he and his soldiers get beaten very quickly as they stand no chance against a Darkin, Aatrox laughs in his face for even trying to hurt him and in that moment the Spear and the Shield of Pantheon, who after the Aspects spirit left his body were an ordinary Spear and Shield, were infused with power, not of the God of War but the defiance and will of mortals and he hit Aatrox and wounded him, forcing Aatrox to retreat. In that moment the Star Atreus, which is Atreus namesake, was lit in the night sky and Atreus was reborn as a mortal with the powers of a God. He vowed that his shield and spear will protect the mortals from Darkin, Aspects, Demons, the Void and Ascendeds alike and would continue to wield the name Pantheon, Aspect of War from this day on. We don't know why Pantheon climbs Targon in the cinematic but a good guess is to either kill the Aspects or to confront them about their inaction and failure to protect the Targonian tribes around them and let beings like Aatrox roam around freely bringing terror, death and destruction for everyone and everything in his path. Also Ornn foging a weapon is a big deal because Ornn hasn't forged a weapon in centuries - he only forges them if they are needed.
@@DieGoetterdaemmerung aatrox is not really injured pantheon uses the chance that aatrox laughing and the remnant power of the celestial and cut aatrox ‘s arm that is holding the blade thus severing the connection between aatrox and his host.
For context: this is a very lore-heavy cinematic actually tying into a lot of stories and likely building up into a large fight with the Void (where many of the monster characters are from). The Ram head guy is the God of the Forge basically, his name is Ornn, and he’s the brother of the God of the Storm, Volibear. The polar bears that are fighting Sejuani (the woman on a boar) are called the Ursine, and they’re followers of Volibear. Sejuani is attempting to recover one of Ornn’s artifacts which will feed her people, and the Ursine are trying to prevent that. The stuff with Pantheon is a battle between a bunch of gods basically, where Pantheon is a man who used to be a god and still has a fraction of his power. The desert scene is also foreshadowing a big void event as the giant monster in the sands they fight is a void monster named Reksai. The woman with the weird suit is Kai’sa, who was actually trapped in the void for a while and that’s where she gets her suit/powers from. Hope that cleared things up just a bit or at least provided some helpful context :)
@@circusmonkey28 he's a viking that got a prophecy that his death will be boring, so now he tries to basically kill himself (but in a viking way) but he'll never die in battle (just an example, in 3:05 the iceberg almost kills olaf but breaks just as it's about to hit him).
little addon to Pantheon: You can see in the cinematic that at his first encounter he didnt pick up his Spear, because he doesnt want to kill/heavily harm the armored guards, because they are no gods. But when Leona crashed down from the sky, he finally picks up his weapon because now he is facing "his true enemy". Such an amazing level of detail
Context here! In this trailer we see many champions who are on their current story lines so even though it all looks like just meaningless fighting, it's all happening in the current lore!: -Sejuani and Olaf (The lady riding the pig and the viking guy) are on a quest to fight the Volibear, basically a god, and the polar bear people are cultists who worship him -Taliyah and Kai'sa (The earth bender and the girl in the weird skin suit) are somewhere in the desert exploring a lost city when they are attacked by creatures of the void -Pantheon (the spartan looking guy) is on a quest to fight the aspects (basically gods of this world) when he's stopped by Leona (the girl in the sun armor who happens to be an aspect) -Ornn (the large ram blacksmith) doesn't do much, but he's hinting at something very big to come.. :) Hopefully this helps explain everything going on! (Also there is technically no good or evil, just who you love and wish to root for haha)
More context Sejuani and Olaf are fighting the ursai to retrieve orn's cauldron , which is a magical cauldron whom eats from it won't be hungry for a year Fun fact Orn made this cauldron so that to make it easy for his followers but volibear though that he is making the people weak so he killed orn followers and stole the cauldron , the ursai are brutal barbarians that worship volibear and got corrupted by the volibear powers and became animalified , not just in appearance , but in thier behavior , eating corpse ,dead people literally animals , there physical appearance depends on thier imagination of volibear , so the grow fangs , teath and became bears 🐻 those are the normal ursai , there also the shamans of the ursai , the may develop corpse heads , became with more than one head , cuz as I said thier physical appearance depends on thier depiction of volibear Another fun fact , why is sejuani here , they were on hunting trip , they hunted a mammoth 🦣 but before it dies it yeets itself of the clif , so they were empty handed and winter is coming , so when a bilnd dude with full belly whom she knew before told her about orn's cauldron , she decided we gonna get it , if some dies less mouths to feed and if they got , they don't have to worry about the dieing from hunger in winter , and she convinced olaf to come with her , Olaf the Viking dude with 2 axes he is just picking up fights so that the prophecy won't come true , some shaman told him he would die in his bed not in a fight and that is the worst shameful death for a warrior so he just , I wanna go die in battle and sejuani told him we are gonna fight the ursai and you may die , he is like of course I am coming Oh it was too long
Taliah and Kaisa the two ladies in the desert they were returning from just helping some travelers crossing this area which is the nesting ground for big mommy Rexai the queen of the zersai , so on their journey helping those people they were ambushed by Rexai kids but they defeated Rexai kids and got the travelers to safety after that they got ambushed by Rexai kids again and now big mommy is coming by herself to fight them
When you see Arcane for the first time and you don't know League of Legends lore, you are like "Damn ! that is soooooo cool !". But when you dig a little more into Lol lore, then you understand how insignificant is the story of Jinx and Vi, even though it's a good story, it's still so much nothing compared to the stories about : the Demons, Shurima creating accidentaly the Darkins, the Watchers, the Blessed/Shadow Isles, Mount Targon, Ryze quest, and so much more !
maybe with the coming void event we finally learn more about the lost city Icathia. i mean every region got some story yet icathia has nothing but "it was destroyed by the void". would be interesting to see if we got more info about zilean, possibly jax?, kassadin and malzahar etc.
they had a moment in arcane where they showed heimer having flashbacks to the rune wars when seeing the hex core; now that could be him having bad memories of magic, or i like to think that perhaps i was foreshadowing that viktor is in the process of creating a world rune, which would definitely put pnz on the map as far as importance goes
@@auqanova no it’s just referencing the rune wars and how magic, whether inherently given or by artifacts, in the wrong hands can lead to catastrophic results. Viktor and Jayce cannot replicate or create a world rune but heimerdinger just sees it as a possible beginning for worse things to happen in the future is all. He doesn’t trust mortals to only use magic for the betterment of society.
The "bear" is part of a group of shamans who worship the Volibear. Sometimes the Volibear gives part of his power to his worshippers, but it's so great that from humans they turn into those Ursines, as they're called in the lore.
@@PsychoKilll42 Think it's because the power he grants people turns them into bears - volibears, a kind of imitation of his form. That would make them volibear, and make him "The Volibear." I think it's something along the lines of that but i might be wrong.
I am so happy you reacted to this video, being one of the ones who requested it. Thank you. There is alot of lore behind this cinematic that make it really hit for those who follow the lore. A huge one is the fact that Ornn is making a weapon. He swore to never make weapons after he refused to make a weapon for his brother Volibear, the god that is shown in the clouds when the Ursine(polar bear person) called on his lightning. Voli had his followers kill every follower of Ornn, when Ornn refused. He has only made tools and other utility items since then. The fact that he is forging a weapon means something big is about to happen.
To answer your question is it always this popular? Yes, I dont need to tell you that League is incredibly popular for its cinematics because... well just look. But also League is definitely riding a wave of Arcane fans who are just getting into the lore and the cinematics etc, that series did extremely well with non-league fans thankfully.
It also has the most players log in on a monthly basis out of any PC game, IIRC (but not most accounts/players/downloads/subscriptions total). I think it's only exceeded by Roblox and a few mobile games. So the LoL community is pretty active and I know I come back to it at least once a year.
There's a lot of different things to explain about the lore of this video lol, lemme try. The first guy appearing is Ornn, the demigod of Forge, appearing to be forging a sword after years and years of doing nothing. The girl on the big "boar" is Sejuani, and in the video we see her and her soldiers (including Olaf, the guy that shattered the massive ice block with his back lol) fighting the ursines, people that follows the way of The Voliber (appearing in the video only for a moment in the clouds, the other polar bears are followers of his cult), the demigod of war, brother of Ornn. Then we see Taliyah, inhabitant of Shurima (the desert region) and Kai'sa, that came from The Void. They brought the Xer'Sai (those smaller monsters) at the Faceless God (Xolaani is the name) statue, where apparently the void creatures lurk underground. Later we see a REALLY bigger creature: she is Rek'Sai, the queen of the Xer'Sai, that jumps out the tunnel, bringing down Kai'Sa with her, while Taliyah uses her power to bury the monsters underground, away from the lost city. Last but not least, the guy climbing the mountain. Long story short, Pantheon, known as Atreus, is a warrior that now is fighting the divine aspects, like Leona, the girl with the "flaming sword". Pantheon wanted to enter the Solari portal to go instantly to Mount Targon's top, while Leona, and the soldiers before her, tried to stop him. The fight is then stopped by a star falling down on Atreus (PROBABLY, but we don't know, that star is sent by the god Aurelion Sol). He then recalls on his powers to "launch himself" into the unknown sky, to probably go fight the aspects. This video in general is probably related to an incoming event of League, a void related event. I'm pretty sure i missed something, but if you wanna know more searh for the last video uploaded by Necrit, he is basically the lore god of league lmao. Also i'm sorry for the bad english, i hope you understood. I really like your reactions btw, have a nice day!
Just want to say that kaisa basicaly "sacrificed" her self for talyiah (the earth bender) because talyiah wanted to find a best place for her tribe to survive which they decided should be Xolan (that is the city where the statue of Xolanii is) imho I dont really understand the whole point of talyiah wanting to be in Xolan when kaisa literaly said (in the story which u can find on League universe) that its full of xersai (which we can clearly see)
To add in, given the purple glow at the bottom of the hole Kai'sa and Rek'sai are going down it looks like Kai'sa is luring Rek'sai back into the Void.
5:22 That is Ornn, The Fire Below the Mountain, The Mountainsmith, The Shaping Hand; he is essentially the one who created Freljord and he is the brother of Volibear, Anivia and a couple other Spirit Gods that hasn't been revealed yet. Ornn has crafted and built many of the structures and items scattered across Runeterra, mostly Freljord but you get the idea, notable creations are Braum's shield, The Howling Abyss and the bridge on it, a fork that he made which he didn't like and ended up being a legendary trident wielded by Mer-People called "Marai". What's interesting about Ornn's presence in the video is that Ornn has been dormant for over 8000 years, his dormancy led to Freljord ending up as a frigid land. Ornn hasn't made a weapon since the founding of Freljord, so him making a sword of all things either means he's making a weapon for himself or for other people. Also, the dude is the size of a mountain.
once every month or so I watch a marathon of your videos and I just want to say how much I appreciate the time and effort that you put into everything. I love your reactions because they seem so sincere, you're so thoughtful and you look interested in what you have in front of you, even if you don't know a thing, you really try to understand and watch every little detail. As a reader I had in mind buying your books but now I have no dobut that I will give them a try, because you just deserve the same support you give to other's passions. I get excited when you upload a video because I'm an animator myself and my heart warms when I see that there's people like you that enjoy this kind of content. From the bottom of my heart, thank you :)
That part where you wanted to cry, it is actually something of an appropriate response. The guy with the spear (Atraeus/Pantheon), the Flame Sword Lady (Leona, Aspect of the Sun), and the mooks Atraeus/Pantheon bodies are all Solarii/Rakkor. It is likely that Atraeus/Pantheon trained, or trained with, all of the mooks and he grew up as friends with Leona. Atraeus/Pantheon is fighting his own people, their religion, and whole way of life. Atraeus was an Aspect (imbued with the power of a Celestial being). Atraeus was imbued with the might of Pantheon, the Aspect of War. Unfortunately, Pantheon felt Atraeus was weak, so rather than just giving him the power of an Aspect he took over Atraeus' body as well. After years and years of being Pantheon's prisoner within his own body Atraeus regained himself when Pantheon was slain. Since regaining his mind and body Pantheon has sworn to free Runeterra (League's world) of the Aspects and all others whose power is so great they can only destroy. Which is why he's trying to the top of Mount Targon. To fight the Celestials face-to-face. If you are interested in League of Legends lore I highly recommend you check out Necrit's UA-cam channel. I'm busy with my MBA right now and I'm up-to-date on my lore thanks to him.
Yay! You were the first person I wanted to see react to this! I loved this cinematic and I love your reactions! Thanks for putting out so much good content!
@@Hopefull316 I have a very strong hunch that they're going to do a revamp of the League lore some time this year to make arcane canon and bring everything up to that standard. Because if I had to guess they're going to go the marvel route and make their universe into well.... a universe of shows and/or movies. As well as to have a consistent story for their upcoming mmo in a few years.
It's nice to see someone get blown away who isn't used to league lore. Like those of us who play the game of course love seeing our champs appear in cinematics, but oh MAN these are so well created that everyone can appreciate it.
The god died, The man lived. Ashe : prepare yourself you face an iceborn Aatrox : prepare yourself you face a darkin Zoe : prepare yourself you face the aspect of twilight Pantheon : Prepare yourself you face a man.
What's interesting about this cinematic in particular is that it directly follows up stories that were released last year and it was cool to see them continue those stories.
5:49 Thats Sejuani . She lives in a tundra, a place that is stupid cold .Long story short about her ,she is a ruthless leader and in this cinematic she and her people are trying to get to a relic that was made by a demi-god(Ornn , the guy forging a weapon) . Basically this item is something like a pot that if you drink from , you wont exeperience hunger for a year (hunger is common for that place , especially in the winter) .The bears she fought were followers of another demi-god (Volibear , a polar bear) .they protect the relic from anyone trying to get to it .The reason why they all resemble polar bears is because of their strong belief of the power of Volibear ,it turns their appearence into an image of him(they also fight by summoning his power and throw lightings at people). The reason why they are doing this ,is because they think that this relic makes people weak and if they want it they must fight for it.
A bit of context: 'The Call' cinematic is believed to be about the Void Invasion, Void is the eternal end of the whole Runeterra, and it is hinted on several events in League, such as Arcane :) The ram-looking guy in the intro, the one who was forging a sword, his name is Ornn, the Freljordian primal God of Forge and Fire, in this cinematic, he didn't do much besides that he is forging a sword, and apparently, there are speculations that Ornn might have a big role in the upcoming Void Invasion. The polar bear guys are called "Ursine", Ursines are just followers of The Volibear, the Freljordian primal God of Thunder, that looks like a polar bear (duh). They're once humans but their will to follow Volibear turned them into more primal and the God of Thunder used it to make them more wild and wield his powers. Also, Ornn and Volibear are brothers :D In the future, there might be more cinematics like this to push the narrative of this year's event, just like what they did with the Ruined King's story last year. It is all what I've got, I hope it helped :D
You want to cry in that scene because it's Pantheon's(Atreus') scene.
Atreus is the manliest man in league of legends. A god steals his body to fight that god's enemy after the god that possesses him dies he is free and proceeds to kill the enemy that killed the god that possesses him. After reading his lore I can't call myself a man, now I'm just a dude.
Hey, First time I get to a video of yours so soon. And yes, that's the right feeling when watching a LOL cinematic "Why do I feel like i wann cry?" haha
Some Lore: The Spartan (Pantheon) and Leona (girl with shield.you’ve seen her in other cinematics) fighting him are old friends and sparring partners who respect each other despite having to fight. They are also “Aspects of Targon.” There’s this incredibly high and brutal mountain called Targon that, if climbed successfully, will grant the climber the power of a god, but the god takes over their body. The woman riding the giant boar (Sejuani and Birstle respectively) is the leader of the Lokfar, a tribe in the Freljord. By her side was Olaf (the one with horns and the axe)
The polar bear guy is actually just a random follower of the bear god Volibear. You see him in the sky when the small bear guy roars. Volibear is the most primal of all the gods, he has that nostalgic theme about him, the idea that everything was better in the past, particularily when all the people in the Freljord (viking snow place) were all brutal warriors, because at this point most of them seek some sort of peace and prosperity. Volibear and his followers don't like that because it makes them weak, so he blesses his followers with primal transformations. Some can control the transformations and can turn into a bear or boar or wolf as they please, but those are the young ones. The elders tend to stay transformed for too long so they lose their humanity and become animalistic berserkers permanently. And not just normal animals, they're usually terrifying twisted forms of real animals, like a big grizzly bear with the skull of a deer or ox for a face. Some get relly twisted aswell since when they open their giant bear mouths you can actually see the human teeth screaming from the inside. They're very cool even though they all look like polarbear-men in this cinematic. Volibear looks like a bigger and beefier version of that so thats probably why they made his representatives look like that. The ram guy is another one of these gods, Ornn. Hes more of a kind careless grumpy gandpa god so he doesn't have any spooky followers.
If you don't want to read the lore here's a little explaination: This cinematic shows a couple of regions' problems and battles . The regions in question are Freljord, the icy region , Sherima , the desert like region , Targon the big sparkly mountain . The Freljordians are fighting Sindra's soldiers (I'm pretty sure they have a name but I don't remember ) Sondra is an ice witch that once made a deal with the watchers when she was blind . the watchers are the previous inhabitants of Runterra's universe , back when there was nothing . When stuff began existing the watchers were irritated by existence' light and sound so now they try their best to destroy the world , that's why they needed to get Sindra to free them from their realm . When Sindra realised that the watchers are evil she froze them in indestructible Ice. I forgot why the Freljordians are fighting her soldiers but I think it has to do something with the Iceborns . The Iceborns are people with Ice powers , they have Ice weapons and often have some sort of light blue I've on them . Anyways , Sherima . Sherima is also dealing with the watchers though there it is even worse because I'm pretty sure most of Sherima is destroyed by the void ,( The void is where the watchers are ) In the cinematic you can see Talia (I hope I spelled her name right) fighting alongside Kai'sa . Talia is the rockbender girl and Kai'sa is the void looking lady ( void looking being not an official term but it means that something looks like it's from the void , shadowy , a bit animalistic, fractal design and often very purple ) Kai'sa and Talia are fighting voidborns ( monsters that come from the void ) Targon . To be honest I don't know much about Targon . It's the biggest mountain and there reside the Lunary and the Solary . The Solary are the people of the sun and the Lunary are of the moon . They are in conflict because of religion.
@@HannaHsOverInvested I'd like to clarify with my own unrequested opinion on the matter. I'd say LoL interest is seasonal. Big spikes of interest at the start of the year, when their beginning of the new season hype cinematic comes out, and in November. When the finals of the world championship signal the end of the season and we get a couple of new songs and a cinematic, usually. Arcane release was tied into the worlds final last year and it's own hype has made the two spikes connect and created a wave from November to now and given the community a boost of people that didn't know LoL before Arcane and want to learn more.
If you want to learn more about the freljord(The snowy place) and especially the Ursine(polar bear people) I highly recommend the short story "Silence for the damned" which pictures the woman on the boar (Sejuani) and her mentor trying to win over the Ursine to their cause. It's a 10 minute read and gives some context to the different tribes motives.
I can't with you, I love you so much. It's so fun to watch you react to these and experience all the awesome work put in the cinematic. Thank you for being on UA-cam and keep up the good work
Ornn is the first character you see. He is a demigod of the forge, his brother is the bear in the sky. Sejuani is the girl riding on the back of the boar, the guy with the two axes is Olaf. Taliyah is the rock girl, Kai'sa is the girl that jumps into the hole with the cool purple rockets. Rek'sai is the big ass thing that crawls out of the hole. The dude with the spear is Pantheon. The woman that he fights is Leona.
Oh Hannah you just gave yourself some reading assignments. Riot released some new stories before this video, and it's a continuation of where those stories ended - with the exception of the goat man making a sword. Like I've said elsewhere, that's the most significant part here - that goat man is actually Ornn, God of the Forge in the Freljord (the frozen place) and brother to the Volibear, (the shadowed figure set in the clouds). After his followers were slaughtered, Ornn cloistered into his mountain home and swore never to forge another weapon. Thousands of years later, he's forging a sword.
@@HannaHsOverInvested Its hilarious how much lore they have. All locked up in short stories and comics that get released fairly often of their League of Legends Universe page. The best part is that these shortstories tend towards all being actually really good.
Desert area: Some of the deserts of Shurima are infested with void born creatures called the Zer'sai. The void is a dimension that existed before and outside of existence. It became aware of itself when things started existing and finds that incredibly painful. It wishes to destroy all existence so that it can return to oblivion. The void excels at corrupting and consuming. Kai'sa was a young shuriman girl who fell into a portal to the void and managed to survive there for probably a decade. Not only did she survive but made it out uncorrected due to bonding with a void symbiote. After finally escaping the void her mission is to destroy and remove the void influence from Runeterra. In trying to achieve this the Met Taliyah. A young stone weaver mage trying to lead her people to safety. She intended to lead her people over a particular bad peice of the desert as a shortcut. Kai'sa heavily warned against this but Taliyah didn't listen and so Kai'sa joined them since they were heading in the same direction. They managed to get across, but were attacked and many people were injured. Taliyah, realizing how bad the Zer'sai problem really is decides to work with Kai'sa and exterminate the nest.
Im gonna introduce you the champions appeared in this cinematic. The girl riding a boar is Sejuani and the horn helmet guy is Olaf and the guy who's forging a weapon is Ornn (Forge God). And the two girl is on the desert is Taliyah the earth bender and the violet suit girl is Kaisa and the creature who came out of the hole is Rek'sai. And the spartan guy is Pantheon and the girl came out of the sky is Leona.
Plenty of people provided context, but if you want to read, both the Ice story and Spartan's story have short stories associated with them, that are actually pretty good. You can find them of League's website under Sejuani and Pantheon respectively. The other, with Taliyah and Kaisa (Sand Story), they have no previous story setting it up but a teaser that a story will be releasing this year, so that is actually the set-up for the story we will soon get, which is a cool flip to the other two.
1. Desert part- Taliyah (stone mage) and Kai'sa(maybe you remember her from "Warriors" CGI). They both looking for the lost town somewhere in Sai Khaleek(name of the desert) to find a refuge to Talyiah's people. The monster is Rek'sai, creature of the Void, and Sai Khaleek is something like hunting grounds for her and her children. The story of Kai'sa and Taliyah is close to Caitlyn and Vi's story, maybe without shipping. 2. North part - woman on the boar is Sejuani. She is the brutal, unforgiving Iceborn warmother of the Winter's Claw , one of the most feared tribes of the Freljord. So she is definitely NOT good person. She and her warriors are looking for Orhn's cauldron that can allow her people to survive the winter. Half-bears are ursines, cruel tribe that worship to Volibear, strong and ruthless demigod. Volibear is also the brother of Orhn, the forger. Also there is another funny character - Olaf, the berserk(a man who'd broken an ice block with his back). It was foretold to him to peacefully die in his own bed. For vikings-like culture it is the most shameful death, so from that time he was trying to envolve every hard and hopeless battle to die in. Still alive XD. 3. Mountain part. The man is Atreus, born is Solari tribe. Once he become posessed by then Aspect of War itself, the Pantheon. Cast into the furthest corners of his own mind, Atreus endured only vague visions as the Aspect scoured the world for Darkin, living weapons created in a bygone age. Then Pantheon was defeated by one of Darkins and died, but Atreus survived.he vowed that day to stand against Aspects, Ascended, demons, and any who wield power so great, it can only destroy. That's why he fought agains guardians without weapon, trying not to kill them - because they're just humans.
@@jerrymiddlemiss7902 I can call her "bad"(according to her lore) only though vision of our culture, for sure. Even there are persons like Braum or Ashe in Freljord, the most people there should be strong and rough if they want to see next day.
@@Mike-x7x7i it's more nuanced than bad vs good. Sejuani almost single handedly raised her tribe from being one of the next to be picked off, to a strong and prosperous frejlordian take on noxus ideals. She's doing and has done what she's needed for her people to survive. You can't fault her for that. People are products of their environmental. To her people, she is the good guy.
@@jerrymiddlemiss7902 As i said, i can call her "bad" through vision of OUR modern culture. I think in 17th century she сould be called Sejuani the Great or smth like that. Anyway as you said "good" and "bad" are very subjective definitions depending on many circumstances. Lets just hope Riots will make more beautiful CGIs like this :)
I just love how someone that doesn't know about league's universe gives such a good and animated reaction like this. For lore fans like me it's just exhilarating and refreshing to see someone that excited to know more about this world we've been so invested for years now. Thanks for the reaction Hannah!
A lot of comments are doing a great job of explaining lore! I wanted to say this cinematic is also being released for the start of a new season- pro play starts next week and everyone else is starting their ranked climbs for this year. Ornn forging weapons in this context is like real-life players forging their skills for the upcoming year, and the champs fighting their enemies are like all the battle the players will be having. Riot is wonderful at using their cinematics and music and visuals to bring life & hype to their game.
Honestly, this is my favorite cinematic that they've come out with recently. It pulls together so much lore, a chilling soundtrack, and it looks like it's preparing for something very big in the future. They say that the next season in Arcane will involve the Void, and I have a feeling that whatever this event is going to be will also spill over into Arcane.
LOL is such a tricky game to get into. It's online and the other people were mean. I like offline games, personally. That way, the only mean jerk I need to put up with is me.
There is actually a mode where you can play by yourself, with bot controlled characters, if you want to learn the ropes of the game or you want to avoid toxic people. I use it sometimes to unwind.
If you want more context on who the characters are, there’s a bunch of short stories on the league of legends universe page that explain what’s happening in the cinematic. My favorite scene in this is the emotion that Taliyah (the stone manipulating one) has when she sees that Kai’sa is planning on sacrificing herself to draw away the large monster was just soooo good.
One interesting detail is how Taliyah picked up that cloth at the beginning. She comes from a tribe that highly prized the skill of weaving so when her geomancy powers manifested it took the form of her "weaving" with rock.
I really like that Pantheon (the 300 spartan looking guy) puts down his spear when he is fighting the regular soldiers. And only when Leona (the chick comming down the sky) comes down, does he pick up his spear as he notices a worthy opponent
All main characters that are in the game: Polar Bear: Volibear Ram/Sheep Lava guy: Ornn Earth Bender Girl: Taliyah Roman Knight Guy with Hot chest hair: Pantheon Woman on Pig Creature: Sejuani That one viking that threw an axe: Olaf The girl with blasters on her shoulders: Kai'sa Sun Knight Woman: Leona Big Monster From the ground: Rek'sai
"But her friend is down there"... yeah down there in the void but she is the daugther of the void. Another thing that happens exactly at the same time ( 4:58 ). One can almost hear Pantheon saying "I sought power on Targon's peak, only to find it within" The red horned goat-man is Ornn it's a spirit, similar to Volibear.
Blacksmith : Ornn (God, Ram) Girl riding a boar : Sejuani Viking : Olaf Bearman : Volibear (not really, but worshippers to volibear since he is a god, but he looks like them kinda) Girl on the left : Taliyah (moves the rocks you know) Girl on the right : Kai'Sa (everyone's league of legends girlfriend) Monster that comes out of the hole : Rek'Sai (yes it's a she)
Hey! always when i watch you reacting i feel like... i dont know ahahah i wanna cry like you. You just convey (im not sure if "convey" is the correct word im sorry) me a lot of emotions. Great video!!
What I like about this cinematic is the none verbal communication going on, specially between taliyah (the earth bender girl) and kai sa (the lady with a suit of the void). At the end is was very much a "we both know what have to be done " look between them and it dawns on taliyah's face, the worry over kai sa. Then there is atreus falling and gathering power from the aspect of war, he is very much a kratos in this world, believing the gods aren't gods at all and he is going to get them. Many parts are references to abilities on league of legends like sejuani's using her R skill and pantheon starfall Also....ornn...smithing menacingly...
As far as popularity, League of Legends is in the top 3 for current most popular game in the world. League of Legends has a Player base in the order of 100- 120 Million, with nearly 12 million concurrent players online at any given time. It's last world Tournament Final pulled in 74 million peak viewers. Arcane Only served to Heighten it's popularity. It's also the start of a Brand new ranked season, so It's in hype mode right now.
the one forging the weapon at the start and end was Ornn, the forge god. brother to the giant bear you saw in sky (voliebear) when the lightning struck. sadly we didnt get to see their sister Anivia. i would have loved to see that Demigod trio, but i guess it would be rather bs to actually put demigods vs normal ppl. good vid!
The girl in the snow and the dude with her with the horned helmet is Sejunai and Olaf. They're climbing that mountain to reach that lava dude forging weapons. He's Ornn, a god. The bears are the Ursine, followers of Volibear, an ancient lightning god that hates Ornn because he thinks Ornn is too soft on humans. So they're stopping her from reaching Ornn.
ok so here is what happened. i assume this is a cinematic of the lore that we are going to cover this year. there are there events going on: the frozen land is freljord, the desert is shurma and the mountain is targon. ill go over what is going on (I'm sure i will make some mistakes, correct me people but don't be rude). the first scene is ornn. he is the forge god and the brother of another god called volibear or valhir. (thunder god). in this story the woman riding the boar (sejuani) and the super buff berserker with axes (olaf) are going up against the god of thunder (volibear/valhir). tho the bear that they were fighting in this scene was not the valhir himself but rather a random ursaine warrior. but after the bear uses thunder you can see valhirs image in the clouds. the reason why they are going to war is not known to me as of yet (planning on reading it). the second one is the desert. the 2 girls are in the empire of shurima in a city known as icathia if I'm not wrong. way back in time people opened rifts to the void (long story in itself) and then the void creatures came to ruinterra. there is going to be a massive event around the void. but for now, the thing that matters is that kai sa (the girl that puts the weird mask on and goes in that whole) was once lost in the void. her suit acts like a second skin and gives her powers. i assume she recruited the help of the other girl (taliyah) who can bend earth. the void creatures coming from bellow are called the xer'sai. and the last one is their queen (rek'sai). i assume that kai'sa asked taliyah to close the gate after she went in. and the third one is played in targon. a mountain where gods and humans interact. those who go to the edge of the mountain are granted powers by aspects (gods). the badass spartan looking guy is atreus. his body was once taken over by the god of war (the pantheon). after fighting a darkin (a corrupted ascended god) atreus' body was mortally injured. however, the god pantheon in his body died but atreus the man survived. he hates the gods for bringing war to the realm of the mortals and so he brings the fight to the gods. tho I'm not sure what is happened in this scene really. the people he is fighting are the solar. people who warship the sun. and the girl that he ends up fighting is leona the aspect of the sun. the massive wound on atreus' chest is the one that he received from the darkin known as aatrox that wanteds kill every living thing in hope of being able to die too.
The two at the desert scene are Talia the girl that controls earth and Kai'Sa the Purple armored girl she fights the void. The creature that attacked them is the one league players call Rek SI she is a void monster so as you saw them look at each other it was Kai'sa letting Talia know she is about to go back into the void to prevent the creatures from destroying the land Talia wants to rebuild for the people. Also, the big Ram is Ornn he forges well as far as i can tell all the weapons, I think he stoped forging a long while back but him forging weapons tells us that a big war is prob about to happen because the goat-man just really wanted to be left alone to be in peace.
champions in order of appearance in the video 1. Ornn 2. Sejuani 3. Taliyah 4. Kaisa 5. Pantheon 6. Olaf the one with two axes 7. people who looks like volibear they worship him 8. Pantheon was fighting solari people 9. Leona the one who came from sky and clashed shields with pantheon 10. the big monster is called Rek sai a void creature and small ones are her breads actually u can access all characters stories and all the wars on riot site Idk if I'm allowed to share links here and btw the sculpture in the mountain with no face is one of the ascendant from shurima and there is story revealed the faceless god as people called this sculpture Locations of each scene: *Ornn is the Freljordian demi-god of forging and craftsmanship. He works in the solitude of a massive smithy, hammered out from the lava caverns beneath the volcano Hearth-Home. * sejuani scene and fights with volibear people in Freljord * the desert scene in Shurima there is kind theories that it takes place in a city called Nashramae * Pantheon at mount targon * the tunnel kaisa went in the end is a void tunnel and according to the lore some of these tunnels leads directly to the void realm which actually can be located in Icathia map.leagueoflegends.com/en_US this link for league of legends map I hope you read this, if you want any more details ofc you can search youtube and google XD but if u didn't link some of the events and stories I can help.
Let me tell a little story about pour girl who are falling in the end of cinematic. The only way Kai'sa found to protect Runterra form creatures of the Void is to fall right to it and give Taliyah chanche to close the breach. And it's pure tragedy, couse Kai'sa was 10 years old when her village failed to the Void. She survived alone, killed her first beast of the Void, but it created a symbiotic relationship between them and void creature became her second skin. The skin is itching and hurting her when it wants to hunt prey, but gives her power to kill those monsters pretty effective. But not this time. She spent so much time to get out, endured so much pain to survive and became strong enough. But here we go again T_T
I love this vs gods theme! Looks like my favourite Aurelion Sol is going to show up big this year :3 (polar bear - volibear, I love his character but he is not a nice bear hannah - hates peace and warm fires, life should be survival type god) Thanks for the video
The explaination of the cinematic: - the girl riding a swine is Sejuani, she is a leader of The Winter's Claw - a clan that lives in Freljord (the snowy tundra place) - she is on a mission to retrieve Ornn's Cauldron from the Ursine (the polar bear guy you saw) because it is said that whoever sips from that cauldron, will not have to eat for a year. The Ursine stole the cauldron because they worship Ornn's brother - volibear and they think that Ornn doesn't deserve the cauldron. (Also ornn is the guy forging the sword in the cinematic ! He is a god in Freljord) - the two girls fighting in the desert are Taliyah and Kai'sa. Taliyah has the power to control rocks while Kai'sa escaped a place called The Void and that's how she got her suit and her powers, she now hunts the void creatures that they were fighting in the cinematic. (The cinematic is based off an actually story you can read on League's page !) -And lastly, the guy in armor fighting on a mountain is Pantheon. His story is a bit complicated, but if you want I can explain it to you ! I know it's a lot to take in at once, but I hope you'll continue to expand your knowledge about this universe and have a blast while doing so !
For the context... The scene with the bear... those bears are the Ursines tribe... The Volibear's followers. The one's riding a boar is Sejuani Warmother (Chief) of the Winter's Claw tribe of the Freljord along side with Olaf the Guy with a barbarian Helmet... they are raiding the Ursines Tribe just to take the Ornn's coldron Dont know the spelling lmao... which is an artifact made by Ornn (the fiery person that has a ram horns at the end of the cinematic) the artifact has the ability to feed an entire tribe for a year thats its magic... The scene with the spear and shield... He is Atreaus the aspect of war once a human and now the aspect of war chose him as a worthy vessel to become the aspect of war. The aspect of war dies after the battle between Aatrox the world ender, Aatrox stab Pantheon ( the aspect of war) in the chest so badly his flesh cooked from the inside which represents his scar in the cinematic. The aspect (god) that chose him died and Atreaus lives and now hates all the aspects and want to kill them all for he thinks that the gods never care about humans and use them for their pety games... He is fighting Leona the Radiant Dawn, the aspect of the Sun... The 3rd one is Kai'sa and Taliyah im not sure about the story 🤔 and thats it hahahaha yeah im a nerd hahahaha
the ram guy making a weapon forbade himself from making weapons for hundreds of years, and here he is making a weapon. huge lore drop in this video damn
There are many polarbear dudes in the freljord scene =) They are Ursine, followers of the demigod Volibear. They were human once, but by following him, they started looking more and more like him
For the snowey part: The girl riding the boar is the leader of the group, she is leading her clan to find an ancient artifact that said to be able to make people full with just a sip from it The artifact is form the god of forging (the one forged a sword through out MV), the artifact is stolen by the Ursine - shaman followers of Volibear (a destructive god that stand for all thing wild) For the sandy part: The Earth bending girl Is Toph Beifong, she kinda scare of her power so she went oversea to learn how to control her Earth bending power (in this version, her teacher is an airbending samurai instead of Badgermoles tho), she came back to her hometown after hearing a tyrant resurrected, here she meet Kai'sa (since a little girl, she fell into the most dangerous evironment alone - The Void, where all things is consumed or corrupted into twisted monsters, there, she somehow killed a voidling and for some reason, got fused with it, yep, her whole suit is a living, breathing, starving monster, that's how she survived down there, unfortunately, we don't get to know how she get such a model figure and such fine hair) Kai'sa tries to help as much people as she can but since she connect to the void, most man fear her. Taliyah (I mean Toph) met Kai'sa and accept her, the two encounter a bunch of sand shark void monster. It more of Kai'sa saying goodbye to a new friend and return to her horrible home where she has to survive through countless dangerous element but have very very fine shampoo For the mountain part: We have Atreus, a man who was used as a vessal of the god of war (normally, to become a vessal of a god, one must climb a mountain that connect to celstial, Atreus and his friend climbed it but only Atreus survived, but the god think Atreus is NOT WORTHY, so the god of war take over his whole body instead of granting him the power), after the god "die", he got his concious back and now able to control the left over power of the said god, his whole thing is he don't want to be depended on the god, he wants an era of man, where people can control their own destiny, you can see that Atreus did not use his spear when fighting against men, only another god (god's vessal) appear did he hold the weapon, the rest is unclear, even to lore lover, we only know that after he fail and saw what remain of a war (or what remain of those who fail at climbing the mountain) he embrace the god power and become a space unicorn, soaring through the sky, probaly fly to where the gods is
This cinematic is the heaviest on lore up to date, but it'S subtle and heavily implied. 1) Ornn is forging weapons again after a very long time, this means something incredibly bad is coming. 2) Atreus is climbing Targon to get to the top and Leona is against him because she a corrupted demigod aspect asshole (my personal opinion where I agree with Atreus' storyline, that's all.) 3) Sejuani is trying to reach Ornn's cauldron, which is so far the least interesting part because it's only about survival in the Freljord, but it's bound to be important. Possibly she'll get one of the first new runeforged items. 4) KaiSa and Taliyah found RekSai's brood stirring harder under the desert, which means the Void is getting closer. 5) The falling stars must be related to Aurelion Sol, the only one able to effectively fight off the Void itself, but he should be chained by Zoe and (mostly) harmless. HOWEVER, the previous keeper of ASol was Pantheon/Atreus, so he's probably trying to get to the top of Targon to see wtf is wrong. 6) And finally, there are rumors that the void prophet Malzahar teased a new champion he called "The Empress" - All that means we're getting a ton of Void lore this season, which is awesome.
The guy with fire hands is Ornn, the demi-god of forging and fire.He rarely forge a thing, but now he's forging an Infinity Edge. That means something big is gonna happen
This cinematic actually depicts 3 short stories that you can find it the description of the video. There are channels that react to lol lore but if you are not into that I would love it if you read some stories in your own time and post just your review/thoughts
Polar bear dudes are worshippers of the Volibear, an ancient war god. They all started off as humans, but the Volibear's power changed them into new forms. The ones in the cinematics are very vanilla, though, there's a short story that describes more of them and they are all the way fucked up, such as a rotting amalgam of an elk and a bear with a child's head in its mouth. The Volibear himself also appears, with half of his face torn off, way too many eyes and hundreds of weapons piercing his back. Basically, he started off as your run of the mill giant bear, but what he looks like and what he does now is more akin to some Lovecraftian monstrosity.
Polarbear guy was a shaman channeling the powers of the Volibear; one of the 4 primal gods of the Freljord. The god is the silhouette you see in the sky. The smith goat you creating a weapon is Ornn, also one of the four gods. Volibear has some beef with him.
All of the main characters and their motivations tend to be grey. I believe this signifies what the game is like: Any character can be teamed up with another, fight any of the other characters, and there's no knowing who will come on top beforehand. At least that's how I interpret these. There's often war but it's not clear on who's right or wrong. Or indeed who wins.
The Stories are Vast and big, but i'll try to summarize the the main characters to look out for, for you. Big guy forging at the start/End of the video is called Ornn, somewhat a god/spirit of forging and fire. *Icey place people* *The Lady on the big pig* =Sejuanni (clan leader, just leading her people) *The Big Viking dude throwing the axe* = Olaf (their best warrior, he throw axe alot) *Polar Bear* = wasnt important since he was just a ursarai shaman representing Volibear and was basically channeling his power somewhat (Volibear is the god/spirit of Ice and storm) *the People fighting on the mountain* *spartan looking guy* =Pantheon, a guy who defeated the aspect/god of war and became the aspect/god himself but still believes that the power of man is more superior to the power of the other aspects/gods, hes a good guy that wants to stop the radical worship of these gods/aspects *lady with the shield fighting pantheon* = Leona, a woman from the sun worshipping faction, that are a bit radical and always hunt the poor moon worshipping people, she has a shield and armor which allows her to be somewhat a aspect of the sun. *People fighting in the desert* *Purple chick* = Kai'sa, she was born in a place called the Void where these monsters live and apparently a hole opened in the desert and some of them escaped here, she hunts them solo, a total loner occasionally helping others where they need it. *The Earthbender Chick* = Taliyah, she was born with powers to control the earth and freaked everyone around her with her power so she left her village to learn how to control her powers and then returned once she could only to find that her lands now had gods and monsters roaming them. *The Big monster (the Really Big one)* = Rek'sai, shes (yes its a she) is a void creature thats been hunting people in the desert, just eating and giving birth to mini versions of her, doing her own thing really, not that intellegent.
Ice area: The Freljord is a frozen Tundra inhabited by mostly Nomadic tribes. Sejuani (the woman on the boar) is the leader of one of the largest tribes "The Winters Claw" who survive by raiding and pillaging smaller tribes. They due to a verity of reasons failed to secure enough food for the winter. Food is always scarce in the Freljord but especially during the winter, and her people are starving and dying. A seer from a village they attacked told them about a magical item called "The Chalice of Ornn" which if drank from will remove your need to eat for one year. The Volibear (giant lightning bear in the clouds, not the lightning bear in the ground) is an ancient demigod of strength, lightning, and savagery. He believes the mortals if the Freljord are too weak and must be strengthened through blood and hardship. For this reason his Followers the Ursine (humans who have turned into polar bear kimeras through their worship of the volibear) stole the chalice of ornn and hid it in their village. This scene is the attack on the Ursine Village.
League videos will always be popular because they are just so dang good. Even for folks who don't play League or aren't even familiar with the lore. Arcane just gave a boost to what was already one of the most popular franchises on YT. I'm really hoping the next season of Arcane explores more of Runeterra shown in this and the many other cinematics and animations. The first 2 seasons were solely in Piltover/Zaun. But they did mention and reference the other places (Noxus for example, and obviously Bandle City since Heimer and many other Yordles are in Piltover/Zaun). Something to keep in mind, pretty much all the stuff you've seen in the various story based cinematics is happening at the same time as what happened through Arcane (past and present), just in different places around Runeterra.
I highly recommend watching Necrit's - The Lore Behind the Call Cinematic. It is a very lore heavy universe that spans multiple timelines across a pretty huge amount of different lands.
If you'd want to check it out, there's a lot of easily accessible lore that all of the cinematics slot really well into. Necrit is a really good youtuber for LoL lore and I personally would love to watch you react to his explanation of The Call lore. I love your analysis and how your perspective as a writer really informs your opinions.

In Order of Scene:
Ornn is the Ram-like Character forging a Sword.
Then Pantheon gets hit by one of two things, which hasn;t been confirmed yet:
A bolt from the Universal Dragon, Called Aurellian Sol, a literal star forging dragon the size of a nebula the creates and destroys stars and worlds.
sorry for my English ^^

Perfect explanation, really on point
Do we know anything about Olaf? Is there an update? Or is he still just axe throwing, beer chugging bro?
@@circusmonkey28 he's a viking that got a prophecy that his death will be boring, so now he tries to basically kill himself (but in a viking way) but he'll never die in battle (just an example, in 3:05 the iceberg almost kills olaf but breaks just as it's about to hit him).
Atreus doesn't use pantheon's power unless he needs it and the power is in the shield and the spear
little addon to Pantheon: You can see in the cinematic that at his first encounter he didnt pick up his Spear, because he doesnt want to kill/heavily harm the armored guards, because they are no gods. But when Leona crashed down from the sky, he finally picks up his weapon because now he is facing "his true enemy". Such an amazing level of detail
Context here!
In this trailer we see many champions who are on their current story lines so even though it all looks like just meaningless fighting, it's all happening in the current lore!:
-Sejuani and Olaf (The lady riding the pig and the viking guy) are on a quest to fight the Volibear, basically a god, and the polar bear people are cultists who worship him
-Taliyah and Kai'sa (The earth bender and the girl in the weird skin suit) are somewhere in the desert exploring a lost city when they are attacked by creatures of the void
-Pantheon (the spartan looking guy) is on a quest to fight the aspects (basically gods of this world) when he's stopped by Leona (the girl in the sun armor who happens to be an aspect)
-Ornn (the large ram blacksmith) doesn't do much, but he's hinting at something very big to come.. :)
Hopefully this helps explain everything going on! (Also there is technically no good or evil, just who you love and wish to root for haha)
don't forget that Ornn is the forge god, and brother to the Volibear
Malphite is there too, he's a rock🪨
@Kim Faes F*Kim The better void champion in this cinematic ^

Sejuani and Olaf are fighting the ursai to retrieve orn's cauldron , which is a magical cauldron whom eats from it won't be hungry for a year
Fun fact Orn made this cauldron so that to make it easy for his followers but volibear though that he is making the people weak so he killed orn followers and stole the cauldron , the ursai are brutal barbarians that worship volibear and got corrupted by the volibear powers and became animalified , not just in appearance , but in thier behavior , eating corpse ,dead people literally animals , there physical appearance depends on thier imagination of volibear , so the grow fangs , teath and became bears 🐻 those are the normal ursai , there also the shamans of the ursai , the may develop corpse heads , became with more than one head , cuz as I said thier physical appearance depends on thier depiction of volibear
Another fun fact , why is sejuani here , they were on hunting trip , they hunted a mammoth 🦣 but before it dies it yeets itself of the clif , so they were empty handed and winter is coming , so when a bilnd dude with full belly whom she knew before told her about orn's cauldron , she decided we gonna get it , if some dies less mouths to feed and if they got , they don't have to worry about the dieing from hunger in winter , and she convinced olaf to come with her , Olaf the Viking dude with 2 axes he is just picking up fights so that the prophecy won't come true , some shaman told him he would die in his bed not in a fight and that is the worst shameful death for a warrior so he just , I wanna go die in battle and sejuani told him we are gonna fight the ursai and you may die , he is like of course I am coming
Oh it was too long
Taliah and Kaisa the two ladies in the desert they were returning from just helping some travelers crossing this area which is the nesting ground for big mommy Rexai the queen of the zersai , so on their journey helping those people they were ambushed by Rexai kids but they defeated Rexai kids and got the travelers to safety after that they got ambushed by Rexai kids again and now big mommy is coming by herself to fight them
When you see Arcane for the first time and you don't know League of Legends lore, you are like "Damn ! that is soooooo cool !".

Fuck Harry potter... Or lord of the rings or wow... Runetera Is the best fantasy
they had a moment in arcane where they showed heimer having flashbacks to the rune wars when seeing the hex core; now that could be him having bad memories of magic, or i like to think that perhaps i was foreshadowing that viktor is in the process of creating a world rune, which would definitely put pnz on the map as far as importance goes
@@auqanova no it’s just referencing the rune wars and how magic, whether inherently given or by artifacts, in the wrong hands can lead to catastrophic results. The "bear" is part of a group of shamans who worship the Volibear.
Sometimes the Volibear gives part of his power to his worshippers, but it's so great that from humans they turn into those Ursines, as they're called in the lore.
Not just Volibear, THE Volibear.I can't remember why they refer to him as such, but there's a difference for some reason.
@@PsychoKilll42 yeah, gonna edit it
@@PsychoKilll42 Think it's because the power he grants people turns them into bears - volibears, a kind of imitation of his form.
Riot is doing such a good job with these cinematics, always really epic
To answer your question is it always this popular?
Yes, I dont need to tell you that League is incredibly popular for its cinematics because... well just look. But also League is definitely riding a wave of Arcane fans who are just getting into the lore and the cinematics etc, that series did extremely well with non-league fans thankfully.
It also has the most players log in on a monthly basis out of any PC game, IIRC (but not most accounts/players/downloads/subscriptions total). I think it's only exceeded by Roblox and a few mobile games. So the LoL community is pretty active and I know I come back to it at least once a year.
@@nekrataali Esport wise i think it does the best as well racking like over 100M+ total viewership something something (not concurrent)
the "eyes/looks only" communication though between Kai'sa and Taliyah.
it was like i was part of the conversation.

I figured that was Sol Using Voice of Light
This video dropped me a MANSCAPED add and It's so accurate
HAHAHAH
Just a friendly reminder that EVERYTHING in this cinematic is happening in the same world as the events in Arcane
Did they confirm Arcane is Cannon to leauge? O.O
ish
It might as well be canon at this point.
Ashe : prepare yourself you face an iceborn
Aatrox : prepare yourself you face a darkin
Zoe : prepare yourself you face the aspect of twilight
Pantheon : Prepare yourself you face a man.
What's interesting about this cinematic in particular is that it directly follows up stories that were released last year and it was cool to see them continue those stories.
hes not just a polarbear, he's Sir Volibear and he demands respect
A bit of context:
'The Call' cinematic is believed to be about the Void Invasion, Void is the eternal end of the whole Runeterra, and it is hinted on several events in League, such as Arcane :)
The ram-looking guy in the intro, the one who was forging a sword, his name is Ornn, the Freljordian primal God of Forge and Fire, in this cinematic, he didn't do much besides that he is forging a sword, and apparently, there are speculations that Ornn might have a big role in the upcoming Void Invasion.
Also, Ornn and Volibear are brothers :D
In the future, there might be more cinematics like this to push the narrative of this year's event, just like what they did with the Ruined King's story last year.
It is all what I've got, I hope it helped :D
What was hinted about Void invasion in Arcane?
Your face throughout the whole video is EVERYTHING!
This cinematic is a masterpiece
You want to cry in that scene because it's Pantheon's(Atreus') scene.
Atreus is the manliest man in league of legends. A god steals his body to fight that god's enemy after the god that possesses him dies he is free and proceeds to kill the enemy that killed the god that possesses him. After reading his lore I can't call myself a man, now I'm just a dude.
Hey, First time I get to a video of yours so soon. And yes, that's the right feeling when watching a LOL cinematic "Why do I feel like i wann cry?" haha
Yes! You reacted to this one. Let's go!
Some Lore:
The Spartan (Pantheon) and Leona (girl with shield.you’ve seen her in other cinematics) fighting him are old friends and sparring partners who respect each other despite having to fight.
Haha, saw this in the new season's livestream and immediately thought about you xD
If you don't want to read the lore here's a little explaination:
This cinematic shows a couple of regions' problems and battles .
The regions in question are Freljord, the icy region , Sherima , the desert like region , Targon the big sparkly mountain .
The Freljordians are fighting Sindra's soldiers (I'm pretty sure they have a name but I don't remember )
Sondra is an ice witch that once made a deal with the watchers when she was blind . the watchers are the previous inhabitants of Runterra's universe , back when there was nothing .
Sherima is also dealing with the watchers though there it is even worse because I'm pretty sure most of Sherima is destroyed by the void ,( The void is where the watchers are )
In the cinematic you can see Talia (I hope I spelled her name right) fighting alongside Kai'sa .
Talia is the rockbender girl and Kai'sa is the void looking lady ( void looking being not an official term but it means that something looks like it's from the void , shadowy , a bit animalistic, fractal design and often very purple )
Kai'sa and Talia are fighting voidborns ( monsters that come from the void )
Targon .
To be honest I don't know much about Targon .
It's the biggest mountain and there reside the Lunary and the Solary .
The Solary are the people of the sun and the Lunary are of the moon .
They are in conflict because of religion.
I am pretty sure that a lot of things are wrong here so feel free to correct me .
My goosebumptometer broke while watching this on the live
oh no league of legends is always popular and we're not just on a wave we are on THE "WAVE".
hahahah noted!
Basically the entire thing is about humanity vs gods; getting stronger, climbing to the top and never giving up
If you want to learn more about the freljord(The snowy place) and especially the Ursine(polar bear people) I highly recommend the short story "Silence for the damned" which pictures the woman on the boar (Sejuani) and her mentor trying to win over the Ursine to their cause. It's a 10 minute read and gives some context to the different tribes motives.
I can't with you, I love you so much. It's so fun to watch you react to these and experience all the awesome work put in the cinematic. Thank you for being on UA-cam and keep up the good work
I like how they flipped the "old ways of video games" and the guy wares basically only a cape while the woman he fights wears full body armor.
I play League and so I found these videos. I have now also read your first book, and I love it! So happy that I found it, and you!
Hannah looking at Ornn at the end: Who are youuu?
Me: OOOOORRRRRRNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN!
SO many people are like, read allllllll these things. hahahaha I mean... I can try?
@@HannaHsOverInvested Its hilarious how much lore they have. All locked up in short stories and comics that get released fairly often of their League of Legends Universe page.
The best part is that these shortstories tend towards all being actually really good.
Desert area:
Some of the deserts of Shurima are infested with void born creatures called the Zer'sai.
I guess if you take ashe as the protag sej might be a bad person
Have to say, you are so incredibly entertaining to watch. You reactions are so perfect and genuine. Keep up the great videos!
I just love how someone that doesn't know about league's universe gives such a good and animated reaction like this. For lore fans like me it's just exhilarating and refreshing to see someone that excited to know more about this world we've been so invested for years now. Thanks for the reaction Hannah!
You're most welcome!
Sweet! Checking out your books now. :)
If I hadn’t already subbed I would have subbed again for that Fern Gully poster alone.
HAHAHA
There is actually a mode where you can play by yourself, with bot controlled characters, if you want to learn the ropes of the game or you want to avoid toxic people. I use it sometimes to unwind.
love ur reactions of lol cinematics that s because i subscribe❤️🔥😉hannah
Thank you!!
Imagine that those events are taking place at the same time with Arcane. That's how huge is the world of Runeterra xD
I don't think it's the worthy opponent thing. I think he does not want to kill thew mortals, but is actually alright with killing an aspect
I WAAAS WAITIIING FOR THIS VIDEO
All main characters that are in the game:
Polar Bear: Volibear
Ram/Sheep Lava guy: Ornn
Earth Bender Girl: Taliyah
Roman Knight Guy with Hot chest hair: Pantheon
Woman on Pig Creature: Sejuani
That one viking that threw an axe: Olaf
The girl with blasters on her shoulders: Kai'sa
Sun Knight Woman: Leona
Big Monster From the ground: Rek'sai
The red blackamith guy is Ornn, in game u can craft items while in lane without going to buy them from base and can upgrade the team's main items
"But her friend is down there"... yeah down there in the void but she is the daugther of the void.
Another thing that happens exactly at the same time ( 4:58 ). One can almost hear Pantheon saying "I sought power on Targon's peak, only to find it within"
The red horned goat-man is Ornn it's a spirit, similar to Volibear.
Absolutely loved your reaction!
Thank you so much!
Blacksmith : Ornn (God, Ram)
Girl riding a boar : Sejuani
Viking : Olaf
Bearman : Volibear (not really, but worshippers to volibear since he is a god, but he looks like them kinda)
Girl on the left : Taliyah (moves the rocks you know)
Girl on the right : Kai'Sa (everyone's league of legends girlfriend)
Monster that comes out of the hole : Rek'Sai (yes it's a she)
Hey! always when i watch you reacting i feel like... i dont know ahahah i wanna cry like you. You just convey (im not sure if "convey" is the correct word im sorry) me a lot of emotions. Great video!!
That polarbear guy is just a minion the big polar bear in the sky is what matters
Many parts are references to abilities on league of legends like sejuani's using her R skill and pantheon starfall
Also....ornn...smithing menacingly...
I love your reactions, I watch them all
Thank you so much!
Also, the big Ram is Ornn he forges well as far as i can tell all the weapons, I think he stoped forging a long while back but him forging weapons tells us that a big war is prob about to happen because the goat-man just really wanted to be left alone to be in peace.
champions in order of appearance in the video
1. Ornn
2. Sejuani
3. Taliyah
4. Kaisa
5. Pantheon
6. Olaf the one with two axes
7. people who looks like volibear they worship him
8. Pantheon was fighting solari people
9. Leona the one who came from sky and clashed shields with pantheon
10. the big monster is called Rek sai a void creature and small ones are her breads
actually u can access all characters stories and all the wars on riot site Idk if I'm allowed to share links here
and btw the sculpture in the mountain with no face is one of the ascendant from shurima and there is story revealed the faceless god as people called this sculpture
Locations of each scene:
*Ornn is the Freljordian demi-god of forging and craftsmanship. He works in the solitude of a massive smithy, hammered out from the lava caverns beneath the volcano Hearth-Home.
* sejuani scene and fights with volibear people in Freljord
* the desert scene in Shurima there is kind theories that it takes place in a city called Nashramae
* Pantheon at mount targon
* the tunnel kaisa went in the end is a void tunnel and according to the lore some of these tunnels leads directly to the void realm which actually can be located in Icathia
map.leagueoflegends.com/en_US
this link for league of legends map I hope you read this, if you want any more details ofc you can search youtube and google XD
but if u didn't link some of the events and stories I can help.
Looks like my favourite Aurelion Sol is going to show up big this year :3
(polar bear - volibear, I love his character but he is not a nice bear hannah - hates peace and warm fires, life should be survival type god)
Thanks for the video
really cool yellow lighting in the background
The explaination of the cinematic:
- the girl riding a swine is Sejuani, she is a leader of The Winter's Claw - a clan that lives in Freljord (the snowy tundra place) - she is on a mission to retrieve Ornn's Cauldron from the Ursine (the polar bear guy you saw) because it is said that whoever sips from that cauldron, will not have to eat for a year. The Ursine stole the cauldron because they worship Ornn's brother - volibear and they think that Ornn doesn't deserve the cauldron. (Also ornn is the guy forging the sword in the cinematic ! He is a god in Freljord)
- the two girls fighting in the desert are Taliyah and Kai'sa. Taliyah has the power to control rocks while Kai'sa escaped a place called The Void and that's how she got her suit and her powers, she now hunts the void creatures that they were fighting in the cinematic. (The cinematic is based off an actually story you can read on League's page !)
-And lastly, the guy in armor fighting on a mountain is Pantheon.
They were human once, but by following him, they started looking more and more like him
For the snowey part:
The girl riding the boar is the leader of the group, she is leading her clan to find an ancient artifact that said to be able to make people full with just a sip from it
The artifact is form the god of forging (the one forged a sword through out MV), the artifact is stolen by the Ursine - shaman followers of Volibear (a destructive god that stand for all thing wild)
For the sandy part:
The Earth bending girl Is Toph Beifong, she kinda scare of her power so she went oversea to learn how to control her Earth bending power (in this version, her teacher is an airbending samurai instead of Badgermoles tho), she came back to her hometown after hearing a tyrant resurrected, here she meet Kai'sa (since a little girl, she fell into the most dangerous evironment alone - The Void, where all things is consumed or corrupted into twisted monsters, there, she somehow killed a voidling and for some reason, got fused with it, yep, her whole suit is a living, breathing, starving monster, that's how she survived down there, unfortunately, we don't get to know how she get such a model figure and such fine hair) Kai'sa tries to help as much people as she can but since she connect to the void, most man fear her. Taliyah (I mean Toph) met Kai'sa and accept her, the two encounter a bunch of sand shark void monster. It more of Kai'sa saying goodbye to a new friend and return to her horrible home where she has to survive through countless dangerous element but have very very fine shampoo
For the mountain part:
We have Atreus, a man who was used as a vessal of the god of war (normally, to become a vessal of a god, one must climb a mountain that connect to celstial, Atreus and his friend climbed it but only Atreus survived, but the god think Atreus is NOT WORTHY, so the god of war take over his whole body instead of granting him the power), after the god "die", he got his concious back and now able to control the left over power of the said god, his whole thing is he don't want to be depended on the god, he wants an era of man, where people can control their own destiny, you can see that Atreus did not use his spear when fighting against men, only another god (god's vessal) appear did he hold the weapon, the rest is unclear, even to lore lover, we only know that after he fail and saw what remain of a war (or what remain of those who fail at climbing the mountain) he embrace the god power and become a space unicorn, soaring through the sky, probaly fly to where the gods is
This cinematic is the heaviest on lore up to date, but it'S subtle and heavily implied.
4:36 her name is Kaisa. As a child she merged with a void creature to survive, where she falls back into void to stop the void creatures 😉
Ohhhhhhhh!
Why did i want to cry, it's a perfectly sound question lol
The Stories are Vast and big, but i'll try to summarize the the main characters to look out for, for you.
Big guy forging at the start/End of the video is called Ornn, somewhat a god/spirit of forging and fire.
*Icey place people*
*The Lady on the big pig* =Sejuanni (clan leader, just leading her people)
*The Big Viking dude throwing the axe* = Olaf (their best warrior, he throw axe alot)
*Polar Bear* = wasnt important since he was just a ursarai shaman representing Volibear and was basically channeling his power somewhat (Volibear is the god/spirit of Ice and storm)
*the People fighting on the mountain*
*spartan looking guy* =Pantheon, a guy who defeated the aspect/god of war and became the aspect/god himself but still believes that the power of man is more superior to the power of the other aspects/gods, hes a good guy that wants to stop the radical worship of these gods/aspects
*lady with the shield fighting pantheon* = Leona, a woman from the sun worshipping faction, that are a bit radical and always hunt the poor moon worshipping people, she has a shield and armor which allows her to be somewhat a aspect of the sun.
*People fighting in the desert*
*Purple chick* = Kai'sa, she was born in a place called the Void where these monsters live and apparently a hole opened in the desert and some of them escaped here, she hunts them solo, a total loner occasionally helping others where they need it.
Ice area:
The Freljord is a frozen Tundra inhabited by mostly Nomadic tribes.
Kai’sa always wanna sacrifice herself to protect her allies in mission, like Ezreal and Taliyah. A true hero.
