      Completely agree, the others sounded 'scooped' at the side of the 835, except for the Beta58, but that sounded 'masked', the e835 had it all and quite surprised me and I believe it's the cheapest! I'll be buying one for sure (even though I have too many mics already lol), but I know you have to be extremely careful with the Sennheisers because there are so many fakes about

    First off, I love your singing and playing man…..just beautiful! I’ve used the e935, the e945, the e965, beta 87, beta 58a, and the Telefunken M80 all live many times on stage in midsize venues all over the country, and so far the Telefunken is my favorite mic. There are so many factors though. I also have a relatively deep voice.

    "I am considering purchasing a microphone, and I came across this video. I found it very interesting and informative. Thanks to this video, I was able to narrow down my choices to the Senheiser E835, E945, and Telefunken M80. It was a very valuable and good video. Thank you very much! Apologies for any grammatical errors in my English. From Japan."

    Fantastic. If only the sE v7 had been available to you. My sE v7 is great but not with my Fishman Loudbox Artist. I am thinking of the Beta 58A or the e835.

      I did have the v7 shortly after. I recall it sounding boxy. I used the e835 for about 8 years prior with the loudbox. Good mic. Turn the mids way down no matter what mic you are using.

      @@paddy-o-707 It has a nice sound. It feels cheaper built. Signature isn’t too far off from the sennheisers, but it sounds a bit more compressed with about the same amount of detail. I also like that mic.

    I feel like the Telefunken M80 ends up being disadvantaged by it's ambiant noise rejection in this comparison, it would be really good into a live setting but might require slightly more effects to compensate. The guitar track with the M80 does sound thighter in this comparison... The e965 slays everything else imo though lol.

    • @tobiasjansen9117
      @tobiasjansen9117  11 місяців тому +3

      I do agree you can get all of these to sound the same with EQ and different effects levels. there is never really a fair comparison and can only control the parameters so much. The M80 was substantially heavier so it might have more going on under the hood.
      the two condenser mics are noticing clearer though and I would have to agree they are a clear step up. I did purchase the e935 even already owning the e965 cause it is an awesome mic in its own right.

    On the Sennheiser I'm not sure which one I like best I'm definitely between E835 and E935, although I have the E835, and it doesn't sound this nice. However, I have to acknowledge that the Beta 58a is my favorite, maybe because it is a industry standard, so my ears might be accosted to it. By far the Beta 58a is the best in my opinion, the 87 isn't too far away but I think I would still go for the Beta 58a.

    • @tobiasjansen9117

      I’ve owned the 835 for years. My top choice here was the 965 with a close second for the 935. I liked the beta 58a, but it sounded compressed to me.

  • @hodakinechannel
    @hodakinechannel Рік тому +2

    What do you like most about the e965 as oppose to the e945? I’ve also noticed you mention that your second favorite would be the e935, which is a cardioid pick up versus the supercardioid on the e965.
    Also, have you tried changing the polar pattern on the E965 from supercardioid to cardioid and compare the difference between those two ?

    • @tobiasjansen9117
      @tobiasjansen9117  Рік тому +3

      The main difference from the 965 and 935/945 is that it is a condenser. The 945 is cold and hollow in comparison. The 935 is warm like the 965 but lacks detail. Yes, I’ve switched the polar pattern on the 965, but I usually keep it on cardioid. Biggest difference is that the cardioid setting is more forgiving if your mouth isn’t in the exact spot it needs to be.

    Hello Tobias, can I get the TABs of Holy Mother from you? Your version moved me to tears. I love Clapton's original too, but I want to learn to play it acoustically.

    • @tobiasjansen9117
      @tobiasjansen9117  Рік тому

      Hi Herbert, thanks for the kind words. Really means a lot. I do not have tabs unfortunately but just fingerpick with standard chords.

      @@tobiasjansen9117 Hello Tobias, thank you for your quick reply. Standard fingerpicking? I am in the process of trying to learn it. Since I'm in my 70s and learning travispicking, I'm making some progress. I have been playing for 7 years, at first it was electric guitar also in an old sock band. Since Corona there is no more, since 3 years I play acoustic with my former guitar colleague. Now and then we perform in and for social events. And since half a year there are two women, percussion and vocals. Next week is our first gig with four of us. We are excited. Since it is not a concert in the conventional sense, but should contribute to a good atmosphere, , the focus of the audience is not directly on us, Our setlist includes well-known songs from rock, pop, beat, blues and folk from the 60s up. With fingerpicking I want to develop myself further and create songs on it that I love and that just don't sound really authentic with strumming.

    Fuck the microphones .....it was the best CR interpretation Ive ever heard.... The guy made me cry like an old Alabama retired whore !

  • @nikolaykovalenkosinger-1410

    I'm between beta 87a and e965 What's the main difference between them?
    Which one has more low end? and which is easier to sing high notes?
    The beta isn't hot enough seems to me, right?

    • @tobiasjansen9117
      @tobiasjansen9117  11 місяців тому +1

      Sorry for the late reply, but hopefully I am not too late to help. The 87a is noticeably thinner, but still well balanced. It also has a louder noise floor. They both cover the spectrum, and you will need to roll off the low end on both with a voice. The e695 has a built-in roll-off switch.
      The biggest point I want to emphasize is you can’t go wrong with either for live vocals. You get two polar patterns with the e965 and the roll-off which is nice, but I don’t switch them hardly ever. the 87a is more cost effective.
