A huge amount of respect was lost for Jeremy here. His laziness and selfishness has always been obvious throughout Peep Show but he hit a new low here. Mark has allowed him to live in his flat rent free for years without working, paid for all the stuff Jeremy stole from Johnson and forgave him for sleeping with Sophie and despite all of that Jeremy tries to take Mark's girlfriend away from him (despite knowing how unsuccessful Mark has been with women). Love is not a good enough excuse for that.
Abraham Hagos I really do not understand serious character analysis comments like this on Peep Show videos. Yes, we all know, that BOTH Jez and Mark are awful people, but they are comedy characters. The fact they are unrelentingly awful human beings, with an exasperating penchant for consistently making the most awkward and poor choices in life, is what makes it amusing in the first place. Can you imagine how boring this show would be if Jez was remorseful for his selfish and stupid antics and Mark was less of a dupe, and developed a backbone? It would be so dull that it would be classified as a drama, rather than a comedy.
Thomas W I'm not crying my eyes out over Jeremy's behaviour and I know they are comedy characters so their behavioural patterns and personalities have to be somewhat exaggerated and not in key with the vast majority of us in the real world. But I live in the real world so what else would I compare it to. I think you have overestimated how seriously I take the show - I think it's a funny show that's all and I just expressed a simple opinion I had about one of the characters
Jeremy's brief expression at 3:11 hilariously sums up his entire personality: a look of aggrieved self-righteousness, whilst lacking self-insight; however, at the same time experiencing a creeping feeling of an emotion that we know as guilt but he's unfamiliar with both its concept and implications so merely goes along with the whole thing and hopes for the best.
3:48 David's reaction to the "That's just something that scientists and people in toxic relationships say" shows that it was definitely written by him lol
It was at this point I had enough of Jez. At first I liked his loveable loser persona, but doing this to Mark, after he knew how he felt about Dobby, after the fact he's putting him up on his flat for free and basically supporting him financially just made him out to be a selfish shit. I know it's a comedy show but there's too many people like this in real life. Mark deserved a whole lot more respect from Jeremy.
@@jonahchickering4908 That episode is probably my least fav, mostly due to the Mark-Natalie stuff but Jez is so insufferable-someone give that guy a slap!
If Mark had just let Jeremy make an ass of himself Dobby would have just rejected Jeremy and he could have just gone off with her to propose. Mark is always undone by his paranoia, lack of trust, and need to control.
Agreed. What annoys me with this whole scenario is that Jez hasn't even told Dobby about his 'feelings' and there is no sign she's interested in him so the whole thing makes little sense.
The Dobby storyline is actually believable IMO. Of course Jez wants Mark’s girlfriend - he kissed Sophie when she was with Mark (and slept with her mum!) as well.
Personally I though it was a mistake. I'd have rather Dobby stayed for series 9 as I thought the April business was also forced and Mark+Dobby made for a cute couple.
Yeah April was a bit forced. It got a bit tired really, unfortunately so. Every new season turned just into two new female characters popping up for them to fall in love with. So much that they had to make Jez bi in S9 just to switch it up.
@@mark9294 I remember Mark describing April as 'the love of his life' in the finale which made me cringe-he knew Dobby and Sophie for years and yet April was in 5 episodes. I agree that the 'love triangle' storylines got a bit repetitive and dull.
I can't really stand the women on this show. Besides Olivia Colman. Mark and Jez should just admit they love each other and get married and stop chasing after stupid women.
Completely agree. Never believed this storyline. He tends to go for really good looking but ultimately shallow women. Dobby although attractive enough just wasnt his type at all.
Chiltern Railways always run on time Jeremy! Although when he says "This train is running on time. This is unprecidented" I just coculdn't stop laughing.
It's funny. If you're just listening to Peep Show and not watching, literally everything they say in their head is conceivably something they'd say out loud.
The reason the earlier seasons were better is they wouldn't always narrate the most awkward situations, you as a viewer just had to make it through on your own. Like when you hear Jez think all the way through the train scene, it takes away much more than it adds. Don't get me wrong, the narration is sometimes what makes the show.
To a degree. But only for really fundamental stuff, I’ve seen many happy couples for example where one is messy and the other isn’t, or where their hobbies are completely different, or one likes to socialise way more than the other. It’s only when it comes to a critical mass of really fundamental traits that it starts matter, otherwise it’s more just ‘humans attract’
This is in my opinion the moment when show went downhill, it's Rachel-Joey moment of the show - something important was missing after that. It's just too much.
Mark: 'Opposites attract!' Jez: 'No, not really. That's just something scientists snd people in horrible relationships say' Gotta say I'm inclined to agree with him.
