I went on a field trip to this science center once with my school once and when they were showing the speakers I freaked the hell out, especially when the guy said "HERE" in a really deep voice
Your New Best Friend damn I bet it does
"The subbass is located: H E R E !"
@@iNAZUMA_AiDAN_H You mean "【H】【E】【R】【E】"
bro I hated seeing the inside
SAME. I always had to wait outside until this demo was over 'cause that bass guy freaked me out. This video doesn't really convey how it vibrated the whole theater.
When he was describing the speakers 🔊 I would’ve got scared especially when he showed the subwoofer
THIS WAS MY CHILDHOOD OMG IM CRYING 😭😭😭
I remember this.
They had this at the MOSI science museum in Tampa, Florida. And my parents urged me to go into the Imax dome to see this.
Naturally, as a younger child (I'm 21 years old as I write this), I didn't know what to expect. Was I scared? Yes. But when the voice got DEEP? I think I experienced my first anxiety attack.
such a shame it closed down
It was a good experience
I remember this IMAX Preshow at the Marbles IMAX Theater (Raleigh, NC) which is a IMAX flat screen theater, which played the same preshow but the speakers are inside of the flatscreen and the giant IMAX speakers behind the theater, which is similar to AMC Theatres, Regal, Cinemark and other multiplex theatres which not played the preshow but only uses there policy trailers, feature presentations and finally the IMAX Countdown. Only museums, aquariums and other attractions have the IMAX Theater which plays the preshow and shows the speakers, such as IMAX flat screen, and the IMAX Dome (Omnimax).
i actually installed the speaker system here in Iowa. Took us 29 days!
I hope you will have to do it again :) (for reopening)
@@sahamation no it's already installed
@@therealhelmholtz really? Are they actually reopening the dome ? After the flood from last year I thought they had nt touched it
@@sahamation ohhhhh i thought you meant for coronavirus lol
What year was It when you installed the system?
This needs to be in a archive
I remember this particular sequence back when I watched a few movies at the IMAX dome at the Cradle of Aviation museum on Long Island.
Same.
I went to an omni-theater twice. I hated both times. I think it was a combination of megalophobia and microphobia. Plus, being that surrounded was VERY disorientating. At the same time, I've been to IMAX and I didn't mind that. So, being surrounded by the screen had to have messed with me somehow.
The sub base is located HERE!!!!!!
They don't do this at the one in Florida anymore D:
Im pretty sure they still do that. I havent been in a couple years though.
@@yako0006 then how would you know
I work at the Omnimax in St. Louis. This is WAYYYY better than what we have. It looks like it took a lot of work to put all this together.
and they have imax 70 mm projector ;)
I miss this intro before the Omnimax movies at SLSC! The new one is pretty cool, though.
They used to do this exact intro. I remember it from a school field trip in the 90s.
Our science center is just amazing.
I remember this it gave me so much anxiety idk y
I been to the 1st omnimax theater, and the first fear when I was little is the Speaker, so I went to the quiet room in 1996 or 1997. And 2004 I went to the Dome Theater twice and I was not scare at all, when he say "you're totally surrounded by these speakers.
Here(left)..........here(right)..........here (Upper left)...........here(on top).........here(Upper right).........and here(center). The subbase are located HEEERRREEE(Massive Roar)" before my favorite film playing at Imax Dome is "Straight Up: Helicopter in Action" to feel the noise of the sub and surrounding speakers of the famous rotorcraft typical helicopter. Up next, the mighty steam and diesel locomotives will rock the sub and surrounding speakers of "Train Time: Burlington Northern Santa Fe".
Miss this
I remember being here yearss ago
I would love to experience what those 8 custome 12's felt like
Yeah, my first time at the omnimax at carnegie science center was cool, though the speaker reveal was a bit unexpected, freaky, and I've been obsessed with movie theater speaker systems ever since.
This is just like the Vancouver Omnimax at Science World in the late 80s and 90s.
They got rid of the demonstration at Omnimax at Science World. When I saw the re-release of Dunkirk a few years ago they didn't have this intro video. Instead they simply turned on the lights behind the screen and the theatre usher gave us the stats for the sound system. This occurred when the theatre usher was giving us the instructions on where the exits the theatre were located.
I Came here because of Intro imax Columbia While there watching A INTRU 3D print of Shrek Forever After
Some people call this the IMAX planetarium
i went to the field trip last time
where can I download this in 1080p and imax sound?
+Christopher Thurman you would have to contact SCI for that!
+DJGOLFVR6 how do I contact sci?
+Christopher Thurman try their twitter, they often respond to the tweets.
Christopher Thurman Did it work?
@@ccentralchannel4492 Probably not :)
1:19- the speaker units house JBL speakers but built by a company (defunct) Sonic Associates. the excat speaker model of JBL, that one i don't know...yet. anyone know the voice of narration for this?
From what I read, each of the 6 satellite speakers consists of full set of JBL speakers from treble to bass.
1x 2404H Ultra High-Frequency (Tweeter)
1x 2445J Wide-Range
2x 2123H High Power Low Frequency (Midrange)
2x 2245H? Medium Efficiency Extended Bass (Woofer)
The sub bass is made up of 8x 2245Hs each in their own enclosure.
Now, this is for the older IMAX speaker systems. I don't have any clue on the newer systems.
Oh wtf i was there
What is it may I ask?
@@owenspeirs7189 just a giant screen
No I really hated this it always freaked me out for some reason
