I think the game had some fantastic ideas that should continue to be expanded upon, like the Umbral Lamp puzzles and the Magic system where you can assign spells to individual buttons, as well as the ranged system having its own “mana bar” in a sense rather than having individual bolts/throwables you’d have to farm for. A majority of the Legacy Dungeons are amazing too, with my favs being The Manse of Hallowed Brothers, Lower Calrath, and the Revelation Depths. The lore is surprisingly great too… which leads me to my absolute least favorite aspect of this game: the fact that certain lore entries on items are tied to your Radiance/Inferno stats. If the stat ain’t high enough, there’s no lore. I like LoTF’s lore. I feel its super underappreciated, much like the game itself, but hiding it behind stat requirements is a design choice I’ll never understand why they implemented it.
@@ChuckFinelyForever and there is absolutelly nothing wrong with that, ive enjoyied it a lot , honestly at this point the only things that drag down the game are some horrible boss fights (like the ones where you fight a higher level ad) and the crappy endings
The game had a lot of shortcomings, and a lot of very confusing decisions about gameplay elements like the locations of certain seedbeds or the excessive use of basic enemies as bosses, as well as its rough release at a high price. However, I personally see a lot of care and passion went into LoTF. I can call the game confusing or directionless, sure-but I cannot call this game a lazy cash grab. Like-one doesn’t make a GIANT interconnected world (with zero loading screens) with overwhelming detail put into every single location followed up by shortcuts to other locations, and ANOTHER WORLD LAYERED ON TOP OF IT, with the intent of ripping someone off of their money. Hexworks is clearly talented and passionate about making games. While passion can only get a game so far, they’re actively listening to the community about fixing issues like ganky enemy placements, Umbral being far too overwhelming, and adding other modifiers like a randomizer, boss rush, etc. I don’t speak for everyone, but while LoTF is clearly very flawed in some areas, and excels in a few others-I think the game had passion put into it. The devs were just way too ambitious with their initial idea and couldn’t decide on some others before the release date imo. I’m excitedly waiting on the sequel in 2026 to see how they improve. :) great video.
Fully agree! Imo people are a little too blinded by the rough launch. While I agree that's a bad thing, it's been updated into a genuinely good game. Can't wait for a sequel
@@jckfrost36I do think games should be complete, ESPECIALLY for 70 dollars. I can definitely understand why people would be so soured over such a launch, especially when launched so close to another, COMPLETE Souls game in the form of Lies of P. I just feel the fact the game wasn’t complete came from a place of the devs being too ambitious with what they wanted to do, rather than it being due to greed/laziness.
@TheReclaimers Oh i 100% agree with the first part of ur response there! Games launching incomplete and asking full price is baffling to me. And the second part of your response is what i was trying to say, thank u for putting it better than i did. It's clear that love went into this game, and that it's lack of polish at launch was due to lack of experience and resources rather than some AAA studio being stingy and greedy like ubisoft
i defintely agree , now its in a really good state and i hope they keep working on it , the lore of the game is really really good and very well tied up to the first game , the world design is another strong point , this is a very rare case where the devs actually made it into replicating the connected world design of dark souls 1 , even better than from soft did in some of their other games , but most boss fights are either very basic or annoying ad gank fights ,and the endings are total garbage , if they fixed these 2 the game would be great
@@cykablyat3680i def get that. Although some boss fights are MAJOR highlights for me like Lightreaper, Judge Cleric, Pieta, and Tancred/Reinhold. I just wish some lore wasn’t locked behind your Radiant/Inferno stats. That’s one of my least favorite aspects of the game honestly next to Adyr being a significantly more obnoxious Deacons of the Deep boss fight :((
Best time to be putting Lords of the Fallen in the spotlight. The game has come a long way and seemingly will still be updated through 2025 while the sequel is being made. I'm proud of CI Games for not giving up. Thats how you make a game! Don't cry about hate and threats, using it as an excuse to stop development. Keep on working to make your project the best it can be.
Late to this video yes but, the three strongest things this game had was it's Art style, World and Armor Designs. There are some really cool looking knight armor designs and some religious outfits are really cool to like the Pilgrim Garb. Also i love how you can make yourself look like a Ring Wraith/Nazgul from Lord of the Rings when you wear the Pilgrim Hood with the Dark Crusader armor
Just came back to LotF, since they nerfed NG+ boss hp on patch, they are not so spongey anymore. As long time FS games fan, IMO design of the bosses is amazing - well, with exception of Adyr and Crow, which are just bad. Still, Lightreaper, Elianne or Judge Cleric are high DS3 quality at least. Sadly you didn't show General Engstrom fight on a video, that's a amazing boss too!
Hi, thanks for your comment. I’m glad you like the boss designs; I enjoy some of them too. Unfortunately, I recorded this video at the game’s release. It was just sitting around, and I decided to upload it now. At the time, the developers hadn’t added General Engstrom as a boss yet. He was introduced later with patch v.1.1.414.
@timeriderz Great time to upload. The game has got some headlines recently by way of CI Games in the news. Congrats on the views btw. Thanks for showing the world more Lords of the Fallen.
The BIGGEST letdown for me in this game is the dodge mechanic. That alone caused me more death in this entire game than anything else. Fix that, this game dethrones so many janksouls games.
The first boss scares the heck outta me. I honestly didn't know what to expect. She's praying 🙏🏾 to a false god, bleedin n mess, next thing you know, she puts on her helmet ⛑️ and all hell brakes loose. Her attacks were so impressive, I halfway jumped off the couch. I haven't even got to the other bosses yet, I immediately started texting this conversation 😅😂🤣🫠🤭😎
do the weapons all still have the exact same movesets with no special weapon arts / unique attacks? if so im good. combat is so godamn boring. looking at the same slow ass animation over and over and over is not something i can get behind.
Reminds me of Castlevania lords of shadow. I'll see how it gets further developed later down the line. Its too...flat right now. Like everything is stiff and empty in between animations. Good concept though, I don't think there will be more Elden Ring after Nightfall, so that space will be looking for someone to fill it.
I've heard it's a very glitch game on console and the levels are a bit poorly done. Is that true from your experience playing it or is it worth it cause it does look cool!
Hey, I’ve platinumed the game not a long time ago and i can say that the game in its current state is super enjoyable, some players may not like some world design choices, but the builds, bosses, classes, gameplay and fashion are really great and it’s completely worth it giving a try.
Hi, thanks for your comment. This video was recorded at the game's release, so you might notice some lag... but the current state of the game is much better. As for whether it's worth playing... my answer is definitely yes! It’s certainly not on the level of Elden Ring, but it’s still a pretty good game.
@timeriderz Nice ill maybe give it a shot. It's almost impossible to compare against elden ring no matter what game. It's such a masterpiece, renewed my love for video games when starfield stabbed me in the heart 🤣
Hi, thanks for your comment. This video was recorded at the game’s release and sat around for a while, which is why it doesn’t showcase any builds. You’re absolutely right-I built my character as a spell caster. That’s why Radiance and Inferno stats are the highest. However, I adjusted my stats differently for each boss, taking into account their specific vulnerability to certain types of damage.
Sooo is this game worth playing now?? I played at release and didn’t finish it. Been looking for a game to play the past week maybe time to go back to this.
Oh, I missed bosses 3, 6, and 9. I'm at level 60-ish as Pyric Cultist and I'm stuck at Spurned Progeny - might be a level gap. I had to retrace those bosses. I kind of rushed it I think. Haha
Hi, thanks for your comment. I had a different level and build for each boss. This video was recorded at release, so some mechanics and weapons might have been nerfed since then... The key is that I built my setups around the bosses’ weaknesses. Every boss has a weakness to something. For the final boss, I was level 153.
Hi, thanks for your comment. The game is tough! Just as challenging as Elden Ring... What you’re seeing in the video is me after 200 hours of gameplay, where I’ve become experienced in the game... so it might seem easy to the viewer.
I believe that in a way this game is more difficult than Elden Ring, but only because that game allows you to use bleed to cheese through most bosses in that game. Lords doesn't offer a strategy/build like bleed that can just win the game for you.
ngl the game is easy af..... no way is it harder than elden ring endgame bosses or even in shadow of the erdtree...the boss mechanics look so simple and telegraphic. the windows to attack are huge as well....
To me, the biggest problem with this game was…it’s forgettable. The bosses are not memorable, because they have health issues, you can kill them too fast and if you don’t kill them fast, it’s becomes clear that each boss have very few move sets. They may as well be a normal enemy
