- In this video I will Be installing the Weather-Tech Headlamp Guards on my 2019 All-Star Chevrolet Silverado.
www.weathertec...
The purpose of these Lamp Guards is to protect the very expensive Headlamp Lens's that are now on most vehicles. They will protect the Headlamps, turn signal indicators, parking lights, and fog lamps from pitting from small stones or debris, being scratched by bushes or similar, and being stained from bird poop, and you know what that does to the paint.
The Lamp Guards are made of A High-Performance Polyurethane Film and has Ultraviolet Inhibitors to prevent yellowing and get this it also has a Self-Healing Technology to heal it-self if scratched, [I TESTED IT & IT WORKS], a few days after filming this video I tried to push out a small bubble and it marred the film with a white blemish. Over a four day period I noticed the blemish became smaller each day and then it was gone.
I had installed these Lamp Guards on my 2006 Silverado just after I purchased the it in 2012. Then in 2019 I had traded the 2006 Silverado truck with 100,000 miles in for the 2019 All-Star Silverado in this video, the headlamps of the 2006 were still crystal clear and no marks of any kind.
I'm not sure how much a new Headlight Assembly would cost for my new 2019 truck, but I'm sure it would be around $300.00. So With my previous experience with the use of this product, I"M thinking it's a no brainer and will be happy i installed them on my new truck.
Thanks for watching, Have a great day

Just in case if anyone's curious. My truck will be 2 years old in August and the lamp guard material is still crystal clear. I was also caught in a sandstorm on my way back from Palm Spring and no visible signs of damage
Paul, this is a sincere “thank you” because of your honest video and effort, I was confident and able to install my lamp guards! I followed the directions and paid attention to your example!!
Thanks for the compliment...Glad my video helped....
so, how did it go?
Paul, the installation went great. Took my time and followed your example. My lights are clear and without damage: thank you!!
your welcome.
Great video, Paul! I love the blooper real at the end. Too many content creators worry about everything being perfect. It shows just how human you are and down to earth. You convinced me, I'm ordering these LampGards.
Excellent product , my Tundra a installed when i bought it , been 5 year an the lamp guards really protect and still crystal clear even i park in the street all this time, the same apply for the window deflectors and other weathertech products !
I had a 2006 Silverado that i bought back in 2012 it had less than 15,000 miles and I had installed them on those headlamps as soon as I bought the truck and when I traded it in for my 2019 they were still clear.
Thanks Paul 👍🏾
Great video! Loved the bloopers at the end.
Good video
happy new year Paul, hope you have a best year
Thanks Pato Guardian you have a great New Year to.
Im thinking about getting these for my 2017 rav4 hybrid with 80k miles. I’m hoping they keep the headlights from yellowing over time.
I had to re-edit this I did not proofread it before I sent it. On my 2006 Silverado that I bought in 2012 I installed them the first year I bought the truck and when I traded it in for the 2019 they were still clear. My new truck just turned three with 36,000 miles and they are still perfectly clear and my truck is parked outside 24/7
I just got my Wednesday and going to put them on a 2019 tahoe premier.
Nice video bloopers hahaha! Greeting fm the Philippines.
Thanks. Happy New year
It is a 2009 Ford Flex and they were already discolored when I got the car.
There are some professional headlamp restorer techs out there. I have a buddy that works with a few dealerships around town, and he does great work. You should get a hold of a few dealerships in your are and see if they have one that they call in for this type of work.. they might be able to give you the person number
I just bought brand new headlights for my 07 Infiniti FX35 I see WeatherTech makes them for my car I just wonder how they will fit because they have a big round protruding part on the lens. They are anything but flat!
Once there warmed up slightly from the sun or a blow dryer they will form to the lens, just be sure to use plenty of the solution....and try to only apply the film once do not remove and replace more than a few times
@@HowtowithPaulHenderson I'm thinking with my lights the film would have to be made with some kind of vacuum machine to match the light. No way a flat piece of film will work on these headlights. I just wonder if they are made the same contour as the FX35 headlight? Look at an FX35 light and you'll see what I mean. Just wonder if they're worth a price tag?
@@kansasgardener5844 I just looked at photos the FX35 headlamps. Yes it should work, the film is very flexible. On my turn signals the film goes around the corner and on the side of it. This film will form to the contours of the headlamps. Just be sure the film warmed up, it will make it more flexible to form to the headlamps.
@@HowtowithPaulHenderson Ok thanks.
My headlamps are yellow was hoping not to have to spend 300. each side any help to clean
Maguire's sells a Headlamp restorer kit. I've never used it, so I can't say if it works. There are some videos floating around on UA-cam on how to get them to look better then they are now. Here is one of them
ChrisFix ua-cam.com/video/UEJbKLZ7RmM/v-deo.html
but it's a short term fix and lasts a short time. I've never had yellow headlamps so I never had to deal with that situation.
Curious, how old is your vehicle?. I've seen cars that looked like they where just 2 years old with yellowing headlamps.
My last truck was a 2006 Silverado I bought in 2012 and had installed the WeatherTech lamp guards within the first month I owned it. When I traded it in on 8-2019 for my new Silverado the headlamps where still clear. One things is I have never went to a car wash that uses those rotating brush rollers, those brushes or even the soft touch ones are in my opinion bad on the paint and plastic headlamps. Sorry wish I had the answer you wanted,
My brother had just bought some new headlamps for his Saturn Red Line car and I think he paid 120.00 each.
Is this the same as 3M protection film?
I"m not sure, It's a tad bit thicker then tape and a little plyable. If the 3M protection film is the same product that is used on hoods, I would have to say no.....
I gotta go through all that just to put these protectors on my headlights? Why can't you just spray to clean & just put the sticker on them simple as that. I pretty much have to use the entire bottle of spray to put guards on my headlights.
I used quite a bit more of the lubricant that would have been needed because it was hot out and it was taking me extra shots to get it done. it's not as simple as just spraying and sticking the protectors on the headlamps there's more to it than just that. And I wanted to show the complete installation process so people would know exactly what's involved with installing these headlamp protectors.
@@HowtowithPaulHenderson Thanks.
I have 2 cars. Is the 2 bottles of prep and slip solution enough for 2 cars?
I should be, with mine I have the two headlamps and 2 turn signals and the running daytimes. I had more then enough...and o sprayed extra..mYou can always make up your own if you ran out. but then again you might be better off just buying two one for each vehicle.
@@HowtowithPaulHenderson I just ordered 2 sets and one bottle set. I think it will be enough. I only have the headlights on each. Thanks
Did it come with 2 or 1?
Came with a total of 6 pieces 2 headlamps two driving lights and two turn signals but nothing for the fog lamps because my truck didn't come with fog lamps I ended up adding those afterwards
Will these lens protectors be ok to use in my truck with the hot Arizona sun???
I live in Riverside and on my 2006 Silverado that I bought used in 2012 I installed within the first month I owned it. We had some pretty hot weather over the years I owned it. Plus I've been on numerous trip to Vegas and Tahoe Palm Springs plus Sequoia park camping trips in the 7 years I owned her.. Plus the truck was parked outside the entire time of ownership. They were still clear at the time that I traded it for the 2019...I'd say yes.
Thank you. I’m going to order the lens protectors.
That is great. let me know how it turns out.
Absolutely will let you know.
My brother had the same type on his saturn sports car, yes they made one. I met him at Denny'sI saw them on his Saturn yesterday after you messaged me., His car is just over 13 years old. The headlamp guards do loose there clearness over time. He said it started a few years ago, so I guess at 11 years. The Lamp Guards that were on my previous Silverado were just over 7 years old, and still were clear ... Yesterday was hot , so I asked him if I could pull one of them back, so I did and the lens was clear underneath it, just had some glue residual that appears to still be soft because the lamps were very warm from the sun. I'm sure with mineral spirits, I think that is oil based so it should be safe to remove any glue left behind.
I've seen some new vehicles that after two years their factory lamp lenses without any protection were already in very bad shape. Not sure if that's caused from car washes that have the bristles. I figured if the lens covers last 10 years and then have to be replaced, I just wouldn't wait until they're really bad like my brother did. I actually ordered two sets when I did the install video. This way I figured if I messed up any pieces on the first set I could use some from the second set.but I got it on the first try so now I have a spare set to use in 10 years.
Do these yellow over time?
I had installed them on my 2006 Silverado that i had purchased in 2012. the truck had 15.000 miles on it the time of the install. I sold the truck in 2019 and had just over 102.000 miles and as of 9-2019 they were still clear, I had driven over 95.000 miles in the 7 years I owned the truck and there was no yellowing or pealing,
@@HowtowithPaulHenderson thank you for the quick reply! Awesome to hear! Ill be getting a set then!
@@GurpreetHira I'm sure you probably already bought these, but in case you were still on the fence, my friend installed these on 2 of his own cars. When I saw them, I thought he had new headlights, but they were just his old ones he restored then put these over. The one car sits outside 365 days a year, and they look crystal clear years later. Definitely sold me on the product
@@Aaphree thank you brother i appreciate it!
@@GurpreetHira No problem! I'm probably going to get some for mine
Those headlights didn’t make installation easy
no, they didn't but the passenger side went a bit faster. Almost a year old and no issues.
Please don't use f***K when describing installation of phone holder
My videos are marked for adults only...Phone holder, i don't recall talking about a phone holder. If it was in the bloopers maybe, but I know I didn't cuss on the main video....
