THANKS! for this very useful video "do it yourself" although cutting the film wasn't included. Really appreciated seeing this done without taping around the light as other videos have. How does the film stand up to "tunnel" car washes? It is my hope I can continue to use these a couple times per week and not have to worry about the film getting messed up! thanks
Good video, i purchased the same clear film but was a little confused, is it Vvivid or 3M? They are two different companies that make films .. Also i wasnt sure if you can wet apply this film but it looks like you were successfull
@@colouredbills4869 hey. Thanks for watching. I recommend using metrorestyling.com to buy the ppf. Buy a gloss clear from the products they have. Buying off amazon is a gamble at best. Vvivid is a vinyl not a ppf. Buy some HEXIS bodyfence x or another brand from the website above. Hope this helps.
I wouldn’t recommend driving it in the rain for 24 hours. It doesn’t seem to like water hitting the edges at highway speed until the adhesive has cured.
Nice video. What do you have on the end of your applicator? I have the same one but it looks like you have some type of tape on it? BTW, we used your other video as a guide to do my trunk bumper application and it went perfectly. Thanks again
Awesome! Thanks for the support, and glad it helped you. The squeegee just has a felt strip on it, but ideally you’d just want the flexible rubber ppf squeegee. The one I used was more for vinyl wrap.
I was thinking about ordering this stuff but going to use it for my carbon fiber front splitter but you said that it yellows after a while And you have to replace it?
I strongly recommend HEXIS bodyfence x. I’m a certified installer for them and it’s guaranteed for 10 years. It’s also 100% optically clear. The 3m isn’t.
I plan on doing this to my 2012 F150. I'm about to get some aftermarket headlights and I am trying to prevent UV damage to the lense. Especially with it being aftermarket, I feel like those tend to turn yellow and crack more than OEM I just wanted to see how hard it would be. It's pretty flat so it looks fairly simple
Up in price like everything else unfortunately. Yes, it is 3m, but my favorite film is HEXIS Bodyfence X if you can get your hands on that. It is 100% optically clear and guaranteed for life to not yellow.
No UV protection ?🤔 Besides shrinking bubbling, yellowing, fogging, Not to mention how difficult it would be fitting the film on oddly shaped headlights you see around these days, There are no short cuts to having headlight clarity, That's why I follow "The headlight restoration pro" The best way is the right way!!🤔🇬🇧👌
Consider it done. I only did that because it is the “safe” way to install. The way I normally install is by cutting the film on the paint after it has been installed. I am certified by HEXIS to install PPF so it’s nothing for me to do it that way, but a beginner would probably hesitate installing with that method.
Thank you for this video, the Rapid tac I'm definitely going to use for my headlight project.
There is two different types of 3M PPF. There is the Regular and the pro version you want the pro version. The difference is night and day
3M product link would be awesome after all the work you did....!
Sure thing I’ll post it in the description

They have round edge punches you can buy from craft store and just stamp out the corners of the film to make them round. It’s cheap.
It has never come off even with a power washer as long as you have the film tension right.
it liiks like yoy cut it so there isnt much overlapping. is overlapping the edge ok?

@@newfinishautospa what about Vvivid Barricade protection film? Its a wet apply film. I kinda want to stick with amazon for speed of delivery
Can you or how would you remove it?
Just warm it with a hair dryer or heat gun and it will lift off
Can you drive after or wait couple of hiurs
I wouldn’t recommend driving it in the rain for 24 hours. It doesn’t seem to like water hitting the edges at highway speed until the adhesive has cured.
can you put a yintef film on top of a clear film?

Do you have the video of restoring piano black trim ?
I was thinking about ordering this stuff but going to use it for my carbon fiber front splitter but you said that it yellows after a while And you have to replace it?
3m and other brands actually have a yellowish tint when the film is new. HEXIS is the only brand I know of that is 100% optically clear.
@@newfinishautospa Cool thanks bro
For a wider headlight, my are almost 8 in where can I find film that fit?
why is there gap in the bottom corner?
How much UV protection does this film offer?
I strongly recommend HEXIS bodyfence x. I’m a certified installer for them and it’s guaranteed for 10 years. It’s also 100% optically clear. The 3m isn’t.
Is there any specific film thickness you recommend for headlights?
I recommend going with a reputable brand like HEXIS or 3m. Stay away from the cheap Chinese brands.

No UV protection with this film.
I only use HEXIS Bodyfence now.
@@newfinishautospa That offer UV protection?
Absolutely it does. I’ve since become an installer for HEXIS bodyfence. It’s a far superior product and is warrantied by them for 10 years.
@@newfinishautospa Can you buy the film for self installation? If so where? If not, where do I find a list of installers?
why just a year ? ppf can't hold 3 to 10 year ?
3m isn’t my favorite. I’m a HEXIS bodyfence certified installer now and their film is top notch. You can get it from metrorestyling.com
How come looks so easy? 😮
Dude put links to the stuff you use so we can buy it and you get a kickback!
I really need to…thanks for the tip. Any true paint protection film will work tho. Metrorestyling.com is an amazing website. Check it out.
The film is now $35 a roll :(
How much before? Is this real 3M ?

Yes it provides UV protection. I suggest HEXIS bodyfence though. It’s the best film I’ve ever worked with. I’ll post another video tonight.
PPF has a UV top coat and it will outlast the headlight pros spray can stuff that only lasts 1 to 2 yrs
I would think that the hardest part is to cut the film to size. It would be cool if you had a video of doing that without the template.
Consider it done. I only did that because it is the “safe” way to install. The way I normally install is by cutting the film on the paint after it has been installed. I am certified by HEXIS to install PPF so it’s nothing for me to do it that way, but a beginner would probably hesitate installing with that method.
Use any plastic bag or just paper as a template.
It’s well worth it though. Nothing makes a car look old like yellowed and chipped headlight lenses.
You meant the most important thing. UV PROTECTION, lol. You should be paying me.
Haha maybe when I actually get paid for this
No UV protection is claimed by 3M for this product.
