- In todays video 2nd cut silage is down on the ground, its a race against the weather as we see if we can beat the rain and get all safely into the pit. The MF 6499 and Samasz butterfly mowers are out in full force, knocking meadows with ease. We're 20 acres down on 1st cut as the calves and bulls needed more grazing ground but crops seem heavier. The red clover performs well and the big field is heavier than first cut. A meadow we had lined up for hay thats gone a bit too strong is also heading for the pit.

Great video, quite a mix of crops making up the 2nd cut… should be interesting munching for the cattle during the winter. Great comfort with those mowers and the ‘99 with AutoSteer when it’s time to knock a few fields. Having the option of grouping, laying flat or narrow swarths helps a lot with wilting in the variable weather. Keep up the good work.

Was over in Ireland just over a week ago at Moorepark Teagasc open day, attend every 2 years find it a fantastic source of inspiration and information.
Direct drilled clover into a few of our grazing lays this spring and starting to look promising after a particularly dry June.
100 acres of 2nd waiting to be done here.
Very little waste on the pit.
Side sheets a no brainier to help eliminate that corner waste.👍

the optimal time to cut the red clover is just before the flower comes out.That way you get the highest protein

Hi Phil, what's the deal with missing mudguard on front left ?
Do u not think it be best when mowing the headland of any grass field is to put down the right flap of the butterfly mower so it be easy for the windrower to bring the grass easier together so it wouldn’t as difficult getting the grass near the hedges?
