ABOUT ME
I’m 31 years old and I’m a sheep farmer from Ayrshire in South West Scotland, which is why I have such a strong accent! I was born and raised on a sheep farm watching my dad who was the shepherd.
At 18 I went away from farming to work in the city (something I still do) and at 23 (2013) I decided I wanted to do something for some extra money so I went on a sheep shearing course. The hardest thing I’ll ever do was learning to shear sheep. [shudders thinking about it]
I shore whilst on my holidays from work for 2 years and then in 2015 my dad died so I decided to get my own sheep so I could continue working with sheep as it was something I loved doing. From there it escalated quickly from my first 4 sheep in my mum’s garden to now running around 600 breeding ewes.
I shore over 15,000 sheep this season in UK and I also travel to Norway for shearing in March and September. (Covid messed it up this year)
A few years ago I bought myself a sheep pregnancy scanner and have been building up my run since then.
I watched a few farm vlogs on UA-cam and decided I could have a go and now here we are!
Thanks for watching my videos and please subscribe if you want to see more in future.
Keep showing all aspects of sheep farming ,to give everyone an idea what goes on in the farming year for a sheep farmer..
Thanks Gary! I’ll try 👍
I love sheep sales and seeing all kinds of sheep! But Cammy we all would love a lil pic of you & lizzy's wee lil lamb too! 👶
'For legal reasons, i wont show you the tires'
CAMMY, you're supposed to be a good influence! 😂
Haha just joking officer I swear
So interesting Cammy , love your videos- learning so much about the world of sheep farming. 🐑🐑
Thanks! And great name! U have same name as Lizzy. Even the Thomson without a ‘P’ 😁👍
What a beautiful 4 sheep you picked up. They are adorable. Nice addition to your flock. Loved watching the sale. Thanks for taking us along. ❤️
That was awesome and I recognized their stomachs being trimmed before you told me! I’m actually learning! They were beautiful for sure! Thank you!
Love your new golden sheep! Can't wait to see who you pick for your crew of argonauts.
Haha... a good few vlogs coming where I spend all my money! =D
I love sheep sales too, its always exciting even if you are only there to watch and take down prices. I would love to see more sheep sale videos please cammy
Thank you for this. It was very interesting to see the process, especially how sellers prepare the sheep to be best presented. I have to admit, I had been wondering what the yellow fleeces were all about.
An auction is always exciting so do take us along again!👍😁
Funny to see Lizzy pregnant for the first time.
The young (dogs and people) learn from the older, but it's more playful. And 🐑 are equally beautiful as the dogs.
Interesting to see the market. I think I it was 1986 the last time I was watching the market in the city where I was in school. The market was on my way to school.
Cammie, what an interesting video - I would definitely love to see more.
Cammy, love your videos, so fun and so much information!
Cammy, I’m enjoying all your various posts. Thanks and God bless.
I've come from the future of July 2022. I'm enjoying myself by rewatchiing some of Sales.
thats a brillint video cammy i love the mart full of top class sheep , the mule lambs are top class wish i were in your shoes at the mart , i would buy about 50 mules lambs keep it up cammy from ireland.
Yeah please want to see more , thank you so much 🙏 ❤
That was fun. I hope there will be more.
Love your videos Cammy, thank you for explaining so much about the sheep and all the work you put into them as well as the market end. I find your videos so interesting and educational. I had no idea how many different kinds of sheep there are. Please tell Lizzie, she is my hero. That girl worked hard all the way to delivery, what an incredible woman she is as well she works on the farm with the sheep and also shears? Holy smokes you are one lucky man!
You are spot on Sharon! First time I saw her chase a sheep through three fields and then catch it I knew she was the one!
Wow that is fast paced, you could buy a bunch of sheep before you knew what hit you. Looks like the best of the best, cream of the crop. Were those Texels you bought? I am learning from you and Sandi Brock.
Love actions. You have such a broad base of information you share, always enjoyable. Hope the baby and Lizzy are doing well. Soon you'll have a little Helen at autions, it will happen faster than you think.
Another great video, I love the banter between the farmers
Always good to see good prices for well bred and reared livestock.
That was brilliant Cammy! I didn’t realize how fascinating it is to be a Shepard. Beautiful new additions to the flock, can’t wait to see them with your other sheep. Would love to learn how you decide when and whom you breed them with.
Always want to see more!
Very interesting. Thanks for taking us along
The buyers are the judges in NZ, best stock, tops the sale,
Thank you for sharing your day at the market. I am finding that I really enjoy the videos of market days a lot! Keep them coming.
This was very interesting. There is so much to learn and I appreciate you sharing all these various aspects of sheep life. Nice looking new ladies for the flock. Take care.
Thanks Donna!
Great video, fascinating to see the different breeds and processes of the sales
I found additional information by reading the comment replies, thank you for all the new knowledge. God bless you and your family.
Cammy that was very interesting! Man you are hitting them out of the ball park on content (hope that translates, means tremendous goal--lol). That sale barn was amazing! It looked quite new! How long has it been there? So is there a schedule posted for all the different types of sales? Is there a best time of the month or year to sell/buy? Great job and very educational and entertaining as well!
Yeah there has been loads of sales recently. I've got a fair few vlogs to come! We always buy breeding sheep this time of year as it's when they look their best and they will get settled at new farm in time for tupping in November
Love the sale vids would be great if you could do more of them
Excellent subject and content. Very clear explanation on how the process works and the details involved.
Some nice prices on there, i bought a few texels a couple off week's ago for 150
Great video and informative. Thank you.
Cammy, down here in NewZealand we speak "real"English, and my wife keeps asking me what you are saying. My reply is generally "buggered if I know" They dont speak English up there, but it is interesting to watch. We both find your content very interesting. The sheep game is alot different to where we are.
Cheers David, working on getting caught up and i’ll start adding subtitles 😁😂
I never realized that there are so many types of sheep. They are beautiful!🐑❤
ps I'm glad you're taking precautions, especially with the little one popping around. good lad!
Your sheep are beautiful, Cammy! ❤️🤗🐑
What can I say another great video Cammy I always loved going to the sheep market back in the day brings back great memories 👍 great quality sheep as well 👌
This was really special for me. Reminded me of going to livestock auctions with my grandpa when I was a kid. He lived in in the Pacific Northwest, US , but this process really is the same here. He passed a few years ago but this video brought back some wonderful memories of him for me. Thank you for that!! 💕
That was fun and interesting! Thanks for sharing!
More of the same please. Very interesting to see markets in Scotland
I got my Roku Streaming stick on Thursday. I'm watching you on my TV now!!!!! I'm watching this video on my TV. Lol.
Those Kerry Mules look super smart. You should get some!! 😉
Great video again, thanks
I enjoyed the auction thanks for sharing
Beautiful auction house. Gorgeous sheep. The ones with the black and white faces and look really yellow/orange. The wool looks different even. Can’t wait to tell Sandi about your video.🇺🇸👍
This is got to be one of the end most interesting videos I have seen today about sheep farming wow!! Also seeing the different variations of sheep it’s just so fascinating! Thank you so much I enjoy your channel!!👍🏽😊
#enjoyingfromtheUS❤️
Looks like fun!
Great footage. Very interesting.
It's always excited being around like minded people, not sad
Enjoyed the video, well done.
Great video. Really enjoyed this video.some good prices there. Super trade for sheep all round here in Ireland this year also. Good luck with your new sheep.
Awesome looking sheep. Love the black & white faces. The 4 you took are really nice looking. Great video really enjoyed watching a sale & listening to the auctioneer.
Your sheep look amazing.
Pretty sheep with black and white faces. So many kinds of sheep.
Exciting! Very interesting 😊
Hi! I am really impressed about the yellow coat. I never saw those "coloured" sheeps . Very nice. Much success and thanks for sharing 😍
Gorgeous sheep you hauled
Very enjoyable and love your vlogs 👍🥰
Love the varied content on your channel!
I love seeing livestock sales. Also, I would love to see a breed conformation show in Scotland. That would be nice. But in the end I love to see anything about the sheep.
I used to go to Ayr Cattle Market with my dad when I was a young lad in the 1960s I always enjoyed visiting the Mart. My father was a Livestock Transporter so was often at Ayr transporting sheep to Manchester. Forgot to say Great Video Cammy and yes please more Auction Mart Videos if possible
Love the sale barn!!
I found your channel recently and I just have to say, I absolutely love it!
I’m living my farming dream through you as there’s no way I’d be able to afford to get into it 😭
I’m enjoying every aspect of sheep farming that you’ve gone through in your videos :)
Keep up the fantastic work! Can’t wait for the next video!
Thanks so much. I love reading comments like that!
Any and all parts are great to see.
Thanks Beverly
Yes more of this
Yes on the marketing sales vids, payoff for all the years hard work..
How are your slaughter lambs marketed??
Livestock Sale barns, livestock markets, stok yards havent changed in 70 years. The banter, the excitements, farming news, seeing old friends.
Emotions run high especilly for the sellers and potential want to be buyers
Thanks Gunga, I had a vid recently called " Are my lambs heavy enough to sell?" That shows the process of selling fat lambs here,
Oh my gosh, on first glance I thought this thumbnail was scorpions on a blanket. I need more sleep.
Haha now that would be good click bait!
Since I don't think very many people, at least in the U.S., haven't seen any of what you video, yes, please continue letting us learn about the sheep business over there. We don't have that many breeds of sheep over here, so everything is interesting.
This is a great video. Showing people The ins and outs of sheep farming, from beginning to end, will help people understand things a little bit better. What even loves seeing what happens to the wool after it's been bagged and taken to market. Maybe show a local artist who works in wool?
I’m planning a trip to the scouring plant soon! See it all washed and prepped😁
loved this vid!🦌💌❤️🐑
Love these videos. Let's me see the individual breeds of sheep.
Keep doing the sales went around Scotland sales five years ago great experience
Loads of vlogs to come =D
Loved this and the four you brought home with you too :)
I have sheep, horses, goats and cattle but I ALWAYS love seeing other people's livestock.
Very interesting ,thanks
Excellent video, broadly covering all aspects including prep, as seller and as a buyer. really high prices in my opinion. Is there a buyers premium in place?
Another interesting video, Cammy! Thanks for the show and tell. Good luck hiding those golden girls in your flock. Lol. How long does it take for the dye to wash off?
Great video 👌
I'd love to see more sheep sales in the future. Interesting to see a sale in another country. 💘 Scotland n 🇺🇸
You’re new sheep look like Cheeto’s! 😁 Thank you for the explanation. I grew up in Kentucky watching Thoroughbred Horse sales. I think they’re a lot of fun to watch, keep ‘em coming!
Love seeing all aspects of sheep farming but I am partial to a livestock auction vlog. Lets me live vicariously through other people who are able to have a flock! ❤️🐑
really interesting, great video really good description, but sheering is the best
Very interesting, looked like good prices.
wow...I like those "orange" sheep....lol. Never seen orange sheep before ! xD (btw...they're gorgeous!)
Are those prices per head or for each lot? Seems much lower per ewe than you were getting for the fat lambs previously. Really enjoying the 'how-to' type videos. Cheers Cammy
Per head. I've been getting around £95-£105 per head for fat lambs.
i love those Kerri Hill ones.
Raised sheep growing up but definitely mainly here for the accent(s).
More please!
Oh Cammie, didn’t you say you cut your teeth on Texels And they gave you grief?. Hope they were cheap. Liked the Kerry hill X, all smart looking ewes.
Brilliant video Cammy.
Will have to put my Kerry ram to a few mules at that price 👍
Wild money 😁
Blast fae the past Ayr mart, good prices, another informative video, understood the auctioneer there, the ones in Thainstone Mart I've no clue what they're saying 🤣
tell us how you snagged Lizzie.. i hope you thank your lucky stars everyday. she is a keeper !
Beautiful, they look like cheddar cheese
I love a lamb stew..aw heck, I love lamb meat! It's so tasty! 😋 Like by you it's expensive here in the U.S. too. Wish it was more affordable. I'd eat it more often! I liked learning about the different breeds and the market in general. Love your accent!
Oh kerry hills are beautiful. One day il afford them, see their as expensive in Scotland as they are here at home in Ireland . Was it that mart that was on landmark this morning, I see your going to be on the next episode, you nearly a regular on that show now😀👏
I presume the prices the auctioneer was calling were per animal not for the whole group?
Thanks for another great video Cammy, it was very interesting seeing the auction happening and all that goes into it.
Yes it is per animal
I was wondering as well. In the US, sheep are sold per hundred weight most of the time so I wasn't sure about what the pricing was. I don't know if there are breeder auctions that sell per ewe or not.
Thanks guys I'll add that in next time
Aye, gid Sheep!😍
Starting to wonder if you're better at your Sheep Game or your You Tube Game... seriously banging top quality out every time!
Thanks Matt! Learning a wee bit all the time.
You're modest mate... Keep going it can only get bigger and better!
