Let's take a moment to appreciate the effort and talent in both the writing and the voice acting in this game. Truly next level stuff that is rarely seen in a fps game. Without these diaries, I don't think this game would have been half what it is ❤
I think the audio diaries in general are a subtle clue to atlas being Fontaine. Think about it, all the living characters you meet in the game have at least a couple audio logs scattered around Rapture, including several dead characters. Everyone, that is, except "Atlas."
Holy fuck, I never realized that. I been playing this game since its original launch and I STILL learn subtle things about its world. I wish bioshock would make a come back, BUT removing infinite
I'm glad you uploaded this. For some reason recently the algorithm was only promoting compilations with characters walking around and other noises interfering with the diaries. This is the format I like to listen to. Thank you.
I’ve actually been listening to these as inspiration for a Bioshock script I’m writing. There’s so much lore predating the first game that’s just a gold mine of inspiration.
10:38 kind of foreshadows Jack might be related to Ryan or any of the other high ranking members. He uses the bathysphere to go anywhere in the game pretty much.
Is it funny to say the audio logs are the main thing I think of when I think of Bioshock? The acting is so good and they perfectly encapsulate the atmosphere of the game.
@@SerChansey I'll replay the first game soon since I think I'll appreciate it more now that I understand the story (I will definitely listen to the audio logs when I start the second game tomorrow). Thanks again :-)
19:15 I remember finding this one for the first time and thinking how after spending so much time hearing about Fontane as this bogeyman figure actually hearing him talk for the first time was a shock.
@@wumpus976Steinman was kind of a serial killer and total psycho before he went to Rapture. There is a prequel novel where Andrew Ryan has the plan to build Rapture and meets McDonagh the contractor and all. Steinman was already insane before Rapture using cocaine and such he had hallucinations about Aphrodite.
13:14: Bridgit Tennenbaum is older & still a scientist with more info about the slug's Adam. 20:19: system shock 2 had that seeing ghosts thing first with the dark engine & then BioShock's unreal engine & its remastered self with a upgraded unreal engine sees them really ghostly. 03:15: Brigit Tennenbaum starts as a scientist as Delcroix is a scientist also. 05:15: does pipes leak water after a freezing point?
Also if they decide to adapt the the prequel audio book they better hire someone who can damn well play bill right that man risked everything his wife and kid
I realized years ago that Ryan's hypocrisy is easy to see, where as he starts to face a genuine challenge in the face of Fontaine's business he betrays his own ideals to hold onto his own power, but listening to these now I've started to realize how evident the corruption of ADAM is on others as well. One of the most obvious to me is Dr. Steinman early on. At first he sees it as a means to truly give his patients the exact features they want. But as time progresses and his own presumed addition to it grows, he starts to make those decisions for his patients in his own image of perfection. Going from saying that making one's features are "Yours to change, nobody else's" to "What other choice do we have but to sculpt and sculpt and sculpt until the job is done?" Also noticed Suchong's parallel between surviving the second world war on the surface to surviving the civil war underwater. In the former he survived because he supplied opium to the invading soldiers who killed everyone else he knew, and in the latter he survived because he was the only one who publicly knew how to develop and supply ADAM to the populace when everybody wanted it. In both cases, effectively surviving because he supplied the drugs people wanted.
"Whatever Ryan thinks he can do to me. FONTAINE CAN DO DOUBLE!"

I loved Infinite!
I like how you can kinda hear "long live Atlas!" in the very first audio log. That immediate foreshadowing.

I made sure my character was sitting in a spot with where no enemies could find me
@Maross your the best 👍 the effort really paid off 👏 I literally listen to this as a sort of audio book :) very entertaining
You can make a whole Netflix series out of these
Netflix Lo va arruinar
Netflix would screw it up and make it woke garbage..look what they did with Resident Evil
Can't trust any of these streaming services to give Bioshock the treatment it deserves

please keep it away from Netflix.

I love how the thumbnail is a Big Daddy strangling a Audio Diary 😂😂
I’m so glad someone noticed that!
I was looking for a compilation of the recordings. Thank you for this.
Great 20's transatlantic asmr
Used to fall asleep to Suchong's voice. Love these.
IT was not impossible to build Rapture at the bottom of the sea. It was impossible to build it anywhere else.
Thanks for posting this! I finished the game but I hadn't listened to most of the audio logs so I was pretty confused about the story
No problemo! I had finished playing and figured I’d just take the time to record them for people who just wanted to have a listen!

10:54 I can't believe the twist is hinted at THIS EARLY. this game's writing is phenomenal

i love watching this. i think i watch it at least 10 times every year while i replay.
Wow.
Suchong really was terrible, wasn’t he?
Steinman, Suchong and Ryan. 3 complete sociopaths.
@@Pfisiar22 I don’t really think Steinman was a complete sociopath. He was merely overtaken by his perfectionism, coupled with his ADAM addiction.

Your Last point. When water freezes it expands thus breaking pipes from the inside
Listening to these recordings is something "wonderful" andd stunning right after reading the novel Bioshock: Rapture!💙
My favorite bioshock is bioshock 1 and bioshock infinite
Excelente video, aprendo english con las conversaciones y traduciendolo, sigue así bro 😀
12:38 hardest line in the game
Roach Dog detected
Bill McDonagh was the most based man in Rapture. Fuck politics, we just trying to keep that city working.
I’m a Nico Time man, always will be
2:15 Really captures the dark reality of today.
What do you mean by this ?
