I always thought Madonna was simply too famous and independent to even need a husband on her arm. She was the most talked about artist worldwide during the 80s and 90s .
Sean couldn't handle the success and fame that she acquired . It was always obvious from the beginning of their marriage .

@@Camille_Anderson you may be right as that struck me soon after I said this. She is a great self promoter performer and song writer. He's a better actor but that's all he does that ii know of. Maybe directs and writes which is probably good. But she's done along of very reverse stuff and didn't have the in that Penn had bc his family was already show biz going in. I'm not a great fan of hers but Madonna changed fashion in ways I appreciate and had some cool songs outside the pop tart shit. U don't think I like either of them much bc they always seem so elitist and self righteous but I agree. She may have more talent than Penn perhaps meant more depth. And maybe development? Artists and humans should evolve and she doesn't seem too enlightened. With that covid add of hers in the tub and endless changes to her looks it doesn't look like she's made art into much more than $. Hard to say with Penn. He looks like he's earned his face and she ruined hers .

It’s not fair that some men cannot handle being in a relationship with famous powerful women while there are plenty of women being in relationships with famous men and even if there’s suspected infidelity/jealousy women will not go far to beat up people/injure them.
a police report was filed. also, first time she filed for divorce, the abuse was mentioned as the reason. her brother and other people also talked about the abuse, they saw it. madonna is just protecting/defending him
Totally forgot these two were married. But if I recall, they spent most of their time apart building careers. He was sort of a joke for the tabloids and they baited him all the time to get a rise out of him.

Whether or not he was abusive, Madonna denied it. I don't even think such was mentioned in the book her brother wrote. He was her first big love so you always leave a piece with those. It took a little more time for his career to take off but he's been very successful in film and as an activist. It may be getting better these days but men generally don't like it when their women get all of the attention. Add problems dealing with the media too... Egos. And both of them have big ones.

Remember that domestic violence doesnt have to always mean physical abuse. It can be emotional, mental, financial and even spiritual abuse. Its their business and no one else needs to know what happened in their marriage. If they have still remained friends thats great. Well done her for not putting up with his behaviour for too long. It must of been tourture for her to make that decision to divorce as she loved him so much. But she is a powerful woman and knew she deserved to be treated better. ❤

This whole report could be summed up in a single word : ALCOHOL. She had a similar problem with her "Guy" who liked hanging out at pubs. She likes her boys "bad" so that is what she chose. Sober people may seem "boring" to drinkers but you will have a much better chance of a mature, respectfully communicative, and lasting relationship if both people are sober. Sean's drug of choice was booze, which his prematurely aged face strongly suggests. Madonna's drug of choice is attention. I respect them both for their commitment to social issues as well as their artistic accomplishments but their youthful relationship is yet another confirmation that ALCOHOL IS A DRAMA MAGNET.
