- In this law student vlog, I take you with me on one of the most difficult weeks of the LPC so far - EXAM WEEK! This is not just any exam week, this exam week consists of two of the core practice area exams, Dispute Resolution, and Real Estate Law and Practice. I didn't film everything because it was actually quite a stressful period, but I filmed as much as I could for this law student vlog.

Hey lovely! Thank you for sharing your experience on your LPC/exams. It’s so hard to find in depth videos of real life student experiences so I really appreciate it when you upload vids specifically about the LPC ☺️ You seem so organised and motivated, it’s really refreshing! Would love to see a video on how you organise your folders for open book exams, especially given there is just SO MUCH paper! 😂 How do you decide what to KEEP in your folder and what to get rid of?
I’m currently doing the full time course at ULaw and I’m not a huge fan of Professional Conduct. It ‘appears’ straightforward but I totally agree with you in that it can be extremely nuanced when it comes to the MCQ style questions. I’ve got my exam for that coming up in June and I’m dreading it, especially given it’s grade weighted! 🙃
I wondered, when you revised, did you JUST do the Synap/test & feedback questions, read through the chapters, tab and highlight? Or did you take in depth notes on each of the chapters?
Also, I’m not sure if it is the same for you, but when I had my workshops on Professional Conduct, they focussed heavily on Conflict of Interest; Confidentiality; FSMA; Money Laundering and the workshop guides themselves only mention reading on the above mentioned topics. But I can see that there are several ADDITIONAL chapters not mentioned in the workshop guide that appear examinable, such as Duties Owed to the Court and Third Parties; Client Care and Costs; the Retainer; Obtaining Instructions/Advertising etc, which makes me wonder how useful the workshops even were. I wondered if you revised those topics despite them not being covered in the workshops?

When I revised I mainly used synap and the test and feedback. I think I also went over both of the workshops and the tasks within them, but not in any great detail.
I don't think I am the best person to give advice on how to prepare given that I did not prepare properly for the exam but I can give you some pointers hopefully. The exam did have topics that I wasn't expecting but I can't remember now whether they were in the required reading for the course...I don't think client care/costs came up...definitely go over advertising and duties owed to the court - I am pretty sure these come up in the Synap questions? I think the best preparation other than going over the workshop reading list, workshop tasks and synap/ T&F is just to tab everything so you can find different topics in the exam - there is enough time to look things up. I just heavily relied on Synap and because of that I struggled in the exam. Luckily my tabbing system saved me (I hope).

Hey, thank you for sharing your experience. I just have a few questions; how many closed book exams were there throughout the whole course? And do you think you can work alongside doing the LPC, especially full time?
